btw it's not bad idea to mix TIM with LM....wondering what will be the result.....?

As both LM and Kryo companies suggest spread method...so I will give it a try to mix LM with TIM and will see how the mixture will perform.... ;)

Yeah Cross or Pea method work way better than spread method...I tried spread method but it only raised the temp....no idea why Thermal Grizzly suggest spread method....

I honestly believe they recommend spread for total coverage. Not for better thermal performance, but for liability reasons.

...What the actual hell? You're lucky nothing fried. How did the LM even spray everywhere like that? Never before have I ever seen remotely close to that kind of a mess with LM. The only thing I can think of is bad contact + shocking your laptop on its edge many times. The LM also doesn't cover the entire die, which means that if the thermal sensor is covered but not some other component you could fry it due to excess temps. You say this was a factory LM paste job? @GenTechPC

I wondered how LM got everywhere too until I read where he said it was lint from a pack of paper towels he opened. :D

That and you have to slide the heat pipes downward from the die to remove the heat sink. Once I realized it was taped off I moved a little quicker with the removal than one normally would and some of it slid off the heat sink like the t2000.

I'm pretty sure at least some of that's LM. Look at the shapes. The fact that the die doesn't have 100% coverage is more evidence something went very, very wrong.

    It's normal.

run battery calibration, it will tell you that you battery need calibration or not....

If you haven't run the battery calibration at all out of the box...you should run it....

Remember I told you to unplug the battery before removing the GPU HS, that was the reason....even with Kryo if you remove CPU / GPU HS...the TIM on HS when break it's bond with die and you pull and slide the HS....same will happen....

Yeah it's LM on the tape....no doubt...with this laptop, you cannot pull GPU / CPU HS straight up, you have to slide it so HS exhaust fins get out of their cabinets and gives you enough room to lift the HS straight up....but during the slide the TIM or LM spread outside the die....totally normal...happened to me multiple times....no matter how less amount of TIM you apply...this always happen....

The die is missing coverage on all corners, not just in one direction like you would expect if the only problem was the sliding HS. Plus liquid metal shouldn't be applied thick enough to pool like that regardless. I'm fairly certain that there is a relatively large gap between the HS and the die, which leads to a) application of far more than necessary and b) pooling of the LM due to surface tension after application. I also suspect that the heat sink wasn't primed with a coating of LM first, which can contribute to pooling due to insufficient adhesion to the copper.

I cannot say anything why coverage on all corners are missing....may be applied it cross or pea method......

Personally I haven't tired LM yet but it's on top on my list...any day now.....

also @Badhand386 can share his experience in brief how he applied LM so we can reach on a conclusion....

I figured out the real reason why my idle clocks were all messed up too. If you enable DSR or gsync for windowed and full screen applications, it keeps your GPU clocks higher.

Do you mean the M.2 PCIe? or the normal 2.5" drive?

I can't get Samsung Magician have my PCIe detected, i can do a performance test but it still doesn't show up any name or anything.

    AS SSD Samsung 960.PNG

I thought could be a bit faster then the Toshibas but my device is much more faster now the with the two toshibas.

Any updates with the new Vbios for the 1070 6RE? Stable? No problems?

I'm still getting flashing black screens with 378.66. Just started playing overwatch and got the black screen as per usual when any kind of large fps drop occurs. Leaving vsync on cures this but I'm hoping for a fix. Am I still the only person experiencing this problem? Seems to be 1070 related so far. I have everything turned off or set to default in the NVCP (not that it should matter).

Just another typo mistake....if you read the Note...that even doesn't make any sense....the BIOS version .308 is typo mistake....and if you do flash....there is nothing fancy about it...you only get option in BIOS > Advanced Tab

    Maximum Memory Frequency...Auto / 2133 / 2400

my guess the new BIOS version is E17A1MS.30A

and Note should be something like this : If your system BIOS version is E17A1MS.308 or older versions, please must update BIOS to E17A1MS.313 by FlashWIN tool before you update to latest version (E17A1MS.313 or newer version)

may be MSI released first BIOS so the note make more sense and E17A1IMS.30A will be on it's way........

following is the "Add memory frequency item in BSU." so you can check if it's already in BIOS and if it does means .308 is old BIOS and MSI just only made it public.....

It is older BIOS, .308 > .313 > .30A so where is E17A1IMS.30A which mentioned in the Note.....? may be on it's way or MSI made a big blunder thinking they upload E17A1IMS.30A where they uploaded old BIOS .108

I suggest wait and give it a day or two....better open support ticket so MSI fix the mistake....

Be careful, the note is saying that if you have 308 or older, then it needs to be updated to 30A which is missing.
    Here is E17A1IMS.30A [ Download].

for 6Rx owners, no new BIOS update and if you have stable laptop...I suggest not to run any update unless MSI release a major update...Currently if you run BIOS update (if you haven't update yet) you only get the option in Advanced Tab to change Ram speed...

and personal opinion about any update....now I'm not as existed as I was when I purchased the laptop so mostly I ignore these small updates..... :D

.30A is newest BIOS if you check 6RF you will see .10A as current BIOS version and earlier versions were .106 and .107

Or may be just like 6Rx owners MSI also decide for 7Rx owners.....that's it no more fun.....30A is the final BIOS for you guys .......becuase after .10A there was no BIOS update for 6Rx owners.....

Based on their release frequency, each version can be major but many times they don't reveal full details behind it.
But it is personal choice, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

at this point, it's all guess so I think that .313 is a test version released with laptop and .30A stable version (same guess for 6Rx) and may be from this point (hopefully) we will see some real improvements for both 6Rx and 7Rx lineup...

no high hopes.....MSI haven't release an EC firmware fix for 6Rx laptop.....
