Ahhhhh ok so I have my CPU set to 4.2 in dragon center and it's on turbo. Cpuz says it's running at 3.3 or less. I've restarted and everything and it will not OC am I doing something wrong? It's set to higher performance in windows what gives????

I can switch from sport to eco and the CPU goes down it just won't go past 3.5

Try installing Intel XTU and see if it helps. You don't have to do anything with it. Just install it and see if Dragon center works right. You can also play around with overclocking with XTU. I can't get mine to do 4.2 with anything. Increasing voltage just gives worse performance.DukeCLR and dodgehemi0 like this.

I just did it in the bios set it to 4.1

New listing but old drivers xD
Nahimic is up to 2.5.5 and they have 8083 WHQL, gonna try 8098 WHQL. -
Yes seems old drivers but with big difference, since it's released by MSI so these are OEM drivers optimized / designed specifically for GT73VR and may also address some known reported / unknown problems.DukeCLR, Atma, Spartan@HIDevolution and 1 other person like this.

Nahimic "new" working /included with these?

it's best to stick to Manufacturer Drivers. It's not like a newer Audio Driver i going to make your PC go faster anyway. -
specialist7 Notebook Evangelist
Not necessarily, they're old drivers just repackaged unless specified. MSI aren't always up to date with new drivers (can be a good thing if new drivers are buggy) though 8027 was released with 2.3.14 previously (2 months ago). Nahimic already supports MSI products so they dont really need to be optimized by MSI as shown here: http://www.nahimic.com/download-nahimic 8053 WHQL was out a while back and I used that with 2.3.14 just fine and is also the minimum requirements for Nahimic 2+ that was released 9 days ago.DukeCLR and Badhand386 like this. -
No Idea and I'm using 2.3.12 and No problem at all.....
Agree, I updated Killer wireless from their website and I regret it, with OEM drivers I had no problem but after the update, killer wireless gone haywire...
So do not update, unless you have a problem Or you will have a problem after an update, most recent example is, where laptop not wake up from sleep cause by updating the nvidia drivers to latest versionDukeCLR, Badhand386 and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

What are you guys talking about? Is there something cool I'm missing with the new Nahimic?

Hold CTRL and press a number on your keypad.
I haven't updated Nahimic yet so it's been in there for a while I guess. -
Under HD Audio Recorder 2 you can find the Audio Pad.
on the next page (right arrow) you can deactivate it, if you want
It is the Audio Launchpad ON/Off. -

Hi Guys,
I recently got GT73VR 7RE-494CA TITAN , but i dont see any CPU OC available - only GPU.
Can i OC this CPU at all - any help is greatly appreciated!
ThanksDukeCLR likes this. -
Well that's weird. When you click on system tuner, then on turbo, that should o/c it to 4GHz and it should show in system monitor. It should show your cpu speed in system monitor no matter what it is set on and yours shows nothing. Maybe try installing dragon center again.serdarevica and DukeCLR like this.

There should be a CPU tab somewhere, The lower image is the GPU tab. I would post a screenie but I'm not on my laptop.

Maybe file a ticket with MSI and see if they have an idea. Something is definitely screwy. Maybe there is a sensor that isn't working right but I really have no idea. You might try overclocking in the bios just to 4GHz and then use HWInfo or HWMonitor to see if it is working.

Hello everyone,
I recently bought a MSI GT73VR 6RF (GTX 1080) and received it yesterday but I think the laptop is defective
I optimized it, ran benchmark (everything is fine) and installed all drivers so there are not any viruses, malware or anything.
Problem is the GPU and CPU temp and the fan speed !!
When gaming plugged in, my GPU is 87-90 degrees, CPU is like 80 degrees
IDLE plugged in, GPU is 65 degrees and CPU 50-60 degrees.
When gaming, the fan are becoming crazy ! Its scary lol
However, when unplugged in IDLE, GPU and CPU are like 45 degrees.
So what could be the problem ?
How to check if the AC adapter gives enough power ? How to check Mhz or Ghz ? (Sorry don't know too much in this field)
Problem may comes from here or from speed of the fans.
I paid a lot of money as a student and I don't know what to do ...
What are your normal temps in IDLE and GAMING in ultra ? Really important question for me !
If anyone has time to check my laptop with Teamviewer he would definitely save my life ....
Thanks to all of you. -
@serdarevica Wow I didn't even notice your CPU, I don't understyand why they would sell a locked CPU in this chassis?
@Antho785 Those temps are high. Youd should be in the 30's at idle and no more the 80s at load, and thats with an overclock. Did you buy this new? If so check for packing material in the vents or some other thing blocking airflow. I would also file a ticket with MSI.Shehary, Papusan, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -
@DukeCLR Hello man.
Really normally should be 30 in indle ?
As I said, unplugged I am at 43 degrees for CPU and GPU approximatively.
I bought this refurbished, but from a company on amazon, had a problem with the same computer before (dead screen because) so they sent me this replacement.
I ran benchmark and out of 100 compiters, only 9 have better performance than mine (type user benchmark on google)
Already opened it, it is all clear and new regarding components.
I dont know how to apply paste.
Do you own this laptop ?
I updated BIOS and EC as well maybe thats where is the problem.
Where to check fan speed in bios ?
Maybe a fresh install with DDU will solve the problem ?
What do you think?
Thanks again! -
The big improvement you *can* make to the CPU, is to undervolt it using XTU. That will reduce voltage to the CPU; tune it for proper voltage it needs instead of the "overvoltage" setting it gets from the BIOS; which will help reduce the temperature on the CPU.
All CPU's are slightly different in their ability to undervolt, some Kabylake will do -150mV, some only -45mV at stock CPU multiplier settings - and the 7700HQ will only run at stock settings, so you only need to tune for undervolt once
I'd start at -50mV and run for a while. You can run a benchmark if you like, but even a successful benchmark run, or long (10-15 minute) stress test is only part of the needed testing. Or you can just game to test stability.
I recommend not doing important work / gaming while testing undervolt, as when you crash you could loose work or corrupt files.
Remember to do a chkdsk on the C drive after a crash. Schedule a disk check at next boot as the C drive won't allow checking while running Windows, it needs to be done at boot time.
If you have an hour or so to change the undervolt, test it, increase the undervolt -10mV, test it, etc, until you get a Blue Screen or it reboots, then back off to the previous tested setting and see if that's stable long term.
When you think you have a load stable undervolt, then let the laptop sit idle, or watch a DVD / video and don't do anything else. The last stability test is idle stable, where the voltage will continually ramp down.
You could get a good 10c less temp on CPU under load with a final undervolt setting.
Have fun, and please come back and let us know what value you found to be stable.

What's your room ambient temperature.....?
where I live, last week was Hot and I see idle temp rise to 41 both CPU / GPU (re-pasted Grizzly Kryo)
Change Sport Mode to Eco or Comfort Mode in Dragon Center and see if it drops CPU temps, post back the result....
Do not re-paste, stock paste already good enough and if laptop temps are high with stock paste, you will not get any noticeable difference with re-paste, follow what @DukeCLR suggested, check both vents, see if warranty sticker intact, open support ticket with MSI....if the company you bought from gave you grace period to replace the laptop, get replacement...
GTX 1080, ultra high setting, Temp never crossed 80 (mostly stayed under 75) and CPU never crossed 70 mostly stayed under 65...no OC
Idle CPU / GPU between 35 to 40 if plugged and if unplugged below 30 depend on room ambient temperature.Last edited: Mar 30, 2017HardCoreGamer4Life, Atma, DukeCLR and 2 others like this.
