Hey man, how often do you need to change the thermal pads and repaste the laptop? I've never done this before as it's my first gaming laptop so I'm kind of against the idea of having to do it myself (but if it is to be done, I can do it since I won't have a choice). Won't the thermal pads and the CLU thermal paste (done by HIDevolution) last me for about 3-5 years? I plan for this laptop to last indefinitely but if it it's not going to last long I want to be able to use it for at least 3-5 years.Atma likes this. -

Hey bro, is the O&O ShutUp10 now compatible with the new Windows 10 update? You told me when we installed the new Windows 10 in my laptop to not use it with the O&O ShutUp10 yet since it might cause some problems as they're not compatible yet. -

a question
should I install drivers both intel&killer for wireless and Bluetooth ?DukeCLR likes this. -
No, just install the drivers for the devices in your laptop.
You will have one or the other. Check your device manager to see which and then install the appropriate drivers.DukeCLR and powerofviva like this. -
Anyone else getting this SCM error when using the GPU switch button?
It stops the laptop from automatically restarting, but doing a manual shutdown/restart does switch the GPU.

The reason I am repasting, my CPU has been running hotter since it came back from MSI when they replaced the ram. I figured I might as well also do the pads while I have it apart. From everything I have seen, it looks like a fairly easy process. First time I have done it too.HardCoreGamer4Life, DukeCLR and hmscott like this.

you are most welcome, I think, I didn't share CPU thermal padding though it's pretty straight forward and minus-8 pads are excellent choice for both CPU / GPUAtma likes this.

anybody who haven't updated to windows CE, hold your horses, on top of random software crashes, one very weird problem is black screen, when booting laptop or shutting down, so either wait and don't run the update till MS fix this issue or if you have already updated and encounter this black screen problem, do no change anything in your software setting or drivers....you will make it more worse...only best solution is give the laptop some time, while booting, if laptop stuck at black screen, do no force shut down it, give it 5 up-to 15 mins and you will have the login screen and same when shutting down and screen turns black but keyboards light still On and fans running, do no force shut down, give it 5 up-to 15 mins and it will auto shutdown....

The X Cross method is the best in my experience as once the heatsink is fitted, it provides the maximum coverage with the least air bubbles

I haven't encounter the black screen right after update, did many restarts and couple of shut downs but 2nd day when boot laptop, first thing I encounter was black screen though I already read about it and many users suggested to give laptop time to boot up, so did I and I got the login screen....though I notice that It has something to do with external peripherals, I think my Razor keyboard (Razor Synapse Tool) is the culprit but I'm not sure at this point as all external peripherals connected via USB 10 port hub and I didn't get time to narrow down which hardware causing the problem, only thing I notice is that when shutting down the laptop, razor KB lights turn off and If I press any key, it's lights turn on and on USB hub it's showing in active state....Last edited: Apr 15, 2017Atma and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

The only issue I had was trying to update it which was fixed by removing both of my drives and just leaving my boot drive on there, updated no problems after that.
Only thing I noticed so far is 3DMark not being 100% compatible, currently streaming on twitch and playing games just fine on 381.78.
Didn't really have any black screen issues.
Some users on the Nahimic forums report of having sound issues and Nahimic not working/UI not showing up. Mine works fine so far on Nahimic 2.5.5 and Realtek 8108.
So YMMV I guess.Atma likes this. -

Now I can say my laptop have no issue at all after CE update....(updating nvidia drivers also resolve youtube sound issue)

I haven't had much time to dedicate to my laptop lately as I have been busy flying trips but as soon as I get a full day in the crash pad I'll be sure to update the drivers and give the CE a try.

Thanks man! BTW, the issue I had with the "DragonCenter_Updaer.exe has stopped working" is back. It was gone for a very long time so I didn't bother you with it anymore. I don't know why it came back as I haven't done any update with DGC. DGC also suddenly stops working and I can't open it back again unless I restart the laptop (don't also know why this is happening).
Also as of recent, I've experienced some blue screens every time I shut down the laptop. 1) the "Stop Code: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL" and 2) "Stop Code: Memory Management". Both of these errors doesn't always happen, they just pop up from time to time (I don't know what's causing them both). And every time they occur, the laptop just get stuck on 100% trying to solve the problem and I always need to force shut down it. I then turn it back on and shut it down again ang the error goes away for the time being.
On the first problem, I've ran sfc/scannow and chkdsk /f but it didn't fixed the problem. The error happened twice after the first one, (never on consecutive shut downs and never on the same day) and I don't know the reason behind the error happening again (it just pops). On the second problem, I ran Memory Diagnostic Tool and so far so good as the error hasn't come back yet (cross fingers)
. Have you experienced both these errors bro? Any advice as to what I should do to prevent these errors from coming back? Especially the first one as I haven't no solution for it yet. Thanks man!

bro your errors never stop do they
1) Uninstall Dragon Center then after the reboot, go into Program Files (x86)\MSI and delete the Dragon Center folder if you find it
Download the latest version again and install it then reboot
don't rename any files this time
2) for the random errors, try decreasing your CPU undervoltPapusan and HardCoreGamer4Life like this. -

I'm also starting to wonder why errors keep on happening to me bro lol. I'll do the first one when I get back home with faster internet. Thanks a lot man!
With regards to the second one, I haven't experienced those errors before (I always run games with an OC of 4.0 Ghz and -50 mv undervolt). All the games I played and AIDA64 are stable with it. It must've happened after I tried 4.2 with no undervolt and it wasn't stable playing with TW3. The error started back then if I can remember correctly but not immediately after the laptop crashed. I reverted back to my usual settings (4.0Ghz and -50mv) and played my games. I then set it down to Comfort (as I always does before shutting down to cool it off first) and the error happened when I shut it down. It was also the time I ran 3DMark Fire Strike and Time Spy benchmarks with 4.0Ghz with -50mv and 4.1Ghz with -25mv (if these two have anything to do with it). -
What a difference a repaste makes.

Hey mate, for me it is working fine if you install the latest relatek Driver from the msi Service for your device it should work fine for you too.
You must check it by your own mate.
i start with +150 for GPU and +250 for my Memory this should be stable for you too.
at the Moment i run it with +200 GPU and +300 for the Memory but i still test it when i have some time

Hey everyone! I have a couple of questions about this laptop. I recently got the GT73VR with 1070 SLI and was wondering how to add a another m.2 hard drive. I opened it up and noticed that one of the screws is covered by the 2nd GPU. Do I have to take everything apart just to add another hard drive?
I have also noticed some people are re-pasting their laptops. Is this because they are overclocking or is the stock paste really bad? I don't plan to overclock and wondering if it's a good idea to repaste like @ Atma and @ Shehary are doing.
Thanks!
Atma likes this. -
I repasted mine because I had to send in my laptop to MSI to replace bad ram. When it came back, the CPU was running hotter than usual. From my understanding, MSI's paste is good enough for most people for several years so I would not worry about it in your case.

Have you updated windows to the creators edition? I noticed my dragon center was acting weird too after that. Also, Try downloading and installing Intel XTU. You don't even need to use it, just install it. That has fixed some problems in dragon center in the past.powerofviva likes this.

@Phoenix Hey bro, so I did what you instructed me with regards to the DGC problem and it no longer have that "DragonCenter_Updaer has stopped working" error and the DGC also no longer crashes. Thanks for that man!
With regards to the "Stop Code
RIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL" error though, I think it doesn't have to do with the voltage as I've recently experienced that blue screen while the laptop was unplugged and not charging. That means that the error still happens even when the laptop is not in High Performance and not OCed and undervolted. Any other idea about this bro? Thank you so much for the help man!

Have you updated to the creators edition of windows? I got that EXPOOL BSOD and several iaStorA.sys BSOD's the last couple of days. After doing some reading, I saw that Microsoft had problems with the iaStorA.sys BSOD when they first brought out Windows 10. Apparently it's not fixed in creators either. I finally broke down and did a clean install last night and everything seems to be fine today.HardCoreGamer4Life likes this.

Yes I've updated to that even before everyone else with the help of @Phoenix . Can I still do a clean install even though I don't have a usb drive containing the out of the box Windows 10 when I bought the laptop? When I bought it from HIDevolution I didn't get the Clean Installation of Windows 10 option so I don't have the drive with the backup.
