Yes you can. Follow Phoenix's guide. That's what I did yesterday. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/nbr-windows-10-clean-installation-guide.781178/ If you are running raid, be sure you download intel raid drivers and have them on a separate usb drive. You will also need at least the chipset drivers and SCM from MSI but you can do that after installing windows. I downloaded steel series 3 from steel series site since it is a newer version. I didn't install dragon center because I'm not sure it is working right with the creators.

Sorry for the delay because it's not been happening to me recently and I thought uninstalling the GeForce Experience should've made it go away but it wasn't the case since it happened again today. So this is a video of it and as you'll hear at 0:08 in the video, there's a "click" sound before it turns on again. Is this normal?

Yes it will and I also had to remove the D: hard drive to get it to install on my C: nvme raid drive. It couldn't see it otherwise and wanted to install on D:. Fortunately i have an old ssd drive with an external adapter I keep all my reinstall apps on so it made it a little easier.

I don't have raid drivers, my C: is a Samsung 960 Evo and my D: is the 1 TB Hard Drive that came with the laptop. Will clean installing the Windows still delete my files in Drive D:?

Well it may only see the D:. That's the problem with having a hard drive amd an nvme. I tried installing first and it only saw my 1TB drive instead of my nvme drive. I cancelled the install and removed D: and then it saw my C:. A PITA but you do what you gotta do.

Mine used to do that often and the noise was right under the switch, not where the hard drive is. I don't know if updating bios or EC or what fixed it but it hasn't done it in a long time.

That would be really too much of a hassle. I'll just wait out some Windows updates and see if it'll fix the BSODs I've been experiencing.

Yes, the noise came from under the switch. I didn't know what it was. It was gone for a long time but then suddenly pops up unexpectedly. It just happens from time to time.

So it's perfectly normal and wouldn't cause any problems in the future? Because if there's some underlying complication to it, I would want to fix it now before it becomes anything serious.

I didn't really worry about the sound, it was the rebooting by itself that was a little worrisome. I don't think it's serious. You could try updating bios/ec and see if that helps if you haven't. Like I said, mine hasn't done it anymore.

I just shutdown using windows and restarted with the power button, I didn't hear that sound. I think that sound occurs when I have had crashes or freezes while OCing. I haven't messed with much lately so maybe that why I haven't heard it.

Same here. After the update msi dragon center stoped working and msi updater I think. Thats why i uninstalled dragon center and just use the intel xtu for overclocking the cpu and msi afterburner for overclocking the gpu. I also want to remove the msi updaer but I cant find it in the program.

Can I ask what program do you guys use for the fan control?

Silent Option https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=255972.0 but they're only for skylakes, haswell and broadwell in this page. This also fixed the fan curves for my CPU whereas it gave me 6 when I only had 5 in DGC.

This is weird. I did all my cpu overclocking before with dragon center and and now intel xtu with 43x on all cores and passing the stress test on intel xtu. Then i tried to overclock the cpu in the bios with 43x but when i save and restart and check task manager it does not recognize the oc i made in the bios.

It's easy, just remover the main panel then a few screws that hold the heat sink in place. I think the first pictures were somewhere between page 50 and 100. @Shehary may be able to point you closer.

Does this silent option override the dgc control centre? since my dgc only shows the 5 points (two are overlapping on the first point), but the silent option shows all the proper points which one takes precedence?

So what is the fix for the DC? I can't see it in task manager and I tried re-installing the latest version for my 6RE and it won't even start the setup.exe

Also, for the people who have replaced the CPU/GPU fans. What does the noise sound like? I keep getting a repeated 4-5 soft tapping noises. sorta like a super quiet rata-ta-ta-ta. I just noticed it tonight when it was very quiet in the room.

Yes it does. I just leave my settings on DGC on Auto and just use Silent Option on Advanced option. After adjusting my preferred settings for the fan curve I just click apply and it just overlaps my settings on DGC. At first you'll sometimes see that it won't work immediately, but when you're running a game or a software that makes your CPU and GPU hot, just click the apply button on the Advanced option again and that'll make it work.

Force a shutdown by holding power. Don't let go of power for about a minute. Then turn on your laptop again. I had trouble with bios settings and clearing CMOS helped, could be a conflict between xtu and other programs if that fails.

Somebody shared full tear down video from MSI German Forum....in last 50 to 70 pages

You can find pictures I shared but the video will be more helpful, though in short, you have to remove all 4 heatsinks, SSD, HD, GPU, Battery, body panels etc etc.....it's not easy....

If you are thinking to replace the Ram with some other brand....it will be waste of money....it looks good in signature but performance wise no big time difference...
if you are thinking to upgrade, 32 GB Total Ram more than enough, above 32 GB....... :nah:

Kingston Value Ram, CL 17, Un-buffered, Non-ECC is what you need to upgrade.

Can someone help me. I have a problem with the battery on my gt73vr . When I play games with the condition of the battery is connected to the adapter I had reduced the battery indicator shows 100% -90% ((Not charging)) and has steadily decreased from 100% to 90% with the condition connected to the adapter. When the battery is reduced below 90% or 89% indicator to change batteries and adapters started to fill up with the indicator 'until fully charger'. And it keeps on going for over and over again. Is this normal. The batteries only charge when the indicator 89% or below 90%. Is there a way so that the battery remains at 98-99%. So I really use the full power of the adapter without using batteries

If you use a gt73vr 6re no. I had the same issue with my gt73 and it was two times to the rma at msi. After the second rma it drain more to 30%. But i don't check how much it will drain now. You can disconnect the battery cable. I do this and i have no issues so far. I can't use it mobile but it is a desktop replacement☺.

Doubtful, MSI hasn't followed the MXM upgrade path with their last couple generations.

The MXM GPU makes it nice if there is a failure, it can be easily replaced with the same part.

The 1080 part that fits in the GT73VR doesn't have SLI connector, and there is no word if the 1080 that fits in the GT83VR that has an SLI connector will fit in the GT73VR.

The GT73VR single GPU models have a solid block of plastic moulded to the chassis, IDT the 2nd MXM connector is there either...

So the best chance would be a GT73VR 1070 SLI model, and 2 1080's with SLI connectors from somewhere else that would fit... unlikely.

Best to sell your old laptop and get a new one, you get a new motherboard, maybe next generation CPU too - the 7820HK was a nice 300mhz bump up from the 6820HK.

Maybe next generation there will be a Ryzen CPU with a VEGA crossfire GPU's ;)

Surely having SLI 1080 --> not all the games are compatible with that --> more temperature --> you have to carry 2 big charger everywhere --> more battery juice --> you have to change the battery sooner

for the reasons above, I prefered to select one 1080 :) if I would like to select SLI, surely I would select GT83 1080 SLI model

If you start about 18:50 you will see a 2nd slot for another GPU.

My single 1070 6RE has the same. Watching the video you posted, I was wondering if you could just add another card and heat sink, plus more battery of course. Not that I really want to at this point.

I want to ask a strange thing, I rememberi had the same problem on my previous laptop ASUS G75vx.
sometimes I am hearing I sound like "tik --> like windows XP when you closed a folder if you remember" from my speaker. specially when I increase/decrease the sound! and sometimes when I doing nothing!

is there anyone here to knows the solution!!! is that really speaker sound!? I donno how to solve that since I reinstalled realtek driver several times!

    thank you

The GT73VR can come with a 4k display, or a 120hz 1080p display, and the GT83VR 18" is only offered as a 60hz 1080p display - it will OC to 100hz for many, but it's not guaranteed.

The single 330w is plenty heavy, not as much as 2x 330w in the 1080 SLI GT83VR :)

    It's a tough choice...

Hopefully MSI revamps the GT83VR or comes out with a new 20" screen with more performance.
