I think it is Version 1703.
-
Yes, it came via Windows Update automatically, but I was asked if I want to install it now or later.
It's 1703. 1608 was the Anniversary Update last year. Or did I misunderstand your question?
Edit: Or did you mean "manually" instead of "automatically"?Atma likes this. -
Not showing up on the download site for the MSI GT73VR 7RF though!Atma likes this.

Anyone else have problems with Dragon Center not controlling the fans...When I have it on Auto the fans are not kicking on until the temps are crazy high (70c + and higher) and then they crank up...once done they go all the way to Zero...also for some reason my fans for the CPU/GPU only have one temp controller (slide) that is all the way to the left (cool side)...things are fine with I delete Dragon Center and just run the intel ETU and Silent Option...anyone else not running dragon center?
-
I haven't run it since I did a clean install after the creators update. I wasn't sure it was working right with the update. I'll wait for a new version before I install it again .. if at all.
-
I have not had theses issues but I haven't upgraded anything except for drivers.

Yea I found it really strange that Dragon Center would put the fans at 0rpm and not do anything until temps really started to climb...

Mine run about 1200rpm when idle at default CPU.
-
did you use the laptop on battery....? check Advance Fan Settings, see if CPU / GPU all bars not set to zero....
-
I double checked that in Dragon Center...the only adjustment is the slide bar all the way to the left...like there is only one fan control for one temp range...Silent Option gives me 6 different points...Same with the basic setting in Dragon Center...the fan speed control doesn't work...but when I put it to Auto the fan speeds go to 0 unless it is getting crazy hot...then they jump up and then back to zero...Silent Option has fixed it for me but I like dragon center because of its gimmicks...like controlling it from my phone

If you got all Fan Curve Bars in Silent Option, it rules out the EC firmware...it's working properly so what left is dragon center....try to uninstall dragon center and manually delete it's all left over files / folders and reinstall it as Administrator and see if it fixes the issue. (make sure you have the latest version downloaded from MSI Support page)Atma likes this.

Hey guys. Today I reinstalled the system and all the drivers,it worked fine until i switched to integrated intel gpu to install drivers for it too. After that,i switched back to dedicated gpu and restarted the laptop and now all i get is black screen. I cant even open bios, its completely off.Laptop turns on fine, keyboard lights up and i hear all the sounds but the display is off. Is there any chance someone can give me a shortcut which keys or arrows to press to confirm that popup window once u press the gpu switch key. I can use the win+x+u+r to reset the pc,i just need to figure out which keys to press to confirm the switch window before reset.Anyone got any ideas ?
ps: sorry for the lenghy post. -
I had the same problem which was the reason i reinstalled the system.Fans would not kick up until temps go to high 70s,but before temps maxing out at 60 because the fans were acutally working.

Hi Boys!
I run my GT73VR 7RE-494CA TITAN with full OC (form Dragon Center) last night and it was all good. No glitches, overheating etc. that i noticed.
Is this safe to continue like this or no?
Thanks -
Do not you can use the advanced fan control in the dragon center
-
I think Try with an external monitor. -
No chance with an external display. Push the on/off button for 30 seconds. This help me with the same issue. Get this hint from @specialist7. I'm not sure but you should find the advice on page 391-395.
-
That is exactly what I said 2 days before ...
-
@Atma you changed the thermal pads of GPU...?
-
if both of us said it you know it has to be true!
-
creator update is the worst update from Microsoft during my life. I talked to their support team and the funny thing is they alwasy guide you to nothing!!! for example for the black screen problem the just repeating the same useless solution and didn't know that problem is because of compatibility with Nvidia driver...Papusan likes this.

my problem is with the cpu clock! it always shows -2.9 !!
-
Why, really why there is two "MSI GT73 7RF" category in download page in MSI website!!
-
does anybody else getting "Windows Activation" message or just me....
Error Code 0x80072EE7
Microsoft activation servers not available
Edit: ignore this, it's resolved.Last edited: Apr 19, 2017 -
Is it only showing in Dragon Center as 2.9?
Have you tried XTU...I like that one alot better...you can also mess with Voltage alot easier...I was able to tune the 7820hk to 4.4 with a 99.7% result in 3dmark stress test -
This happened to me many hundreds of pages back.
You need to reset the BIOS by holding the power button.
With the laptop off, hold down the power button. The button will light up, then go off, then will come back on again. Then just let it do its thing.Atma likes this. -
No I didn't. My back was hurting so much bending over the dining table I just did the CPU pads. I'll get the GPU some other time. I ordered a whole sheet so I have plenty.

Same for flashing new firmware
Not nice seeing re-flash to older firmware don't put your machine to fully previous state
You can even risk lower performance!! Don't be a Guinea Pig... Read or re-read the booklet
Will help you in the end

Thank you Kevin so much.Fixed it.Now onto the 2nd issue. Why arent the fans spinning up like they used to when i just got the laptop. Before i remember i would top out on 60c in games because they fans would spin almost at the max,i mean, you could hear em.Now,when im gaming cpu goes up to 75,sometimes 80c because the fans are just kinda silent-ish.... -

Hey Guys
Iam looking for upgrading the SSD and the ram of the laptop
I've got 128 GB SSD that comes with the laptop and it has the operating system on it
I have two choices in my Head both of them are from Samsung and with 512 GB , so it will be either EVO or Pro series ,if you can guys help me to make my choice,or if you have any other better alternatives .
and If I want to install fresh copy of Windows, how to get the serial number for the windows and from where to get clean copy of windows ,also do you recommend to keep the other SSD or one should be enough
Also for the ram i Want to add another 16 GB which models and what brands do you recommend
So many questions and more thanks for you guys
-
960 Pro and 960 EVO performs about the same in real-world use, not that you can really notice the difference. However, the pro has 5 year warranty and EVO has 3, that's something to consider.
The Windows product key is embedded into the BIOS as a digital product key, the Windows installation will read the encrypted key from your BIOS automatically so you don't need to enter they key during installation.
One PCIe SSD should be enough in my opinion.
For RAM upgrade it depends, if you are keeping the original 2400Mhz RAM then Kingston value RAM should be good enough since any better or higher clock speed RAM won't give you any benefit because the better RAM you installed will automatically match the original RAM speed on your laptop. -
Whats the best version of dragon center to use ? My current one that I installed has issues with fan speeds,as I sad before the fans dont ramp up like they used to when I'm gaming.CPU speed goes all the way up to high 70s.Is there any program I can use besides dragon center to control my fan speeds and crank em up to lets say 60,70% ?
-
I'm not sure there is a best version of DC right now. For the fans, you can use Silent Option. Works well for me.
-
cant open that link.It says site cant be reached. Is it a separate software or something in the dragon center ? If so,can you explain to me real quick how to use the "silent option" ?
edit : nvmnd works now.Atma likes this. -
I didn't think DC was working right with the windows creator update plus I started having some BSOD's. I did a clean install and did not reinstall dragon center. I just use silent option for the fans and Intel XTU for any overclocking of the CPU.GenTechPC, ctsweee, DukeCLR and 1 other person like this.

I think you have done more clean installs then anyone, have you kept track?Atma likes this.
-
I lost count.
I think this was the first real clean install. The others were using MSI restore or Windows restore.
I started from scratch on this one using the media creation tool and had to have drivers for my raid 0 during the install. Plus I had to remove my D: at first which was a PITA.
It seems to have been worth the effort. I have noticed zero problems since then. -
^ FTW....thats the same thing I did and I am happy with it...XTU's interface is actually pretty nice and it gives you a good amount of control...
-
i overclock the cpu to 4.0 ghz with xtu,put all the sliders to 40,but when i start the benchmark the speed goes down to 3.3ghz,u know the line in the graph,it just starts fluctuating.
edit : also the cpu is not overheating, the temps stay in 60-70c range.
See down when benchmark begins it stays at 4.0ghz for short time then it drops down.
These are the settings :
