I don't understand why nCrapia has Optimal as the default setting. Every time someone complains about low performance, it's because they have their power management on Optimal. Optimal puts the GPU @ 0 MHz when there is nothing drawing on the screen and ramps the clocks when there is something going on. Sounds great on paper, works like crap

when? once I set it to High Performance, it never resets itself

Make sure you delete all nVIDIA Telemetry Entries using Autoruns

just type nVIDIA in the filter on the top left, then right click/delete every entry that has telemetry in it

For Gods name... Close the door!!!

Edit. If you are a gamer... Learn to tweak graphics settings in games. Install only the graphics driver and physics. If you need to record and stream you could use Mirillis Action or similar tool. Give a damn in the rest of Nvidia's package.

That explains it then, I do a clean installation every time, I'll just have to remember that in addition to the Vsync/Gsync setting I reset every time.

My battery decreases from 89% to 85%. With conditions connected to the adapter. And finally I stopped playing games. Waiting for the battery back full

If anyone has experienced the same thing

i believe thats the normal behaviour for the battery. The laptop will "intelligently" allow the battery to run down and hten charge up but keep it around 90-95% charged to improve longevity.

Thanks guy. I'm going to try this.

What FPS monitoring software is best to use 'in game'?

I normally use the FPS counter that comes with Gforce Experience.

I tried CAM but each time I played GTA5 with CAM running, the game crashed whenever I changed any graphics settings.

So I kind of gave up with FPS overlay software.

    Ok, nevermind.

It seems that most FPS overlay software will be treated as 'cheatware' by GTA 5 and it will crash when used.

I had to add my copy of GTA 5 to my steam account and am using the FPS overlay on there, which works ok.

My problem now is how to get my DCC profile to run when starting the game from within steam. Any Ideas???

Yeah this was the last one I tried before adding my GTA5 to my steam account.

GTA5 just crashed on startup each time with Riva Tuner running. :0(

Did you try enabling Custom DirectX support in Riva Tuner? Or perhaps changing detection level

Personally i'm playing GTA V with RTSS on the background without issues.

No, I tried the latest alpha release: 6.6.0

I quite like the Steam one though.

I think I need to find the shortcut location that steam uses to launch the game and add that to my DCC.

I tried all sorts in Riva Tuner to get it work; I created a gta5 profile and altered the detection level.

Not sure if I fiddled with enabling Custom DirectX support though.

Is Riva standalone software? Or do I have to get msi afterburner too?

    Ok so... excellent.

Beta version 7 of Riva lets me start gta5 without issue. Thanks guys. :0)

But still no FPS counter on screen in-game.

I used the default settings in Riva, just as it installed. but no on-screen fps in gta5

Then I created a gta5 profile in Riva, still with default settings and still no on-screen fps in gta5.

    What am I missing???

is nahimic software worth using ? I got the cloud 2 headset which comes with 7.1 soundcard and it sounds really nice and crisp,i'm not sure if installing nahimic would provide me any benefits over just the headset.

Nahimic software won't work with other devices like your Cloud 2 headset w/card, you need to use their included software to drive their 7.1 card / headset.

Its not really true 7.1 its simulated. You could try it with the USB and without and compare the sound quality. I prefer the Headphone Amp that the laptop provides, it drives them much better imo.

I mean you can use the USB sound card that comes with the headphones just fine if you wanna keep using the mic, otherwise you'd have to get something like this.

    61seAWVgOTL._SL1500_.jpg

Mic quality will stay the same (quality of the mic).
Audio quality will be a little bit better just from the headphone amp.

Does the Hi Impedance Headphone AMP use Nahimic? It didn't used to support the normal headphone port.

Often USB headphones only have a USB connection option. Unless the 7.1 "card" uses USB and the headphones plug into it using a standard audio connector.

yeah the usb card uses 3.5mm ports for audio and mic,and then you plug the card itself into the laptop via USB.

edit : there is a difference when you plug in the 3.5mm audio connector directly into the laptop, its a bit louder than when it goes over the USB card.Ill see if i can get the 2 to 1 audio cable somewhere because i have no need for virtual 7.1 sound over usb card.
