Disable Desktop Partition from within the settings of MSI True Color. It's the most annoying thing ever
If you right click on the MSI True Color taskbar icon and disable it from there, it won't take effect, you have to be able to open the actual program from the start menu shortcut, then click on settings, then go to the 2nd tab, then uncheck desktop partition

Anybody here can suggest a very good gaming headset? I want it to be really comfortable and really feel immersive while gaming (or somehow close to being one). I have a $200 budget. Thanks guys!
Edit: Forgot to mention, I want it in Wireless with the wired set-up available like the Logitech G933 but a lot of people keep complaining about it having issues like random disconnection.Last edited: Apr 25, 2017DukeCLR likes this. -

What can you suggest if not gaming headphones? I need the mic for gaming, I dont like using stand-alone mics as I'll be bringing it with me. Also, I want it to be really good in games, I've read good headphones for music/movies but not in games. As I'll be using it much more gaming, I want it to be better with games than music/movies. And lastly, I don't like wired headsets, I prefer wireless but I just want the included wired set-up that some wireless headsets offer so that I can use it with my phone if it has no bluetooth. And the included wired set-up would be good during times that the battery is drained but I still want to use it. Any suggestion would be really helpful. Thanks man!DukeCLR likes this. -

Did you replace it with another pair of headphones or that was the last one you used?DukeCLR likes this. -
Wireless is great, but not in gaming headsets. You could use a nice bluetooth headset made for phone / tablet and pair it with a USB bluetooth controller (or if you have a laptop with BT built-in). I've gone through several of the stereo PXC550 and MM 450/350 Sennheiser BT headsets:
https://en-us.sennheiser.com/bluetooth-headsets
For gaming headset's Sennheiser makes some really good ones, with this being the current top model (on sale for $209 here):

https://en-us.sennheiser.com/gaming-headset-pc-373d
The previous 2015 top model(s) is much cheaper and probably just as good:

There are other Sennheiser Gaming headset's of note, still available, but without the 7.1 USB adapter, maybe that's available separately.

Is it worth upgrading the vbios to the latest version (86.04.56.00.3A)? Anyone tried if there is some real difference with respect to 86.04.31.00.0D in terms of performance or noise gain?

I'm in an unusual situation theses days, no room to carry headphones and I have been using a set of Bose ear buds, when I play on my laptop I use the built in speaker, at home I talk on a blue Yeti. I Ieft this set on the airplane a few weeks back and I will never see them again. Bose doesn't make those anymore and I have tried a sporty set of Bose but they don't sound nearly as good.HardCoreGamer4Life, hmscott and Atma like this.

Cloud Hyper X II. Has 7.1, comfy as heck, perfect if you are not an audiophile and if you don't have $400 for the best PLUS the colour scheme matches the GT73 lol. I just spent several weeks researching headphones also as I like to get the best bang for the buck.

I mostly carry my BT headphones on my head / neck, but the Sennheisers also fold up on themselves for compact carry.
The MM3xx series are the smallest, although I don't see them listed on Sennheisers site any longer I've still seen them for sale. The MM4xx series are a little larger, with the MM5XX and PXC5XX even larger, all of the same general fold up design.
There is a new series of HD1 wired/wireless, and some new full sized BT models of previously wired only models too.
The HD1 Wireless looks great:
https://en-us.sennheiser.com/hd1-on-ear-wireless-headphones-with-mic
The APTx sound on the Sennheiser's works well with matching BT controllers in phones, tablets, BT dongles, and the Mic's work in games too.

Damn, one of those headphones costs like another laptop LOL. Can I ask why wireless headsets are not great in gaming? I've seen the reviews for the Logitech G933 and it's quite good.
Thanks man! What wired steelseries do you have? It's just that I've had problems with wired headsets in the past. They tend to easily break like having no sound coming out from the left/right headset while the other works perfectly fine. I even bought tangle-free wired ones but still the same result.
Does it have a wireless version? I read that Cloud Hyper X II only comes in wired.hmscott likes this. -
It's just been my experience that the quality of wireless "gaming" headset's hasn't been great. I've tried out and taken back many models / brands over the years.
It's been connectivity stability, sound, mic, interference rejection, features / functionality, and build quality that have been the failing points - a few on each headset.
The Sennheiser's, and some Plantronic's are the only ones that have been up to the quality I can use long term, and I've worn out several sets of those too. They work well for gaming on PC's too.
But, I keep trying out new wireless gaming headsets
I don't like wires, but for headsets when gaming, they work best. Same as mice / keyboards, the wires are just more reliable and lag / drop free.Atma and HardCoreGamer4Life like this. -

Anybody here can give me the exact size of the screw driver for the 5 screws at the bottom of the panel? Also are the screws inside different from the ones outside? If so, what are the screw drivers size to be used for the screws inside? Thanks you so much guys!

I don't know why but using the SSE software I can't lit my keyboard of an uniform white, There are purple and green spots on the lower part even if the software is set to completely white. Is it a software or hardware problem?

is it possible to add another "line" in the silent option curve ? Like in between 50% and 60%,because the fan only seems to use the 50% slider,I can put everything rest on 0 there is literally no difference.
-
I don't know how
I don't know how you could add another line. I don't know why yours is different than mine either.
-
LOL....at least yours are positioned decently ..on mine there is a huge gap between cold and warm so the fan just keeps going up and down up and down...
-
Technically, you should and must have 6 curve bars....either EC firmware not installed properly or it's Dragon Center issue, which you can check by installing Silent Option, if 6 curve shows in Silent Option, then culprit is Dragon Center, otherwise it's EC firmware issue. You can check first bar...if it has two pointers, overlapping....
you have .108 CPU fan curve setting, I think you installed it, and if you downgraded the EC firmware, it will not change the fan curves....I tried to downgrade EC firmware to .107 but fan curve setting remain same so decided to stick with .108....
once you installed .108....no going back.....
Last edited: Apr 26, 2017 -
Oh yeah. I didn't think about it working with Silent Option.
-
yeah the first bar is overlapping,it was like this since i got the laptop,i didnt install any firmware except vbios. So pretty much im stuck like this >.< ?
-
There is no fix of this first bar pointers overlapping....this has reported to MSI by many users....till today....no fix....
1. Before going to any following option....Install Silent Option and check CPU fan curve bars, if you get same curve bars....it's caused by EC firmware....
2. You have the problem since you got the laptop, still I suggest to reset the laptop to factory setting and check if you get the 6th Bar
all above effort to ensure the problem caused by EC firmware not by Dragon Center...if all above failed and you still end up with 5 curve bars...and 6th fan curve bar is too important to you.....
Option One:
Dragon Center > Tool & Help > Help Desk > Check the EC Firmware version, if it's 17A1EMS1.107, download it from MSI support page...reinstall it...follow the battery reset instruction in the manual (which you can also find online on support page) Ignore the battery reset instruction which comes with EC firmware file....
Option Two:
If option one failed and you want 6th fan curve bar, you can go to 7Rx model support page and download .108 EC firmware file, install it..follow the battery reset instruction in the manual (which you can also find online on support page) Ignore the battery reset instruction which comes with EC firmware file....
You will get the 6th Curve Bar.
Important Note:
a) According to MSI .108 not compatible with 6Rx models but including me, many members successfully installed it on 6Rx models just to solve the 6th Curve bar issue.
b) Once you install .108, if you try to downgrade the EC firmware to .107...CPU fan curve setting will not change and remain same....so it's one way ticket...no going back...
Option Three
Ignore both Option 1 & 2, Contact MSI Support....Last edited: Apr 26, 2017Atma likes this. -
Not a major thing but is there any way to get the steelseries keyboard to light up as the laptop boots.
I assume it always takes a few seconds before It lights up for everyone after you login to Windows and the same when coming out of sleep

I wish it would light up when I power on. I assume it won't because it is software based. I thought about seeing if the person at the MSI forum can make a custom bios that would do it.GenTechPC, byron_hinson and Shehary like this.

Yeah. I keep my laptop in a dark area and just hoped. Especially when trying to login to Windows.

Anyone know :
1- how can I find out which one is mine?
2- how to install that?
thank you -

the first driver is for installing it in Windows, it's an EXE
the INF Driver is only needed to preload the driver when installing in Windows 7 which doesn't have native support for NVMe drives so ignore itpowerofviva likes this. -

Are your 2 drives in raid 0? When I tried to install a samsung driver for my SM951 drives it wouldn't recognize mine either while in raid. I just run them with the windows driver. I had problems with Intel RST after the creators update. I don't even use it anymore.
