I've already registered my warranty and I've only had the laptop about 6 months now. However, looking at the inside of the laptop it looks like the audio parts are soldered to the motherboard so they will most likely have to replace the entire board or disassemble the case and then do some soldering work which may be pricey.

Ugh, so MSI responded to my ticket and said that the service center will determine warranty coverage so I have to mail it in to even find out.

So it's up to MSI whether it was an accident or not?!
Did you send them the pic of the damage? -
Yup, that sounds typical, your doctor can't diagnose "you" over the "phone", you have to go in to your doctor's office for a visit for a physical examination before they can "prescribe" a remedy - and cost
And, as with the Doctor's office, don't wear any expensive jewelery or clothes in to the office, so take out any expensive expansions - only send in the bare minimum for function
Soldering isn't heart surgery, it's quick and uses cheap parts, but that doesn't mean it will be cheap, although I'd be surprised if they charged you.
Still, it's a small defect to "use up" your accidental damage warranty.
Then again, they might deem it a defect failure and fix it free.
IDK, looking at the damage, it's pretty bad, not sure how you could apply that much pressure on the socket just from "kicking the plug out", so I'd say it's a defect failure
Good luck, and please let us know how it works out.Last edited: May 4, 2017 -

Relax...if it is physical damage it will be covered by your No Ooops guarantee, as long as you registered your standard warranty within 30 days of your ship date. You do however only get one claim under that policy, so you may want to hold off until close to its one year expiration in case you have an even more catastrophic accident...just don't go past the 1 year...put it in your calendar.HardCoreGamer4Life, hmscott, Spartan@HIDevolution and 1 other person like this. -

If you registered within 30 days you get a 1 year accidental damage warranty. At least in the U.S. Not sure of other countries.hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

It is offered by Region. The USA has it, but you should check your Region to see if it is offered. If you are outside of the USA, but buy from HIDevolution, and get the HIDevolution Global Warranty, shipping will be covered both ways to send it back to the USA for repair. If you did not buy the HIDevolution Global Warranty, it will still be covered, but the user pays for shipping both ways...however we will send our international customers a return shipping label at our deeply discounted shipping cost, and just charge for the shipping both ways.HardCoreGamer4Life, Papusan, steberg and 3 others like this. -

It was a weird situation. The angle that I pulled the cord out was perpendicular to the socket opening so it must have caused some internal damage. Right after there was no obvious physical damage but the mic kept cutting out so I figured something internally was messed up. Eventually that end part broke off while I was trying to wiggle the plug in a futile attempt to get it to work.hmscott likes this.

So I don't know if anyone saw my post about my bench scores going down after a clean install and installing new bios, vbios, and the latest driver I could find from Phoenix's post. I decided to go to the Geforce website and downloaded yesterdays desktop 1080 driver release. This is what I got from fire strike
Edit: Errr. Haven't uploaded images to forums in a while and can't even upload the full image through photobucket. Anyways. I got a score of 18491 but it gave me a warning that the graphics driver was not validated by 3d mark. CPU core temps were 73c and GPU was 71c. -
Can you check led wizar -preset gaming. My keyboard still on in first light
Which is usually when when switching to the button that is in the middle of the light will come on. But this is notLast edited: May 4, 2017 -
LED Wizard sucks.
Tun off LED Wizard, and just use Steelseries Engine for your lighting configurations. -

Im not entirely sure, however after the windows 10 creator update i have noticed more frequent artifacting and crashing in games like heroes of the storm, and upon startup when i cold boot my laptop the screen artifacts and doesnt respond forcing a shutdown and then having to restart and business goes as usual.
Not entirely sure these are bios related problems but they are problems nonetheless.
EDIT: should mention i did not experience any of these issues prior to windows 10 creator -

Have you tried updating your video card drivers for the CU update? -

Have you disabled fast boot?
I had trouble upon a cold start with the screen staying black, or appearing like the graphics card crapped out. it reboot itself then works fine.
Unsure what to make of artifacting in games other then checking if you enabled GSYNC and capping your FPS or disabling GSYNC and uncapping your fps in game options or game config files.

Hi,
I have a new GT73 VR Titan Pro.
I am have the laptop setup to not go to sleep when I close the lid so that I can keep my game running at night (Black Desert Online).
When I open my laptop lid, Somehow keys get sent to the game (looks like the O and I key). I do not press the keyboard at all, but the game definitely recognizes a keystroke.
This is driving me nuts . Any thoughts how to solve this? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Don't close the lid...just set your screen to go off in Control Panel>Power Options when there is no keyboard use after so many minutes of your choosing.
.Spartan@HIDevolution and Atma like this. -
Well I could do that - but this is the first I have ever seen a notebook activate keys when you open the lid. I am trying to figure out if it is anything that MSI installed or not. I would rather figure out why keys are getting activated.Atma likes this.

So Nahimic is putting the Nahimic 2+ (2.5.6) on pause because apparently there were numerous issues with the CU update etc...
I personally have not had any problems with the 2.5.6 + 8105 combo located here for download:
Nahimic 2.5.6
http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/Nahimic_2.zip
Realtek 6.0.1.8105
http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/realtek_hd_audio.zip
Realtek + Nahimic
http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/realtek_nahimic_audio.zip
But for those still having issues they continued to release the 2.3.x version so the latest packed files is here, this one is updated for CU as well:
Nahimic 2.3.17 + Realtek 6.0.1.8083
http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/nb/Audio driver_6.0.1.8083 and Nahimic_2.3.17.zip
For those with 2.5.6, currently testing 8117 and works fine with it, nothing yet on 8135.
Introducing with Windows 10 1703 is Spatial Sound with Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos for those who want those features, it overrides Nahimic so any setting on Nahimic wont be set:
Dolby Atmos needs license or else it'll be a 30 day trial.

Nothing
You would lose your control over SSE, maybe default to a keyboard backlight you don't like, that's why I left it installed.
I only uninstall Dragon Gaming Center because it conflicts with discrete usage of XTU + AB/RTSS, but if you can accomplish your OC goals through DGC so much the better.
The only glitch to DGC in the past was them defaulting the XBoost settings to "on", which tanked idle times with load leveling CPU / Disk activity that got fans blowing when they shouldn't have.
This glitched some games and video streaming. It was easy to disable the 2 toggles at the time, and the next and future releases can with those settings disabled by default.DukeCLR and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

I've always had Xboost as default to OFF in every DGC version I've installed -
On my GT62VR when i first got it i had Xboost kicking in for no reason. It was then disabled by default in a Dragon Center update. I guess some old version had the option enabled by default, the version that i had from factory had also a nice bug where the boost options would disappear once disabled.
-
It defaulted to On upon first release of Xboost features, before you bought your GT73VR

Just installed the bloatware free Win10, thanks @pheonix.
Everything went well except I now have DCC and Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility reporting my CPU core clock as a negative figure: -2.9GHz.
Was there a fix for this? I remember someone else on here writing about a similar problem. Thanks guys.
-
Oh no!
Just did the 'update firmware' through device manager and was pleased to see it found bios update E17A1IMS.317.
I then rebooted to let it do its thing... a few flashes of the msi logo then a windows stopcode message appeared saying
INNACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE
now it just boots into bios in the Recovery tab (to the right of Save & Exit) stating:
ROM image is not loaded
ROM image update denied
Need some advice on this one.
I'm not going to do anything else until I get some advice from you guys.
Please help!

Simple, it seems like you were on RAID mode, so when the BIOS update happened and reset itself to the defaults, it's now on AHCI mode. Switch back to RAID mode and it should be finePapusan, hmscott, Atma and 1 other person like this. -
