Finally hear this coil whine....that's bad....fans should be like a jet engine (both should sound exactly the same)...yours is like a sharp "eeeeeeeTTTTT" sound

i get 100-110 both ways. left my at quick [email protected]/ 32gb 2400ram oc from 17cas to 15CAS
seagate goflex usb3.0 @7200rpm drives -
stock cpu thermals with ambient temp 25....occt dies in 13-17 secs and it stops. won't hold clocks at 4.1 goes into 100C
cpu sure needs a repaste badly -
thats cos you have 2 SLI cards.....double 660W? 2X 180W cards?
we are only with a 180W card.
mine only dips to 90 too....still i am sure its hybrid...thats a good thing anyways....cos it makes sense total system power is 400W+ (hwinfo64) on a 330W psu. -
I'm having the same issue....drains down to 90 and then charges back up....no bueno....
Hmmm...
I have it hooked up to a kill a watt as well....this thing is thirsty with not enough gas to feed it.hmscott likes this. -
his gonna kill it! i have ordered the grizzo 8W pads bought 4 pads enough? 120x20X1.0m twin pack X2 so four stripes.
u can send me pics of cpu and gpu layout of pads? need start cutting into shapes -
No, 2x130W. Should have been easily able to work within the 330W adapter but MSI decided to do that asinine hybrid power scheme that starts sucking 15W from the battery when only 306W is being used from the PA.
There's zero way you're drawing 400+W with a 1080 and a 6820HK. Maybe at the wall, but even then that's a lot. If you were, your PA would have overloaded long ago, because if it takes several hours to drain 10% on your battery that means it's drawing maybe 3W, which is small enough to be completely meaningless while still very irritating. The fact that the discharge is so slow means that it's probably a battery health thing rather than hybrid power. -
yeah everyone's hwinfo64 draws 400W+ for total power draw....must be error...can never work out why....and why is hwinfo64 having this bug...its been around long enough to stamp out false readings....
-
Yes, it's really annoying and it seems, that it get's worse every day. I think, I will send it to MSI, soon.
I have another issue: The Dragon Center iPhone app cannot connect anymore. It worked all the time, but suddenly (from one minute to another) the app says "Cannot connect to IP xxx". Mobile Connection is enabled in DC and the app can even find the NB in the network... Anybody heard about that?kennyman likes this. -
Is it possible to use an external GPU via thunderbolt? I may have a need to use an AMD GPU for an application that doesn't support the GTX 1080. I'm trying to figure out if I can do it that way.

Thanks. Did you use Cooler Boost? If not, at what percentage were your fans at?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk -
Maybe it's a setting in the bios that can be changed?
However, if it doesn't reduce your gaming time or kill the battery longevity does it really matter?
I'd be pissed if I could only game for 4 hours before needing to stop to charge my battery but so far I've not noticed any drops below 90%. -
I did not. Boost is ridiculously loud so I left the fans on auto. They were spinning around 55% if I remember correctly.ThePerfectStorm likes this.

3 stripes are enough both CPU/GPU, spare will be left.
not a good idea to cut the pads by seeing pic,
how I changed the thermal pads > put all thermal pads on chips from heatsink > now put minus 8 pad on heatsink without removing any plastic protective cover > measure the size > mark it> cut that piece out of the stripe with paper cutter> start with big pieces vram (will be less waste)
@iunlock ...you will defiantly change the thermal pads of GPU so when I changed the pads, found some pads are missing, very small ones, will be good to know (for peace of mind) that should these chips covered with thermal pads or not

how easy is it to work with this laptop? I mean, are all the m.2 SSD slots easily accessible or one has to dismantle the entire laptop to reach them?
what about the RAM? are they all at the bottom or 2 below the keyboard like some other laptops?
Finally, HIDevolution lists max RAM speed for this laptop is 2666 MHz. G.Skill RAM, is that the max? -
easy as 1 2 3...remove bottom panel 5 screws and remove HDD heatsink 3 screws, all 3 SSD slots right under the HDD heat sink.
2 at bottom, 2 on other side under the keyboard, not easy to reach there without disassembly, CPU/ GPU heat sinks must be removed....
Confirmed is upto 2800MHz but I think goes more higher like 3200MHz but not sure.....syscrusher, hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
Not sure about the RAM speeds but the SSD's are easily accessible, just the back panel and a heat sink to remove. There are two slots for RAM also just under the back panel.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Have a question,
If dGPU removed from it's slot, Does laptop boot with iGPU.....? -
If there is a option in BIOS to boot the laptop from HD, yes you can move the OS to HD....

i would also like to know this also .. getting an answer though is another thing !!
all this depends me on getting the GT73VR 7RF or the 7RE as if i can external GPU then i will get the 7RE as its like £400 cheaper than the 7RF and this can be put towards say a external GPU housing and say a 1080ti when it gets or even released .
I know scan in uk have the ROG enclosure and in stock but its £499 ..and its done by TB3 . -

Anyone know why I can't disable that ANNOYING desktop partition option when I open up MSI Truecolor? Keep clicking on it but it does nothing and never disables it. Tried to reinstall...same thing.
-
There have been reports of people using the Razer Core external GPU with a GS63VR thunderbolt port, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on our GT73 Thunderbolt's.
