Its easy, if you have TechPowerUp GPU-Z just open the application click the Arrow icon, save to file..Done (you may need to stop the GPU activity and screen may flick during the process > Yes)

Have you tried disabling G-sync and rebooting? Global V-sync?

Another black screen "cure" is to disable Hibernation / FastStartup / SlowShutdown, start a Windows cmd window - Run As Administrator:

    powercfg /h off

    Reboot.

@hmscott: Yes, I tried disable G-SYNC. V-sync I disable inside game, but I tried set "Vertical sync" to "Off" in drivers too. Hibernation is disabled too. Nothing helps :(

    @DukeCLR and @Atma: Thank you!

Now I have on my desk two MSI GT73VR 6RE, first is mine and second sent me MSI for comparison tests.

The second notebook have, I don't know why, VBIOS version 86.04.5B.00.82. But this VBIOS has GPU clock locked at 1443 MHz all time (Boost clock is the same) and Dragon Center cooperation does not work. This VBIOS is in DEBUG mode!?!?

I'll try to change the VBIOS, because this notebook serial number start with K1608N.

    Ok, I figured it out.
After I flash VBIOS (86.04.2B.00.14) from my notebook to second notebook (from MSI), second notebook works OK and is stable.
Then is my notebook is clearly defective!

Thank you for help with investigating.

    Wifi or LAN?

Where did you download the drivers?

I know the Wifi can have buggy drivers, I usually use an older one for it to work fine.. I don't use the suite. Now I use direct LAN and have had no problems.

I downloaded it here: http://www.killernetworking.com/ and on the MSI official site.

Where can I get the driver without the suite?

I'm now planning to make this and I'm currently shopping for the parts. Can I use a 19v adapter for this? I have an old laptop charger but it has a 19V-3.42A output.

When you said "Insert the other ends of the wires into the appropriate holes on the fan connector", what are these appropriate holes? Since the splitter has 4 holes, I don't know what the 2 holes you're referring to as the appropriate ones.

I also want to ask, can I control the fan's speed with this set-up? If not, what can I add/do to be able to do this?

Thank you so much for this!

Look at the fan connector pinout diagram. You connect (-) to GND and (+) to +12V. I do not recommend 19V. If you really want, you can use a 12V 1.5A voltage regulator, but that kind of defeats the purpose of using an existing adapter since it costs about the same. A resistor is an option too, but it will dissipate a ton of heat and isn't very precise. You can't control the fan speed without modifying the input voltage (not recommended, technically fans are only supposed to be 12V, although some operate fine at like 9-14) or using a PWM fan controller. To accomplish the former, you can hook up a potentiometer in series or get a supply capable of multiple voltages.

Thanks! I don't know how to do the last thing you've said, maybe I'll research some more about how to do that. Regarding the 12V adapter that you mentioned in your post that I quoted above, does it already have enough juice to give to the 3 12V fans to run at maximum speed? I've been looking at 2000RPM - 3000RPM fans (as I don't really care about noise), and I want to know if the 12V adapter is enough to run them at their maximum speed capacity.

What are you using to control the speed of your fans? You've mentioned that "I love these Noctua fans. Running them at half speed, and do not hear them. I do not need and have them at max speed. If I need more speed, I can also get it. My power supply is 15v, so my fans are overclocked. :D" in your post here http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...olers-for-18-alienware-laptops.593626/page-41.

    Thanks!

That's @Papusan, not me. The only fan speed control I have is using the USB adapter with 9V/12V switchable output.

Each Noctua iPPC 3000 fan uses around 0.33A at 12V, so 1.5A is enough for me with a 50% margin. Look at the specs for the fans you use to see.

So if I use the fans without a speed control, they'll always run at 3000 rpm? That's the 3000 rpm fan I was looking at, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KESS6O0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1H9NMCPZH97BO

I use an old 15,3v laptop psu. Previously I used Noctua fans and resistor to reduce the voltage. Pr. Today same 15,3V PSU but connected straight to my 3x 120mm 3000rpm Vardar fans. But I would not use anything stronger than an 15-16V psu (for normal lifespan on the fans). I mean 19V is to much if you want power the fans.

@Q937 @Papusan you can correct me if I'm wrong.

See @Papusan has different fan setup, he is controlling the fan speed with speed controller where @Q937 has different setup I think he is controlling the fan speed via voltage....

To make it more easy lets say you have 3 fans and each fan required 0.5A and 12V so 3 fans required 1.5A total and 12V, don't get confused with volt and amp.....

so if you have a switchable adopter like this one but with 1.5A support, you can reduce the fan speed by just decreasing the volt from 12 to 9 or 6....still you will be getting 1.5A but reducing the volts drop the fan speed.....

hope I'm not re-inventing the wheel here..... :twitchy:

In general, reducing the voltage will also drop the current for many loads, so you only need to account for the worst case current at the highest voltage.

Can I use this one? https://www.amazon.com/CUGLB-Regula...UTF8&qid=1487471258&sr=8-1&keywords=cuglb+30W
It say it's output is 2A max.

I'm confused though because there's another one https://www.amazon.com/CUGLB-Univer...UTF8&qid=1487471258&sr=8-2&keywords=cuglb+30W but it says (Negative Version). I don't know what this means and which of the two should I buy.

So you're not using a fan controller? With your current set-up having the PSU connected straight to the fans, do you not adjust the speed of the fans? It can be loud having those 3000r rpm fans at full speed with 42 Dba, right?

Planing on buying a GT73VR TITAN PRO-003 and was wondering if anybody has added a 2nd 2.5 inch HDD in the open MXM slot with one of these 2.5 SATA SSD to M.2 NGFF adapter card with power for MSI GT72
? And if so is it OK to run the existing 128 GB SSD without the Heat sink installed, because most other laptops don't have heat sinks on their M.2 SSD's? Just wondering because I have a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB from my old MSI GT780DXR which just recently let out the Magic Smoke and still want to use it.

    @Phoenix

Right on time...Just completed my search and research and the answer to your question is No.....You cannot add HDD or SSD or M.2 via adapter card with power for MSI GT72....

Here is my search & research.....GT73VR have additional unused HDD2 on board connector 12 pins.......(another member found this connector so credit goes to him)...you can find this connector under the heat-pipes of GPU heatsink near additional unused MXM slot....

    Closer look to HDD2 Connector

Now what you need is a 12 pin SATA Flex Cable....something like this

Now you can connect 2.5" HDD or SATA SSD.....

But why stop here, why not take it further.....you were talking about M.2 SATA...right so lets put M.2 SATA instead HDD or SSD

what you need is SATA III to M.2 Adapter

But why one M.2 why not Dual M.2 SATA with RAID 0 / 1 Support and push it more.....

You need this Dual M.2 SATA Adapter

Now these M.2 SATA drives tends to get hot and need Heatsink....lets add heatsink

    Option One Alphacool M.2 Heatsink

    Option Two M.2 HeatsInk

    Option Three

There may be more options but I found these hardware can be used.....

Note: The M.2 Sata Adapters can be used to replace existing HDD

This complete mod will work if you have right 12 pins Flex Cable....

You have any question, feel free to ask.....

    Good Luck......

Please i have a little concern about my gt73vr gtx 1080. I've noticed that everytime I'm gaming and have gpu-z monitoring in the background, it always reports vrel (voltage reliability) under performance cap, has anyone noticed this

These ones for the Dell Inspiron 5000 look like they might work as long as the flex cable is the same size and the pins all match up electrically to the extra connector on the motherboard. I cant seem to find any genuine MSI replacement SATA flex cables from any MSI model. The part number is NBX0001R100. Just might give this a try If I do go ahead and get the GT73VR. Thanks Shehary for the informative reply. Dell 5000.jpg
