Edit: Changed the windows key setting in the dragon center app. I hadn't noticed the pic you posted.

I'm gonna be doing more testing later but I thought this was going to be just like the previous test vBIOS (86.04.5B.00.8A) which locked the GPU Boost to 1645MHz for those having problems with stability but it also gave a more stable overclock if you were to add +100-200 on the core. These I have yet to test (86.04.56.00.3A) but so far it brought back GPU Boost to max.

So I just recently got the 6RF that I've ordered. I can't find the Nvidia Control Panel. Also there are time when I click on windows search and windows bar, it won't open. Can anybody help me with this?

    Hi Shehary,

Just understood now why my 3dmark benchmarks dropped after the VBIOS update. For some reason the OC parameters in BIOS for 4.2Ghz just went all for default ones. Was the flashing of the VBIOS the cause for it? Its strange...

If you are asking how to get to the NVCP just right click on the desktop, it will be one of the options.

Help! I just installed this nVIDIA GeForce Driver v378.77 to my 6RF and the screen turned to black. What should I do? Should I force shut down?

Just restart, I had this issue a few times, I now install my drivers a bit differently. I select custom installation then uncheck Geforce Experience as well as the 3d drivers, I then check the clean installation box. No more black screens since.

may be it's a some kind of safe mechanism to reset bios to default when updating firmware....when I updated the EC firmware .107 to .108, before the update, Ram was set at 2400Mhz and after update it's value reset to "Auto" which was default value and I again have to set it to 2400Mhz....so yes firmware update does reset value in BIOS....

I'm sticking with old vbios because crysis 3 crashed twice with new vbios unless some one report real improvement and give me a reason to update otherwise cannot take risk on laptop stability...... ;)

It's ok now. I just gently pushed that power button twice. It installed the latest nvidia driver and I can see the nvidia panel now. Thanks for the help @DukeCLR.

By the way can someone post the link again of @Phoenix lists of applications? Like the thread he made to see all the things you may want to download like GPU-Z, CPU-Z, Intel XTU, etc. Thanks!

That happens to me too. I thought that they correct that in last BIOS, but no... I had the exact same problem. Its the process of switching to the iGPU during the installation of the Nvidia driver (someone correct me if i'm wrong). My workaround is to wait a little bit and then push the power button to put the laptop to sleep. After that push the power button again and it will wake up with image and everything is fine again. MSI needs to fix this... its very anoying...

I just took risk and installed .108 on 6RF and it worked though I posted complete instruction how to install .108 EC firmware on 6RF safely in this thread

currently I'm using following vbios version which is also 7RF model launched vbios, @Maineiac12 gave me the vbios when he had 7RF....

I don't remember but I think if Ram value set to Default in BIOS, Ram will be running at 2133Mhz....but you can check RAM speed with HWINFO64 if it's value set as Default.....

Compare both 6RE and 7RE vbios and see if there is any improvement in clock / memory then it's worth to give a shot otherwise...as I said, wait for someone to report back some real improvements,,,

flashing or updating vbios is easy with nvflash...

Hey guys! Quick question, can I still do a Clean Windows 10 Installation even though the Windows 10 already installed? I should've bought the clean installation + the usb drive through HIDevolution. I regret it now because I can't use MSI BurnRecovery Tool to make a backup of my system (I think it's because it's not the MSI's original image of Windows 10). Is there any way to do this without using this application? Thanks!

If you swap the 1TB mechanical drive with any other drive, you lost the recovery image unless you clone the recovery image partition to new drive....and yes you can install fresh windows 10 home edition, it will auto register no need of key......

I didn't sawp the 1TB drive though. It's still there but there's nothing inside it. Is there any way to make a backup to a flash drive without using the MSI BurnRecovery Tool? Thanks for the info man!

recovery partition always hidden you can ask Cortana (click circle icon next to widows icon) > type Disk Management > click Create and Format Hard Disk Partition > new windows will open, Check 1 TB drive and see if a partition around 18GB says "Recovery Partition"....why you not able to create the recovery disk with MSI Burn Recovery....? any error.....?

This might seem a really stupid and nooby question, but can't both intel hd graphics and my gtx 1080 be active at the same time? All my applications run on the GTX1080, from chrome to dragon center. I can't change it in the nvidia control panel. This effects the gaming performance.

The GT73VR thankfully does not support Optimus. It has a MUX switch solution for graphics switching.

Be happy the processor doesn't need to tax more applications than what needed. The iGPU part will make the chips run hotter as well.

.108 is EC firmware and if you have no issue in Dragon Center Advance Fan curve CPU first bar not overlapping or if you don't want more aggressive cooling like 7RF or 7RE models....than you are good.....
