Worked in the past but with the last custom xmp profile not work anymore...laptop is in infinite loops...normally the laptop should do 5 loops and then boot to windows....

Cmos battery removed and first stick of RAM removed also without sucess to boot with msi logo, is strange that the only thing that i do was put values in overclock the ram...the screen really not change, fans are working but as i said the laptop is in infinite loop :/

Tried with another 2 sticks of RAM from G.Skill and its the same.

Hey, *newb question* are you able to overclock the 8850h? if so, are you doing it through the BIOS?

and, how much do you overclock to get stable core clocks and temperatures?

    Thanks!

@Ultra Male Weird, I downloaded the 399.21 driver you linked and it fails the compatibility check then says I need to update using the GeForce Experience app. Am I doing something wrong?

What do you guys use to carry around your GT75 in? I already have a 17" laptop bag for my old Clevo but I want a new bag for the Titan that I ordered.

Any suggestions? Or just any old 17" laptop briefcase does the tick?

    Everki Titan.
But you need to put some extra padding in the corners of the compartment (where the gaps are) to protect the corners from uneven drops of the backpack (I use a Slappa 17" Matrix sleeve).

Don't buy single kits. They suck. Buy quality. Don't try to bargain shop flash tools.
Those chinese made prebuilt clips suck and wear out after 1 or 2 attempts (Even if they fit). Like some that are required with the 1.8v adapter (1.8v adapter is required for flashing video card vbioses), I had 2 of 3 of them. One wouldn't even stay on, the other didn't fit (too thick). the third still works but is annoying. So I use my Pomona 5250 clip which is higher quality.

Don't try to bargain shortcut your way through life.

Is the red dot chip for Bios?

    Edit:

I also saw the white dot chip in gpu that represents the Vbios i think.

Sorry but I do not know for sure.
I only know which is the bios chip on the GT73VR and GT75VR. It should be marked with a red dot, but if there are TWO that are marked with a red dot, then there's a problem. Looks like one is pink on yours.
One of the two is usually going to be either the Aquantia (sp) chipset bios, or the Thunderbolt chip. I do not know which.
What I do know is that the thunderbolt chip is NOT bus isolated (the bios and vbios chips are bus isolated), which means it is not safe to read with a programmer. I can NOT give you any advice or tell you more at this point. Usually the main bios chip is a MX25 series (macronix) or Winbond chip, if that helps you. I know it is an 8192K flash size chip.

On the Gt73VR, it's a red dot, not pink. And it's positioned 'under' the MXM video card close to the ENE chip.

So maybe its your 2nd picture then.
Here is the one on mine, before I backed it up during a vbios TDP mod reflash.

Yeah, the red dot chip on my GT75 is in same position, “under MXM card”.

Im not sure, but i only saw one red dot chip in laptop. About doing a flash in VBios of GTX1080 not worth the work in my opinion...also i only saw people doing that in clevo laptops. About a Bios flash, the laptop cant have any power right?

No, always unplug power and ac adapter and battery. (CMOS battery is fine). It's not the power itself, it's that any standby power going through anything is going to destroy something if your screwdriver or Pomona clip or anything conductive bridges something

I don't know what you use for desoldered chips. For the normal Pomona 5250 clip you use the top pins with pin 1 being top left. I'm not an engineer, so I can't help with advanced hardware stuff.

Is it possible to unlock the bios for the i7 8850h and change the TDP criteria?
I don’t know how to so I was thinking of asking Svet from MSi.. seems like he’s the go to guy for that.

Yes, i will use Ponoma clip to do the job but i need know how to pin the jumper wires from 5250 clip to the skypro...its like you mentioned? First(dot in dip 8) pin from Ponoma is the top left in programmer like the diagram?

There are other diagrams showing this. Pin 1 is in top left. Pin 8 is in top right. If you want any more wiring help you really need to consult google. There is no "pin 1" on the Pomona. You make pin 1 yourself by lining the wires up in the same way.

    Hi there,

I'm really desperate....4 months ago I bought a GT75 Titan 8RF. The only problems: temps are really high when CPU is 100%. I'm talking about a range between 97-100°

I've contacted MSI, they said this is not normal and that the best thing would be to get it back to warranty.

But I see a lot of forum posts, reviews, they are talking about the same problem: higth temp between 90-100°

I don't know what to do if send the laptop back to MSI, I don't know if they will solve the problem in the end .

    CPU is i9 8950HK

You may need to re-paste it with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut and undervolt the CPU by -50 to -60mV

Do you mean that my PC has something wrong and the best thing to do is to re-paste and void warranty?

I think it's not the best thing to do....

On the hs the paste is not the best and most of the time it is dry like sand in the dessert.
And undervolting is easy done with the xtu tool which is installed with the MSI image.

Do you think undervolting will also void the warranty?

Are these high temps the GT75 normal temps, or this is just because I'm unluckly?

I'm mean I've bought a lot of PCs: Intel i7, laptos and so on, but I never had the need to undervolting, re-paste or any other things. Just power on and start working with it.

No undervolting will not void the warranty.
I even can change the paste in germany the factory seal is only to see if the Notebook was open by the customer. I only void the warranty when i damage parts of the device when i do any upgrade or change the paste.

Pedro, no offense but I can't do your thinking for you. Not trying to be rude here. But sometimes you have to use your own head and be sure you did things right yourself. Wiring labeled pins is one of the easiest things you can do.

THAT being said, it looks okay.

Is this the one with two 230W power supplies?
I know the Eurocom 780W was tested by someone successfully with this model, although that was just done to avoid lugging around two AC adapters.

Might be interesting to see if that smaller 500W+ Eurocom clone that's been floating around will work on this. The 780W works (been tested) but complaints about fan noise and ...uh....it costs....a lot of money....
I can't seem to find a direct link to the "smaller" 500W PSU, but someone posted it on either aliexpress or some other chinese site.

Its that i need know :D, when Pomona 5250 arrive, i will just try a “read” on skypro and then make a backup of original Bios. Because if i flash a Bios from msi website, will clean some infos(windos key for example) right?

    Yes exactly.
backing up your original bios will preserve all information.
And when you flash the "MSI" bios on their website with their MS DOS or UEFI flash thing, they only flash certain modules. The DMI (?)or is it SMBUS data is not changed. I don't know which. I'm not a bios expert.

If you force flash the MSI bios, it usually erases everything on the chip, so the laptop will still work but some tools won't (Dragon Center will lose some functions).
So its always best to make a direct hardware backup.

Having a boot loop issue where my screen won't turn on and it keeps powering on and off after a few seconds. What is causing this?
Before this happened, I was playing CoD Black Ops 4 and saw temperature spikes upto 84C (which has never happened) but it went back to mid 50s-lower 60s with the coolerboost option.. this happened twice and then after the second time the laptop went off and started looping.

    Can you take a video?
how fast is the power on/off cycle? How long does the power on cycle last before it turns off?
how long does the power off cycle last? (this is actually important, as this explains if the VRM's are tripping or not).

do you see the MSI logo at all when this happens?

1 loop lasts for about 5-6 seconds and I haven’t checked how many loops there are as I just leave it be .

There is no logo.. the screen does not respond.

I spoke to Zoltan over at HIDevolution and will be trying out a few things -

    • connect to an external display
    • reset the hardware components
(Extreme measure which I don’t want to do myself is the CMOS reset and I hope it doesn’t come to that)

CMOS reset is not an extreme measure.
All you do is hold down the power button for 60 seconds. You do not need to open the laptop.
I suggest you try that, and report back
(Note: you will have to wait 2-3 minutes before anything starts happening besides a "power LED cycle" which happens at about 60 seconds later, which is the RAM being "retrained").

Once you get it, when you first turn it on and get the initial Windows 10 Setup Wizard, it will prompt you to connect to a Wireless Network, click on SKIP otherwise you will be forced to login with a Microsoft account which I strongly advice against.

Also, when it prompts you to enter a password, leave the blank for now as during our tweaking session, we will need to reboot a lot and that will just slow us down.

First thing I want you to do to save us time is to right click on your start menu button, then choose SYSTEM, from there, hit Rename This PC and choose a name for your computer. (ie. I name mine TITAN). The name should be in capital letter. Some of the tweaks are tied to the PC name and thus, you want to name it properly from the get go rather than keeping the default random name which Windows assigns it ( DESKTOP-999-BLABLABLA)

Next, go to PC Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and perform all the Windows updates. After rebooting, check for updates again just to make sure there aren’t any more updates

don't forget these are the latest drivers: MSI GT75 TITAN Drivers (8th gen)

Then download and install TeamViewer then run it, it will give you an ID/Password which you could pass on to me via a PM so I can connect to you.

You won't be able to PM me unless I PM you first so what you want to do is, when you get it, just tag me by using the @ sign then type my username right after it with no spaces and I will PM you then
