Try re-flashing the latest bios again, I don't remember having issues with the option sticking once enabled.

I have another minor annoyance, I use alot of remote programs like Teamviewer, VNC etc, well when I close the laptop lid I have it configured to do nothing while plugged in, it ends up making my browsers go white and windows 10 start menu acts a bit funny? Like I'm not able to right click etc. This is a fresh install of windows and if I leave the screen open everything works fine. I looked in the bios for a possible display switch when the lid closes? But didn't see anything, anyone have a fix besides the disable hardware acceleration?

My M.2 heatsink doesn't contact evenly, its higher on one side.
I really don't want to start bending the 3 tabs and end up with pressure on the wrong area.
Right now I'm using a 1.5mm pad, any thicker I'm afraid of putting too much pressure on the contact area that is on the bottom right of the picture. I do not want snap in 2 my OS M.2.

So I was contemplating removing it and have air run across them for cooling, their covered, and air restricted.
Then I saw this and considered using 3 of these instead.
There are several different styles and thicknesses.

    Has anyone ever used theses?
Have the bands lasted? Are they rubber or silicone? (My concern)
Would thermal paste be better than thermal pads?

I guess the next thing will be making them with RGB on them.
Hmmmm .... Maybe for Christmas this year?

    Anyone try one of these?
Does the keyboard act as an air rout to the fans for cooling?
    Will disrupt airflow?
Will this impede keystrokes if it does not flex properly or is too stiff?
Hmmmmm ...... Maybe I'll try some saran warp 1st.....

    Great unboxing and benchmarks !

What I would really like to see now is the same thermal throttling test without Maximum Fan Speed On because I never use my laptop this way when gaming.

I play with the fans on Auto, with .140 undervolt and no overclock, fans never go at max speed and I generally stay under 80 degrees.

I wonder how the new gig would manage that for comparison.

Your sig says otherwise. Unless that was just a personal best?

This system all undervolted with AUTO fans would likely do pretty well but this will depend on the software you're running. I would use the custom fan curve instead.

Not sure what you mean. Temps are generally between 70 and 78 while gaming, not a benchmark. Best would be around 70, worse I had was a 85 peak, once. All this without Max speed, ever (unless I press the dedicated button).

Got the laptop since mid-December only. I chose this config on purpose, knowing something like this new laptop was probably going to come out soon, because I was aiming at low temps and one charger only. I'd be curious to know how the new max config would compare to that.

The laptop has been modified by HID Evolution and I undervolted the CPU with Throttlestop, I did not change anything on the GPU, and got these temp playing AC Odyssey, Doom, Subnautica and Resident 2, mostly.

Nevermind I was under the impression you have a weaker CPU then that! You temps are good, sorry! I have been staring at a computer screen way too much the last few days.

Uncorked gameplay without max fan works pretty much like most laptops. The fan speed scales to temps and I wouldn't be surprised if this model with LM had similar temps. I rarely see LM offer a great thermal improvement unless you have a specific fan RPM you can count on. Many times the fan speed is delayed due to the better TIM. This has been the case on every LM job I have applied to laptops not featuring max fan speed capability, so far anyway. With the G3 and the p650hp6-6 finally coming down on temps with LM and undervolting both CPU/GPU, but not by much.

This GT75 undervolted with MAX fan and the GPU hit 58c and the CPU usually in the low 60's after two hours of BF5 multiplayer. I'm sure AUTO would easily add 10c to both of those figures, honestly maybe more.

This is where things can get deep with the wonderful fan curve adjustments made possible with that software. With enough time and testing I feel like you could really dial-in something great.

I got a question for you guys. What is the issue of the laptop if it’s not turning on?

The laptop shows the red battery indicator lit when plugging in the power supply, but does not turn on. When you press the power button , nothing happens either. Is it a bad motherboard?

How are you having all these problems suddenly?
First it's random black screens, now your laptop won't power on?

A stuck EC Reset pinhole will prevent the laptop from powering on. This can also happen without a stuck EC reset button if you press it and then forget to plug in the AC Adapter. The power button connector could also be loose. There is some sort of undocumented black button just above and to the left of the "slave" MXM port. No one anywhere knows what it does, but Khenglish guessed that it may be an engineering power on button so engineers can turn on the laptop when it's not in the chassis.

No ..my GT73VR is still having the black screen issue on dedicated graphic, i'm thinking that the GPU might be faulty. Today the gtx 1080 seems to work normal ..even after a few reboots. Then it random does it again. lol

The laptop that does not turn on is a GT75 with an i7-8750H lol .. I picked it up a few days ago to see if i can maybe get it to turn on. It was sold as parts.

Yo, did you try cleaning the pins yet?
You HAVE To try that before claiming a defective GPU. I already told you two times to do this.
You ever seen those Nintendo DS carts that say "no cartridge detected" when the pins get worn? Or other cartridges with intermittent connections? That's basically what a MXM port is like.

    For the other laptop:
First thing is to check the EC Reset pinhole. Easiest way is to remove the case and see if it presses in. One user on these forums JAMMED something in there and made the button "always on", which prevented the laptop from ever turning on. That's an instant RMA unless he desolders the entire button.

What about the Watt of the 2080?

HWinfo won’t read the GPU at this time.

Lots of little software hiccups with new hardware. Hopefully it’ll get ironed out before I have to send this laptop back.

and an interesting point is that rtx2080 is cool enough(the rtx2080 in many laptops are staying below 75'c in use unlike many gtx1080 which will go above 84'c),so there was no need of such crippled gpu which has led to at least10-15% performance drop from PC --> Notebook MXM,not to mention max-q(2080 max-q are giving nearly the same performance as gtx1080; so no performance gain but only better thermal/power usage).
NVIDIA has crippled desktop replacement laptops by these RTX graphic cards

I don‘t care about the difference between Desktop and Notebook. If i would take care i must immediately sell my gt75vr and buy an Desktop. The most important fact atm for me is to decide if i buy the new gt75 or not.

What are your current needs? This was the big gamechanger for me. For the first time I am actually going for a thin and light machine, which is why I am going for the GS75, but before I wouldn't even consider it.

My personal needs were a machine that had good battery life, was very portable and thin, and retained my current gaming performance which I am generally happy with.

Years ago I would always go for top performance, top cooling, top everything and things like size didn't matter to me as much. I can no longer use 15 inchers as comfortable, nor see the "need" to put up with the bulkier machines. I love my GT73, but I want to try something a bit different this time. I was also considering the GE75 since it seems MSI decided to make a new line of thin gaming machines, and keep the GT as the top niche end.

anyways, what are you looking for?

To be honest the GT75VR 7RF fulfills my needs more than enough (i'm sure that the power of the 1080 will be enough for one more year) and if i would buy the GT75 2k19 version i would buy it only because i want it. if this makes me to a bad person i accept it.
i change from desktop to notebook and one of the reason was that my little princess with 6 month was able to give my Big Tower an push that he was waggle and at this time i had an gt73vr and my desktop pc. so very easy decision was take the gt73vr because the performance was more then enough to play my games
the main reason to change was the curiosity for the 6820HK and the gtx 1070 and the possible oc of them. since 2015 i had the gt72s 6qe, the gt73vr and now for the longest time the gt75vr 7rf with a little more than 14 months.
so i would say one part of what I'm looking for is curiosity (maximum oc for 24/7/365), another part is when i can get it i want it. i bought my sister the ge73vr 7rf raider and yes to be honest again it would be fulfills as well for my needs but i don't want it i want that top niche end product.
maybe i will change my mind too but at the moment there is no reason for this.

Hey, there is nothing wrong wanting top end performance haha. If you have the means, sure do it. The CPU got a big upgrade to a 6 core, and the full RTX2080 overclock has very nice performance increase over the GTX1080 :)

You are right the GTX1080 is still plenty powerful, which is why I am not worried that much with 2080 max Q despite the lower performance, they are similar. It's still "technically" the second strongest laptop GPU :p

    Hi,

How much more heat does the i9 produce compared to the i7?
Is there any noticable performance difference between the two (1080p gaming only)?

I'm looking to buy a GT75 and I wonder if there is any point paying the extra for the i9.

I probably won't add liquid metal to the laptop, but might make holes in the backplate similar to HID's mod.

    Thanks in advance!

The i9 can potentially get as hot as you want it and give you extra performance because it is unlocked. So you could have it run at 4.5ghz all day 6 cores, while the i7 will be limited to 45w TDP and up to 3.9ghz 6 core for a boost window that will drop based on TDP and thermals.

If you properly paste and mange the voltage, the i9 is the way to go for absolute CPU performance. In gaming terms, the difference is not that big, since both are powerful 6 core CPUs. You can probably get a bit higher fps on average but nothing ground breaking as compared to 4 core CPUs.

Why is it 3.9 Ghz and not 4.3 Ghz like advertised ?

Seems to me it will result in a much hotter system for very few gain while gaming...

the 4.3 ghz figure is for single core. Intel rarely advertises their 6 core turbo. It's all evil marketing.

What do you mean about the hotter system for few games? Regarding what?

As you mentionned yourself there will not be a lot of fps difference while gaming.

For the temperatures, when I bought mine I was told the i9 8950HK would get hotter than the i7 8850H under heavy load, so i chose the i7 8850H because it is cheaper nd I was looking for a cooler solution. Do you think this statement was not true ?

A tweaked 8950HK can get hotter. On stock both will reach similar temps but under full 100% stress, the 8950HK will throttle due to temp, while the other i7s will throttle due to power, mainly. Provided its a well pasted, cooled CPU.

I didn't even know there was an 8850H CPU. All H CPUs are not really any different at full load anyways, so its usually best to get only the HK if you want absolute performance, otherwise it is best to get the lowest H possible and tweak it.

As for the comment regarding performance: the same applies with every single electronics device upgrade. The HK is way more expensive, runs hotter and gives you a bit more performance. Same for GPUs. You pay a huge premium for lower gains the higher you go.

But sometimes you want THAT level of performance. Then only way to get it is getting a hotter, stronger device, or just settling down with lower than desired performance. This means it is entirely subjective and no wrong answer :) There is a preference for everyone and we have all different needs. It might not be worth it for some, but it might be the world to others.

i7-8850H is partial unlocked... As long you are within power budget (not all cores in full load) you could run with increased clock speed. +6 bin vs. i7-8750H

Everything is unlocked if you try hard enough!

But the extra 6 bins is the reason then. But both are still TDP limited then? The extra bins are useless in that case, as I am sure near 4Ghz on all 6 cores is already eating the TDP budget. So it will be faster in short bursts, and the same in full sustained load?

Not all games and software tax all 6 cores. Aka you can run higher clocks within power budget. And 8850H should be better binned. You can probably run a bit higher clocks in full sustained load with a decent undervolt.

Hmmm I am still not convinced, but I can understand why they offer it. I don't think they are better binned though, its always a lottery. But I suppose light tasks will benefit from the short term extra turbo speeds.

It's not like I trust intel anyways. And for some reason I am very fixiated with long sustained performance.

Not sure if he can run longer than 2.5 min on max limits but still better than i7-8750H http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-w-i9-8950hk-to-the-max.820711/#post-10773495

But yeah, you have the silicon lottery. And how OEM's handle their firmware. Everything can be more crippled then it has to be.

Hey, my previous Thinkpad had a 4th gen i7 with a hard coded icc current limit of 20 A. It was throttle city.

I had actually pulled the tigger on an i9 8RG ($1000 off of normal price) before I wrote my post, but had second thoughts, which is why I came here.

Now I feel I want to go with this one, but I wonder what thermal paste is the best to use. I do not want to choose the liquid metal route.

Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or IC Diamond should do the trick. The first one is overall regarded as the best normal paste but most good thermal pastes have similar performance. IC Diamond is often used because it is a bit thicker and works well with uneven heatsinks.

Any of those, and 1mm thermal pads, should do the trick.

there is the possibility that dual channel will improve gaming performance "drops" ?? cpu work well OC 4.5ghz 7820hk c1 disabled ,custom powerplan

    Hi @NeXt3R ,

Dual channel will help on performance drops (as per my experience, you should expect an average of 15% of improvement).
My MSI GT63 came with 1x16GB on slot 1 and I had the same problem like you are having now. I think RAM slots are placed on the same way as per GT75 motherboard, so I think this can help you.

Here's what I found and shared on the GT63 topic:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...scussions-lounge.815215/page-38#post-10846738

    "Hi Guys,

Finally got a brand new DIMM for my GT63 (Samsung m471a2k43cb1-ctd).
Fitted on Socket 3 (BIOS reports as slot 4 btw) and it is just perfect. Dual Channel working and a noticeable change on the overall system performance.

    Cheers"

In order to dual channel you don't need to do board flip unless you want to fill in all the 4 slots.

So, based on the printed information of the motherboard, this is what you will need to do in order to have dual channel working:
    1) Slot 1 + Slot 3;
    2) Slot 2 + Slot 4;

Slot 1 and 2 are below the keyboard (requiring board flip). Slots 3 and 4 are on the "easy access side".

thanks for help :) ,,i not disassembly again for now "socket 3 + 4 will not work, right?

,,stay on single ram ,,and test ram OC "2800" actual ,,possible get 3000 -3200 on oem crucial ram ? ,.i no ,.nb work good on LM repaste and OC ,,never get full utilization on new games
..,sometimes get small fps drop in same interval "its possible nvidia driver fix later ,,or game bad optimal for nb" or fps limiter bad work for now ,.on win 1803 work all ,,1809 still has a problem :D

    Hello everyone,

I have the MSI GT75 TITAN-094, this is a beautiful computer. Now I have the possibility to upgrade the NVMe of my laptop, but I still have my doubts. In the MSI webpage it says that this computer has the following slots:

    1x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3)
2x M.2 SSD Combo slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA)
    2x M.2 SSD Combo (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA )

I have two NVMe 970 (512GB). One is installed and the second one I would like to put it in raid 0 with the first one. To do this, in which slot should I put the second NVMe?

I also have now the possibility to buy a third NVMe 970 but this time a 1000 GB. Can I have two NVMe in raid 0 and the third one alone? And all of them working at full speed?

To do this, which slots should I use?

Thanks a lot for your help.
