So I went ahead and purchased a
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD to replace the 256GB Kingston, its time to retire it anyways.

I don't need nVMe as all that's gonna be on it is games.

Hello, I just received my bersion with the 1080 GTX for a nice discount.
First thing a noticed is that the there is a fan noise at idle, looking at the dragon centrer fans run at 1200-1300 rpm. Is there an update on the system that could lower that noise (options in the dragon center did not change a thing)?

You can tune fan speeds using MSI Silent Option (link is somewhere recent in this thread. Just be advised that this is not a silent laptop. Fast parts run hot and require cooling.

Perhaps you can get it into 0 rpm - but on my GT70 then it suddenly pops from 0 to 2000+ rpm and back when surfing - very irritating. So I stick to 1350 (lowest possible). But have a try.

I'll see if that noise I have is not from the non ssd harddrive by simply disconnecting it.

    Edit:
Result = Was the trouble, but seems to have come down. I'm keeping it.

Hi guys, it's that time again. Time for a new laptop upgrade. This time it's my 2nd MSI upgrade from my original GT80 SLI-263 I had oh so long ago.

2 years ago the first upgrade was to the GT73 Pro-866, and it's been a reliable and wonderful laptop, and when I first got both of those I posted my undervolting, OC'ing, and some benchmark results - and hopefully I'll do the same this time.

I'll be catching up here to get the best performance tuning tips - without re-pasting or any physical hacks - and looking for the general state of what's best to do with a new GT75 Titan-013 and set up the newest (1903) Windows 10 (yipe!).

I won't spend too much time on this as I expect everything about the GT75 has been discovered and figured out already. I'll be reading up here and trying things out. I don't talk much about my own hardware, but for the first set up and tuning it'll be fun to do and share.

It should arrive soon, so if any of you have any pointers, or lists of todo's, or suggestions to get it set up right quickly the first time please let me know.

And yes, of course I asked MSI if the 2nd upgrade can be stretched out to the time MSI releases the AMD CPU / GPU gaming laptop, but the answer was no. Either get this now, wait 2-3 months for the GT76 (maybe!) or other GT75's available then, or that's it. So, this is it. :)

Why would I want to get a GT76 over a GT75 anyway? It's got less internal storage expansion, a non-mechanical keyboard, a soldered GPU, and who knows what potential CPU upgrade options will ever be made available - probably none as supported by MSI - so unless someone creates / supports a custom BIOS / firmware with support for a future CPU there's no upgrade option there either.

I don't feel the need for a heavier hotter nosier more frantically cooled overheating laptop in exchange for bragging rights, or for a little more performance, for probably another $1500+ trade-in costs.

Besides MSI had a ? as to whether or not and when the GT76 would even be added to the trade-in options. The trade-in options are limited to what MSI offers and has available in stock.

MSI had 1 GT75 Titan-013 in stock, otherwise nothing scheduled for 2-3 months coming in as a top end configuration.

    And, I like the GT75, IDK if I'll like the GT76... don't you like your GT75? :)

I go back to Desktop so i will sell my GT75VR 7RF.
AMD ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X are too interesting to ignore them and using further turtbooks or taptop. I had an GT75 with 2080 here for an Review and the 2080 will not fit in the GT75VR so no reason to wait for more books with no upgrade option for my GT75VR.

That's great, yup if you had to choose the best place for the $ I'd suggest the AMD Ryzen 3 desktop too.

I've got 1 upgrade left, and running out of time to use it.

I'm not sure I want an 8c/16t CPU with hardware mitigation I can't disable as the CPU, and the 6c/12t 8950HK is tough enough to cool.

If I wait too long it might not be possible to get the 6c/12t model and I'd only have the 8c/16t H GT75 or K GT76 as choices - for a bunch more $ on top of it all.

I'd much prefer an AMD laptop option, but apparently not going to be available from MSI as an upgrade.

I'll check out the -013 and see how it performs, then decide.

Wow in Germany i had only one upgrade from my GT72S 6QD to GT73VR. And you got 2? Anyway i would take the 8950HK as you wrote it has enough Power and with an 2080 you will have a lot of fun with it. I had an GT75 8SG here for testing with FHD Display with 144Hz and with some BIOS tweaking from brother @Falkentyne i'm sure you can handle the temps.

Yup, in the US MSI advertised 2 GPU upgrades before Nvidia put the nix on MXM GPU only upgrades so MSI offered 2 full system upgrades to fulfill the promised upgrades, and starting from the 980m => 1080 => 2080 MSI honored their original GPU upgrade promise.

I actually like the system upgrade over GPU only upgrades. I couldn't imagine hacking in 1080 SLI into the old GT80 and the 2080 doesn't have SLI, so that wouldn't have happened anyway.

Along with the GPU's new CPU's and chassis / etc makes it more interesting, and probably cheaper over all.

If you have the notes / links for the tunings I'd appreciate it, thank you!

. The 2080 will not fit into the (into mine GT75VR it will not fit) GT75VR they change the mobo Layout and the Position of the memory slots.

Yep I did the same thing. 6C/12T models are cheap as many places here have them all on clearance. And pre-orders for the incoming 9980HK models are WAY above previous pricing, and outside of LM (which I don't want for multiple reasons) I don't see how it will be manageable.

I'd like am AMD option too but I don't like how you have to just accept the 1 or 2 notebooks (that you may not even like) that feature those parts.

The GT75 Titan-013 arrived, and it works awesome out of the box - all core 4.3ghz, still installing stuff - updated to Windows 10 1903 with no eventful problems, several cycles later got a new Nvidia update. Of course I created a 32GB MSI BurnRecovery USB boot recovery flash drive 1st thing.

The only thing I have special to report is I had 2 "tight" hot spots with the screen at the bottom edge of the screen, and I cured them by pulling out on the bezel with a forefinger nail - to release stress, you could see the bright spot go away right away as I had the bezel pulled out - I did this for 30 seconds then released it gradually and lightly and the fix stayed. The right bright spot was gone on the first "treatment". The left hand bright spot took a few treatments and now there is no screen light bleed. Sweet.

I'll install new storage and then tune.

Nice, no muss no fuss went right to work out of the box. I like it when that happens. :)

Yup, the AMD choices are narrow right now for laptops, but hopefully as AMD grows in favor with makers they will broaden the model coverage till 1/2 the choices are AMD or AMD + Nvidia or Intel + AMD.

Really would like a GT75 appointed AMD choice with Ryzen 3 + Navi 20 for the next go around.

This MSI upgrade thing has been so well run and fruitful, love getting the new case and features along with new GPU power. I wish MSI offerred it moving forward as an option. Trade-Up/In @ 12, 18, 24 month options with continuous warranty coverage, it's a great way to stay at or near the cutting edge, and MSI had lower range options too.

MSI handling the trade-in let's them find good homes for my old laptops, and new laptops come in and work great right out of the box. Couldn't ask for a more convenient and pleasant laptop upgrade experience. :)

Hmscott, can you please confirm one thing? In the other thread here... http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...core-i9-nvidia-rtx-2080.826953/page-14...some users say there is horrible inverse ghosting with the 144hz AUO 1080p panel. Have you noticed anything like that? I am on the fence of purchasing a GT75 myself but don't want to if there are issues with the panel. Apparently, it's not something that's driver related either. The it's a factory calibration thing where they went too high for an overshoot. Thanks.

Microsoft released security updates for all supported versions of the Windows operating system on June 11, 2019. Some of the released updates patch a Bluetooth security vulnerability by "intentionally preventing connections between Windows and Bluetooth devices that are not secure and use well-known keys to encrypt connections, including security fobs".

In other words: Windows prevents the pairing of certain Bluetooth devices with Windows systems after the latest security update is installed.

Thanks for the update as I wasn't aware of that intentional blocking by Microsoft though, as said in my post I have an extra usb bluetooth dongle that I tried on and it works, besides on the original bluetooth module that was internally included with GT75 8RG Killer AC 1550 I cannot even see any device to connect to after rigid scanning where as when I use the usb dongle it shows on the list plus was I able to pair.

you screenshot is tiny but uninstall your current bluetooth driver then reboot then install this one and try:

    Killer 1650X Bluetooth Driver 21.20.0

And while you're at it: Killer 1650X WLAN Driver 21.30.1.1 , also works for your card

Unfortunately its still the same, i have screen captured driver details for verification that I got the right driver. I tried turning off wifi too just to see if it will work. And also have the files unblocked prior install.

On next screen captured photo you can see that I insert the usb bluetooth I have and still able to detect 2 of my bluetooth headset while disabling the intel bluetooth that came with the wlan card,so I was wondering if it is a hardware issue?

    Hi guys,
I was wondering is it possible to downclock the CPU in the Windows 10 power settings when connected to power? I would like to use the laptop while camping (!) for copying videos and photos. I would have it connected to a huge battery but of course would like to reduce power consumption.

When I change the power setting to change CPU speed to 5% it stays in 4.3GHz, it never reduces.
If I unplug then the speed goes down to 0.8GHz.

I tried with another laptop Gigabyte Aero 15x and there I could just change the CPU speed however I wanted and the cpu frequency would instantly update with the power plan. I'm suspecting MSI is preventing the processor to be reduced somehow.

Also if I understand correctly there is no way to switch to the internal GPU, its always on 1080GTX, right?

    Thanks for the help!
    Andreas

You could try clean out old drivers with DriverStore Explorer. (latest version v0.10.39.zip). See if Windows 10's default driver will work. If not then install newest drivers. FYI. You should do that anyway afterwards whatever results you got.

See also the troubleshooter "Fix Bluetooth problems in Windows 10"

For general info about how to connect a Bluetooth device to your PC, see Connect a Bluetooth device in Windows.

I got a love for KILLER Networking Support page :) Maybe You could tag in @Killer_Networking as He won't see it after I edit.

I clean install my laptop already numerous times doing trial and error to no success.

First clean install of windows 10 1903 was done not connected to the internet , have all drivers installed manually (obtained from MSI website) tried bluetooth connection soon as all drivers was installed- No Success

2nd clean install same windows 10 1903 connected to internet let windows update install all necessary drivers - No success

3rd clean install of windows 10 1903 was similar to my 2nd test but after windows drivers installed i manually installed MSI provided drivers - No Success

4th clean Install same windows 10 1903 this time same with 1st test which is no internet connection all the way through installation, but instead I downloaded drivers from killer website ( https://support.killernetworking.com/download/bluetooth-for-killer-1550-windows-10-3/) - Still No Success

5th clean install this time I decided to use windows 10 1809 instead since bluetooth driver on MSI website's is for that version anyway. - still No Success

6th clean install was like the 5th test but this time using windows update drivers- still no Success

Provided that there is software I can use to remove everything like how DDU works but since I just cleaned install my system decided yo go on clean install every test since this laptop is way too fast.

But then I can't make the damn bluetooth work. Sigh and thanks for all the info hope you still got plenty of ideas left.

I’m out. If I find something I will of course post it.

Driver Store Explorer(RAPR) works as DDU.

Try google up what Microsoft really did with Bluetooth for their Pastel Tile Cancer OS.

Uninstalling the Bluetooth driver does not, I repeat, does NOT leave any traces behind. It's only the Killer Software and driver packs but for the Killer 1550/1650 the Bluetooth Drive is actually an Intel Bluetooth Driver. so you don't need to reinstall Windows to try a new driver.

Thanks for the feedback, I know its overkill re installing windows everytime though im trying minimize variable that might be causing the problem and also had fun since the laptop was way too fast. Unfortunately I did used intel drivers back and forth with killer driver and the one provided by windows update but to no Success.

When you check the below section, does it mention that it's "Discoverable"?

Yes exactly like the one attached. And also I did check on the option to allow others to see my PC. So I did check on my desktop and android phone if my laptop was discverable but nothing shows.

Check also if MEI Driver is old and out of date ( here is the latest). Not that this has to be one of the culprits but the ME is responsible for many parts of Intel-based systems. And I prefer that the important drivers is up to date anyway.

Try also switch Windows power plan over to High Performance. Not sure what you use.

My best bet is wait on responce from Killer Networking (already tagged in previous posts). Or just Contact their support. Here is the link... http://support.killernetworking.com/submit-a-ticket/

    Good luck brother.

Thank you for not giving up on this one I just installed the new MEI driver, still the same not finding/discovering anything and cannot be discoverable at all. I can turn on-off blutooth and wifi playing around with it to no sucess. I'm also using Ultimate power Plan activated through windows power shell. Really lost here man.

Yeah, hope Killer Networking can look at it.
    Tested with other Bluetooth devices?

Remember also MSI have own official support web page. Maybe try there as well.

I played a game and found that my cpu i7-8750h was hitting 90c on the package level, the room is 25c and the game was BF4 on medium settings.
Should I consider my room too hot or the cpu's thermal paste is not applied as expected from factory? Also the minimul temp recorded is 58c in that same room at some youtube streaming.

Hi, I have successfully unlocked and modded the BIOS on my GT73VR. Now I'm using the same method to try to unlock and mod the BIOS on a Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED for a friend. After I unlock the BIOS, and try to dump the unlocked BIOS file using
FPTw64, it shows the same "Error 367: [FPTw64.exe] cannot be run on the current platform". I checked the version of Intel(R) Management Engine Interface in device manager. It's 1914.12.0.1256, which is the latest. I wonder what can I do to perform a dump? Is there anything else that I might be missing here?

Use a different version. There are different chipsets. CM236 and other chipsets are not compatible.

Thanks! I misunderstood before. I thought I need to install a different IMEI driver but rather I am supposed to use a compatible FPT version that corresponds with the version of the Intel chipset. The Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED uses 300 series chipset. Once I downloaded the Intel CSME 12 for 300 series chipset and used the FPT version inside that package, I can successfully dump and flash BIOS.

However, now that I've encounter a new problem. I modded a lot of options in the BIOS to be of supervisor access and flashed the modded version. But none showed up when I booted into BIOS. I booted into RU on my USB drive and checked the BIOS Lock is indeed set to 00 on 0B4D. But when I rebooted and ran the UEFI Tool and IFR extractor on the modded BIOS to check the BIOS Lock, only to find it is still in "0x1" as default. I rebooted into RU several times resetting the 00 (even though it had already been at 00). But whenever I checked it in the extracted txt file, it is still "0x1" as default. But for the MSI GT73VR I previously unlocked, the txt file of the modded.rom shows up as "0x1" as default as well, but the modded.rom BIOS is perferctly unlocked and everything of supervisor access shows up. So I wonder probably the change from 01 to 00 in RU does not change the default as 01 but simply changes from the default "01" to the other option "00", which cannot be reflected in the extracted txt file?

Anyway, in the end, the BIOS was still probably locked for the Gigabyte and I don't know how to unlock it. On the other hand, when I flashed back to the backup BIOS(locked), and tried to flash the modded.rom again, FPT reports an error regarding protected BIOS. I still have to go into RU to unlock it again to be able to successfully flash anything modded, indicating the BIOS may be unlocked after RU? but not showing up any options with supervisor access? God, it's so confusing. Maybe the unlocking and modding method works with MSI laptop but not Gigabyte?

What are you trying to unlock with this method that you can't access with Left Alt, Right Control, Right Shift, F2 key combination?

If Overclocking Performance Menu / PLL Trim settings and SFR override folders are accessible with the combo, there's no real reason to risk manually unlocking.
The very few options that can be forcibly unlocked that don't appear via the combo either don't work, don't work as expected, don't apply to the platform, or can soft brick the BIOS.

The fact that you were able to write the bios with FPTW64 -f means that Bios Lock was correctly disabled.

Menus not showing up can only be fixed by help on win-raid.com. Ask Lost_Bios for help with that. I doubt anyone here would be able to help you.
Did you use AMIBCP 5.02.0031 ?

Sorry for the late reply. What does Left Alt, Right Control, Right Shift, F2 key combination do? There's absolutely nothing in the BIOS of Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED. No Overclocking Performance Menu. No CPU Configuration. No Power & Performance. Only some NVMe and USB configurations are available. I wanted to flash the BIOS and try changing the AC and DC Loadline to 1 under CPU VR settings to lower voltage as you instructed somewhere in another post. It helps tremendously with my MSI laptop. When I tried AC/DC = 1 on a Clevo P750dm2, the clevo will not be stable. The lowest it can do is AC/DC= 80, which isn't that much more helpful and I ended up just undervolting on top of that. The Gigabyte has massive voltage spikes close to 1.4V and limited thermal capability, and annoyingly, louder coil whine at some higher voltage level. I tried to set static voltage in Throttlestop, but the system will not respect its settings and keep ramping up and down voltages like roller-coasters. I'll see if anyone can help on win-raid.com. Thanks a lot!

It unlocks the extra menus in the BIOS that you were trying to open with FPTW64 and AMIBCP 5.02.0031.
