    Hi all!
    Please help me as I have not really find proper solution yet to my upgrade.
    I have a Eurocom Tornado F5 with a 1070gtx. I have bought a MSI GT73VR with 1080.
    I would like to swap the GPUs, as far as I see they are compatible. (for the F5 I might need some additional work, but I have already done this, I know the "know-how").
    My question are:
    1) anyone could confirm that the gpus are swapable
    2) what heatsink I need for the gt73vr for 1070? I did not find anything but I know the 2 cards layout are different.
    Thank you for your support in advance!

    The Tornado F5 can only fit a GTX 1080 pulled from a GT83VR - its the smaller 150W card with the VRM near the MXM slot, see this post for photos:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...6-owners-lounge.797128/page-191#post-10422719

    Now, the GT73VR should be able to fit the GTX 1070. I am not sure about the heatsink part numbers.

    Bad news :( There is no point doing if it is only one way swap :( I check the 1080's layout again, but you seem to be right :(

    The dragon center on my GT75 suddenly stop working today. Anyone experience same problem?

    Would it because of windows update?

    There's some issues with Sep update but not everyone experience it. Press Win + R and type appwiz.cpl [Enter], click on [View installed updates], find that new KB, and remove it. See if it helps.

    Thanks for your reply. Yesterday spent some time to investigate and finally rolled back the windows update and did the trick.

    Now disabled windows update after upgraded to windows 10 pro and hoped it will fixed the problem permanently.

    Failed to open dragon center made the gpu can’t go faster than 1800mhz (I guess because the machine wasn’t in turbo mode).

    What settings do you guys change to overclock to 4.2-4.4 GHz all cores? In the BIOS?

    And if I were to do it in XTU, do I still need to change anything in BIOS? My IA AC/DC Loadline, for example, was set to 179 and VR Current Limit was at 512...

    I can run it at 4.4 GHz all core in Intel XTU but it gets really hot. I noticed I can run lower voltages than are needed for stability in stress tests and benchmarks and games which are not CPU limited (most) will run fine at 4.4, and at decent temps, and without super loud fan levels.

    It randomly reboots though during other tasks, especially benchmarks, unless I raise the voltage again in XTU.

    I turned off VTd and other the other similar option in BIOS and turned off Energy Efficient Turbo.

    set vr domain to better result under load ,,set loadline to AC DC to 1 ..need add offset to cpu work ..my for 7series need 0.45-50 ,,after get working boot set vcore in xtu for working xtu test .,
    this setting will give you almost static voltage under load, no curves,vcore is lower

    ,.., like an undervolt but it's better ,,idle
    can be a little higher temperature than with auto domain ,,load is better

    iccmax set to max or correct to run all the cores all the time

    7series end motherboard can withstand about 115w for cpu with 230psu?

    8 series will be higher but I do not know how the vcore with cooling, I would stick to 1.3v max ,,, cooling is same as before ?

    I also got updated to the 113 bios. However msi still has 112 version on their support page. How is that possible? Is it unlocked or unverified bios?

    I have the same thing. Not overly worried about it though. For MS have it automatically update, MSI had to send it to them.

    So, I managed to break the M key on my laptop. It snapped off, leaving behind its two plastic pieces..which are now stuck in the two slots for the M key. Is there any way to remove this so that I can remove the two plastic pieces and replace the key (without removing the factory seal)? Otherwise, I'll have to send it back to MSI.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hey Mike, the keyboard will need to be replaced entirely since MSI doesn't provide key replacement reason being the whole keyboard itself is brand new and they usually salvage the defective ones. However, feel free to check with your local support team to confirm.

    Getting them out when they're broken like that is pretty difficult, especially since that plastic is much more malleable than the case. You could try getting a very thin blade (like an x-acto knife tip) in there and pry them out but there is a pretty big possibility of damaging underneath it if you're not careful.

    Pinging @Ultra Male for help.
    I believe he made a video showing how to remove these keys way back. Or maybe I'm confusing the steelseries GT73VR keyboard with the short throw mechanical of the GT75 ?
    If not, check youtube because someone did. You will need a jeweler's or glasses mini flathead screwdriver.

    Either way, it's a lot of work (fixing or replacing it).
    If the system is still under warranty then check with MSI to see if you can get this take care via warranty to avoid any unforeseen event, and to spare yourself the trouble.
    But if not, then go with the repair route which should be the cheapest option.

    I sent back the laptop and they replaced the key, but not the keyboard, so all is well again. Not sure how they managed to get that white piece off, but they did. Now I'm having another small issue, however. For some reason, whenever I put my laptop in Comfort mode (Idle) the CPU temperature will shoot up to 67 C and stay there but if I switch to Sport or Eco mode then the temperature will go down to 47 C. Is there a reason for this? Please don't tell me that I'm going to have to send it back again. I'm assuming that it's not the CPU since on Eco and Sport mode the temperature is fine.

    Speculation without more information but in Eco nothing's boosted. In Sport both CPU and GPU can boost, and the GPU fan's increased activity will help with CPU temp since two of the CPU heat pipes cross over and are cooled by it. In comfort mode it's only the CPU that's boosted so the GPU fan might not be picking up some of that extra slack. I might be misremembering how that's set up though.

    Yeah, that would make sense, but an idle 67 CPU temperature just doesn't seem normal to me. I'll keep it in Sport Mode for now.

    If you open the task manager, does the cpu stick to 100% usage at all times in comfort mode? I experienced that a few times and resetting the power scheme to default in windows (balanced power scheme in this case) should correct it.

    Ah. It's also showing 100% usage in Sport Mode. Eco Mode shows 50%. I've tried resetting each power plan (Balanced/High Performance) to default settings but that's not making any difference. Are you referring to something else?

    Fixed it.

    The symptom: the processor doesn't slow down (does not decrease its clock frequency when there's no need to work so fast, no workload).

    The cause: the processor does not enter the idle state.

    The solution: change the registry setting that make processor idle state setting visible then enable Processor Idle state.

    Steps to follow:
    1) open up the system registry: Windows Key + R, type regedit, press enter;
    2) go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\5d76a2ca-e8c0-402f-a133-2158492d58ad];
    3) right click Attributes in the right pane, select Modify, then change the value to zero;
    4) now go to Power options: right click the battery icon at the lower right corner of your screen, choose Power Options;
    5) press Change plan settings of your active power plan;
    6) press Change advanced power settings;
    7) go to Processor power management;
    8) open up the Processor idle disable;
    9) enable idle both for On battery and Plugged in modes.

    DONE!!!

    Note: the setting is only active for the current power plan. For other power plans you'll have to repeat steps 5-9.

    I see, I always turned that off when configuring dragon center. Similar issue to mine I suppose anyway but you had to go through all those extra steps! For me, the cpu could go idle once the power plan was reset but I no longer had any software causing issues at the time. MSI software is so great huh... :)

    I'm a little disappointed, because had I not fixed it..I was going to perform a clean install. Might not hurt to go ahead with that plan. Lol I get a lot of enjoyment out of my laptop, but it's ridiculous how quickly they stop providing support for their laptops when it comes to drivers and future functionality.

    I am not sure they stop providing it quickly... Imho, they don't provide any in the beginning either - they just release updates that are months behind win 10 current release and that break more than they ever fix. That was my experience - one should not have to mess with a laptop's OS to this extent, an OEM OS should just work. After all, most laptop users are not very knowledgable about tinkering with software and hardware.

    IF I was to sell my MSI GT75 (below specs in signature) bought in April 2018 in excellent condition ie stays on a table, what do you think it's worth?

    I think the condition is very good to excellent with usual wear and tear, keyboard and trackpad rarely used as I use external ones.

    Forgot about eBay, yeah just had a glance, UK section is sparse so checked the .com and I can see probably $1500 to $2000. Not including shipping and usual charges.

    I wouldn't be looking at any US websites for reference, since the prices across the sea differ a lot. Just consider what it cost new and how much you are willing to get for it. Here in the Netherlands those things cost new over 3000 euro and I could find one second hand for about 2500. While in US that could be the new price seeing the taxes differ as well as warranty (1 year vs 2 years here). Not sure how it's all in the UK, but seeing the brexit is still not going through I assume EU rules, taxes and warranty apply, hence higher value both new and resell.

    You are selling this unit within your region, right? So perhaps you may need to check what the price average is for your area.

    Thats because its a 120Hz display, the driver works harder compared to a 60Hz, so it heats a bit more, I upgraded the panel on my GT72 and being hot in that part of the bezel is expected.

    Couldn't find this posted anywhere, but AUO329D panel works in the GT75 8RG, brightness controls and all (tested myself). No G-Sync, unfortunately.

    Hi, hoping someone can help me. I have a GT75 and just starting about 15 minutes ago, it won't boot past the MSI logo screen and keeps re-cycling the startup about every 10 seconds.

    All I was doing was: I was going to play a game on Steam...it said it wanted to update or something, so I accepted and went to the download page. I noticed that it was installing the game, not updating. I didn't want it to install on the drive it was on since it was getting close to 80% full last time I looked, so I paused the download.

    I went to check the storage space left on the drive in PC settings and noticed the drive storage bar was red (perhaps because it was getting full?)...I double clicked it so I could look inside and got an error message...(I am sorry, but I don't remember verbatim what it said). But it wouldn't let me access the drive.

    I thought perhaps if I restarted my laptop it would refresh, and then I shut down the pc. When I went to reboot it, it started the startup cycle I'm having problems with now.

    P.s. please be easy on me - I am not very computer literate. Thanks for help.

    Guys how do you get the boot options to show while you are starting your laptop? I tried every key and none work.
