Hold the shift key (do not release it), use mouse to click on Start menu -> Power -> Restart.
Or you can try this method below too...

Hi all
I want to upgrade my RAM and I just want to make sure I'm doing this right.
Currently CPU-Z says I have 2 sticks running in dual channel (slots 1 and 3). They are Samsung DDR4-2666 (1333Mhz) 8Gb giving total of 16Gb.
When I take the back cover off there are two empty slots so I figure the manufacturer RAM is on the keyboard side. I'd prefer to leave that alone and not tear down the whole computer.
Would it be fine to add two x 16Gb sticks in slot 2 and 4? Will both sets of RAM run in dual channel?
Or am I best to stick to two x 8Gb and try to match all 4 sticks as closely as possible?
Cheers -
Also what does the 2666 and 1333Mhz refer to? Cheers
-
use 4x same module ,,disassembly can damage something ,.use hwinfo or something for current ram id ,,is better way

This may be a dumb question, but I am considering picking up a used GT75 Titan-057 and I am wondering if I will be able to upgrade the GPU to an RTX series card.

Hi Guys! Drafting on a new project and was wondering if I can add another GTX 1080 to make it sli with my Gt75 titan 8rg ( i9 8950hk model with two power brick). I have some spare heatsink and fan that I can customize to fit in, problem is I don't know if the 2nd MXM port will work if I insert another card. Any help/idea is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, i am considering repasting and changing the thermal pads. I'm wondering if is it okay to use 0.5mm thermal grizzly thermal pads on everything or should i order some 1mm thermal pads?

If it does, yes it will work, but you will need the SLI heatsinks. There may or may not be a power connector on the cards (i know the Clevo 1080 had one), but if one 1080 unit doesn't have the connector, the SLI unit won't, either.Elphie and Kevin@GenTechPC like this. -

Thank you for the response Falkentyne, there are no GT75 titan models with SLI configuration except GT75VR Titan 7RE SLI (if that can be counted- and was the source of my curiosity although it's a GTX 1070 in SLI). Anyway, although it's possible I realize that my project will be more expensive since the GTX 1080 in my taptop does not have the SLI connector on it( or was it the power connector you mentioned- sorry not fully aware of it) . So I might end up buying two GTX 1080 with SLI port assuming it works so the upgrade I'm planning is not worth the pain that I will be sending my self to. Just a shame since RTX 2080 is also not an option for this model and given with two power bricks I could better maximize it by adding SLI config at the least scenario.

on the motherboard no SLI connection is present
Here is a photo of GT83VR GTX 1080- same with the GT75 titan but this one comes with SLI port on the riser ( I assume that was it)

I would not even risk it unless you don't mind possibly blowing money away, and if you had money to blow away, why not just get a 10980HK and RTX model, since SLI is all but dead?
Anyway, does the GT75 Titan have the "Slave" MXM port even on the motherboard? The GT75VR has the slave port, which is why an SLI configuration is possible with the connector (and just shows you how much I know--I never knew there was an SLI connector on the cards). If the slave port is not present, that ends that instantly. The GT73VR CM238 version and GT75VR SLI and single card models use the exact same motherboard, with the slave port there no matter what. Just different SKU heatsinks installed for single card models. The big question previously was if the HM175 GT73VR could use SLI, as the slave MXM port is on the board, but there is no SLI version, and the HM175 EC version (17a1ems1.112) won't allow power draw to exceed 330W, while the CM238 EC (17A1EMS1.108 or 17A1EMS1.109, which is embedded in the BIOS and can be extracted and flashed separately), does allow >330W. But the HM175 model works with 17A1EMS1.108 EC (it's been tested), so...still no one knows.
Anyway question still stands: does the GT75 Titan have the second MXM port on the motherboard?
Also even if the slave port is there, how would you heatsink the cards? The heatsinks (especially the VRM heatsink) are different on SLI models than single card models.Last edited: Apr 24, 2020 -

Yes GT75 Titan has a second MXM port present on the mobo.
Regarding the Heatsink, I can do some modification and adding some extra fan since I have an extra heatsink from the same model from a friend's same model taptop but its dead and parting it out.
Anyway I'm throwing in the towel for this project as you are right it would just blow out money if I continue since my first idea was to just get another GTX 1080 and do an SLI setup but the fact that the current GTX 1080 card within the GT75 titan is not SLI compatible or should I say not SLI port is present that means I will need to buy two of those and not to mention countless possibilities of incompatibility with different card so I would go with your suggestion of just simply upgrading my taptop in the future.
I was under the impression thatt at first I can just simply insert the new card, buy some sli cable and modify the heat sink but there are are more variables to look at and to consider. Thank you for all the info brother.

Yeah sorry I know absolutely nothing about this. I didn't even know about an SLI port.
Your existing GTX 1080 does not have the SLI port? (obviously there won't be a connector but that's not the point). No SLI port means no SLI. since there is no physical way to attach the cable.
Of course if you were made of money, you could just buy the GT75VR version of the card and then buy the SLI cable, but then you would have to hack together a heatsink to run them. And that's assuming the Embedded controller would recognize the slave card and allow the port to be electrically active.
As @Papusan hinted, if you have that kind of money, save it up and buy the next gen Clevo with the Z470 (?) motherboard and 10900K or 10700K and RTX video card. Then you can sell your existing laptop unless you needed it for a backup machine.Kevin@GenTechPC, Papusan and Elphie like this. -
So, just got one of these, went for an GT75 9SF(i7-9750H, RTX 2070, 144Hz FHD Display 1TB SSD+1TB HDD, 32GB RAM).
Should arrive wednesday, and I will start with updating all the firmware, then a clean OS install, any known tips/tricks?
If it all works fine I will just not install Dragon Center due to all the problems it gave me on my GT72, at most use the Silent Option to tweak fan curves if needed. -
Hey everyone, just wondering if I could get some opinions on my recent purchase. I'm fairly new to PC gaming, having been a console gamer most my life, and never owned a computer with dedicated graphics or any real hardware for gaming. Not that I'm not tech savvy or anything at all, my main concern was always pricing. Recently that became less of a concern, and I decided it's time to make the switch. I heavily considered building a desktop, but after coming across a flash sale on newegg, I found an MSI GT75 Titan 8RG. Stats were impressive, i7 8th Gen 8850H, 32GB dual channel GDDR4 2666, 8GB nVidia GeForce GTX 1080, 1TB HDD + 512GB NVMe SSD, 17
3" 4K/UHD 3ms 120mhz display... but what caught me was the nearly half off price. Listed as originally $4,799.99, it was down to $2,499.99 (Canadian). So I jumped on it after just a quick overview of the specs about a dozen or so reviews (sadly i missed this site) and placed my order. Over the next 3 days anxiously waiting for my new machine, I started doing more and more research, when I came across this forum and started really getting an idea of what I can expect. I must say, I certainly wasn't disappointed. Everything came exactly as listed, except instead of a single SSD, it's two 256 in RAID. Never knew what that was, so quick google and seems it's better to go with 2? Can't remember the specifics but made sense, so I'm not complaining.
Since I opened it up, I've been nothing but excited, like a kid in a candy store. It's beautiful! It's a beast, but it's meant to be, isn't it? I've spent more than I'd like to admit on games in the past 2 weeks, and it just chews through it all at max settings. Wanting to get a bit more technical and see just how well it's handling, i started reading about heating issues some people experienced with their machines, to keep an eye on where mine's at, and I think it's safe to say it's doing just fine. Playing WoW, SWTOR, Rust, The Forest, Farming Sim 2019 at max settings, at 3840*2160 run smoothly, (Rust framerates drop quite a bit a 2160 but improve considerably at 1080) and monitoring dragon center through my phone shows CPU in the low to mid 70's, and GPU in the mid 80's, and idling at 40 to 42 on the CPU, and 45 to 50 on the GPU. I started to play around with the options in the app, now i'm using Turbo mode, with fan on Advanced, but adjusted some of the individual settings and now i haven't seen the CPU go over 68 and GPU tops at 75 during heavy gaming. Idling temps dropped as well, 30 on the CPU and 35 on the GPU, but the fan idles a bit higher than before, but doesn't bother me at all. Should I have it set lower at idle? Is the temperature difference that significant over noise? If it's mainly a noise issue, i'm fine with it, but if having it run higher at idle to keep cooler means more wear and tear in the long run for no real benefit then I would change that.
Overall, I'm personally happy with the machine. But comparing other models, different brands and newer models, I can't help but wonder... did I make a good choice, or did I fall for a marketing trick, posting a huge sale on 2 year old model, to make room for new stock? Looking back, I think the only thing I may feel regret is having a GTX card over a newer RTX with ray tracing capabilities. I've read that the GPU can't be upgraded in this model, so that's not an option. Any opinions, thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks! And sorry for the long post!
**EDIT**
I guess there's only 2 things I'm disappointed in with the laptop so far... both minor though, heh. 1. No stickers, lol. My first time buying a laptop brand new, still in the box. Know many people who've built desktops and see plenty of stickers on their rigs, or as advertising in stores, and I kinda hoped there would've been a cool MSI dragon logo sticker in the box, since I love collecting stickers. 2. Upon installation and setting up my account, I never received the 1 year free premium license for Xsplit Gamecaster... I'm no pro game streamer on Twitch or YouTube, so no big deal, but wanted to try it out and the best features are only in the paid version, so... been waiting a week for Xsplit tech support to go over the oem file i had to send them to see what's up, or I might have to try contacting MSI support.Last edited: May 7, 2020 -
Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
Just an advise , there are newer model laptops that has new CPU (9th generation) and RTX GPU for around the same price you paid for the GT75. -
Yeah, I started seeing those after I made the purchase, I didn't realize at the time this was a 2018 model, so started feeling like maybe I had gotten dupped with a sales trick marking it down so low. I know it probably isn't worth the original listed price of $4800 but I know it should still hold up for a while. Sure wish I had found this site first though and made my purchase through one of the shops I keep seeing.

I know you had posted this on a different sub-section. Send MSI tech support an email for the 1-year free premium license, I am sure they can assist you with this issue. -
Thanks! I went ahead and reached out to them, they responded right away and asked me to email a customer service rep dealing with promos so hopefully it gets taken care of quickly. Not that it was a big issue, I'm no pro streamer on Twitch or YouTube but thought it was a pretty cool app to try out.
And yeah, definitely when it comes to computers, things are outdated so fast... Guess just always gonna have it in the back of my mind that I could've still gotten better, but overall I'm happy. I think my biggest regret is not finding you guys first, and buying through your site listed there, GenTech, or HIDEvolution... seeing some of the cooling and customization options, would've been worth it. I really like the coloured MSI dragon logo options, lolKevin@GenTechPC likes this. -
You have a partially unlocked CPU, and the 1080 is way easier to TDP mod than the RTX series, because in the 2500$ price point you wouldn't get the 2080, so I wouldn't say that you got a bad deal at all.
I paid 2600€ for the GT75 9SG, with i7-9750H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD(2x 512 in RAID0)+1TB HDD, RTX 2070, FHD 144Hz display with G-Sync(that was a surprise) and Win10 home, and the keyboard, just that alone is worth the extra compared to other laptops with the same hardware, I would love to grab one with the 9850HK, but those are all over 3500€, way too much for my wallet.
First thing I did was update all the firmware(BIOS, EC and Thunderbolt firmware), then I rebuilt the RAID array with 64KB stripe size instead of the original 128KB, re-installed Win10, installed all the drivers, and started playing around with ThrottleStop and MSI Afterburner, only had a couple hours of free time to play with it, so far I'm pleased, but my tweaker side wants more, as always, but the RTX GPU's just dont allow any firmware mods, but I still need to play something with it first, should be able to notice the difference, coming from a 980m..
EDIT: First initial benchs with minor tweaking so far:
Also scored 3186(if I'm not mistaken) on CB R20, no screenshot of that right now.Last edited: May 11, 2020Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -
I have a GT75 8G (4k monitor with 2080 RTX). I am desperately trying to figure out how to enable the integrated graphics (630HD) on the intel chipset. Anyone know how? I'm trying to pass the gpu through to client VM but it causes the host machine to lock up due to no display adapter. I know the intel chipset has the integrated graphics - how do I enable it?
-
It's not connected to anything, only the nvidia gpu is connected to the display and the various ports.
And if you are using windows as far as I know there is no vm hypervisor capable of doing gpu pass-through. -
Windows server allows gpu passthrough using dda (Discrete Device Assignment). Or I could use linux kvm - but I imagine I'll have the same issue. So there's no way to utilize the integrated graphics for the gt75?
-
On desktop/server parts, on a laptop even the the dsdt and acpi tables are against you regarding such things.
It should be possible to use the igpu quick sync to decode video streams, but not much else. But that's what I know, and I can be wrong. Give it a go and tell us how it went. -
-
Is this related to special functionality of the intel PCH (vPro I think)?
CM246 has it, so it's a step forward.
But, I did not seen the iGPU to be powered, like in the LGA plaforms, so this feature is a no go in this case.
I would try this in a P750DM clevo which has the component placing for iGPU power, but I would need help with EC and BIOS support in this case so that I can start soldering the iGPU power circuitry.
Doing this with some default EC and BIOS is not very safe, cannot be sure how iGPU power management will work. -
For all that trouble you are much better off just buying a used NUC and carrying it with you, then you just SSH into it..
-
Anyone know how the GT75 8SG keyboard is "wired"? I've been trying to pass the keyboard through to a VM but doesn't seem to work. I see the steelseries USB but passing it through to the VM does nothing. I've even tried passing nearly every PCI device available to the VM. Still the keyboard stubbornly stays tied to the host OS. I've even tried going into windows and disabling devices to see what could be the keyboard. Nothing seems to work.

Hi, i just realized that my speaker without a sub-woofer one. I dont really remember which side it is on. It is loose. I can move it by touching it genlty. It still works but is that a problem? Do you have any idea how to fix it without doing a board-flip or something complex?

Well i think i could not explain myself properly. The speaker on the other side is not fixed and can be moved up or down by the touch of my finger. But it works well other than moving. My question is is there a way to immobilize the speaker?

A speaker needs to move, that's how it works, and usually the speaker enclosures are mounted on rubber grommets so they don't rattle and make annoying vibrations.

Does someone knows where to buy the Msi gt75 8sg/9sg with 8950hk or 9980hk new or used in Europe?
I sold my 8sf (8850h) one year go for the ge75 and I miss it. I don't like the gt76 -
Could this model fit a rtx 2080?? It just needs to be bios un locked right? -
Upgrade is not possible

@low9 i got a top msi gt75 on price check ,im thinking on selling it but so far very little about price range.
Its the gt75 9sg 9980hk with full hd panel but no warranty ,its in mint condition tho 8 months old.
Im located in Europe as well, from my searching these machines are ones of the best on market but theyr super rare.
If someone could evaluate these beauties id be greatful. -
Is someone still lurking around here?
If anyone with an 1080 or 2080 model is still around, can you please run RWeverything (portable is perfect), then click on the EC button and then post here a print screen?
http://rweverything.com/download/
The EC window will look somewhat like this, but with different values:
-
-
Different GPU layouts, so you would need to mod your heatsink, and maybe some BIOS modding as well.
Could you please run RWEverything and post a screenshot of your EC memory, given that you have a 1080. -

I'm only interested in some values, in this case the E3 value that in other MSI indicates the max power level that the EC allows the GPU+CPU to use.
I have a GT75 9SG with a 2070 and I'm planning on shunt modding it and if the EC forces me a lower power level I'm trying to figure what is the value that allows for more power usage.
MSI usually limits max power draw of the lower systems to 230W and the higher ones to 330W or more.
Thanks for grabbing the screenshot!Falkentyne likes this.
