Today the shortcut disabling the touchpad on F3 decided to stopworking. Any idea why and what to reinstall to fix it ?

It seems the culprit is Windows update and this driver : Synaptics - Mouse - 19.5.31.19
I rolled back to an image of my system taken just before this update and everything is back to normal.
I ended up rolling back because it seemed impossible to simply disable the touchpad in anotherway. No option in control panel, the option in synaptics software did not work, rolling back to the 19.5.31.11 version of the driver did not work. Even uninstalling the device was not effective.
I recommend not to install this s... -
Is there a way to limit battery charging threshold to something like 80%?

There is, with Dragon Center, or the old Battery checker.

Has anyone encountered a broken MSI logo when booting the system from a usb stick?

I have a problem with a GT75 8RG, i7 and 1080.
When it goes to sleep or hibernate the laptop freezes with a blackscreen. I have to press the power button to shutdown and restart. Did not get more info from the EventViewer or the Memory dump file.
Reinstalled Win10 when the laptop got a blue screen when I tried to uninstall USB3 Hub drivers.
I don't know if it is a hardware problem or harddrive, chkdisk did not report any issue.
I did not overload temps etc, I played a game like 6 months ago... -

I'll try that.

An update.
Same bug happened when the screen went to sleep.
I've read other topics about this issue here on the forum and for most of then there is no real solution.
Often I have also the steelseries keyboard light button that is not willing to change.
I had less issues with my GT72, more precisely no issues. Should I go to Clevo then? -
Hello gt75 owner's✌ I have gt73vr and I want to ask you about HIDevolution custom holes mod for bottom panel. Is it really making temp difference? Wanna make the same mod for my laptop. But wanna know is it really worth it

I tried a mod like that on an Asus laptop, there was some difference but mostly you need to bring more airflow. If you lift your laptop at the back by 1 to 2 cm you already will create a better airflow. Could try that first no?
Can someone tell me howo to reinstall the GT75 when it is preinstalled with a raid 0 setup? Would like to try a dual boot with Win and Linux. -
I have this laptop and need a little help in my issue, if anyone is expert in display problems please take a look.

Hello! Anyone who has GT75 with 144hz panel, please can you share the name of this panel? What do you think about it is it a good one?

Imo, colors were way better on 120hz chi mei panel.Last edited: Jan 18, 2021Pedro69 likes this. -
I'm looking to buy the earlier system with the 120hz nt fhd/ gtx series gpu after realising there is an updated variant with a 144hz ips fhd display and new rtx series gpu.
What else is different because they both share the same design/housing
I read somewhere that the rtx variant comes with liquid metal cooling. Is the true?
Also regarding the 120hz fhd tn and the 144hz fhd ips displays, which panel offers the best colours?
Do both the have G-sync?
Also is the same 4k panel using in both the gtx and rtx variants?
And finally does the GT76 use a totally different design? -
- Storage (3 SSD vs 5 SSD)
- Screen (120Hz vs 144hz)
- Heatpipes (Cpu is way better cooled on GT75 8SX/9SX than previous models) :
- Previous models : https://www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/_processed_/1/0/csm_gt75_6_7be3a04ab8.jpg
- 8SX/9SX/10SG : https://i2.wp.com/www.portables4gamers.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/MSI-GT75-27.jpg
There is also a 10SF/10SG variant but never saw inside
Imo, the new model is worth it as the cooling is better and I don't use 10 gbs ethernet. I order the 120HZ to replace the 144hz screen -
I wish I read your reply sooner cos I just spent $1500aud on one with the 8 series and gtx gpu
But does the new cooling design actually improve temperature in the actual world? I've only read good things about heat management on all the gt75, even the early ones with the caby lake cpus.
If so is there a way to install the new cooling system in the older system?
Does msi sell rtx gpu that is compatible with older machines that have gtx gpu
Is the 120hz and 144hz panels are interchangeable, upgraded to the uhd is also possible? -
4k is probably possible too, I never inquired -
I have the entry level i7-8750H cpu so cooling should hopefully be alright.
Does the i7-8850H or I9 use a different heatsink?
I feel a little silly buy such a bulky machine when other companies in the same period offer systems with the same specs like the Zephyrus g502m in a slim 15" form factor with the same 8750H and gtx1070mp
Does the gtx1070 run at the full 150w and form similar to a desktop gtx1070?
Would you say the gtx1070 perform better than a rtx1060Max-q find in slim 14" systems like the the Zephyrus g14?
Would you say I overpaid for my machines gt758RF with the 120hz display for $1500AUD? It is in mint condition and still has the plastic film attached from the previous owner.Last edited: Jan 27, 2021 -
Heatsink is the same between same generations. I9 8950h = 8750h if you have the 1080 in it.
Smaller laptop have the same specs but will throttle, have poor sound, poor keyboard etc
I don't remember what the wattage is but I remember it's possible to increase it with flash tool. And the 1070 doesn't heat at all in the GT75.
It will perform way better than a 1060 max-q.
I think it's a good price but I live in europe. I paid 1600€ for an as new GT75 8750+2080
It's a quite unique laptop, the gt76 was a downgrade on a few things and there will probably be no a replacement -
I'm facing major issues with the fans and high temperatures at idle. Worse still my backspace key is playing up to the point where I can't even use the machine.
My gpu is hitting between 52-55 just at idle and cpu at 62 for every cores. Fans are loud upon start up and remain loud for breif intervals at idle. Is there some of setting profile in the dragon centre to eliminate this problem?
And with the backspace acting up, it randomly assigns jumbled keys or refreshed a webpage like if I'm trying to type a post. I've tried assigning different a different keyboards and language which helps but goes back after a few minutes of typing. I've even system restored back to a previous point before this happening but starts acting up again after a few more minutes of typing. It's infuriating and makes typing a post like this impossible. -
I must the only person having issues with the backspace then.

or try last steel series drivers / ec reset

No errors in device manager
How do i go about disabling particular key and use another + re-task to backspace or custom touch profile? -
it's strange. If I press along the right edge of the backspace button, it works fine but as soon as I press the centre of the button, it starts acting up like refreshing pages, typing random jumbled letters or autos scrolling down to bottom of a webpage. The button doesn't look to be damage, clicks just fine.

or disable this key fully ..,.,and use "backspace"" on any other key
all is possitible on this SW

open steelseries/keyboard/ key bindings/

But I want get down to the root of the problem instead of having to reassign or disable the key together. The backspace is made bigger for a reason, there is no substitute with other buttons. I've tried restoring back to a previous point, uninstalling keyboard drivers from resource manager, updating the bios and still nothing. Maybe if I uninstall the steel series software will solve the issue. This is starting to look like a hardware fault.
P.S. It seems pressing the backspace is causing the spacebar to stop working sigh. Just great. I don't care for fancy special key arrangement, just want the basic button working so I can be productive. Is this too much to ask for premium laptop that prides itself as a the best machinal keyboard on any portable systemLast edited: Feb 14, 2021 -

sometimes helps EC reset or full cmos

cmos - 30s power button when nb run --but lost all your custom configuration in bios !!! -
Well I bought it used just over 2 weeks ago and had it delivered in its original box which is pretty well protected. The system looks like new, with film still on palmrest. The seller told me he always had it connected to an external monitor and keyboard. Maybe it's a loose flex cable that the owner never noticed over his years of ownership. I guess I could also use with an external keyboard but that defeats the purpose of buying a think and heavy laptop with a mechanical keyboard.
Haven't never flashes or modified anything in the bios so I'm going to try the EC reset. If this doesn't work, in going to return it as I'm still within the time frame for a refund. -
Any idea how to check why laptop is not resuming from a screen or system sleep?

Updated to 461.40 from January. Will see if the same issue reappears. Had done a clean install for that particular problem, I don't know what the old driver was before formatting.
Funny I don't have this issue on Linux Mint; -
466.27 install works fine // my is GT75 7re 20h2 964build
no problem
edit -
Happend again with the new drivers installed.

I have a friend who is may pick one of these up locally, the model he would be purchasing is with an 8950hk and a 1080, but it only comes with one 330w power adapter. My main question would be is a single 330w power adapter enough for the 8950hk and 1080? And if not, how much would it cost to get two 230w power adapters alongside the 2 to 1 power jack thing that is needed with two power adapters?

8950HK is 45W like my 7820HK - 330W is enough.
