Gt80 probably won't be in till next week - anyone have any ideas on what to do?

Would someone who has the 980M Skylake version mind checking to see how much power they can make the AC adapter pull from the wall and whether or not it starts draining battery? Thanks! I'd also like to check a 980M Haswell/Broadwell version too, if someone would like to help me out.

Hey all, this is a bit of an odd question, but does anyone get random crashes on the Origin client? It only happens on my GT80 Titan SLI-263 running Windows 10 and will seemingly happen at random. It's not a very big deal, but I think it is the cause of some issues I am having in battlefield. I can't seem to find anybody with my exact issue, so sorry if this question seems out of place.

I've never had a crash on my SLI-263 Origin Client on Windows 8.1. It updates occasionally, have you seen any start time updates? If you disabled updates, re-enable them.

Maybe file a bug report with Origin support?

Maybe go back to Windows 8.1 again, and live with a stable OS while everyone gets their Windows 10 support ironed out?

Killer networks just got a stable Wifi driver published today, after how many months since Windows 10 released?

Same for Nvidia, it's taken a long time to get a good driver, 361.43, and for some it's still not stable on Windows 10. Others are reporting it's good for them on Windows 10.

There are likely going to be Windows 10 related issues for many things for quite a while longer.

I am having pat send me some benchmark results before they ship or do final testing to verify it was pasted properly (Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra) and runs to spec. Will post those results tomorrow.

You are probably right. I just updated my killer drivers which seemed to fix my internet. The origin issue isn't a very big deal for me, so I think I can live with it. It only seems to affect battlefield.

Yes, his scores look good given the 6820HK at stock defaults.

My GT80 SLi-263 5950HQ Broadwell stock was about 1500 pt's higher. But, that was likely due to the CPU score.

The 6820HK runs slowest of the Skylake parts due to it's stock under clock defaults. It doesn't shine until it gets OC'd to 4.0ghz.

The temps already look solid - I don't see a reason to re-paste. The GPU hitting 85c is high, but we don't really know what kicked it up there.

That's why it's best to get a laptop and run it with stock paste for a while so you know what to expect before re-pasting.

You need to be able to re-create exactly what brings the temp's up the highest.

So when you re-paste, you can run exactly what generated the highest temps so you can re-create exactly the test required to reach that highest temp - so you can see a measureable difference.

Otherwise you can just quote what ever you like. That's why you hear people say they reduced temps by 10C-20C. Impossible, but there is no data to prove/disprove it.

Also, laptop cooling parts flex when moved / shipped. And, laptops get moved around a lot - including now when shipping it after re-pasting. So be sure to test again using their stated tests to see if it got worse in shipment.

You might want to order some CLU as backup in case you need to re-paste it :)

Well I figured that if they were gonna run benchmarks anyways, another 5 minutes wouldn't hurt. D: Plus he might want to know whether or not his laptop suffers from the same throttling issue.

I gotta say, you guys need to step up your game, all spinning and hand holding aside, stuff is taking too long to get in/out the door, and it's not just my perception, there are lots of buyers remorse being posted.

Keep on tightening up the ship and making customers happy, and it will all be a thing of the past :)

You depended on them to get it done right, they didn't and should have caught the problem before the Haptics device was ordered. You live and learn, but then again, that was their job to do right the first time.

You don't deserve to take any blame.

@mason2smart for 3.3GHz your CB R15 score looks fine although I'm a little surprised with an unlocked processor that it was not run at 4GHz or more, but maybe that's just me.

For pre and post CLU application I personally would like to see a substantial load for at least ten minutes with graph of temperatures noting ambient temps too if that is part of the service.

Yeah, that's the game plan. End of last year, the new website launched, making checkout and payment processing easier. Also made improvements in the production process. We have been hiring people in about every department. I know there are some other changes we are planning on rolling out to improve in other internal processes. Definitely working to improve in all areas.

so new driver came out today for NVidia, I'm still getting that terrible screen tearing, anyone have a thought on what driver I can go back to? Or do I just have to try them one by one? I don't remember when this all started. In fact, how do I even go back to an older driver? I've never done that before.

When you do a Custom=>Clean install, all of your 3d settings changes are lost, you need to re-configure all the Nvidia settings you changed. I would start there.

dont forget to set it to use advanced 3d settings..JPG
nvidia 3d settings quality performance #1.JPG
nvidia 3d settings quality performance #2.JPG

I haven't tried the new driver yet, I saw the availability, but 361.43 is working fine for me on AC power, I will wait to test the newer driver after some more reports come in.

359.00, 359.06, 359.12 and the elusive 359.14 seem to be the consensus choice for recent stable drivers on Windows 10.

For Windows 8.1 361.43 runs ok for many, except for display driver crashes on battery - so I switch my GT80 to use Intel iGPU when booting on battery.

If you are getting tearing on 1 game, or even a couple, try reconfiguring the game video options. Try running w/without vsync - I run without and set an FPS limit in Rivatuner.

MSI Afterburner comes with Rivatuner to limit FPS - among other things like display frame rate, GPU/CPU info, etc - I have mine set to 101 FPS as I have the screen refresh set to 100hz. If you are using 60hz, then set the limit FPS to 61 - generally +1 works better than exactly on the screen refresh rate.

Thank you for the assistance, let me describe the issue a bit more, because I wouldn't call it exactly syncing issues but something similar. Its more like a line that goes across the screen often like a sync issue, but that looks a little aritifacti- if that makes sense lol. My temps are fine, it makes the game stutter a bit sometimes, but yes its pretty much every game, I'm hoping this isn't a hardware issue but when I think artifacts I think temps and I don't know what else to do. But it only happens when the game is in motion, not on menus screens or on the os or anything.

Yeah, I saw that in Witcher 3 - but I got rid of it with the FPS limiter +1 over screen sync, give that a try.

Also, I also played with some of the Witcher 3 post processing options, but turning off vsync and using the limiter is what I recall fixed it. :)

Once you get a good driver, good settings, try to save them in case you need to recreate them. The FPS limiter and my Nvidia 3D settings are holding good for all my games so far. :)

ok I'll try the limiter thing, also in settings it yes my monitors refresh rate is 59.9, but I've seen that before so I don't think that's the problem

    Actually, it's related.

Try setting a Custom Resolution - you only vary the refresh rate - to 60hz, and while you are there create from 100hz down to 70hz in 5hz drops, I use that to tune as closely as possible the max frame rate and custom set the game FPS limit in Rivatuner.

It's a pain to redo all the Custom Nvidia settings when you get a new Nvidia driver, so pick one out of the 359.00 series that you want to stick with for a while :)

And, don't forget to turn off vsync in the game(s), and set Frame rate to 0/Unlimited.

Are you on Windows 8.1 or 10?

Variations between runs are common, and at times you will get a really high result, or a really low result, and never be able to repeat it.

That's why I suggest running them a number of times, throwing out the top/bottom passes and average out values.

That way you get a more accurate idea when things change.

Windows is a multi-tasking OS, you have dozens of services running at once.

Then you have Time of Day differences, with lots of different scheduled tasks firing off at different times. Not just by the OS, but by other tools trying organize or update themselves.

A single run isn't enough data points.

Yeah, the only thing I don't like is the large difference in GPU temps. Something's not right. It is normal to see around 10C difference but that's too much of a difference.

It's interesting to see how the CPU cores have quite lower temps than the package itself. I suppose this is something about skylake? Mine tend to be similar temps but at least as high, just more uniform.
