Try reinstalling them again. It is weird that the control panel is not showing. You are running on the dedicated GPUs and not intel iGPU right?

I have the same issue -
mason2smart Notebook Virtuoso
sjnce my laptop got run over by a robot (long story) I may get the pascal one and send my laptop back for accidental damage repair.
I may be willing to sell it for $2,500 or so... No hdd, no ram or I may take the hdd and ram from the pascal model and sell it with those for additional $$ -
Does it work? Despite being run over.

Well guys, recently had an issue with a graphics card in my Titan, but it is on its way to MSI for repairs, hopefully they don't take out any of my Xotic PC parts or it will be longer for it to return. While I am waiting for it, I have been looking for a headset to get, any opinions? I am willing to spend up to $200, and have been looking at audio technica AD900x, but I am just not sure. I have a pair of Astro A50s for my Xbox and love them, however, I am not a fan of constantly unplugging and plugging all the cords into each device. Let me know what you guys think.. Thanks!

If you bought through retail, or through a dealer that is a box seller - don't do upgrades, you work directly with MSI yourself.
In that case, you are supposed to remove all non-stock parts from the laptop before sending it. That way they don't disappear during the repairs. MSI prefers to support the stock configuration only for RMA.
I also recommend removing your data disks - even boot SSD's - as they often will get reloaded with the Recovery image - the original out of the box install as part of the RMA work.
MSI has recently been installing a Windows 10 recovery image - overwriting Windows 8.1 original shipping OS as part of the RMA. Apparently they only want to work with one set of tools, and since they need to support new hardware that ships with Windows 10 only, they are using Windows 10 for RMA work.
XoticPC should have warned you about all this before you sent in the laptop directly to MSI, if that's what happened.mason2smart likes this. -
It looks like the next generation Intel CPU's, the 7th generation, Kaby Lake, won't hit the streets - at least for us in the performance desktop and laptop arena, until Week 50 and 51 of 2016 and week 9 and 10 of 2017.
The Kaby Lake release is shifted a few months from the Skylake release, so it will come over a year after Skylake. Which means we may not see new high performance Kaby Lake laptops until well into 2017.
It looks like the first Pascal GPU's will be paired with Skylake H mobile CPU's and Skylake Desktop CPU's.
The puny Dual Core Kaby Lake U/Y Low Power Mobility CPU's will release 2016 Week 34-46, just in time for back to school. With more to follow 2017 Week 10.

Hello!
Please: What is currently the most stable Windows 10 nvidia Geforce 980m driver version for my MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI?
Thx + ciao,

Nobody. Any driver upper 353.62 WHQL just will crash freeze etc. -
Can we expect a solution in the near future?Last edited: Mar 16, 2016 -
I did contact Xotic PC as my first contact. They are the reason I got the RMA request from the manufacturer.
Xotic PC told me over the phone that if there was a problem with a third party part, that MSI would then forward the repair to them since they are the ones who installed it.hmscott likes this. -
If you are experiencing issues where your notebook crashes while connected to AC, after booting up and doing anything, then you need to disable hibernation/hybrid shutdown from your system. Sleep will cause the issue as well, so it is recommended to avoid using sleep if possible.
The latest issue is recent, the crashes on battery mode. I really hope nvidia gets its act together to fix this.
Otherwise, as it was stated, 353.62 are the best/most stable driver.
also the notebook cost has nothing to do with the issue. You could have bought a cheaper 700dlrs machine with an nvidia gpu and you would still face nvidia issues hahaha -
Has anyone had their screen go black after opening an app or program and then flash back on in full brightness with the message about nvidia driver kernel xxx.xx is not responding and has been repaired? Mine did this repeatedly, and continued after I tried 4 different driver versions. -
Are you reinstalling drivers with DDU? I am currently running the latest 364.51 drivers without issues (when connected to AC, battery is another story).
Are you running the latest BIOS and EC firmware?_JMiLLY_ likes this. -

If your computer monitor wouldn't turn on anymore you may have experienced indeed a hardware failure causing it. Which is different still. Hopefully you will get it repaired soon and ready too go.
As for issues, it all depends on how you use your machines. Since the current issues are more related to sleep/hibernation and battery mode, you will not experience much if you only use it connected to AC and don't use sleep/hibernation.
I mean, personally, I haven't experienced almost any issues anymore since I disabled hibernation and updated to the latest drivers, using it only on AC. This doesn't mean issues don't exist. You can also go to nvidia forums when drivers release to see the hundreds of complaints that appear, as everyone gets very different issues.
Some laptops for example, that have 120hz monitor, won't boot in 120hz and instead get black screen with the latest drivers. Others break gsync. Others get worse performance. these are just examples of issues you see almost on every driver release. The trick is to only update if you need it to. Like for a specific game. Otherwise use the most stable driver you find for your machine. -
What do you think caused my black screen? A bad card? -
I just miss a statement from MSI.
Keep working on it? Can we soon expect a solution? And so on... -
-
Yeah, 3 times in a row I went to turn it on and I could see the backlight turn on but nothing came up on the screen. -

Any of the newer releases is pretty good already.

I am curios anybody have tested the prema vbios with gsync and overclock to 75hz this will work or enable the gsync?
-
Also, Prema is supporting vbios for 980m's that run in the GT80, but those 1.x vbios's don't work with newer Nvidia releases - and the 2.x vbios's aren't currently tested/supported on the GT80 - I think Prema is focusing on supporting Clevo / Sager BIOS/vbios's right now.
For the GT80 BIOS/vbios, you can work with Svet, 189 pages so far in his support forum. Svet also works on donations:

The GT80 18" IPS panel can be run at 100hz by most that set up a custom resolution in the Nvidia Control panel. Some run up to 115hz reported.
A nice configuration to set up to avoid tearing and get nice smooth video, is to use MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner to set OC for GPU and use Rivatuner to Limit FPS to the same rate as refresh.
I have my GT80 set to 101 FPS with screen at 100hz. I set games/apps custom FPS limits as needed to match average FPS possible on GT80, and set screen refresh to that rate too.Last edited: Mar 17, 2016 -
The Prema v2 non gsync mxm vbios works in my gt80 970M SLI. No tested gsync version yet.
-
Why do you think G-sync will work with a non-G-sync monitor and a non-G-sync video card? -
maybe the 970M 6GB version works with the VBIOS of GT72 Dominitor Pro G i dont know.
-
-
Who wants to be stuck at pre-350 Nvidia drivers anyway, I have new games that use the newest driver updates.
G-sync isn't worth it anyway. I have done just fine tuning the Display refresh to match the FPS on laptops for quite a while.
With the GT80 your FPS won't drop down low enough to need g-sync anyway.
Would variable refresh matching of the display / GPU output be nice? Yes, but it's still in early days development, and it's really overrated.
Also, a good portion of the bugs reported in the latest drivers have to do with G-sync, so for many games owners need to disable G-sync. It's an early adopter problem.
The 18" screen, 100hz refresh, and power to drive new games at 100fps more than makes up for not having G-sync.
If you want to hear what Prema has to say about this, send him that link, and your desire for G-sync on your GT80 with a non-G-sync monitor and non-G-sync GPU, and see what he has to say. -

OMG you are running the panel at 100hz is that safe? -
You're a funny guy
You are trying to hack your vbios, use patched ancient drivers, and put all that together using the most buggy OS in years to run it all...
And you are concerned when I use a custom resolution in Nvidia released software that supports high refresh settings? That's rich
I have been OC'ing LCD panels for many years without failure. There is a sweet spot in the high refresh range for each LCD. Mine will go over 100hz, but 100hz is good enough.
One trick I have learned over the years when OC'ing, is to pull back from the maximum possible for the everyday use settings. It generates less stress on the parts and gives you longer operating life. It's also 100% stable that way.
Makes for a less stressful user life too. I don't get blue screens, or hardware crashes when tuning just below maximum for everyday use. I am much calmer myself as wellLast edited: Mar 17, 2016 -
when i am working with battery only will freeze too.
353.62 is the most updated stable driver for me. -
The GPU functionality isn't the problem, it's the OS.
You are giving up support for new games by sticking with the very old driver releases. -
-
unplug the power cable and your laptop start instantly freezing with newest nvidia drivers on 7/8/10
