Honestly, Sound blaster 2 really enhances sound in my old GT80, so I am definitely keeping it. I haven't heard much from nahimic but the incompatibility alone in some games makes it enough for me not to go for it hahaha.

With single GPU, you should also have much higher overclocking headroom without the computer turning off. Additionally, your cooling should be better as at least one of the CPU pipes will be directly cooled by the second fan

MSI uploaded a new Nahimic 1.2.9 / Realtek 6.0.1.7629 zip bundle.
Under Win 10, 5th one down, installers work for Windows 8.1, 7, 10
http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/support/GT80-2QE-Titan-SLI-5.html#down-utility&Win10 64
I uninstalled Nahimic 1.2.7, uninstalled Realtek 6.0.1.7592, rebooted, installed Realtek 6.0.1.7629, rebooted, installed Nahimic 1.2.9, and it seems to be working ok so far

Guys.. I am still playing with this Apache.. Nothing looks hopeful for this thing.. 90c all over the place on CpU.. MSI told us that it was normal.. And as long as it doesn't make it to 105c..
The Titan on the other hand.. Wohooo.. That's a different story.. And the Lenovo.. I'll have to run to the shop and cut the sinks for it. They are to think surprisingly.. Lol. Dang you thin laptops.mason2smart likes this. -

my blade pro hits 100 deg. Celsius all the time... My brother's blade 2014 hits 120 degrees celsius after about half an hour to an hour on batman arkham knight. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
That doesn't sound right, because at 120C the system should be gone already.
Which software did you use to monitor your PC? Have you tried AIDA64 before?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
90C is what MSI set/cap for the system, which will then instruct the EC to tighten power flow to CPU/GPU to keep temperature at bay. If you experience spikes in performance drop, etc then you will need to reduce graphics quality in order to have a more smoother gameplay. -

Razer has no shutdown temperature as far as I know. Gets so hot can't even put hand on area above keyboard. -

I see, and was it CPU read-out?
All CPUs have a shutdown temperature and it's not up to the system but CPU itself. This is to avoid damages. -
mason2smart Notebook Virtuoso
I think it was the gpu temp not cpu - however the cpu's do go well over 100 deg Celsius -

That and the damn screws keep falling out of the bottom of my blade pro. Had to buy a screw driver and break the seals to screw them back in... -

Thermal protection has always been in use, and it's 130 C but I've seen some that shuts off at around 95 to 100 C.
Here's a Q&A for your reference.
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers...otection-thermal-monitoring-technologies.html
For screw issue, use a thread lock to help to tighten the hold. -
mason2smart Notebook Virtuoso
Shouldn't happen on $3k laptop where seals are on screws
-
mason2smart Notebook Virtuoso
They can always send me new screws-the issue is it voided my warranty -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Since it looks like a material issue, those affected parts need to be changed out because they are already weakened. -
mason2smart Notebook Virtuoso
The new screws they sent didn't have seals and I would have to punch through seals anyways to screw then back in. I've had to have the laptop replaced like six times for various issues and didn't have it all summer
so I figured it was time to get a Titan

Hey guys, having some minor issues on my 263. I upgraded to Windows 10 (should have read the forums first) and at some point started having the random freeze issues associated with the NVidia drivers. I went to MSI's site, and started updating drivers to the newest Win10 drivers they have. I also rolled back from the current NVidia drivers to the 353.xx drivers and now the freezing has stopped and the box is totally stable. However, boot time. Was 7 seconds, now is closer to 60 seconds.
I know some folks were talking about this, but I wasnt sure what the fix was. I did update the bios to 1812.118 just in case it was this GPU/Cold boot initalization issue, but same issue remains.
Any ideas? Nothing plugged into USB channel but a mouse, so its not looking at other items in the boot order during POST. Im kinda stumped on this one. -
I just bought a msi gt80 titan , should I upgrade to windows 10 ? Or not?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
Yes, you can upgrade to Windows 10 now since it's more stable.
Be sure to update BIOS, EC firmware, and all of the drivers and utilities.

Thrawn, Windows 10 still isn't stable enough, as you are finding out, most people that upgrade/clean install Windows 10 have several things that don't work right, including stability.
It's best to wait for Windows 10 to mature and solve it's problems before jumping into it expecting everything to work. This will take many months, as MS is still issuing feature changes and feature packs, along with a constant stream of fix patches every week.
It took Windows 8=>8.1 upgrade about 6-9 months before all the drivers and bugs were fixed / upgraded finally to the point that you could say it was stable.
If you are looking for stable, live the Windows 8.1 life and enjoy the hard earned stability it now has
If you want to try a couple of things to fix Windows 10 issues you are seeing right now:
Check your EC and make sure it is the latest for Windows 10.
Try disabling Hibernation, which will also disable Fast Start up, that seems to help during early days of new Windows releases - same for 8/8.1. Same for sleep and paging, I disable all of it, and live without it just fine. Stops sleep/hibernation crashes, and stops slow startup/shutdown.
In a Windows Run as Administrator command window:
powercfg /h off
of, if you get an error, use this instead:
powershell -Command "Start-Process 'powercfg.exe' -Verb runAs -ArgumentList '/h off'"
From time to time Microsoft will push out a bad patch that will break Hibernation/Sleep even after it's been stable for a while, I completely miss those glitches because I don't use those features.
With OS's you learn to Triage out the most problematic features and live without them long term, it makes them so much more stable and problem free.
My GT80 SLI-263 is running Windows 8.1 (minus telemetry/Windows 10 update patches) with Nvidia 358.50 stable with all games.
Have fun

yazan223, no, absolutely not, not unless you want to fight Windows 10 problems / stability for the next 6 - 9 months
Check out the user posts with the GT80 having problems running Windows 10, and they either live with the problems (why?), or revert back to Windows 8.1. Some have tried to install Windows 7.

Some computers will not be stable for a long time due to software and driver incompatibility with Windows 10hmscott likes this. -

Hii,
Can you tell me what you think about a gt80 titan with 5700hq and 16gb, ? And a win 10 lol -
There is no "fix" yet because the issue is with the drivers themselves. If you absolutely must use the newest drivers, and they are causing issues, you have to restart windows every time you boot. This is a temporary fix.
So if your computer is turned off, you boot, before you log into windows hit restart, and then continue to use it. I found this mitigates the inestability with the drivers.
As for the best current drivers, I found that for me, 353.62 are the best, most stable drivers for Win8.1 and win10. I don't experience long boot times either. I would recommend to update everything (bios, firmware etc) then clean install by removing nvidia drivers via DDU on safe mode, then install the 353.62 drivers without anything you don't need (Personally I don't use geforce experience nor the 3D driver) with custom installation and clean install.
Afterwards, reboot and you should be fine.hmscott likes this. -

as a haswell owner, can I safely download the broadwell ec firmware? it says not to, but i'm trying to get windows 10 more stable. wifi still quits every 10 minutes or so, and get other issues. windows 8 works perfectly, but I just like 10, especially with direct x 12 happening one day. thx.

Lol these resellers offer little in terms of student discounts....
-

Direct x 12 still isn't utilized by pretty much anything and won't be used by anything for a year or so because most software already in development that is coming out by the end of the year will have been developed for direct x 11 not 12.hmscott likes this. -
For your wi-fi you can check your power settings. Sometimes things get set to shut off to save power, even if you are plugged in. I had a usb problem that drove me nuts, till I found this.

MSI has added a GT80S 980 SLI model listed on the Canadian site, it's not listed as 29th Anniversary, but some of the text in the overview says 29th Anniversary:
GT80S 6QF-074US Titan SLI (980)
http://ca.msi.com/product/notebook/GT80S-6QF-074US-Titan-SLI.html#hero-overview
The product page overview and specifications list it as having a 980 SLI, but the main listing, where you see all the GT models, says 980m - so there's that
No changes in US / Global yet, only the 29th Anniversary GT80S 980 SLI is listed, US has nothing for 6th Gen GT80S's.mason2smart likes this. -
i read through still didn't notice anything regards to dual psu. at this rate we are safe to assume GPUs are power restricted? or bios will have to throttle power from else where when GPUs are overclocked and vise versa?mason2smart likes this.
