The only error I found there at a different time is I think related to the onboard Intel graphics driver. The below message seems to suggest that the Intel HD graphics service could not be started. I wonder if this is normal since this service can only run when I restart the laptop in non-Nvidia-GPU mode.
Application Log:
Faulting application name: igfxCUIService.exe, version: 6.15.10.3995, time stamp: 0x544e8d10
Faulting module name: igfxCUIService.exe, version: 6.15.10.3995, time stamp: 0x544e8d10

If it does happen again, you have a 2 year warranty so if you want to delay the RMA a bit you can run on the single good GPU until it's convenient.

The GT80 switches between Intel and Nvidia using the GPU button to the left of the power switch (GPU switch light is on).
GPU switching requires the MSI SCM app loaded to switch, and a reboot to take effect - it will prompt you to reboot if SCM is loading and working.Last edited: Nov 19, 2015Midou likes this. -
How long did it take from sent to receive fixed?
It looks like Windows 10 is the default reload / recovery now at MSI RMA group. Too bad...
I wonder if you request Windows 8.1 loaded instead before RMA, if they will do it.
You can use your MSI BurnRecovery created USB 3.0 32GB flash recovery boot drive to restore the original out of the box Windows 8.1 configuration.
Don't forget to make another MSI BurnRecovery USB 3.0 32GB flash recovery boot drive for Windows 10 before you blow it away by loading Windows 8.1 again.Last edited: Nov 19, 2015mason2smart likes this. -

Hey, I'm having another problem. I downloaded the MSI live update; but when I launch it, I get the following message "The platform does not support this application." On the support section of the GT80, it says this supports Windows 10 64 bit, can anyone help me with this?
-
This is the site I accessed, and there are no downloads, except for Help Desk, showing as available.
http://us.msi.com/product/notebook/support/GT80S-TITAN-SLI-6th-Gen-GTX-980M-SLI.html#down-help-desk
MSI Live Update hasn't been available for the GT80, if the GT80S has it, that's new
Update: Great... now for the GT80 models, the *only* download available is MSI Live Update... downloading to try it... sigh... for all Windows versions...
http://us.msi.com/product/notebook/support/GT80-Titan-SLI-GTX-980M-SLI-5.html#down-utility&Win10 64
Same for me, Windows 8 x64 MSI Live Update downloaded, installed, but when I run it get that same dialog:
Filing a complaint with MSI support...
Your request has been sent successfully.
Your MSI TS ticket number: TS111915XXXXXX
I suggest everyone file a complaint with MSI, to get MSI's attention to get the direct downloads restored.
Update 2: The 4th Generation models still have the direct downloads, so only the 5th and 6th generation models have a messed up download area

BTW - how do I prove that nvidia on my laptop crashed? There is no event viewer message. The only thing I can do is take a screen shot of the pop up - if it shows up the next time. Most of the times my laptop just freezes. May be like you said - if I wait for a longer time - nvidia will eventually recover and go back to my desktop.
Will I need to give them evidence for RMA? I am also wondering if they are not able to reproduce the issue within the few attempts they make, will they return the laptop back without making any changes? -
What does help are instructions they can follow to recreate the problem.
Usually furmark will trigger a bad GPU, one that fails at stock settings, check it out
http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/
Try running the Preset:1080p benchmark, if that isn't enough to trigger the failure, try the Stress test, if it doesn't happen quickly you might need to bump up the GPU clocks a bit, or patiently wait till it fails to get a screen shot.mason2smart and Midou like this. -
One other thing - when I was updating my nvidia driver to the latest version today, there was a popup that showed some error - even though it seemed like the driver was installed successfully. Attached is a screen shot of the error. I searched on google about this, but I am not clear if this is nvidia's problem.
In any case, I reinstalled the driver by manually downloading the update from the website and running it - and I didn't get any error.Attached Files:

You could do a DDU uninstall of all Nvidia drivers from Safe Mode, and then do a fresh install of the latest Nvidia driver, to start out with a clean slate.

Hi,
I want to ask, the gt80 2qe, is it compatible with ssd m.2 pcie?
It will just be bottleneck or will not works?
Another question:
I have 2 ssd m.2 128 on raid 0 i want to get 2 other ssd 256, can i put them on a second raid 0, to get a partition of 512,
Just want to keep the 2x128 as system partition and the 2 others as games and cie partition -
they
they are msata not pciex
adding 2 msata to the existing should be possible, also should be possible to define them as a different raid system and volume...
I have 4 in sata identical (4x256) working as my master boot disk.ZoOLf likes this. -

Not strictly true, as many people (myself included) have been getting this error on the desktop occasionally with drivers after 353.62. These drivers are totally stable for me (I've never seen that message). But with later drivers I get it. Usually on the desktop though, from memory not in games.
-
Well just tried, and the 359.00's are not stable for me either. The usual driver restarts from the desktop. Back to the 353.62's then, as they are the last drivers that are actually stable. come on Nvidia, get your act together.....

FYI its the CLEVO vbios for non gsync. -
Has anyone had a chance to test the Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra? HIDevolution offers it as a step above the IC diamond paste.

It is among the best options with the higher risk if you are not sure of what you are doing hahaha. The improvement comes more from properly applying the paste rather than the paste itself, when using high end stuff.
If you want to use it, go ahead. In my case I would rather apply it myself -

My GT80 is running the install of Win8.1 in came with, and each time I've tried a new drivers I've done it using custom installed and a clean install option for the Nvidia driver set. Not sure what else I'm supposed to do lol. Hopefully Nvidia sort their lives out soon, and/or MSI post an updated driver set for the GT80. The current driver set on the MSI website is even older than the 353.62's. -
If you want to play battlefront, just use the trick I mentioned before. when you boot up your machine, immediately restart and use it, that way you can play games without the fear it will crash. As for Assassins creed, I believe we can extract SLI profiles from newer drivers and incorporate them to our current drivers.
But yeah hopefully MSI will also release a driver on their own so we can have newer ones. I think it's silly how we are needing a new driver for each new game coming out. It doesn't make sense.
