You can still get warranty using global warranty which is 1-year based on serial number (not purchase date). Please double check with your local MSI office to verify.

I was interested in buying the GT73 for a while but decided to wait and see if the next model had any enticing new features. But as far as I can tell, the only real distinction between the GT73 and the GT75 is a marginally better CPU and the mechanical keyboard.

Also I was reading the NoteBookCheck reviews for each model and noticed the display on the GT75 scored significantly better than the GT73 in terms of color accuracy despite being the same panel, that of the Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 (CMN1747). Although I assume this was simply due to the review model for the GT73 not being color calibrated beforehand while the GT75 one was.

    Reviews for reference:
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GT73VR-7RF-Titan-Pro-Notebook-Review.189710.0.html#toc-display
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-G...-1080-Laptop-Review.240904.0.html#toc-display

Considering all that, I was thinking of buying the 1070 GPU version to save a bit of money given that the 1080 is somewhat overkill for a FHD display. So would it be better to buy the GT73, or are the cheaper variations of the GT75 worth considering? Also, I've noticed there's a lot of online retailers but I'm not sure which would be best to purchase from as they all seem to cover the gamut in terms of services an enthusiast would hope for, such as repasting, color calibration, etc. I've had one poor experience with purchasing a laptop before, but that was from Amazon who fortunately issued a full refund even though it was just dissatisfaction on my part.

    Thanks for any input.

Get it from HIDevolution or GenTech PC for the best build quality and thermal paste job to avoid getting a laptop that overheats or doesn't work great out of the box.

If you email [email protected] and tell him your forum username, you can also get the NBR Discount.

Have you tried contacting your local MSI office to see if this can be done with them? This is the most preferred method.

Is there any update on when GS65's will actually start shipping out to consumers? I pre-ordered on Amazon and the only info I have received is that it changed from accepting pre-orders to out of stock on 4/16 the announced release date.

The various versions are coming in at different times. Here is the schedule of when, as of today, they are supposed to hit the MSI USA warehouse...but even this could change.

    MSI GS65 8RF Stealth THIN-068 - in stock
    MSI GS65 8RE Stealth THIN-050 and -053 - May 2nd.

Thanks, I'm assuming the 051 I pre-ordered off amazon is included in that May 2nd release?

Seriously thank you though, you're the first person who has been able to give any kind of coherent answer about when these are actually shipping.

yea, and believe me I've called and chatted with support a couple of times, but getting questions answered about logistics and shipping isn't something they have/offer info up on. Even tried tweeting at MSI's various US accounts with no response.

    Thanks again

That is one good reason people buy from dealers, not Amazon. Here you can reach real people with real answers.

All dealers have the same ETA, that I gave you above. That is from MSI.

This does not speak for Amazon, only they can answer that. Note also their model number -051, is different from what the dealers will initially be getting.

They don't offer out of warranty repair service? You can get the monitor ID or part number from the system, then find a replacement off eBay.

I am going towards the MSI WT73 687 VR model; i was wondering how it would hold up and if the 1505 chip can ever be upgraded 4-5 years down the line? The model will be used for heavy 3d and video production

Well, you picked the right model for your uses, that is for sure.

The WT73 is a full size laptop that is the MSI Flagship Workstation. Very well built, and will certainly hold up for years, given proper care.

Unfortunately, the CPU is not socketed, so it will not be upgradeable.

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or email me your phone number and I can call you between 4:00 PM and 1:00 AM GMT (9 AM and 6 PM PDT) - Monday through Friday - to discuss any other questions you might have.

thank @Donald@HIDevolution . my biggest decision is between this 1505 p5000 and HIDevolution thinkpad p71 1535 p5000... however i am aware on this forum of the thinkpads p71 heating/throttling issues..... even with your grizzly thermal paste application i am still having doubts if that will do anything... how is the build quality on the msi vs p71? i know the screen is better on the msi..

The global warranty covers shipping costs both ways for up to 2 times per year should anything go wrong with your laptop. They send you a courier to your house to pick it up it can’t get any more convenient.

Please note that global warranty works differently at each region as not all regions are equal, therefore please double check with local branch for details.

Edit: Brazil & Australia are not participating with global warranty.

I use a P51 and this machine, while good for all my current use, is only able to cool off the core i7 7700HQ barely, and on 90's degrees, so it's at its limit. Any "hotter" or higher end CPU will definitely throttle. It simply does not have the cooling performance, as the heatsink, fan and vents are just small/inadequate.

If you do have the money, I would definitely consider the MSI Workstation series.

Hello, I just received GS65 (037) locally and want to RAID couple of 1TB NVMe SSDs. But I don't see the option in the BIOS, including the latest April version. I looked under Advanced->SATA Mode Selection and that only has ACHI and Intel RST w/ Optane Acceleration.

Is is under another/hidden menu, or need a different BIOS?

Thanks, but I have IRST installed by default and there's nothing there. The online documentation said first step is to enable from BIOS, which is missing. MSI has a YouTube video on setting up RAID, and it also refer to choosing such option in BIOS' "Advanced -> SATA Mode" menu.

So I am hoping it just a matter of enabling somewhere, or MSI can supply a RAID version of BIOS. It will really disappoints and angers me if MSI only has it in the 068 model, which forces me to buy two 512GB SSDs while I want greater storage.

I currently have the stock SSD that comes with the 037 configuration (Best Buy), and that's a Samsung 512GB SATA SSD. I will only buy 2 1TB NVMe SSDs if I can RAID them.

Thanks!! As a poster indicated in another thread, the SATA Mode Selection option in BIOS does have it there with "RST Premium or Optane...". Select that, save, and reboot back into BIOS and there will be an IRST menu option.

You can post your questions here and they will reply to you as soon as they can, but everyone else on the forum can answer your questions too.
If you need answers directly from MSI then it's best to contact their technical support by phone.

As i was saying my question is how is it contacting tech support for msi? Is it easy, is it difficult, do you have to send a support ticket like gigabyte and aorus? I didnt ask how to contact.

It is very easy, so let's take US support for example: the quickest way to reach them is by calling and there's a wait time which can go from few minutes to 15 minutes. You can also submit request/ticket online which is usually answered within 24 hours.

Speaking as someone on "the inside", MSI support is exceptionally good and very easy to work with. I can only imagine that their customer-facing support is just as good, or even better.

Hi Dear Fourm , MSI team.

I have MSI gt73vr tittan pro top of the line laptop which I bought on december 2016

I sent my laptop to MSI RMA service to fix it for the 4th time within 1 year becuase I had a defective unit, MSI team were great each time and fixed my laptop for me which I barely used ,because every time i use this laptop it will fail me and break so I use my 6 years old HP laptop instead , which still works great :)

anyway this time when the repair was completed ,RMA departement sent the laptop for me throw fedex,on may /30 I got a message from fedex telling me that my package was delivered and someone has signed and recived the pakage,I was at my work so I contacted my family members who live with me they told me they were out also and havn't seen any one,

I checked with the apartment manager , and he hadn't recived any thing,so I contacted fedex and they told me that MSI has to file a lost claim

I called MSI team and they were great again and help me to file the claim, the claim got declined becuase someone has signed , i called Fedex agian and they told me they can do more invitigation and see who signed but MSI has to contact them directly becuase they are who did the shimpment I can't do it by myself

I called MSI agian and they told me they did thier part and they can't help me more because my case will be declined agian ,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Did MSI initiate a case for FedEx to investigate? Additionally, there should have insurance where they can claim that for you, right?

    Hi,
well MSI refused to deal with me , the supervisor told me he can't help me
Fedex told me we can't give you more information becuase it is illegal , MSI rep has to contact them becuase he is the shipper
