Mouse pointer would at random click, drag or jump around if I used the touchpad while making contact to the laptop chassis with my other hand. I believe the touchpad had a bad ground.

Yup, that seems like it, sometimes the assembly isn't done properly so the contact isn't fully secured to the touch surface. Hopefully the replacement will be perfect.

It's bitter sweet. It took a long while to confirm the defect and get my refund back that I'm now considering an RTX laptop. It's just that we know so little on what a base 2060 can handle for mobile.

I know exactly how that feels, since not all symptoms are easily replicate-able sometimes, or it takes awhile to figure out that it's hardware-related but not software-related issue. RTX is definitely an awesome choice. :)

Seems to be, depending on model, anywhere between a 1070 max q and a stock 1070. It's weird, there is not enough testing yet.

My guess it fits the 1070 level, since the 2070 is on the 1080 level.

That is what it seems given in the tests below. The Max-Q’s are looking a little disappointing but it’s still better over last gen’s Max-Q. Just note that the poor 2070 Max-Q results may be because Gigabytes ram is single channel. Full 2060 and 2060 looks very promising though.

I wouldn't trust those results in this link. Users here for the current RTX already have superior results for the RTX2080 and 2080 max Q, and the link seems a bit slower than even out of the box systems.

Once all models are out and many users around here can test, we will have a much cleaner picture.

I agree, because a demo unit may have issues that haven't been worked out by manufacturers so the results from before and after release may have discrepancy.

So I have to underclock and undervoltage. Why they do that?!

I pay for something and they give u something else. Thats just crime! Anyways, I´m getting freaking out trying to get best settings for my CPU (i7 8750H). :O trying by undervoltage and so one, still nothing. I have good temps, thats not the problem, the problem is over 3.4GHz he is Power Throttle acording to the new CineBench 20

They left some headroom open for you to crank up the performance but this is done to protect the product from overloading that can contribute to reduced life expectancy.

By design. PL1 kick in after some time. Have you montitored Cpu Package Power in Hwinfo64? What watt value will it drop to at the end of Cinebench R20?

You need to undervolt to lower Package Power due mentioned power limits.

@msi Rep - Where do I find an official MSI recovery image for the MSI GT83VR6RE? I can't seem to find anything on the official MSI website aside from drivers/utilities/manuals.

What is going on with Killer BT? Stopped working after update. Is there going to be any fix as this is affecting my use of several devices.

Should I RMA? Is there an alternative card to use? This needs to be fixed.

A wireless card replacement/upgrade is a fairly simple procedure.

The Intel 9260 or Killer 1550 are the best options today for an upgrade if you're using Windows 10 x64.

In the near future WiFi 6 aka 802.11ax cards will become available notably the Intel AX200 and Killer 1650 that when paired with a quality AX router and properly set up can produce 4 time the data link speed of wireless AC.

I have 2 Killer 1550 cards on Intel BT driver 21.0.0.4 and Intel Wireless driver 21.0.0.5 working without issue. One card is in a desktop and the other in a 5 year old MSI GS60 from Gentech.

Pairing the wireless cards with a NETGEAR R7800 router I get a theoretic data link speed of 1,733.3 Mbps measured in the inSSIDer app.

I connect a pair of Samsung Level On BT headphones and a few BT wireless mice without any issues.

I was wondering if the GS 75 Stealth comes in 2070 and 2080 full GPU versions or Max Q?

Cannot, this is based on the limited cooling capacity of this model.
If you want full desktop GPU 2070/2080 you will have to go with GT63/GT75, etc.

Well, I am a fangirl loved the GT83 Titan while i had it. . I'm a little bummed as I purchased a GT83 Titan RG8 back in April from Newegg and 4 days out of the gate the sound card died. They sent me a replacement after 12days of not having it, then a week and a half later the screen went dead, still backlit but no graphics. I spoke with both MSI and Newegg and MSI said to send it to them, but Newegg said they would send out a new unit to me after verifying it was indeed dead..

Instead of getting back another GT83, they simply refunded my original order.. I was so bummed.. The GT83 pretty much had every feature I could have wanted in one unit.. Plenty of storage options, built in Bluray burner. great keyboard, etc, etc. Dual GPU.

Ideally I was looking for another replacement for this very computer and went with the MSI GT75 9SG TITAN 4K-247 - 17.3" QFHD 100% RGB - i9-9980HK - RTX 2080)

because of having the most storage capacity, as well as other options.. I don't want a thin portable machine. I want a powerhouse they can be on the road while I am editing 4K or 360 videos and with 4 camera streams edited at once it can take up some resources. I've been looking both at work stations and gaming laptops for max performance and the GT75 has nearly all of the bucket list.

Anyhow, I am jumping back on the MSI bandwagon and hopeful to get a computer that will sever my needs for the next few years.

If the Clevo units offered more Nvme 3.0 slots I might have gone that way with a delidded 9900k but the MSI won out again.

Still really bummed that Newegg refunded me vs getting the GT83 back.. But in that same token, it allowed for me to explore other options with updated hardware though not sure if the drop down from dual 1080 SLI to only a single 2080 will do it.

I know and I checked this out right as soon as the specs were out, but the storage is lack luster in the 76.

The less is more thing.. I've been wanting a new machine to take up the bucket list and each time I find a machine that meets the desires. I think they will expand (add vs remove features) upon what is already in place and zap, they remove some of the features that drew me to the unit, to begin with. A GT75 with the storage and specs in place but with Dual GPU, and stock desktop CPU would be excellent, but :(

    GT76:
    1x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3)
2x M.2 SSD Combo slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA)
    1x 2.5" SATA HDD6
    GT75:
    M.2 PCIe / SATA Slot 1
    M.2 PCIe / SATA Slot 2
    M.2 PCIe Slot 3
    M.2 PCIe Slot 4
    M.2 PCIe Slot 5
    2.5" HDD/SSD Bay

    Imagine what you can do/get with 3x NVMe + 1x 2.5" already.
It's not so bad considering what it can have (whilst missing 2x NVMe slots from GT75). If you have high demand on storage then just make each drive larger. :)

    In the GT83 Titan RG8 I had 2 Nvme 1Tb raid 0, 1) 2tb M.2 sata drive and 1) 2 tb ssd. 4drives was excellent.

Once storage prices get in line for Nvme drives over 1Tb than it would be a moot point. 1 TB and under drives are very reasonable now.

The 2TB Nvme drives and over are still pricey usually costing more than 2X the smaller sizes 1Tb for the capacity vs cost .. Next few years will help a lot especially when newer tech comes on the scene.

    Dear MSI people:

The Synaptics Touchpad driver for MSI will not download from the Windows Store, nor will it install from the support packages downloadable on the MSI support site. (in my case for the GS65-Stealth 037).

The reason is the app's signing certificate is expired. (as of August of 2018)

Please work with Synaptics to get the app signed, then update the package on your download support site, and the Windows Store. This will allow MSI users to install/update the Synaptics settings app.

    Thank you!!!

Feel free to message me if you need more data. But I think you will find this to be correct.

Have you tried contacting your local MSI tech support? It's best to let them know so they can submit the issue/request to their HQ but don't post here as it will go unheard.

I've tried, but so far, I can't get the support site to actually submit anything. (USA support, logged in to my registered product).

There's a long thread on the problem in the forum, but the problem is that the root signing certificate expired and the file is no longer trusted by Windows 10.

It takes escalation from MSI to Synaptics and then Microsoft. This is why you need to report it, as well as other customers.
MSI cannot fix this issue on their own.

Hi, what is the dead pixel policy of MSI. As I had planned to order a gaming laptop from HID-Evolution,I heard that the pixel test passes upto 3 pixels in a brand new unit. Is this true?

Or is it that you thoroughly check the screens to have none of the dead pixels before shipping?

Or I have to compulsorily take the 30 days pixel guarantee pack from HID?

But will it be a problem with dead pixels ?

And also when you are paying more than 1000-1200$ , do you like to get a laptop display with these issues?

Does the GS75 Stealth with 9th gen i9 and 2070/2080 Max Q come with a 90 watt version of the GPU? I’ve seen conflicting reports.

If not, can a 90 watt vbios be provided so we can flash it ourselves?

Panels nowadays are pretty good but that doesn't mean it's 100% defect-free.
But there's an option to get zero dead pixel if you purchase the option from any of the resellers from NBR forum. This may be something that you want to look into. :)

    GE75 9 series.
SDHC should be connected via USB3 interface not 2.0 Its got 2 USB 3 ports on that daughter board next to the slot, there is zero excuses for this, this is some corner cutting terrible engineering.
    Thunderbolt 3 support.
Gsync support - though heard there are tech limitations due to nvidia optimums on this one?
1440 panel. I'll take a refresh rate hit to 120hz if we can get a 1440 panel instead of 1080 one. Though I'm not sure if such 17.1" panel exists...
    IPS class panel.
Beef up CPU cooling if space permits as we're on 8 core CPUs now. Maybe an extra heat pipe but maybe adding another one would yield diminishing returns.
All USB 3 A ports upgraded to 3.1.

Gladly would pay more for the laptop if it had these additions.

I went through the last 5-10 pages but didn't see anything. Has there been any official word from MSI on their massive widespread problem of defective keyboards on virtually all lines of laptops sold up through 2017? I'm up to both my ctrl keys, k, >, 5, 7, num0, f5, del, z, and x not working at all and it feels like F is following too.

A quick google of MSI and keyboard failure will show huge numbers of people with the same problem on all major lines.

It's probably just a defective keyboard which can happen with anybody but not really a massive issue, therefore please contact MSI directly for warranty service as they don't check here often.

I meant massive as in the sheer number of people it happened to for MSIs sold starting 2016 until what looks like just this past year. Those who were able to convince MSI it was a warranty issue and not their fault just had the problem come back, which to me says either their entire run of keyboard modules is defective or there's a problem with the chassis that damages the keyboard circuitry or cabling over time.

Personally I wasn't able to get warranty service since I'm abroad, their local service center refused me unless I paid full out of pocket. I'm looking into identifying the exact replacement part I need to do it myself.
