I believe this is a typo on our listed specs. Thank you for letting me know. If anyone has bought it with the premise that there were keycaps included, please PM me and i will get you taken care of.

the other accessories are still included. Only the keycaps will be gone. i believe it has to do with the production of the metal keycaps that was an issue.

Hello everyone. Well my Aging MS-16F2 is in need of a replacement 4 Years old with only 1 GPU Replacement and upgrade to GTX770M, 1 Back cover, Power Flexcable. Now i am looking to get the new 6th gen GT72 6QD which is based on the HM170 chipset and was wondering about storage as being with my current system it would seem that Gaming, Hyper-VM, Recording etc fills a 2TB system up.

I noticed the GT72's in the past has/had a daughter card to connect upto 4 Sata M.2 SSD's. I know in the new 6th gen thats now 2x NVME and 2x SATA in M.2.

My question is on the 6QD does it have said daughter board and can it be populated with 2x NVME and 2x SATA M.2 SSD's to help increase the storage. I am not after Raiding the SSD's if it can.

My Idea is to Replace the DVD/BlueRay drive with an ODD which seems to be a 9.5mm instead of 12.5mm with a drive and then Populate the M.2 Slots as and when required for example

256GB for OS (Will be getting this when i buy the laptop keeping the 128GB free and intact), 512GB for Games and then the 1TB drive for Hyper-VM and junk files. The ODD would then be used for backing up important files.

I rather know in advance so that one can plan other storage methods should Plan A fail.

    I'd like to ask
I have purchased MSi laptop and I want to remove horrible spinning noisy ancient rotating HDD ...
But there is sticker over screw saying if tampered warranty will be void.. Why? So how the heck I suppose to upgrade SSD/RAM or clean inside etc ?

    @ MSIGeno
I am now interested in 980 desktop GPU version of GT72S, it's cool.
But I actually dislike the red dragon design (29th aniversary edition), and the traditional black aluminum chassis will be my favorite.
So do you have any news about the black non-dragon edition with 6820HK + desktop 980? Is it coming in the near future?

I came to know, the option of 6920HQ+980 non-dragon edition of GT72S is available from GentechPC, but I really prefer the unlocked 6820HK to 6920HQ.

    Thanks.

    Hey Simona,

The warranty sticker is there only as a pre-caution. we will still honor the warranty if the sticker has been taken off etc, as long as whatever the issue you are sending it in for is not due to user error from opening the unit up. So to be clear, as long asit is a manufacturer defect, we will take care of it through the warranty even if the sticker has been tampered with.

    Hi MSIGeno,

Just received a new MSI GS40. Nice notebook, but the profiles are slightly ridiculous when idling. The fans for both the CPU and GPU are either 0 RPM or 3300 RPM while idling with no in between. Temperatures are in check. But they will randomly come on, shut off, come, shut off. Was hoping you could pass this feedback on to the engineering team, maybe come up with a few more fan profiles?

Check if Silent Option for MSI notebooks works on your machine. If it doesn't, they will surely add it soon. You can use your own custom fan profiles.

Keep in mind some fans can't go below certain speeds, which might be the reason the fan is cycling between 0 to 3k rpm, but this is just a general comment, all notebooks are different.

Hello, I recently bought an MSI GE62 6QF laptop. It has 1xM2 slot, 1xSATA3 2.5" slot, and DVD-Drive slot. I have read that DVD-Drive slot for this model also utilize SATA3 interface. So the question is: can I make SATA RAID 0 with 1x2.5 drive (in built-in SATA3 slot) + 1x2.5 drive (ODD replace, also SATA3)???

    @ MSIGeno
    Hi, Geno
I want to ask: is the current GT72s (6820HK 980M version) cable of upgrading to next generation MXM GPU card in the near future(maybe in 2016)?
I know GT72 has done well to support GTX880M upgrading to GTX980M, and still have more expexctations on this GPU upgrade possibility.
    Thank you very much!

Have a question for the MSI Rep, I had some issues with installing two of Kingston's 16GB ram kits in my GT72S 6QE. If I used both of their kits the system wouldn't POST or if it did post it would POST very slowly and then lock up in Windows. I had Newegg replace all the ram and the same problem happened again. I am no operating with one of the Kingston 16GB kits and one of the original Hynix 16GB kits that came with the laptop. Could you recommend a 32GB kit and a 64GB ram kit for this laptop? I want to run a lot of VMs on it so 64GB would be nice.

I would be interested in MSI qualified memory options too. I had already read about the Kingston compatibility issue with Mr.Fox's work, but I haven't seen any mention of tests with the new g.skill DDR4 16GB/8GB/4GB kits.

    g.skill DDR4 On newegg.com:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...7&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICED&PageSize=30

    I was looking at getting either the 2 x 16GB, or the 4 x 16GB 2666mhz.

I have had good results with g.skill on DDR3/DDR3L DIMM's/SODIMM's, so I am hopeful, but I don't see any reviews yet...

Yeah I've read some reviews on Newegg where the Kingston memory I bought is not working out well. I would like to try out the GSkill ram, but it wasn't on the QVL that support sent me after I went back and forth with them on the phone a few times.

    hi msi,

i keep returning to the idea of purchasing the msi stealth pro gs70 as my next laptop but can't pull the trigger.

i need something that will have a good colourspace so i can edit photos properly. right now i am considering the dell xps15 with the infinity display.

what adobe space does the stealth pro have? is the screen ips? is there a colour calibration file available to correct the yellowing i have read about?

    thanks!

Is the USB-C port in the GT80S TB3 or just USB 3.1? I've seen sources saying both.

    Hi Katiecat,
The Type-C ports on the GT80S are USB 3.1. They will be Thunderbolt 3 certified down the road. I hope this clears it up!

    Hi guys!
My question to My Myco I just updated BIOS on MSI GS60 6QE to E16H7IMS.10C version. Download BIOS file from here http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/support/GS60-6QE-Ghost-Pro.html#down-bios, update BIOS twice with UEFI BIOS Utility. BIOS ver changed to E16H7IMS.10D, but ME version still remains 1171 (it never changing to 1180). EC ver is actually 16H7EMS1.105. Please help me to resolve this little problem. Thank you.

Hello, question for an MSI Rep (or anyone else who may know the answer). How come in your Support/Downloads page, none of the GT72 laptops that include (6th Gen) Processor have any Drivers to download? All I can see are Help Desk and Mouse Drivers.

    Examples provided below.

Most likely MSI is updating their pages. Since 6th gen CPUs are the newest versions, they might be wrongly linked etc. Give them some time :)

Hey, really can't find an answer for this one, thinking about buying the gt72s gtx 980 (non m) and don't know if I would be able to upgrade the gpu in the future, so is it upgradable?
And second question is, should i get the one above or the gt80s sli-002 (6th gen i7 but with 980m sli) really torn up, looking for the best performance of the two, price is almost identical...

980m SLI is faster than the single 980, and if a game does not support sli, you will be about 80% of the performance anyways. It's up to you :) and I do think that both the GT72 and 80 are upgradeable to pascal at the very least.

    Hello!

I've got this laptop gt72-2qe-1604ne and currently with msi gtx 980m 4gb graphic card, I was looking to buy this from ebay, i quote "Promotion Nvidia GeForce GTX980M 8GB DDR5 for Clevo MSI Alienware M17x R4 R5"

Their answer when I asked if it fits my model of gt72 was I quote "hello,
    thank you for your order.
the card is Clevo version.and don't work on you GT 72.
you need MSI version,we will send you MSI version GTX 980M.
by the way,MSI GTX 980M is 4GB,you know that?
we are looking forward to your reply."

My reply back was NOT to send the card since I already have the same version on my laptop.

    Other information about my laptop:

8GB compared to 4 GB gives you nothing at least on 1080p screen. Don't bother.

8GB is overkill, but you should be able to use Clevo card on MSI system by flashing MSI VBIOS to it.

Hello Geno, I suppose you are responsible for questions related to MSI USA, but I would still like to try and ask you something about buying MSI in China.
I checked both US and Chinese websites and even for products with identical specs (same codename, processor, graphic card...), the pages with graphical contents advertising these characteristics (for instance keyboard colors, screen etc.) are different and, most notably, Chinese pages don't mention True Color Technology or color calibration in general. Does this mean that Chinese laptop's screen are not calibrated? How can I verify?

One more thing, Chinese MSI laptops are sold without OS and the shop refused to provide a Windows license (I called more than one official shop/online reseller, include reputable JD). Worse, a shop offered to install a pirate Windows... I can obviously buy the OS separately, but how will the color calibration work in that case?
The quality of the screen seems to be one of the selling point of some MSI laptops (I'm interested in GE62/72), but here in China there's no information about that.

I am sorry to say that so far my "before buying" experience with MSI in China is being horrible and I am kind of forced to consider other brands as there seems to be no way to buy a reliable, ready to use product...
Please let me know if I am doing something wrong and sorry to post my question here, but I could not find answers from Chinese sources (not online, not on the phone, not in person at the shops....).

    Cheers!
