When did the symptom occur? Did it occur right after a software installation?
If problem persists, then backup your data first, and perform a factory recovery to verify the symptom. -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
You can disable Atheros/Qualcomm Killer manager service and verify if the issue persists. -
Hi
I have an MSI GT70 2oC what is its original voltage on gtx770m and how much I can change the voltage if I want a stable overclock core +135 +500 memory -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
You can work with Svet at MSI forum to run through voltage tests to determine the highest voltage you can use for your GPU, then you can go from there. -
Hello guys, first happy new year :hi2: !
I have a problem with my GT60 2OC. I want to change my screen 1920x1080 (FHD) to lower resolution screen 1366x768 (HD), but when I change the panel, the HD screen lights up, but the display stay in black!
I try this HD panel on another laptop, and it works perfectlyWhy ? The FHD LVDS connector is incompatible with lower resolution ? I don't know, but I'd tried an 1600x900 (HD+) and it works....
For information, my FHD screen installed on my laptop is a TN panel (LG LP156WF1-TLF3) and my HD screen replacement is an IPS panel (LG LP156WHA-SLL1).
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my sh*tty english, I'm french ^^' -

Hey, im new to the forum here. Have some concerns and im not sure what to do.
I have the GT60 Dominator 1066US with a GTX970m. 1TD HD
yes its not the standard or older GT60 but maybe there are similar issues.
i read most of the posts here but its too much for me and i got a bit lost so thought id just ask.
maybe itll be easier to bullet point them:
-HDMI output: randomly in games it flickers or disables itself. Also some minor screen tearing on screen. tried diff cables. screen tearing on laptop screen sometimes during League of Legends play.
-smaller issue:
During play of Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments, massive overheating. disappointed.
-heating fans can get loud, randomly increases fan speed to cool-down and it gets loud. purchased MX4 thermal paste, waiting on shipment. Will adding the paste void warranty? Ive stuck to desktops all my life till now when it comes to modifications.
RMA department wants me to send it to them, but I dont want to waste money and time shipping it out if its something i can fix myself or something they wont catch. Im hoping the community can help me
BTW: all drivers up to date. im a computer tech of sorts so wont explain more. thoroughly checked to make sure its the proper ones.
Thanks for your time folks,
Mike
ps. should i toss in an SSS drive? i mean will it help with cooling too? no moving parts. -
Just did a fresh install of Win7 on my GT60 3k edition and I can't get the FN hot keys to work. You guys have any ideas?
I did try searching the forum and couldn't come up with anything..
Thanks!
Edit: The FN keys work, however I can't get the little UI notice to show up on the screen when I enable/disable the touch pad for example.Last edited: Feb 5, 2015 -

Repaste will not void warranty because it's a reasonable usage unless damages are inflicted upon system PCB and components. -

Hello everyone. I recently got my GT60 2QD Dominator and it came with the 1 TB HDD (like many of yours, I assume). Naturally, I purchased the MSI Super Raid 2 adapter card and 3 mSATA SSDs to put into RAID0 (1500 MB/s read!!!). However, MSI put a non-RAID BIOS on the notebook because they didn't want someone to upgrade their notebook without paying for it. Luckily, I've encountered this issue before with my GT60 2OC and dealt with it as follows. Basically, they used to include AFUDOS flash utility with BIOS downloads for you to flash new BIOS with, but now they don't because they expect you to use the EFI BIOS flash integrated into BIOS to update it. If you use EFI BIOS and try to flash from a non-RAID BIOS (E16F4IMS.5XX) to a RAID BIOS (E16F4IMS.7XX), it won't let you do it (ROMs don't match). AFUDOS utility lets you bypass this if you add a /x command in the FLASH.BAT command file that comes with AFUDOS (/x lets you skip the ROM check and turn a non-RAID BIOS into a RAID BIOS). By doing so, you will gain access to the Intel RAID settings in BIOS. Once again, this worked on my GT60 2OC and GT60 2QD (probably works for all GT60s). Once you do this, you can install all RAID BIOS updates automatically, because ROM check will pass (it only makes sure that the current version is similar to new version). I can upload all the files you would need to put on a USB to do this, if anyone is interested. I looked around a while ago and nobody posted anything like this, so I had to figure it out for myself. On my GT60 2OC, I was able to have 2 x 1 TB HDDs in RAID0 and now I have Super RAID 2 set up on the GT60 2QD. Hope this helps someone out there.

Yes, pretty easy to do a couple of clicks on the BIOS screen.
-
Been getting some Memory Management Error BSOD's lately and I don't think the actual RAM is the issue nor has there been some recent software change-up I could associate it with.

Also, you can provide the error code from the crash event under event viewer. -
Thanks, Kevin.
Hmk, I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and it said it detected a hardware problem and that I should contact the manufacturer. The event viewer shows this at Results, if it's of any help:Results

If you start seeing errors in red then you will know what to do next --> MSI tech support. -
Hey does this laptop come with a windows product key somewhere? Like I want to perform a clean install by downloading Windows 8, but I don't have a key.
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
You don't need to enter the key or try to back it up because Windows will use it automatically. Even Windows somehow asks you to enter the KEY then it's wrong Windows you are installing. -
I'd like to update the bios of my gt60-2oc as there seems to be a fix for the wake on lan issue that im having. The trouble is that I'm super confused as to which bios version to download. My current bios is the E16F4IMS.50H. Some of the instructions say to update to a certain version before downloading and flashing to the latest, but which one do I go to directly from 50H?? Goddamn them why can't they be more direct with their instructions.
Be advised that I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, the laptop came with Windows 8 on it but I promptly got rid of that because of some early driver issues and difficulty with updating to Windows 8.1.
Here is the page with the 4 bios versions

See how your current file ends in .50H? That means you want the .50V file.

Hey folks, I think my laptop was damaged by a bad lightning storm a week or so ago... standalone it works fine, but when I hook up an external monitor the HDMI and DP connections have no signal, and the VGA connection forces the Intel GPU active, meaning all my games are visibly slower and in some cases uglier. From the two quotes here it seems like all I'd need to do is replace the GPU... I'm only hesitant because there might be something else wrong and replacing the GPU may not fix it. Is there anything else I should check, or is it definitely just the GPU?
Edit: the laptop is GT70 2OC 059US. Discrete GPU works fine when using the built-in screen.

As long as there are no burn marks, and if the unit is under warranty MSI will take care of you. -
has anyone with a GT60 2OC upgraded to Win 10 yet? if so any problems I should watch out for?
-
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
You should be able to get away with most of stuff but there can be unforeseen issues. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It does do a basic check of compatibility before upgrading. Do a backup before you migrate and you can revert within the first month back to the old OS.

I have updated to Windows 10 and I regret it.
The installation itself was fine. After that, windows updater decided to update my Synaptics Touchpad drivers. Since then, the touchpad stopped working, then the keyboard stopped working. I had to revert to the old drivers to get everything to some level of normalcy.
Yesterday, windows updater updated the drivers again. Since it downloads and installs automatically, I couldn't stop it without cutting the internet connection(if there is any other way, Please let me know). I then proceeded to angrily force shutdown the PC by holding the power button, so I'm guessing, if I try to use it today, the KB and the Touchpad probably won't work again.
So yea. That's my story, if you do decide to upgrade(?) yours, hope you have better luck.
P.S
Even when I got the touchpad to work again, the finger gestures did not work. (Tapping with two fingers did not register as a right click). -
Hey Kevin
I was just wondering, since you specifically asked if @pedrohsi had tried playing anything since the upgrade.
Are games supposed to work any better/worse? I tried Middle earth: Shadow of Mordor, no real difference. -

I have a GT-60 2OC and I ran into several problems after upgrading to W10, namely these 3:
1. search button next to start isnt working and nothing is helping, i tried to restart Windows Search in services, but that didnt help, the only solution is to create a new windows account, then it works, but thats just not ideal
2. a minor problem, but still - icons on my desktop cant be moved to the very bottom of my screen - it simply puts them back one "box" above, and thats just annoying, since im used to having the trash can at the very bottom of my screen.
3. Sound Blaster Cinema cant recognize my audio drivers apparently - whenever i start the program, it shows me the message "The current selected audio device is disabled, not present, not supported by the application, or has unplugged jack connections. Do you want to select another audio device now?" When i click yes, it shows me "There is no supported audio device available" and i cant use the program. I tried newer drivers, older, but so far nothing has worked.
Can anyone help me? -
As for SB Cinema, read the MSI forums, I think they don't support it anymore. -
-
Following up on the Synaptics Drivers: Yesterday, I was amazed that this time, the new drivers didn't make the touchpad stop working, in fact, the taskbar icon was quite useful. This didn't last long though, the touchpad stopped working again :/. Funny thing is that the icon flickers from "enabled" to "disabled" every second and then stops working entirely (not sure how to explain that better).
My woes continue.
Windows media player was updating the media library(album art, metadata etc). All the files it was updating were on one of 2 HDDs on my GT60. At the same time, I was downloading a torrent and extracting some rar files all on the same drive. <- This is something that I do quite frequently(what's the point of a moderately High config laptop if it can't handle a little work).
At a point of the rar extraction, the laptop got completely unresponsive and I had to hold down the power button to shutdown.
On restarting, windows said "Preparing Automatic Repair". That didn't work either I had to force shutdown again, and again and again.
When the laptop did finally start, it made some funny squeaky noises(from the 2nd HDD, I suppose) and took a good 10 mins to get to the login screen. But the second HDD was not listed anymore, not on compmgmt.msc, or diskpart or anything.
I had to bang on the underside of the laptop(where the 2nd HDD was located) to get it to work again.
Since nothing like this ever happened in the 2 years I've had the laptop, I'm going have to blame the most recent change -> Windows 10.
This "upgrade" has been abysmal and I wonder if the recovery disk can be used to get Windows 8.1 again.
Oh and for those of you who actually read all this nonsense, a hearty thank you.Last edited: Aug 4, 2015 -

The upgrade lets you revert within the first 30 days, my touchpad driver must have auto updates since it's back to being its old self on my GS30.

Windows asks me to take a back up of my apparently now corrupt 1TB HDD and replace it.
There's just one thing that needs replacing and it's not the HDD. -
Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knew the size of the HDD caddy I need to get to replace the ODD with a Hard drive. I've googled a lot and there doesn't seem to be a conclusive answer that I can find. The two sizes available are 12.7mm and 9.5mm.
I've got the following information from here.
I'm guessing the chassis of the GT60 dominator and the GT60 2oc-022us are the same, so I'd have to go with the 12.7mm one.
It'd be great if someone with more knowledge on this, than I, can shed some light.
Thanks in advance.Last edited: Aug 15, 2015 -

Yes the standard 12.7mm is the one it uses.

Well, I updated to windows 10 with my GT60-20C and I had the same problem with the touchpad enabling and disabling at rapid speeds. Going in to task manager and hitting tab a few times somehow would stop the cycle with the mouse ending on enabled or disabled literally like a roulette.
Going into the mouse settings would cause this cycle to start up again and when you tabbed to the synaptics tab you could see it enabling and disabling over and over. Once again, tabbing on this window would stop the cycle ending in a roulette again with the mouse sometimes working, but every time the computer goes to sleep or you open settings for random things, it'll start to freak out again.
This was the only place I could even find people reporting this issue. Pretty frustrating as nothing else seems to be a problem. I guess I'm stuck with windows 8.1.Last edited: Aug 18, 2015
