I can go back to stock OS but I have done that a few times already. The Firmware on the Bios i had just updated that to the newest one probably 2 months ago. Heres what my device manager looks like http://imgur.com/a/clvCl I have no idea what the 3 Unknown devices are Ive only installed ram and a ssd in here.
This might be the issue but I really dont know how to fix it, seems like the Gfx driver but I dont know if it's the Intel or the Nvidia driver and they are both up to date as well.

Hey guys, I'm going to buy a battery for my MSi GT60 2OC-022US.
It looks like the HGW™ is the one Im looking for, is that the best option?
Any tips for buying the replacement and tips of how to make it have a longer life? -
PLEASE help. I havw gt70 2oc 065 us
2 days ago i bought samsung Evo 850 FOR My laptop. I was thinking i can easily Connect My ssd via My second sata bay placed in bottom Of THE Laptop.but whenever i Connect it, My Bios setting didnt See ssd. I changed THE slots AND this time My harddisk wasnt showed in My Bios Page. Now im curious whether My sata bay is NOT working OR i missed smthg?
Notes i have never used that bottom sata bay before.
Also i Wanna Find OUT whether there is option TO Enable sata slots in Bios menu? Like i Said PLEASE help AND thanks -

What happens if you just run with the one drive in the slot you are not sure about and leave the other empty? Also have you double checked you are fully inserting it and it is orientated right?

Try a different drive to verify the bottom connectivity. -
yes i guess i secured. i inserted and make it stable. And whenever i change the SSD-HARD DRIVE ,my bios show the informations of one which is inserted in upper drive bay
-
After a lot of searching, I found a post that asked to run the memory diagnostics. I know, what could be the connection right? But I did it anyway and it worked. So you can try that, nothing to lose.
Go to Control Panel, Search "Diag", select the option shown in the Screenshot.
Report back if it works, or if it doesn't.

Hey Y'all
It's been a while, which means the laptop's been working fine. Till now.
The battery light, which usually glows red when charging and then turns off, has been blinking blue today, all of a sudden. I was wondering if anyone had faced this or knew why this would be.
I plugged out the charger, thinking the battery was dead but it seemed fine. Also On plugging it out, the light would turn off. And running just on battery it said 3Hr 37Mins remaining, which seems about right. Plugging the charger back in would make it charge again and then blink blue after it's completed charging.
Any advise would help.
Thanks all. -
It's finally happened, the GT60 is obsolete. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If the machine is behaving normally I would not worry about it.
Plus any machine that can install a 970M or 980M is hardly obsolete. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
While we may have said goodbye to the GT60 we have not been abandoned by MSI.
I give you the true replacement to the GT60:
We have called it the PowerPro I 6:5-980, it is not available in retail at this time.
Desktop CPU, 980M (MXM slot), 4k display option (Both res with G-sync), PCI-E raid supported.
Standard 4 pin high power plug.santathe1 likes this. -
Ah that is an ungodly machine, @Meaker, a little googling got me more info.
But my own GT60's battery doesn't charge at all now.
In fact, all it says is "0% available (Plugged in, not charging)". I was hoping someone wiser than I, could direct me to a solution. If it has to be replaced, I like to have tried everything before shelling out $152(In India, since it needs to be imported from Taiwan :| ) to replace a battery I barely ever used. The only reason I need the battery is to be able to save my work and shutdown, in case of a sudden power outage. :/
Thanks again though, Perhaps there still is hope. -
Hi, anybody knows if can be used without problems Alienware GTX 770m in MSi Gt70-20D? (before nvidia 780M, which is dead)
Thank you. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If you have both it is worth a test.
-
Tested. Alienware GTX 770M works in Gt70 but we can't install drivers. We see in device manager "standart vga adapter", also in GPUZ displayed igp and nvidia 770M. But when run setup 361.43-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql , run window with error message "not compatible hardware in computer". I guess we need modify drivers. Any helps how to do it? Thank you.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There are guides around how to do it or grab a set and modified inf from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
-
Due to server problems http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ has lost last years drivers + infs - the infs wil be replaced gradually but the drivers probably will be linked to Nvidia. Time will tell
-
@Meaker the 4k version has also g-sync support ?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
-
guys i found a lot quides example here http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/30969-modding-nvidia-oem-inf-files/
but in 361.43 drivers in INF file are not NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0 , there is only %NVIDIA_A% = NVIDIA_Devices,NTamd64.6.0,NTamd64.6.1,NTamd64.6.2,NTamd64.6.3,NTamd64.10.0
I hope is the same....
Edit: modded done, we need try it.Last edited: Jan 2, 2016 -
@Meaker from the 16L1 aka GT62
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Both displays support G-sync
-
nice ! there already any information as to when the GT62 / 16L1 will be published? MSI puts itself out with no information

Nice!!! btw.... I saw the wattage of ac adapter for this model... Can you confirm if it's a 120watts only? If this is true, then I think the ac adapter + the battery is going to be the bottleneck of this model as the desktop cpu plus the mxm gpu needs more than that wattage though.Last edited: Jan 5, 2016 -

Where did you see 120w? As mentioned above 230W and it uses the gt80 style plug.

I haven't seen the GT80 plug yet... Can post a pic of that one here? Very much appreciated if you can post here too thanks

Regarding wattage, it's the same as older generation of products that you can't use anything higher than 230W due to limitation imposed in the EC firmware.
You can put 1000W AC adapter there but the system will only take in 230W. -

Yup, it's the 4-pin connector between HDMI & RJ45.
MSI stated that specifically when we checked with them.
You can use Power meter ($20) to measure the max power consumption from your system.

My battery is just about toast in my barely 2 year old gt60. Hwmonitor shows 76% wear. It doesn't last longer than 20 mins on battery power now.
I have never abused the battery or left it plugged in while not using the laptop. Id guess that fewer than 100-150 cycles has been put through it. I've used the battery calibration tool fairly regularly as well.
I'm looking at alternative replacement batteries on Amazon and eBay but I'm leery to purchase one with the fear that it will be a low quality, weak ass piece of junk.
What types of batteries have some of you used to replaced the oem one?

Is someone running Windows 10 with all their laptop working at top level?
I can't use the mouse drivers, Sound Blaster Cinema is not opening, the 3.0 USB ports not working to read drives (I can use something like a mouse but cant open a pendrive).
If there is someone can you tell me which version of divers you are using please. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
What drivers have you tried?
-
The touchpad doesn't work, LAN keeps disconnecting, and I can't disable/enable the driver. Every time I disable, it doesn't work and I have to restart the laptop. I can't even find this laptop on MSi's website to see if there are any new drivers for Win10.
If anyone has the link for this, please let me know. -

By the way, here's the Win10 upgrade information & troubleshooting guide.
[ Download]
Hence, the only way (best way) is to perform a clean Win10 installation, download and install the drivers (such as Intel, Nvidia, Realtek, etc) using the latest release from component manufacturer directly.santathe1 likes this. -

Thanks ever so much, Kevin. I've rep'd you before and when I try now, it keeps saying "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action.". Don't know why, but I will keep trying.
I followed your advise and got the Synaptics Driver "Synaptics_v19_0_19_1__C__x86-x64__Win10__Signed__MS_Win10_UXUI", which is older than what I used to have(that didn't work). This one totally works.
Then Killer, I got "KillerSuite_1.1.57.1686_Win7_Win81_Win10.exe" from the killer website, and that works a treat too. Hurrah!!!
I did actually get the KLM and SCM from GT80 Titan or GT72, neither of them work. And "Sound Blaster Cinema". These are the 3 I'd really like to have, please.
I must say, without the "Sound Blaster Cinema", the sound is horrible and sounds extremely cheap. I guess you never really know how good you've got it until it's gone.
To be completely honest, I am thoroughly disappointed in MSi, How can the GT60 2OC reach EOL. I mean, it is understood that anyone who gets a laptop that is upgrade-able, would upgrade it and thus use the laptop for quite a while.
Thanks again, Kevin. But to summarise, the drivers/apps I'd like to have are SCM, KLM and "Sound Blaster Cinema". You're the best, even if you aren't able to find them for me.
Cheers!

Now the reputation error is "You must spread reputation to at least 3 other user(s) before you can give reputation to Kevin@GenTechPC again.
And there's no one I know that I'd like to rep. :/ -
And the SCM that works is here.
For Sound Blaster Cinema, Google how to load up Net Framework 3.5 on Windows 10 (pretty simple), and download SBC here. After installing, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative\Sound Blaster Cinema\Sound Blaster Cinema\ and look for the "SBCinema.exe.config" file. Delete it or rename it (can simply change the name to SBCinema.exe.config.old if you like). Reboot and you're stylin'. You will need to run the Sound Blaster Cinema EQ to get the speakers sounding correctly (can be downloaded from the same page).santathe1 and Kevin@GenTechPC like this. -
And...FWIW, I seemed to have 'solved' my last problem getting Win10 on this laptop (GT70-2OC-065US) a few minutes ago. Win10 seemed to load drivers for the Synaptics touchpad that functioned, but I kept reading about issues, so before I even gave the Win10 drivers a chance, I downloaded the drivers from Synaptics that everyone seemed to say you HAD to have for Win10 (v19.0.19.1 from the Synaptics website) . They did OK, but the touchpad lockout button did not work. Bugged me, since when gaming I'd always swipe the pad by accident and die a horrible death on screen.
So...after a couple of days of wondering what to do, I thought I might try some different drivers, starting with the ones that Windows loads. Uninstalled the 19.0.19.1 drivers, reboot, and went into Device Manager and told Win10 to go automagically get updated drivers. Install, reboot, and now my lockout button works & everything! Me so happy!
Only thing I've noticed is that neither the Win10 drivers (driver date 8/20/15, version 19.0.22.0) or the ones I downloaded directly from Synaptics seem to have functioning 'momentum', where you can 'flick' the pad and the mouse glides on for a bit. I set it up in control panel, but no joy. I used that function a lot, and I miss it. Hopefully that might get addressed somewhere down the line.santathe1 likes this. -
Thanks very much, EchoWars, Sound Blaster is working now
Only thing is that, now, at every startup, the UAC wants me to confirm that I want SBCinema to run. It gets a little tiresome, is all. And I don't want to turn off UAC :/
As for your Momentum functionality, have you taken a look at the Synaptics Touch Pad Properties? It works perfectly for me using "19.0.19.1" version Drivers.
-
OK...Momentum does work....sorta. It's inconsistent. But, if your GT60 has the touchpad lockout button, I'd bet that it doesn't work with the 19.0.19.1 drivers. If that's the case, just go into Device Manager and tell Windows to update the drivers, and you'll get the 19.0.22.0 drivers that work peachy for me.
If you installed SBC as an administrator, then you'll get the UAC warning on every boot. I'd uninstall, reboot, and do it again, but this time do not install as administrator. -
If you mean Fn+F3 for touch-pad lockout, it does work actually. Just without the animation.
And I didn't "runas admin" the setup file for SBC, only double-click execute. I just checked and it was running in compatibility mode for XP. The problem was resolved once that was unchecked -
Hmmm. I lost the animation when I upgraded from Windows 8 Home to Windows 8.1 Pro. Haven't seen it for ages.
Curious that the downloaded Synaptics drivers work for you WRT the touchpad lockout.. But, as long as the supplied Windows 10 drivers work, I'll stay with 'em.
Glad you figured out what was up with SBC. Might be time to change your Windows 10 frown-y face to a smile-y one.
Edit: I see what you mean about 'the button'. The GT70 has two ways to disable the touchpad...Fn+F3, and a dedicated button, just below the left end of the spacebar. It has an LED that lights up a cute little graphic of a trackpad with a diagonal line through it, a bit like the graphic that used to pop up on the display. You can see it (barely) in the pic below:
This pic shows it better:
In the pic below. you can clearly see that the GT60 does not have the button.
No big deal, but I like the LED to remind me when the trackpad is off or on.
When I used the Synaptec 19.0.19.1 drivers, neither the button nor the Fn+F3 functioned as intended. So clearly the addition of the button on the GT70 and other models is problematic for the 19.0.19.1 drivers, but not the 19.0.22.0 drivers loaded by Win10.Last edited: Mar 26, 2016 -
My laptop is continuously freezing up and BSOD'ing, I can barely play any type of game without my GT60 stuttering and eventually bsod'ing, Im guessing it has to do with somehting in the Nvidia drivers, should i be updating through the nvidia experience or should i just keep the drivers that are given on the msi website?
