That is one way to improve THD and Stereo Crosstalk. However the lack of a dedicated DAC, coupled with some low end capacitors and software decoding still keep them way below dedicated setups![]()

I was experiencing some rather annoying sudden disconnects when playing WoW and Diablo 3, which did not occur when simply browsing the net or watching YouTube videos. Now, I can't be certain if it was Killer's fault, but I went ahead and uninstalled the Killer suite and then installed the drivers from their website, and since then (knock on wood!) I haven't had any problems whatsoever.
-
The problem with killer I get when I have wireless (Bluetooth) AUDIO devices connected through the system. It makes the system freeze regularly. Even now, while I am typing I have my ZiiSound D5x X 2 X 1 subwoofer connected to the system and it freezes every 1-2 minutes... I do not know how to fix this; I just ordered a intel 6235 wifi / Bluetooth adapter since are the most reliable. I really hate killer cards, they create a lot of problems in the system. Sometimes my system keeps freezing so long that I get fed-up and I have to do a hard reset.
I thought the problem is with something else, but when I do not use the Bluetooth speakers / headphones everything is perfect (I tried all that: clean installation, other killer / Atheros drivers)... -
I wonder if we could reprogram the buttons...
Maybe some memory hack since SCM handles them
-
Do you have links to cyberlink and the MSI recovery software from MSI website.

Curious of what you guys think - I don't mind the size of the 17" or 15". I own a 17" laptop now and don't mind the size one bit, but I'm not attached to it. So given that, if you guys had the choice of the 17" GT70 with a 256 840 Pro SSD or the 15" GT60 with 3x Plextor PX-M5M mSATA SSD (128GB x3 Super RAID 2), which would you go with? Would the 3xmSSDs be faster than an 840 Pro in the real world?
Or would you go with a single SSD and nothing fancy and bump up the processor? -
17" or 15" is really personal preference for moving the machine around... if you are happy with the size of your 17", then stick with that. Sitting at a desk I'd rather game on a 17", but I move my laptops frequently for work and play, so try and stick with a 14"-15" option... this go around I went with the GT60 for this reason. I figure while at my desk hardcore playing I'll just hook up my 24" external monitor
They have gotten really affordable.
As far as SSD's options, on paper and benchmark wise the 3 RAID option will be faster, but I can't see it being noticeable in daily usage... the 840 Pro is a really nice SSD! You will have less space however (256GB vs 128GBx3). If my choice was between the 3 RAID mSATA's or the 840 PRO and a faster CPU, I'd go faster CPU all day long.
For either situation I'd keep the 1TB HDD for main storage. As a side note, the Samsung 840 Pro is VERY power efficient, not sure if battery life is of any concern but it would have to be more efficient than the 3 separate drives. -
Has anyone tried the WHQL version of 320.49 Nvidia drivers with their 780M? I'm still on stock drivers (got my GT60 last week) and been waiting to upgrade....

they don't work , u will need an modded inf
-
I thought it is beta
and yes it does need mod on inf file.
I take that back, I guess I am a bit slow
I will try it now...

has anyone modded the inf ? also does it matter what section### is ?

Quick question for everyone since were on the topic of WiFi cards, is it even worth it to up grade to any of the offerings from gentech? As far as cost goes its not much to upgrade depending on what you want. On the flip side, if you do upgrade (depending on what you get) you will lose your Bluetooth 4.0 but for me its fine, I'm mean it would be nice to have Bluetooth conductivity but I could live with out it.
Edit- I would also like to add that it would depend on your internet speeds and router if is worth upgrading to a different WiFi card. -
I constantly see a 300Mbps link to my router. For me, I use it. I only have a 10Mbps internet connection, but I keep a local storage I transfer to and from a lot. It is personal preference on upgrading to a better card, bu I see no reason for it. A lot of people are impressed by the speed of connectivity, but do you use it? Would you ever use it? I used to work in a head-end of a phone company and their was the only place I saw a greater than 500Mbps connection.
Another reason to use a this wifi card over a weaker one is because of Mimo. This mimo card has been perfect. I do a lot of UDP streaming and a lot of packets are lost on regular siso cards. I rarely see a missed packet with this. This has made a huge difference in my TV watching compared to my other laptops.

modded inf:
I think someone posted this on the RAZER Forums
http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...new-razer-blade-razer-blade-pro-nvcvn.inf.zip -
Juliant man, it's kinda funny because you bought such a beast for more than 2000$... and just keep buying and upgrading the stock components
(fan, wireless...) -

Pft, wait till he wants a 4930mx lol.
-
Finally ordered mine
Upgraded the CPU to a 4800MQ, got 3 mSATA drives in RAID and upgraded the wireless card to a Intel Wireless-AC 7260 ( going to upgrade my router to AC ).
Now the hard part....waiting. -
Killerinstinct Notebook Evangelist
The 802.11ac is amazing
and congratz
-
Thanks!
Do you have one?
Tell me any issues with it or anything, would love to hear your input. -
Killerinstinct Notebook Evangelist
Yep I got the 7260 , it is absolutely amazing , however there is one thing that bugs me is that the WiFi meter jumps from 2 bars to full sometimes but the performance doesn't change so I think its a weird glitch
-
Sorry about changing the main current of the topic but have any of you guys already tried the lapping method on the surface of your heatsink ?
Worth it ? I'd like to give it a try but only on the heatsink
-
The fan problem I am sure nobody was going to help and I had to take care of it by myself, because it was functioning and 'doing' the work. MSI doesn't care about the noise as long as your machine doesn't fry. And I wrote to Ken about it, he told me some story about the 'speed' control when he knew the actual problem but maybe he didn't / couldn't get involved in it (Lately he did not even reply to my email). To keep going back and forth about it and not have it solved, doesn't do any good to me.
As per the killer card is a known problem, I had it even on my alienware m14xR2. That was something which bothered me when I ordered and I knew that I am going to face problems with it. I always like to go Intel related to anything like wifi / Bluetooth, I never had a problem with them. And if I call MSI to tell them about the problem, they will tell me to send the machine to them to have it replaced. Will that be worth doing it?! I do not think so...
Probably that was the reason I was always buying Alienware systems. I only had to call them each time and the next day I had the part at my door, no questions / delays... -
Ohhh so the issue with the Killer is that it freezes the system when using other bluetooth devices? Maybe that's why I haven't noticed it yet. Damm that sucks. Could it be a driver issue they need to work out?
-
I am thinking I will do that >
- 17" 4900MQ and then purchase 840 pro once I receive the machine. The Super RAID 2 is tempting, but I feel it's ahead of its time.. by the time anyone can use that actual performance, other parts prob need to be performing better anyway.
-
Woohoo, UPS just dropped mine off.... now to get wrapped up with work and get this puppy fired up!
Congrats IKAS V on yours, I know you've been hunting a new machine for a while! -
Thanks bro!
Tell us what you think of your new pride and joy and cograts yourself. -
well, got her unboxed and getting updated now... will take a couple hours I dare say to get tweaked like I want
Have to say, holy smokes batman that turbo fan is about as loud as sitting inside an airplane! I assumed the turbine references were a joke lol But, as others have said, almost totally silent sitting here downloading updates without turbo fan.
Nice machine is first thought, look forward to playing with it later and will share some thoughts. Touchpad is smaller than I'm used to, but really like the keyboard. -
i wish xotic pc would ship mine already. the wait is killing me slowly....
-
Yeah, I understand completely... I try and support the resellers and have in the past several times, but enjoy doing all my own upgrades anyway, so went with Amazon this go round... they had it in stock and with overnight shipping for $3.99 as a prime member, hard to beat. After researching for weeks, I was about out of patience ha. They had two when I ordered Saturday night, I got one and someone else got the other. Seem to be selling well.
-
amazon use to be my go to place. tax is a deal breaker for me.
-
luckily I'm still in a state that they don't charge tax... that's going to be a rude awakening for me when they are required to ha!
Ran a couple quick 3DMark 11 to test system stability:

+135 Core/+400 Mem using Afterburner:

Had to chuckle, I've never actually seen the tests run smoothly
My previous fastest run on any machine ever was a P2987
-
Nope. Its a card issue. I tried 3 drivers and the same issue happens. I guess if you do not use bluetooth audio devices you will be just fine without any issues...
-
Thanks for letting me know, I might then change the wireless card down the road!
-
Very nice scores mate!
-
People! Pherein's fan tool works on the GT60
I have been testing and using a max fan speed of 75% I have sustained 83-85 max temps on my GPU, 75 on my CPU while playing some games. This keeps the turbo clock on of 850mhz permanently. Sure it's no longer a quiet laptop but now I have cool temps without the need to using the turbo fan button all the time. It's more of a comodity, because I can always just use the Turbofan button and get it over with hahaha
-
Nice to know that. You care to share a profile created by you (I am sure you must have saved it; you can zip / rar it and post it here)
-
Please note that the issue is ONLY with Bluetooth audio devices and nothing else... Unfortunately most of my audio stuff is based on Bluetooth and that is a problem for me. I could buy an external dongle and use the Bluetooth from that instead of the card, but since the intel 6234 is only $20, I got it in case of emergency...
-
Sure
I was just messing around but here is the one I am currently testing/using. It is named "quiet" only because that's the profile I started modifying.
It has the following settings:
Temp Fan %
55 31
65 40
70 55
75 65
80 75
88 80
90 100
I left the 90 to 100% sort of an emergency per se. Considering that not even overclocked with turbofan I ever reached that high, it's more of a safety measure. Considering how loud it was on stock, I imagine MSI had a max fan speed around 60%
View attachment Quiet.zip -
Thanks a lot. I am going to try it out and see how it works. I did try it earlier and was not very happy with the way was performing...
-
Sweeet! Thanks for posting that ryzeki. Saved it for future use
-
You guys are all welcome! I hope you do find use for it
I know it's not the best profile yet and I am still testing it,but the idea is to have strong cooling despite the loudness. I will additionally tweak it to have it being more seamless.
-
Ok, found my first hurdle... has anybody had luck playing a Blu-Ray movie on this thing with the included Cyberlink software? Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong... I've tried multiple movies, DVD's play fine once I updated PowerDVD10, but every BluRay I try and play gives me a read error. It starts to load them, is recognized fine, and then the read error and stops playback. Has anyone else run into this? File explorer seems to read the files totally fine fine so I struggle to see it being a hardware issue, have to assume this is a PowerDVD issue of some sort?
Thanks! -
Just a thought -> Make sure your system is 'US' model and not from somewhere else (like asia), though I know you bought it in US. I wonder if it could be a region issue. Try the 'trial' version of AnyDVD HD and see if it helps...
-
That file does not help to install those drivers.
Just restart without the driver signature issue and place this file in the NVidia driver folder (doesn't matter what version of driver).
View attachment nvwin.zip -
Thanks for the tips, I set the region upon first play so that shouldn't be the problem, but AnyDVD HD solved the problem.... so, curious what that means or what the problem is? All Blu-rays that would not play with PowerDVD10 (out of box version w/ GT60 as is and patched to latest version) now play with PowerDVD just fine... no idea what that means or why! Movies looked great though!
-
Killerinstinct Notebook Evangelist
arent those for the 320.20 drivers , do they work with 320.49? -
Yep. It just adds to the list the 780M driver and it will install the 320.49 components / files.
-
Yep. But they still write the files from the 320.49 driver and it will work just fine.
-
It must be some video encoding not being able to do playback. Those copyright dvd's / bluray's mess up your system with their protection, sometimes hardware doesn't know how to react to it. And the truth is that with anydvd hd (though it is a bit expensive) you do not have to keep changing your region and keeps your bluray intact...
-
Juliant
How did you get those driver to install? I try it with the modded INF. file and I keep getting the fail error. Thank!
