You can buy it from here LAPTOP & TABLET SCREEN, LCD panels from $34.99. Dell, HP Compaq, Toshiba, Acer, IBM Lenovo, Sony, Gateway, Apple, Asus replacement screen display panel. They are very reliable. You can chat with them or call them and ask them about the model no. Unless you open your screen and you will know what you need.

If you buy it from them, please ask them to test the screen before they ship it (it may delay a bit the order). The price is very reasonable ($50-$60). They have both models matte and glossy. Best of luck! :)

I have a question about these image files... Is this a clean Windows 8 image? Or do they include the software that is shipped with a stock system? I'm curious to know... Thanks in advance!

Probably due to the system needing the battery to be there at all times. It draws power from it when heavily loaded. Just leave the battery in and you'll be good. Also, if you download and use XTU version 3.2, you can OC that 4700MQ to 36X instead of 34X. It has 2 unlocked turbo bins, but only version 3.2 will work with the system for some reason.

Those are MSI recovery image with bunch load of their stuff in there. Unless you lazy, I recommend you to make a clean install of Windows 8, and download driver from their website. That way you will be able to know better about your laptop, easier to know what thing cause problem for your laptop also.

Best thing about recently new laptop is the manufacturer included Windows product key in your laptop BIOS already, so you don't have to do anything, just put Windows 8 installation disc in, format the hard drive and install. Windows 8 will be activated automatically.

Ha, no worries, I'm always the first in line to try these things and fully know they aren't always an improvement. Was hopeful here because it changes an area I'd like improved! It's not that big of deal, just not sure why they did what they did. All I can tell is it's now way louder at startup, marginally louder at idle, and makes no difference at all under load where the problem is. Hopefully they'll release another version.

I'd prefer my sports cars outside ;) I do startup, restart, or wake from sleep at least a few times a day, as I take the laptop to work and also for play at home as well. It's rather obnoxious sitting at a conference table, opening the lid and all the sudden all hell brakes loose... gets more than a few stares! No idea why they implemented this "feature". It's literally full turbo boost at startup every time now.... yet no improvement while gaming ha

Why the heck would they do that? I am really glad I waited to give this a try on mine. Will be avoiding now. I am perfectly happy with my silent laptop at statup and while doing anything but gaming. And will continue to just hit turbo fan while gaming. Sounds easy enough to me, and only makes my laptop turbine loud when gaming. Maybe if we all send MSI support emails or call them it will get fixed. Possibly posting in the actual MSI website forums would help.

Also does anyone know what they changed with the bios update on the website? My bios version is slightly newer than the latest posted on the msi website. But there doesn't seem to be any kind of notes or change log. Just wanted to know what they added or fixed.

Confused myself, but hopeful still they do realize there is an issue and they can easily resolve it.... but until then stay away, you are much better off!

On a total different note, I've been having an issue that was driving me NUTS not related to gaming, just normal PC usage... randomly, when I would restart or shutdown and then power back up, I would get hammered with a "configuring windows features" screen, either on shutdown, startup, or both. Wasn't consistent, and was driving me batty as now not only does it sound like I'm starting up my personal hovercraft at the conference table, but it also takes several+ minutes to boot or shut down randomly. I've had the problem since the second day, and was going to just reformat and reinstall windows clean, but was curious what might be wrong.

A quick google search happened to turn up on the VERY FIRST RESULT ha an issue with MSI laptops... maybe this is old news with MSI and I just totally being new to the brand have missed it. But, apparently there is an issue with their factory installs that includes 30+ language packs which causes Windows to go nuts trying to deal with and eliminate extras once your chosen language is determined, ie it must get rid of the rest. See this post for info if you have run into this problem:
    Windows 8 "Configuring Windows Features"

Was glad to see at least my problem acknowledged with similar machines. I tried the solutions here but unfortunately SFC (system files check) kept having an unresolved issue. So, now moved on to the solution to that problem:
DISM - Fixing Component Store Corruption in Windows 8

After Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, it found corruption and resolved the issue, per the report. Restarted now a couple of times and so far all appears well. System seems to boot a bit faster as well even when not stuck in the "configuring windows features" loop, so apparently something was amuck with my factory install.

I'll report back if the problem returns. At that point all I'll know to do will be a clean reinstall. But, wasn't quite ready for that as the machine and install itself once updated and cleaned up a bit was running well and setup to my liking other than this issue. Sorry if this is a well known MSI issue or repeated info I missed! Was the first time I have run into it through multiple machines and Windows 8 installs.

My new GT60 2OD seem going fine with me now. Thank be77solo on your advice. Still have several problem with USB 3.0 port, but not so serious.

Now the time to sell my old GT60 0NE. Anyone experienced selling MSI laptop before? How do I transfer the warranty info to new owner? How much I should sell my GT60 0NE 220US with stock configuration?

Anyone noticed that the birghtness changes automatically on battery power on windows 8?

Yeah I've noticed it too. This shows that windows 8 IS a mobile OS afterall but not in notebook's terms :p

I'm wondering, would I be able to replace the 1TB hdd with a 2TB WD Green? It's 15mm in height so I don't know if it'll fit...Don't have the time to open the machine right now and check it :p
Can someone do it for me?

15mm is huge, so I doubt it. The screen brightness makes sense but I am pretty sure you can turn that off.

Bios here. I am getting either slv7 or ultragsm to create and unlocked bios for us. I am not sure how todo it. And wasn't able to get the tool slv7 sent me to work. I pledge a donation to his laptop in return for our unlocked bios.

    Thanks!

The automatic brightness change is inside the intel hd control panel so you can disable it under power options unplugged.

    It's Intels power saving technology.

I think some people managed to get those 2tb drives in the optical caddy on other machines but I guess that will depend on clearance. It might fit inside the msi sata bays since there is quite abit of space to the back cover but not sure you could use the mounting hardware.

I don't have my Gt60 yet, but in about 5 days I should. I could do it then for you. In the meantime can you please upload the tool so we can dump the bios?

Have you flashed the unlocked 780M bios yet? (its mentioned in the GT70 thread)

Just a thought..... try Svet's Vbios Tuner..... already tested on the GT70 2OD, Svet is a programmer, an MSI forum admin, and his tool offers a full range of features, allowing full user customization of the vbios. Have it your way! Carefully following his instructions for use, I think it also offers an added safety factor as well.

Thanks for the feedback guys :)
I'll opt for the external model then. USB 3.0 so speed won't be an issue. All my stuff and work projects are eating the 1TBs fast. Only 2GB left :p

    @striker

That tool is great!! I remember using it for the gtx570m and it did wonders with stability in OC. I did flash my GPU in a Windows 7 environment with the DOS NVFLASH, rebooted and voila, job done.

he is talking about the Laptops bios not the vbios,

also personally , i would rather have an unlocked vbios vs constantly flashing the vbios in windows

Yeah, Svet does good work.... with CPU unlocks too. I've used his tool with the 570M and 580M, all with no problems. I've had more issues with a non-cooperating NVFlash than his tool, but Svet will assist with that too. He's always been good with updates and support.

I bit the bullet and last night opened my GT60. Nope, that 15mm drive does not fit..the space is not enough :(
I also noticed that I have a NSTECH fan too like others but mine is not noisy at all. At idle I must put my ear very closely to the exhaust port to hear it. Putting the back panel has become harder too (without breaking the clips). Fortunately I've got my cellphone repair kit with me :D
In the end I'm getting an external 2TB drive :)
I'd prefer an unlocked BIOS to an unlocked Vbios right now. The 780m is plenty powerful for my gaming needs.

    Back to work!!

 Very weird today , 1 of the MSI reseller say :" year 2013 MSI notebook no include Turbo Drive Engine because Intel 4th Generation processor cannot be overclock, this 4th generation processor is design for power saving purpose "
    this statement true ?

Actually 4th generation Core CPUs have most of their base components "onboard" (Vrms, DMI interface etc). TDE increased the base clock. At first it was the motherboard in control that clock. Right now it has been shifted to the CPU itself and Intel has locked it down. Only turbo boost multipliers are unlocked (on non extreme models). TDE has been fully automated (Nvidia Boost 2.0 and Intel turbo boost). That statement is true for MSI notebooks but only for non extreme models. The 4930XM with an unlocked BIOS can offer much more (at a price however :()

OMG, i just place an order ......
seem like Ivy Bridge more potential than Haswell (on non extreme models) .....
How about the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU version3.2) ? I saw some of them overclock CPU using this software . It is permanently locked down ? or can be unlocked in future by user ?

Don't worry XTU is supported by the BIOS on this models (GT60/GT70). You can't overclock but you can force it to run at max turbo boost all the time on all cores. A 4700qm runs at 3.3GHz without problems (unless heat becomes a factor when run in conjunction with the 780m).
With an unlocked BIOS you can force it to run higher turbo boost multipliers 24/7 on locked CPUs. The 4930xm is another story (can reach desktop i7-4770 performance with the right BIOS settings) but right now is expensive and not worth it IMHO. Also TDE made a really small difference at least for me.. :p

Does the 3 x mSata bay card connect to a 2.5 sata3 port ? If so is it possible to install say a 512 840 Pro SSD there? If so can you raid the 2 drives or does raid only work on the mSatas?

I'm just planning on what I will do with my Samsung 840 pro :)

Yes thats what I meant! :)

Also I've been lurking over at the Alienware M17 forums, and it seems like MSI isn't the only OEM that has a weird fan profile for cooling the 780m. One user reported 88C for gpu OC 100/200 in 3d11. I tested that OC and ran at stock fans settings and didn't break 80C on GPU/CPU. My temps did increase a few degrees after upgrading to the 4900MQ. I chalk it up to the higher clock speeds. Also they seem to be scoring lower than MSI/Clevo cards. Dell set some weirdly low temp thresholds for thorttling to occur.

After seeing those temps though I am even more confident in MSIs cooling system. It does get very noisy with turbo fan, but at least it gets the job done well.

    Edit:

I have a Dell 240w slim power supply inbound. I am not sure how well it will work, or at all. I did buy an adapter to use it with this laptop. Hopefully it works.. Also I wonder if Hybrid Power will limit my ability to use more power? Using that won't damage the laptop would it? Its the same voltage as the stock power supply.

Sorry it +150mV, been playing sleeping dog without a problem. Mine is set at +162.5mV. The voltage won't stick unless you set it at +150mV or higher.

I have been playing with 980/2900 as my clocks for 4 days now, using my personal fan profile. Using vsync in games, I was playing usual games like LoL, Crysis, Alan wake etc barely breaking 80C temps for the CPU and GPU :)

Now I shall try new vbios to get even higher! Anyone got any good vbios? My tech infermo account is never really used, anyone care to pm/email me some nice vbios to thinker with? :D

I do recommend pherein's tool! As well as my current profile :)

hi, my new laptop will coming next monday ...
I like to add Plextor SSD mSATA 128GB into my new laptop and create RAID 2 since this laptop only come with 64GB x 2 mSATA SSD ...
If different capacity and brand of SSD mSATA ,can RAID 2 work ?

RAID 2 won't be possible AFAIK. Only RAID levels 0 and 1 are BIOS enabled on these systems. Also better not mix SSDs of different manufacturers. I would suggest you get 2x 128GB Plextors in RAID 0 and use one of the 64GB Sandisks as a cache for the HDD in the second slot. Best of both worlds. Performance and storage ;) :D

Can you raid 0 or raid 1 both 2.5" bays? So if I got 2 x Samsung 840's I could raid them? Or does raid only work on that mSata card?

Edit: Also my Gt60-2OD shipped yesterday, arriving Monday ;)
