I have 4.3 but needs a tick of voltage to get it done. 4.4 is needing more than 2 ticks to get stable so I've given up on that.

My focus has been to find the machines highest stable performance under stock voltage conditions. :)

Hello guys,
I just got my gt60 from gentech and I'm quite pleased with it. Gonna start with a fresh copy of win8 and then benchmark it.

I've got a minor problem: stuttering. Regardless of graphics settings, high or low, my games stutter occasionally... just a short freeze. Anything I can do to fix this, or do I need to wait for a driver update?

Gaming mode, plugged in, 9.18.13.1183 driver. It happens on every game I've tried aside from Minecraft, so LoL, Smite, Rift, Neverwinter, Path of Exile, Tera and Blacklight Retribution.

Edit: When gaming, my temps never go over 85 degrees, and rarely even get that high.
Double Edit: When gaming, I've been running an overclock of +135/+400 on my gpu and 34x multiplier on my cpu, haven't tried it without an OC yet.

Are you playing with vsync? I get some microstuttering in some games where my GPU produces a hell of a lot more fps than 60, and vsync limits it. Case in point, Dishonored, which runs around 130fps withoyt vsync, feels microsstuttery with it.

How stable are the beta 326.19 drivers, anyone know? Just checked, and my driver is equivalent to 311.70, so an update might be in order. If they aren't very stable, I'll update to 320.49.

As for vsync, I haven't been enabling it when gaming.

Edit: Tried without the overclock and still had some stuttering.
Double Edit: Went ahead and tried to install 320.49... it says that I don't have the supported hardware. MSI laptops don't work with the plain Nvidia drivers, we have to wait for the MSI supported Nvidia drivers?

Perfect case and point, same thing when I had my y500 with sli 750m playing tf2. I was having the same problems. After some digging I found a solution using MSI afterburner, use the in built fps limiter to 61 and turn vsync on, try that.

so okay, super dumb question...I just noticed I got one of the nstech fans in my rig. Is the T&T's available from anywhere? I tried to PM majster msi, but the forum doesn't trust me yet (apparently). Getting an error page when I pull that up.

I haven't read anything negative on it although I haven't been on top of this thread all the time. What I can say is that I tried to install it and my computer told me that no supported hardware could be found.

The 320.49's work and perform great, but Nvidia hasn't updated the driver inf to support the new 780's so you need to use a modified inf with the proper device ids. The 326 betas will install as is, but I've read enough issues with them that I'm waiting until the next stable release and keep using 320.49s in the mean while. For full easy to follow install instructions search the gt70 thread.

For others interested, Inspector also has a frame rate limiter that works great as well! Glad you got it sorted, I run mine at 59 without v sync with good results so far and no noticeable input lag. Bonus is it cuts the gpu usage quite a bit overall so things run cooler and quieter to boot!

Edit.... sorry for the double post ;)

No problem, from my best knowledge of that post, they tried limiting it to all different fps's even 60 and it didn't help. I guess 61 was the magic number, everyone knows its common with low fps's and sli/crossfire setups, but in this case its because the fps's are higher then the screens refresh rate can handle resulting in micro shuttering. For anyone who has experienced micro shuttering but doesn't know what it is, its when your graphics card is putting out frames at varying/unequal intervals of time (frame A is on your screen for 20ms, frame B is on your screen for 60ms, etc), which gives the illusion of choppy game play. In the case of a sli/crossfire setup, its basically the same time but when the fps drops below 20.

Dude, I'm going to try that !

I've been playing Tomb Raider with Fraps. It shows me in most cases, constant 60 fps but I was wondering why I got stuttering.
I'll give you guys a feedback in the morning ;)

Since nobody has replied to you yet, I will let him know that you are looking for the fan. BTW, you have to post atleast 5 times to enable you to send PM's, download attachments etc.

P.S. For you guys who want to install NVidia 320.49 driver, just replace the inf file attached here (previously posted several times) and you will be able to install the driver.

Only other tip, when using a modified inf you must also reboot with driver enforcement disabled to allow it to install... once you reboot and install the driver, after the next reboot it automatically turns back on and you are good to go.

Hey guys,

Can somebody help me ?
I've been uninstalling my 311.48 drivers. I put the nvwin in the 320.49 folders, disabling the signature drivers stuff...

After the drivers was installed, I got a BSOD : Driver Power State Failure.
Same thing, I can't even install Geforce Experience because it completely froze my system.

Anyone knows the issue ?

Thx

Thats a software to completely remove driver leftover files and registry keys. It's best to use it when installing a new driver so to start clean and avoid conflicts with previous versions.

Another question guys. I know it's already been said because I read it, but sorry for that, can't read again the 130 whole pages of this thread : for some reason, once steam is launched, my baby is using the best GTX 780m even if I'm not playing.
How do you guys fix this in order for the laptop to use Intel HD Graphic for steam ?

Thx for the response.

Good luck with the driver upgrade, once you use that modified inf and disable driver enforcement it should install seamlessly... I'd definitely try the cleaning tools recommended above for a fresh install.

As for Optimus using your 780m for Steam, it's a setting under Nvidia control panel: 3D Settings---->Magage 3D settings----->Program Settings----> Add Steam to the drop down list and set it to use Integrated Graphics.... this is the same way you can change which GPU is used for any game or program.

Hey, new GT60 owner here coming from a long time HP Envy series holder! First, gotta say i'm loving my new laptop that I got today. However, I have one qualm about it. Does anyone else see SCMII and the Keyboard manager in the alt-tab window unnecessarily? Like they are listed as running programs but when you select them, they wont open since they're background apps. I just find them annoying to be listed there. Anyone else have this happen?

Yep, just checked, they are listed as running programs while alt-tabbing. It's not just yours :) Easiest solution would be uninstalling the programs, but then obviously you'll lose their uses. The keyboard will remain lit as you've locked it before, even with the manager uninstalled.

When I first got my GT60, it idled at around 35-40. Now it idles at 50 after a few months. I really, really, really, really, really hate applying thermal paste...what are people's normal idle temps? Load temps? My load temps hit ~88.

Is reapplying paste my only option? I never want to have to do it again.

Outside temps are fairly nice today at 25C. Laptop is in High Performance mode and CPU is at 42C with browsing and spotify playing, and GPU is at 37C. My 4700MQ did run a couple degrees cooler than my 4900MQ. But I wouldn't worry about idle temps very much anyways. Load is where it all matters.

Right, well as to the alt tab issue, you can simply close the apps via task manager and then run them again when they're needed.

Question. I ordered my laptop from XoticPC and I dont seem to have any paper regarding warranty registration and I had my laptop wiped of all bloatware before they sent it. Would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction? I'm stressing a bit about the 30 day time limit to get that all done.

https://www.msimobile.com/productreg/productlogin.aspx

Go there, setup an account, and register your laptop. It will have you print out a form and then fax/mail that with a copy of your receipt or invoice.

Easiest way, send a fax. I didn't have immediate access to a fax machine, so I found a free digital fax service. No registration required.

Free Fax • Free Internet Faxing

My warranty was updated the next day by MSI. Goodluck.

Hey guys,

For some reason, hwinfo today does not show my "current temperature" for the GPU. Everything else is alright.
(I overclocked my GPU a little bit via afterburner).

Do you know how i can fix it ?

Thx a lot :)
