Yeah except what I needed was NOT located on the the front page. I clearly said my laptop came without any instructions for register the warranty as I got it though XoticPC. I just wanted to make sure I was using the right site due to the 30 day restriction. I can understand trying to keep the forum tidy, but whining about reading the lead post and redirecting people there to be lazy defeats the purpose of this site. Especially after someone has already so kindly answered the problem. Get off your high horses.

Allow me to introduce myself...... I can be grumpy!
The forum is about marketing and advertising, and to this end, social networking. It's participating membership is comprised of notebook novices, gamers, enthusiast, and industry professionals alike. Amongst the membership, it is about the sharing and exchange of information, and ideas.
What seems to have offended you, is a little fun at your expense. EXPECT IT! Many new members post questions (over, and over, and over again) that have frequently been addressed, FAQ's links have been posted, manufacturer websites provide answers, and is readily available in the search engines. Sorry, but seasoned members do expect YOU to do a little homework, and it is a FACT, many come here too lazy for this, expecting the voluntary membership to do the work for them. A FACT, and if you do not understand this, you have not been reading the forums for very long...... AND, another FACT, many ask the questions, without reading at all! Some new members even have the misguided perception that we are here to be their personal Answer Smurf. These really tickle me, especially when they get mad, because they don't receive an instant reply. So, yes, many members ire and grow weary over such as this..... and rather than telling members to 'Get off your high horses', have some understanding, and do your part.
Since you have been a member since 2010, I am surprised you have not understood this by now.
I clearly posted the following in the lead post of the GT70 2OD thread, and hence, my satire:

He loaded some additional software, then added some more programs to show that win7 ultimate will boot faster. Not sure, but if you give me 85 extra dishes to do, I would take a bit longer to do them...

That guy is clearly maladjusted, an egotist on an agenda of obsession..... with a bone to pick, and bridges to burn, he broadcast to the world, "IDIOTs ABOUND, and I AM LIVING PROOF!" When I first started reading this thread was inclined in buying this system (though the heat issue was keeping me doubtful). Once I got the machine, I went straight to MSI website, created an account and followed the instruction on this very first page of the thread and had the machine registered within no time. There was no need for him to mention about his horses (he must be on a ranch), I was only courteously answering / helping him; but he took it the wrong way and became nasty for no reason... MSI didn't seem to have handled his case properly. while i will only take his opinions and so-called facts with a grain of salt, i'm not going to say i'm completely surprised by the awful experience he had. big companies and corporations do have the "big corporate image" or whatever and unfortunately, all that stuff happened to him does suck and he does have a right to voice his opinion. -

This is my understanding, but I could be completely backwards as well ha... the NStech growl/hum/grind whatever you want to call it is a bit annoying in a quiet environment, but I use turbo boost when I game and love the cool temps, so curious if the T&T could match the max speed cooling.
Not sure I actually answered anything -

I know what you mean about the heat vs. cooling issue..... a problem challenging all notebook manufacturers. MSI has done 'fair' job considering the tech, but if it's any consolation, I know they are mindful of our current concerns. They are listening, and I expect future improvements with this, including power mgmt. and the PA as well.

I've got both the fans and at turbo they are both satisfactory fast (Maybe the T&T one not as fast but it does cool to the same temperature). However, I am very happy with the T&T one while doing nothing (browsing, movies, music etc.), because it is very quite and does not disturb at all. The nstech one was driving me nuts and tried everything possible to make the noise at idle as less as possible, with not so much success. I guess if you spend so much for this machine, does not make so much difference if you do shell out another $50 bucks also...

There's gotta be other fan options we can investigate right? Is there a sweet spot? Who's a hardware guy who can help us find a 12vdc fan that'll fit and make everybody happy?

Hey everybody i received my gt 60 on monday and have been messing with it since. There are few things bothering me... first and foremost, does everyone have problems with their killer wireless n-1103 card? Mine has been a headache since the beginning. the drivers wont install properly and ive been getting that limited connectivity issue. Its a big headache. if anyone has had any solution please feel free to let me know. Also, i have been noticing some pretty high temps playing games like crysis 3. can anyone recommend an accurate software to monitor my temps? and lastly anyone know any ways to optimize my system safely for best performance? (settings, drivers, software...etc) This is a very nice system and has much power. but getting all these bugs and fixes out of the way is tiresome... any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. ill list my system specs in case it helps.

Killer wireless n-1103 -
Are you sure is that network card killer wireless 1103 or 1202?! After you install the driver for the killer it will ask you to run the speed for your network (once you are connected to a wifi or something). Press on the 'Yes' button and then close everything. There you are! It will not take you through any other test unless you change again your network connection (wired or wireless).
Almost everyone is using HWInfo for monitoring their system's temperature (which is a free program). I prefer AIDA64 for some reason (maybe because I am used to it). And if you experience high temperature in your system, unfortunately your only solutions are:
1 - Re-apply thermal paste;
2 - Maybe replacing the thermal pads (as suggested by Meaker use the 05 mm thermal pads - you can get from frozencpu.com);
3 - Buy a cooling pad and have it setup on it, especially while running games.
I think that should solve your heat issues... Enjoy it and Best of luck! -
juliant covered most of it. Additional tweaks are to play with turbofan on, or developing your own fan profile to have higher speed fan but not turbofan loud haha.
-
I'm having similar problems in terms of the 1202 wifi card. I have the latest drivers, is this a problem that everyone is facing? I've just been connecting by ethernet when available to ensure I maintain a steady connection.
-
I have no issues with my wifi card so far. But there are issues with bluetooth and the wifi card that have been reported by several users of different manufacturers I believe, when using killer 1202.
-
Hmm. The issue does sound disconcerting. I have the killer 1103, but i'll take a look and see if I have any issues. Normally I run Ethernet, but ill see via wifi.

hey just a random thing i just discovered about the color customization with the keyboard...
was everyone else aware that for each color their are 4 different bars to choose which shade you prefer??? just found out now while i was messing wit -
Well you guys, it's finally here. So far, LOVE it. whole decision is because of you guys hyping it so much. Next on my list is to download some monitoring software like you guys mentioned and maybe phereins tool or what not o.o

Yeah I am pretty sure. After installing the driver I get disconnected from the wifi momentarily and then reconnected and it'll say installation successful and asked to restart to finish installation. Upon restarting 2 things will happen: either it is disconnected and wont even detect a wireless signal or I become connected but when i try to go to view connection properties it says no profile was saved and then gives me some long number/letter code or something and i will go to device manager and i select my wireless adapter and i get a message saying windows cannot load the proper drivers... i do get that message to test network speed but when i am unable to connect upon restarting, I am unable to run the test. and the other times it will run the test but killer driver wont be installed properly. thats when i get that error message in the devide manager... -
Try to revert to an earlier installation if you have the restore system on. I know that killer driver gets messed up sometimes and the only solution is to have a clear copy / installation done. I have a windows image backup done without the Intel RST, without VGA driver and without killer driver installed. When one of them creates problems, I make a system restore and have only those 3 drivers installed all over again. I faced some problems with killer driver myself and the only solution was the one described above.
Unfortunately killer driver removal, or reinstalling the driver and have it uninstalled etc. will not be a good solution. I hope you could follow my explanation; all that I say is to try to have your system clean install or restored at an earlier stage, before getting this issues... I hope your problem will get solved. -

The solution you just mentioned is one I havent tried. Ill go ahead and try it. what did you mean by clear copy/installation? I am on windows 8 and am very unfamiliar with how about performing a system restore. You think you can point me in the right direction? Thank you. -
So far wifi has been totally stable, reliable and fast... have connected to four different routers without issue and usually have a 300mbs link, and downloads and online BF3 has been great. So, not sure if it's a driver issue or a hardware issue some are having with the Killer card. Haven't needed to bother with Ethernet yet.
I was one that had the driver issue with Bluetooth turning off and not being able to be turned back on. Reinstalled the driver to the latest version and it's been fine thus far, time will tellSo, definitely something a bit wonky with the Killer stuff, at least driver wise.

Hey so I wanted to update my Killer Drivers for my 1202, but MSi has version 6.1.0.596 while Killer's site has 6.1.0.400 something. Should I take the MSi one? Also, Killer's driver website makes a big deal about needing to uninstall the previous driver completely before installing theirs... should I do the same with the MSi version?
-
Are you having any problems with it?! Or you are just looking at it because there is a 'new' driver out there?! You know that say, don't fix what it's not broken... What I am trying to say, if it works okay don't meddle with it for no reason. It is not like you are going to see any difference in performance.
And to answer your queries, no matter what killer driver you have installed, you have to remove it completely before installing a new version. I hope you do not mind my earlier lecture -

I was always annoyed when I would lose connectivity every x-amount of time. That is actually happening to me right now and narrowed it down to my router. Every x-amount of time it lose connection to the WAN and will not reconnect for a while. Really is annoying, I am hoping work will come through and hook me up with a top-of-line router for free, or I mean to test!

No hard feelings intended either over on the Asus board! Glad to see the 750's are running great! Didn't mean to come across as negative if I did, my apologies. -
erikranger said: ↑Drunk - One way of testing this is using a smart phone. You can either use your phone as a hotspot and connect to it for a while or have your phone connected to the AP and using an app you can watch to see if this signal is dropping. If you think the AP might be reseting, you can always just pull up the history in the AP to see last boot.

Like the router itself just poops out and then comes back. Probably not the right place to ask... but worth a shot. I'll be using the internet fine, and my signal in the wireless manager on the bottom right of the screen (that little drop up menu) for "Wireless" is displayed as "802.11.n." However, right before the internet fails, it shows as 802.11.abgn. I've tried looking this up but haven't found anything.

So I flashed my GPU to the unlocked vbios, and now I don't have drivers lol. My GPU is not being recognized by the previous drivers. GPUz shows it somewhat unknown but showing the 1536 cores, 850 core 2500 memory.
Any idea on how to proceed? Maybe I need a modified inf and drivers? It shows as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter currently. -
Sorry for interrupting your issue ryzeki, but i have a quick question :
1st question : Will those thermal paste be fine for the 780m ? Cooling.fr - Pad Thermique ADHESIF Ultra Haute Performance 5W/mk 100*100*0.5mm - Pâtes & Pads Thermiques
I live in France so I can't get the same stuff as you guys in the US (100 x 100 x 0,5mm).
2nd one : I repasted my GPU with Artic Cooling MX4. After 30 minutes of BF3 or Tomb Raider (ultra) : I get 93°C max (no turbofan) !! Is that normal ? I read it is a little too much right ?
Thx for the answers -

You have to use drivers with a modified inf for the modified vBIOS as the the ID codes are not in the standard inf for the driver. I ran into the same issue after my flash and researched a bit on TechInferno. Use the modified inf floating around here we've been using and you'll install just fine. I'm currently running the 320.49's since my reflash and have been completely stable.

Thx for the answersClick to expand...but when pushed at 99% GPU usage in a demanding game the GPU temp will run to 93C eventually without turbofan and is normal... it's the fan speed MSI chose out of the box, and I hope they correct it with a revised EC flash, but in the meanwhile I use turbofan and temps drop to the low 70s or use the GT70 Fan Tool set around 70-90%. In less demanding games or with settings dialed back a bit temps drop as usage drops, but as you've seen BF3 on Ultra 1080p 4xAA will peg usage at 99% continuously.
EDIT: On a different note and not to go for 3 posts in a row :hi2: Does anyone have a good laptop sleeve they've found that fits the GT60? I'm looking for a fairly snug fit, ideally with a pocket but that's not required. I've got the old sleeve I used for my G73JH and it swallows the GT60... would like a smaller tighter fit. I've searched a bit on the boards and didn't run across anything, and most of the 15.6" sleeves I see in the store are too small. Have seen a couple 16" online but not sure how they'd fit. Thanks for any info! -

1. Let me recommend you the Phobya thermal pads as they tend to be very efficient at heat dissipation. You can find them on ebay. I'll PM you the link where I bought mine. They come from Germany so no import duties
2. It seems a bit high but in-line with the stock thermal paste performance. I'd recommend putting a good pair of headphones and game with turbofan. At least you're on the safe side.

Yeah thanks to Dttran83 I modded an inf file to install the beta 326.19 drivers but since I am not home right now I haven't messed up with it so much. If there is a proper inf file, I will use that.
Which drivers are currently the best? That allow overclocking. I plan on going over 1ghz /3ghz clocks -

1) Sorry I don't know the best pads but those can work. I think they should be 1mm but I am not sure.
2) I also get those temps. You can try repasting if you feel your paste job was off, but in my case, I also climb up to 93 and self downclock without turbo or custom fan. Now with my custom fan profile I game around 80 degrees.
I recommend you use software for framerate limiting, if you produce more than 60 or what you consider acceptable. It will help reduce temps a lot!
You can also try tweaking the CPU and undervolt it slightly to reduce temps on the CPU which eventually help the GPU. Monitor both CPU and GPU to see how both are faring
You should try both a laptop cooler and pherein's tool for the fan. Sure it is no longer silent when gaming, but my temps are more than manageable and I get to be overclocked. -
My SCM buttons stopped working (6 buttons flanking the power button, between the speakers)! SCM works OK navigating on screen with mouse.
I uninstalled and reinstalled SCM and it works with the mouse navigating on screen. The quick access buttons at the top of the machine are unresponsive. I see nothing in the BIOS that seems to deal with these. They worked fine for weeks. I expect this is a software/driver issue. Any ideas on what to do to get these working.
Many thanks for your attention and ideas.
