I haven't tried with older drivers and this is the only game that actually freezes randomly :(

May I ask you which settings and drivers are you using?

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply. Yes the Nvidia and the Intel GPU both detect the monitor fine. The problem is they just can't get beyond the 1080 resolution to the 1200 resolution.

Has anybody tried the HDMI as a way to get 1200 resolution. Maybe there is a driver limitation?
    Thanks

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, do you have any other 16:10 resolution option lower than 1920x1200? I was reading a bit from wikipedia for the HDMI and I read that the deep color specification of 48 bit/px allows HDMI up to 1920x1200 at 60hz, but it is optional and you can find 36 bit per px etc. We should find what's the max implemented on the notebook.

Your best bet though, might be using displayport instead of hdmi.

I wish I could help but I don't have any 1920x1200 monitor, nor anything higher than 1920x1080. Maybe I can test with my friend's monitor which is 2560x1440 just to ensure it's not a bandwidth problem.

I use a 1920x1200 external monitor on my GT70-2OD and it works fine.

1920x1200 should not have any issues with HDMI.

There you go, no issues with 1920x1200 :D

Why don't you try a custom resolution on the nvidia control panel and set it manually to such res?

I was able to get 1920x1200 from HDMI, Mini HDMI, and VGA. In fact, I did have all four screens running at the same time. My monitors recognized the signal and I had to do nothing with them.

I was trying to have a wider display, but I could not get it to work. This was also before the patch, I have not tried it since.

You could also try a different HDMI cable. I know once I have tried an HDMI cable and it was working in one 'direction'. if it was in one way, there was no signal to my tv, if I was to swap the connections the other way (move the hdmi connector cable from the tv and the one from the pc to the tv), it was working just fine. Just a thought though...

2560 x 1440 also works fine via HDMI or displayport. I know i'm running it.

Nvidia drivers all the new betas all seem to still have a massive ram leak issue. Left my system on a few days, Again low memory issue all my 16GB ram consumed.. :( Back to the official driver.

    Hey guys,

Have any of you already tried to play Castlevania Lord of Shadows (demo) on steam ? The game is supposed to run SMOOTH on our configuration but I can't even get like 15 fps !! It's so stuttering, and I guess it's a driver issue (I'm running the stock ones).
    Anybody can help me ?

    Thx a lot !!

Have you confirmed it's running off the discrete GPU? some games run from the intel HD and you have to force them to run from the internal GPU.

I upgraded to the latest Beta drivers awhile back and Skyrim works great except for the water bug. When playing on my desktop, I can see underwater, but on the laptop, it's just a solid color. It has to be an issue with Nvidia vs AMD drivers.

Issue solved buddy :) Thx anyway for responding.

I just installed the 320.49 with the modded inf and everything is NOW running SMOOTH !
Even Tomb Raider and Max Payne 3 are a lot more "fluid" with these drivers !

P.S. Any of you noticed a "new driver" message from GeForce Experience today? I have, but I'm not able to install them :(

I think I discovered how to run without the battery and not have the GPU throttle. You need the unlocked bios however. In the CPU Info, disable TDP level. Where it says TDP nominal, TDP UP or TDP down. Playing Total War Rome II My battery drops 1 % every 15 minutes it seems in 2560 x 1440p as we know Rome is a demanding game.

Not to clock up battery cycles I removed it. And noticed that my GPU will run at 849 Mhz not throttling like it did before running at 500Mhz or whatever it was.

Hello all I just purchased the MSI GT60 2OC 2OD and I love it minus a few things that I cant figure out and I am looking for some help.

    1. I only get a 7.2 for my graphics and this is low! I was wondering is there a way to configure so my system works only from the 780m or what can I do to improve this. I tried disabling the intel hd graphics in device
manager but my score lowered to 5.4 so I set it back.

    2. I am repasting the cpu and gpu with ic diamond next week and adding 2 more m sata ssds to run super raid 2 with 3 ssds on raid 0. My question with this is the gt 60 has the san disk 128 gb x100, Now can I use a different brand ssd that is also 128 gb and mix the san disk with the other brand and will that work? and if so once I put the 2 other drives in do I just put the recovery disks in and do a clean install to the raid setup if so whats that process like?

    all insight is appreciated.

Wow this is really strange. I am running driver version: 9.18.13.1170

The Custom resolution button is grayed out. The max resolution is 1680 x 1050 (native) or 1600x 1200. The NVidia control panel sees the monitor as an NEC EA 261 wm, which is correct.

When I use the VGA cable (tried two), or a DP to VGA adapter, I get the same resolution. 1680 x 1050

    So 2 questions:
    1) Is there a way to force the GPU into IGPU or dedicated GPU mode?
    2) Why can I not get the custom resolution to work?

ANY help is welcome. BTW: I have A LOT of experience with PC machines as I was a software testers for 14 years. This problem is hardware specific I think. Maybe the NEC device driver is too old and reporting back the wrong resolution. I will update that driver for Win 8.

    Thanks!!!

1- That score is because of using intel graphic, To WEI use dGPU, you needto plug into a monitor or HDTV with HDMI or Displayport.

2- No, you can't, you need to have same model also to setup the raid.

So I just picked up 3 Mushkin Enhanced Atlas Series MKNSSDAT120GB-DX mSATA 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Mushkin Enhanced Atlas Series MKNSSDAT120GB-DX Solid State Drive - Newegg.com

For my GT60 20D, I iwl be removing the 128gb san disk and putting all three in raid 0! I cant wait to see the speeds they have gotten great reviews and are much faster then the san disk ssd that comes stock also.

Any comments on this move or any insight please let me know.

I am also considering changing the 470mq to the 4900 mq when I repaste the cpu and gpu, what are you guys thoughts?

In my personal preference, i'd just pick the 4800mq, i don't think 100MHz more justify the almost 200$ difference between those 2 processors.
Yes, the 4900mq has 8mb cache instead of 6mb of the 4800mq... but that does not make much difference in performance also.

I agree with Meaker and kpablo. Altho in the end 4900 is a good processor, there is little reason to go for it if you can find the performance/value that exceeds it, and in the case of 4930x, that can drastically get more performance if properly tweaked.

The 4900MQ is ham stringed by TDP limits (as shown by us selling both overclocked to the same 3.9ghz) for serious tweakers and offers little benefit at stock.

Hey guys, recently I changed to the 326.80 beta drivers on nvidia. However, I noticed that in BF3 my GPU usage would drop from 89-90% to 30% random, which makes for massive stuttering. This also happens with the beta drivers before that. Is it my card or the drivers? The temperatures were fine when both these drops happened.

You can try roll back to previous drivers to test see if it's the beta drivers causing the issues or it's the video card. most likely it's the drivers.

I've got 3 x raid0 Plextor 128GB's and its good. Lot of Msatas out there that are faster than the X100 Sandisks. Its pretty quick raid 0 but you do have to watch out when playing with 4800MQ or 4900MQ overclocking you will corrupt the raid0 image in no time and need to backup often when doing this. My boot speed is very very fast from a cold boot. And movie editing or moving files from my raid to 840 Pro are super quick.

Not sure on the Mushkin speeds but I can do 1.4Gbs reads and 900Mb/s writes. I did post some benchmarks of my raid0 set up here many pages back.

I'm happy with my 4900MQ, I can run 3.9Ghz 100% stable 4 cores and 4.1 Ghz one core. But as mentioned due to TDP limits and intel not wanting it to compete overclock wise with the 4930MX you need to undervolt it to be able to overclock the turbos for high multilpers and longer turbo times.

Also the 4930MX is waaaay too expensive too. Even if I had cash to get one I'm not sure I would get that much more out of one over my 4900MX overclocks to make it worth it.

When you say you get corruption on the SSDs with overclocking is that through base clock or just multiplier?

That was when I was looking for best undervolting figures and OC. Windows would freeze up or BSOD while I was testing. After a few lock ups windows would not boot. Or repair itself. Had to use true image and restore a previous raid image.

Past all that and 100% stable now with nice undervolts and overclocks.

    It happens with Vsync enabled?
If is so, is driver issue, everyone it getting this drop. Since the 320 driver this stuttering happens. I don't remember if this happens too with the lastest driver from msi...
But does not happen when you disable Vsync...

Always worth testing undervolting with a backup or when you just got the machine (after creating backup disks) for this very reason :)

I just ordered this laptop from GenTechPC :)
Customized it to a 4800MQ, 3X 128GB mSATA in RAID 0, and an Intel AC wireless card. Hopefully I can run Starcraft 2 at a decent FPS in late game 1v1 200+200 supply fights!
