If this is without turbo cooler or cooler boost on then yes those temps seem acceptable. I find the line/grain of rice method works great on the GPU. A slightly thinner but elongated line works great on the CPU since it's very narrow and long.

Without turbo cooler. On the CPU i used line and on the GPU Cross Method. Should be a little better? ;)

    hi guys.

    I have a big trouble with my GT60 - 20D( win 8.1)

It came to me with only 8GB of ram, so i decided to buy 2 x 8 GB ddr3l bus 1600.

After i installed rams( totally 24GB); its always appear blue death screen with memory management error.

I have update bios to lastest version; wat should i do now.

    Thank guys.

No it's likely he is saying it "only" shipped with 8GB and he wanted more and now the ram he has is faulty and causing the machine to BSOD. What sticks did you order exactly?

I got that. What I didn't get is why it only had 8gb, since OEM spec is 16.

Take the existing one out, and use only the new matched pair, see what happens.

    Thank u guys.

After tried a lot of things i can do. Its still didnt work for me.

here my msi oem spec in my country.

    CPU 4rd generation Haswell Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i7-4700MQ (2.4 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz
    Memory 8GB DDR3 Bus 1600 Mhz
    HDD 1TB 7200rpm
    VGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5 / Intel HD 4600
    Display 15.6" WQHD+, IPS Display (2880*1620) , World' 1st gaming notebook with 3K WQHD+ (2880x1620)
    Driver DVD+/-R/RW
Other Webcam, backlight multicolor keyboard ,World's 1st gaming notebook with NVIDIA Surround technology , THX Speakers w/ Subwoofer, Audio 7.1
Wireless WL Killer N1202 Combo (2*2 a/b/g/n)+BT4.0 , Killer Gaming Lan
    Battery 9-cell Battery - 94Whr
    Weight 3.5 Kg
    SoftWare Free Dos

    I have installed 1 more SSD ( M4 256GB) and 2 KingMax 8GB DDR3L bus 1600; the OS is window 8.1 pro.

    There're 2 things i cant understand:

    1. on 1st time when i installed more rams; i looked into CPU- Z and saw that's every is fine; theyre all accepted( thats means 24GB of ram) and run at 1.35V. After that 1 day; the blue death screen appeared with "Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area"; " memory_management"......

    2. on the mainboard, where i can install my ram( i dont know wat its called) i can see that there's a little detail that writes "1.5V". According to my retail; the haswell cpu must run with 1.35V ram and i dont know why?

And about the existing one( i dont know how to take it out cause it under keyboard; i can only take the back cover out), i have use this lap 1 week before i decided install more ram; and its perfectly, no blue death screen. Everything just happen after i installed 2 more rams.

Thank you for your advices so much.

What's the model # of your RAM? We can all take a look at it.
    1. Clearly a memory compatibility issue.
    2. It's the same type of memory slot but only 1.35V is capable from the processor so you can disregard the label 1.5V.

The spec doesn't mention anything about 1.35V except 1.5V/1.65V.
I think you've purchaesd a non DDR3L but DDR3 memory modules, and this confirmed the symptom that you were getting.

Searching the first part number shows DDR3. Since the picture is blurry, can you take picture of the chip on the Kingmax RAM IC?
If we search the part number on the RAM IC then we can have more clue.

Can you also run memtest on your PC to make sure?
    Then Prime95 in Windows.

Hello guys! I was scanning the thread because I was having an issue with the trackpad whilst playing games. The trackpad would lock if I were pressing any key. This is particularly very annoying when you are trying to move around using the arrow/awsd keys and then you try to look around at the same time and the trackpad wouldn't respond!

The culprit is actually a synaptics setting called Palm Check. I explain more about it on this post:
trackpad’s palm check + gaming = no fun | Journal

Thank u so much Kevin for u kindness.

I have sent my GT60 to MSI official waranty service; they said that my mainboard is not good, and they'll replace me a new one but it ll take 3~4 weeks cause the new one must be shipped from taiwan.

Im totally disspointed in MSI. i just buy it on 22 Feb 2014.

Thank u so much for ur messages again, kevin and everyone in here.

Did you have symptom using the original memory module? You didn't have problem with the stock RAM.
Can you check for the IC P/N again so we can make sure if you have correct/incorrect memory modules?

    Hi everyone.

I finally managed to do a repaste for my GT60. I applied Cooler master Thermal Fusion 400 to both CPU and GPU. I didnt noticed any improvement at all at first usage, but I will continue to test it. My thermal pads are beginning to melt (my lappy has about 9 months now, daily usage for work, about 5 hours a week for gaming). Does anybody know which thermal pads should I use if I wanna replace them?

    Hi,

I have used my GT60 about 1 week before i installed more RAM; its OK with stock ram and theres no problem.

I sent my GT60 with all 4 RAM ( 3 new KingMax and 1 stock) to MSI warranty services for checking. After 4 days; they replied to me that all of my memory modules re OK;the point is my Mainboard.
The only solution in my country is waiting for a new mainboard from MSI taiwan( about 3 ~ 4 weeks)

Well then i think there no choices for me here.

    Thank you.

I have a GT60 2OD and some time ago I have a problem with an external hdd usb 3.0 and Win 8.1
If I connect the hdd using the usb 2.0 port works fine, but if I use any of the USB 3.0, starts connecting and disconnecting every 1 or 2 seconds. I tried a few things but nothing has worked, I thought it was something related with Enhanced Power Management, but no.
It's really anoying because I can't use almost any external hdd usb 3.0 (I've tried 2 Toshibas, 1 WD, 1 Seagate and only the Seagate works)
    some idea?

    (excuse my english :$ )

If all those different external HDD's all have the same problem with 3.0 USB, it's definitely a problem with your laptop... I use a HP external 3.0 HDD regularly without any problems, works great. I'm using the stock MSI install upgraded to 8.1, nothing special, only Window's Updates as they've been released.

It depends on what controller the hdd enclosure uses. AFAIK some controllers don't fare well with newer windows' power saving schemes. Try disabling power savings for that particular device. I had the same problem on my old GT780DX and fixed it by disabling power management.

There is a way to change MS drivers, so now I'm using Intel drivers and it works better (not perfect but better). External HDDs now work but 1 of the 3 ports still have some problem with one of the hdd. Also I think 2 of the cables that I have are defective (using usb 3.0, any combination of cable/hdd works using usb 2.0, and also I didnt have any problem with a Sony Vaio laptop)
    Very weird...

    Wear Level...

So, I have been seeing issues with my battery lately and I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing it... My wear level is at 14% and sometimes it will read 70+%. I constantly use the machine for gaming while on battery. I have noticed, that I have to run any game off of the on board video card with minimal settings and windowed. If I do not do this, the battery will go from 100% to 0% is a matter of seconds to a minute. After reboot on that I will see the 70% wear level.

I constantly pull this computer off AC and use the battery. The battery life is still 4+ hours if I run at power saver mode, but if I do anything extra, it will drop from XX% to 0% in no time.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

It's caused from the use of Hybrid Power (aka Power Boost).
If you cycle the battery, the wear level may drop a little bit but nevertheless the wear and tear inflicted upon the battery can be higher than usual.

    Hello !

I have a small problem with my GT60 and windows 8.1

When I go in "energy saver" windows, my pc ram and only the mouse moves
When I restart = black screen (so I restored the system)

If I ever touch fashion "energy saver", so "normal" or "high performance", I have no desire pc running Normally

(aside Some windows update That Gives black screen on reboot ...)

    you have a solution?

My GT60 has the bios and firmware up to date

    Thanks !

    Stock OS , no windows 8.1 ?

I do not know, I have not tested.

Before that functioned perfectly with the old mSATA SSD.

For the driver,I recommended by the msi or touslesdriver.com website (French site automatically detect drivers)

    New issue:

Intel 7620 says bluetooth is working fine (device manager). I cannot connect any bluetooth devices to it. Same device will instantly be found by my buddy with his Galaxy Tab, but my GT60 can't find it--and I'm not doing anything different with the device.

Device Manager also tells me that I have the latest drivers installed, so I'm pretty sure that's not it. What's the fix?

I know that the MSI system control manager is PERMANENTLY showing bluetooth as "off", and I assume that's because it doesn't have the OEM WiFi card. Is this the issue? Do i need a patch for this? Does BT seek mode run fine without it?

    Thanks!

Anyone? I can't be the only person in the world who has this problem with the 7620!

Most of us have the stock Killer card still in our GT60's.

For what its worth the Intel 7260 works just fine with Bluetooth in my GS60 and SCM shows Bluetooth on or off properly. Maybe your version of SCM is keeping Bluetooth turned off? Total guess but it seems related that it thinks its off.

Have you tried to connect any other devices? What happens when you swipe in from right, click settings, click change PC settings, click PC and devices, and finally click Bluetooth?

There's no "bluetooth" listing under " PC and devices".
