Hi all for now i am taking Bios modding to the back burner. Reasons being that i am trying to resolve some bugs in the last unlock without success.

If you can get a copy of the APTIO Bios Editor AMIBCP the lastest ones i.e 4.52 + then you simply load your bios into that and select user where the line says default.

Only do this to area that have info to it. Save bios and flash.

    Hello everyone,

    Laptop: GX660

    Problem:
This all started when I got some GSODs. I looked for possible updates to fix the issue. I downloaded the bios posted and proceeded to flash it. It did the BIOSCHK and continued to erase the existing bios. While erasing, it got to about 30% when the computer lost power. I am trying the BIOS Recovery. I turn it on, it checks the hard-drive and the USB. The usb blinks a couple of times and it turns off only to stay there (no beeps, nothing).

Could anyone please guide me to flash a working bios? Is my computer fixable? Please, I really appreciate your help with this.

    Hi!
Thanks for info about possibility of unlocking MSI GT780 Bios, but i can't download it because megaupload is down. Tryed to unlock bios mysef (with AMIBCP and ADUDOS flash, i also downloaded MMTool, but i don't know what to do with it), but have a problem:

    1) Can't change TDP more then 48W (originally i have 45W CPU i7 2670QM), duuno why, i can change even 250W limit in BIOS, but nothing change

Can you please help me with this or upload your modified BIOS or send it to me by e-mail ([email protected]). Thx for help!

P.S. i also can't change memory clock or profile - can choose it in BIOS, but after reboot i have them turned off again. as i understand - the problem is that i havent got XMP memory?

    P.S.S. My notebook GT780DX i7-2670qm, 12gb DDR3, 570M 3GB

After lots of manipulations with unlocked BIOS (unlocked only with AMIBCP and then saved and force flashed) i have some results:
    1) OC Mem from 1333 to 1600 stable (not XMP, Elixir can't handle it)
    2) Have better results with CPU clock drop down on max load (Linpack or Prime)..now i have limit of 56W, but only MAX for 2 min (max i can set in bios for longtime Turbo), after 2 min i have again 48W limit and clock drop down to 2500-2600, still can't understend how to fix this - need your advice...plz help!

Hi angry, great to hear you unlocked the bios with the tools i mentioned. Now as for your Ram. You defo need XMP Ram no doubt about it as for CPU.
The 48W bit i can only figure down to temps.

Turbo boast will on work when the CPU is happy with the Temps. What are your idle temps mine using IC7 Thermal paste stays at around 2.7 to 3.0GHZ and when it hits 60C it will drop to 2.4GHZ its how turbo works.

If you want to push a CPU the only way you can try is to disable Turbo and manually Overclock or use TurboStop and overclock that way its worth a shot at least!

Thx for answer...Can't answer rapidly - had many work and reinstalled system to new SSD OCZ 240Gb drive...
So...i don't think it's the temp. issue. I tried to cool notebook with outdoor air and have very good temps, but still had cpu throttlin after 2 min of full load cpu. When i try to turn off turbo - i have limit of 45 w and no chance to work at full load with full cpu clock - when i reach 45w limit i have clock around 2400-2500Mhz. Only with Turbo ON and Long time turbo power set to 56W or higher and long time turbo maintain option set to 120 i have 2 min period of full load cpu (linpack or prime) and clock speed at 2800Mhz.
About overclocking...i can overclock CPU only by Intel Extreme Tuning utility, but not much - only 104,9 FSB, if i try to get higher i get freeze and i need to restart. Overclock through the BIOS is not successfull also - i can't change FSB at all with the ICC Overclock option in Advanced BIOS menu (if i change it more then 0.5Mhz i have error message and all settings are reset to defaults), maybe i need to change some other options?
What is the TurboStop utility? Can't find it...i'm using ThrootleStop 4.10 and i can change multiplyer with it, when turbo is off, but still i have limit of 45W (i can ovverride this limit only with Turbo mode on), so immediately (even without 2 min period of high power consumptiom - up to 52W) i have cpu clock drop down to 2400-2500 when turbo is OFF.

I'm very sorry to distrub you again, but maybe you can check my unlocked BIOS for erreors (i can send it to you by email), maybe i've done smth wrong, because i tried everything, but still has multiplayer throttling problem(( When i use linpack with AVX support i have power consumtion over 52W and can get full cpu speed only for 40 seconds, then multiplayer drops down to 25 and after 2 min it drops to 23-24 (power limited up to 48W), if i turn off C1E, EIST and Turbo and choose multiplayer manually i have it drop to 22 in a moment when i reach 45W limit(((

Can any one reseed the gx740 bios again? Since megaupload was closed. I have Akoya X7811, and was wondering if the BIOS will fit it (i've found one post saying it does work). What exactly does the BIOS except unlocking XMP? Will it unlock rest options like throttle control or multiplayer setting on unlocked CPUs, (since i couldn't change anything in Throttle stop program).

    The latest update:
Max 100% stable overclock i get with my cpu and unlocked with AMIBCP BIOS 2790@2980Mhz with all 4 cores load and max turbo with 1 core is 3100@3300Mhz and also i update turbo longtime maintain from 28s to 120s.

Still have trottlind on LinPack with AVX instructions, but it seems to be not BIOS ot CPU problem, as i see now it,s motherboatd TDP limit and even with unlocked bios i can't change it, maybe it's hardware limit of CPU power chain on MB. Still will be happy with advices and any info.

Video OC: GTX570M with bios Vmod [email protected] 575@800 and bad mem OC - 750@792 (such poor OC i thin is because of amount of mem - 3gb, insted of standart 1.5Gb and tightened vmem timings in bios, which i can't change with my vbios editor).

    wkexe
Hello! You can unlock bios with AMIBCP 4.53 utility. If interested - i can send you my unlocked bios and this tool that you can check how i unlocked and do the same to your bios.

Yeah I would be interested could you upload it? Also if someone with GX740 and this modded bios from first page could upload it again, because Medion bios is from 2010...so I would like to update it by loading the GX740 modded bios. I have a plan to buy a MSI case and turn this medion into MSI :), since this case is a bit trashed. Anyone knows which cases will fit? GT725, GT740 and GX740 for sure, but maybe there are also some?

I've found the unlocked BIOS and reuploaded
    1727 GX740 Unlocked BIOS

I have the Akoya X7811 too and I'm on this latest BIOS.
I wouldn't recommend the flash if you don't have any troubles. You mentioned an owner in this thread, which also done it (first?).
He bricked his X7811 while he tried to reflash with a backup of the Medion BIOS? I don't know exactly.
After I switched I had to reactivate Windows and mostly all device were reinstalled. I couldn't see any changes to the old BIOS. The options are there, but changes didn't take any effect.
If you are from Germany, you can also share and comment your experiences here.
I'd taken this BIOS into context here.

Are there any MSI-1761 compatible bios that supports changing TDP limit or turbo longtime?

I have an 2760qm ES that won't go to 3.5ghz on 1 core. The highest I ever got was to 3.3ghz with throttlestop. Also, I think it drops turbo speeds way faster than what I would like it to behave. I'm not sure whether its the bios or the cpu itself.

Right kakashisensei have a look at temps as when a CPU goes into turbo mode it will only go so far when temps are high.

I have the MS-16F2 with my unlocked bios and my turbo will stick a 2.9GHZ till cpu temps drop to 45 and then it will hit 3.1GHZ.

Keep eye on temps when its going into tubo mode and then post on here.

Im sorry I dont really understand what you mean...

Tell me what is your CPU model, in full detail please

In my opinion you dont need throttlestop unless you own extreme edition cpu, otherwise its a waste of time and power with unnoticeable results

Hi I really messed up by overclocking the ram if anyone could give me the exact key combinations to get to resetting the bios that would be great. The cpu starts up fine but the LCD won't even display because all of the ram is overclocked to 1866mhz I thought I had a different type of ram and apparently it's a much lower speed. So if anyone could be so kind as to record their steps in the bios that I would take with a blank lcd that would be great. I can't get to the fans to reset the cable I either don't have the correct screwdriver or the screws are stuck. If you could recommend the proper screwdriver that would be great too. I tried a precision screw driver and tore up my hand and I tried a Phillips it got 3 of the screws out but is too thick to get the keyboard screws out. Also the keyboard screws are kind of stuck if anyone could provide me with a little bit of help it would be majorly appreciated. If anyone is able to and provides the steps I just need default settings I didn't set any user default settings. MSI 683-DXR

You just need to disconnect the bios battery (next to the fan connector to reset the ram.

At the moment your system wont be booting at all so there is no such thing as blind setting it.

See that red and black cable next to my blue memory? That's the bios battery connector. It just pulls out and pushes in.

Leave it out (obviously with the main battery out as well) for about 60 seconds and then your bios will be reset.

Any chance I could get some more support? I just enabled an XMP profile but if I put the Ram on anything except auto in bios I have to reset my cmos. I checked my dram frequency in CPU-Z and it's 665.3mhz the Ram is advertised to run at 1333mhz and I don't think it's being throttled by the motherboard with what little I know about it. I want to upgrade my ram to 1866 or 1600mhz at a later point in time but for now I'm just interested in my clock speeds reaching 1333mhz. If anyone could help that would be great I've reset twice already and am looking for answers online at the moment. Found out it's double data rate ram. Is there any chance you can overclock that I'm guessing not?

1333 MHZ is 665.3 DDR II or DDR III speed is divided by 2 mate. I am also running 1333 but CPU-z shows 665.3 this is normal. what ever CPU-Z says times by 2 and thats the MHZ your getting!

Yeah I noticed that but can you actually overclock that even a small amount? Sorry I was in a rush yeah I found that out my message was a little bit ambiguous. I found out the ram does run at half the speed but in two channels or something of the sort equaling out to 1333mhz if not a more efficient. I was wondering with XMP can you overclock that it seems with Thaiphoon burner you might possibly be able to. It's DDR3-1333H so it may be overclock-able through that. I don't want to buy the software if I can do it manually though.

Hello, there. I just read about the unlocked BIOS for the MS-1727 (Akoyax7811).
Could someone please reload it again because all links are broken.

    Thanks

Hi there, I just change my GTS 250 with GTX 260 and MSI GT740/1727 won't work on baterry. The laptop starts, system is loading- I ca hear Windows start sound, but nothing on display. Is there any way to mod BIOS , because on power adapter everything is fine. Thank you.

    GX660 GX660R GT660 MSi unlocked BIOS

Hi once again, so I have spent some time today and made my go,

here is absolutely fully unlocked including all hidden features , unlocked BIOS for GX660 / GX660R users.
There are absolutely all features enabled, so be very very cautious what you do inside BIOS, enabled all hidden sub-features and options, there are so many of those shown now, you may want to enable your turbo fan while browsing via your new unlocked BIOS menu as it will take you some time , and while in BIOS settings your CPU is always is set to MAX TDC/TDP and max clocks, so it will heat up alot and may cause you laptop to power down if not cooled off properly(note: this ain't no bug or new feature its the way CPU behaves while in BIOS for a long time) Be warned.
I have personally tested this BIOS and Im using it it works perfect.
I have taken standard latest GX660R bios and I have not touched absolutely any of the settings but I have only enabled/unlocked all to the very last features of the BIOS menu&features content.
Some fields may not contain any useful settings or may not make sense but just use options you feel needed, like enable certain features in SATA options to get your new yet unsupported SSD to work, XMP profiles now are enabled to control regardless of memory supports it or not, so please be very careful.
Of course in worst scenario if you mess up your BIOS so much that you cant power on your PC, you just let it cool off for approx 10mins, and take out back panel of your laptop, and then remove unplug your laptop from power cable, remove laptop battery, remove BIOS battery and press power button on laptop several times, so BIOS/CMOS clears the settings, then wait few minutes and reinsert BIOS battery, laptop battery, and reconnect power cable, BIOS will initialize setup defaults and you're good to go again.

If you feel this BIOS upgrade is worthy say thanks/+rep me

    Thanks

Motherboard version as I know is the same, same bios chip, same controller, I believe it has to work the same for GT660, do it with caution and at your own risk, and GOOD LUCK

Thanks. however, this BIOS only unlocked the XMP option and nothing else. Can I have the BIOS that will unlock all option?

    Many thanks

    PS: I have 1761 (GT780DX)

Also, let's just say I want to use a power adapter that is higher than the MSI's 180W, where can I get one? Thanks.
