Sent my laptop back a month ago, haven't heard anything.
Just shot them an email to see what is going on with it.
They try to say they never received it, we'll have a problem, as I had delivery confirmation.

I'm in the U.S and nothing but air.
At least you guys got smoke signals. I'm kinda glad their BBB page got some scorched earth treatment, although I've learned from experience, the BBB is a pay-to-rate organization and pretty much worthless for gauging a company's customer service value. How MSI is sitting on a "A+" is mind-boggling. In fact if anyone other than BBB staff was to read all the way through most of the complaints, complainants did not get their issues resolved!
I've been waiting no lie over 2 months without even a courtesy auto reply. My uncle is a software engineer for IBM, and during a conversation about laptops (he's an Apple fanboy so I had nothing to brag about) I mentioned my MSI issue. His small team generates several hundred emails every day, which they are required to respond to in some fashion within days. He said MSI staff can't be hardly as busy and are either lazy/incompetent or purposely and selectively ignoring emails.
Regardless of my inquiry, someone should have replied. They didn't hesitate a second to spam emails when I registered my product.hmscott, briedfox, Leinad1989 and 1 other person like this. -
US as well. I think I have you beat, I sent my form in prior to the October 31st deadline initially posted, received my initial email from Michael Zhu MSI on 10/14, then crickets, nothing from MSI, I have sent several emails, posted to their support page, submitted support tickets for ANY answer or replies and have received ZERO replies or information. Its past ridiculous and bordering on some of the worst customer service I have ever seen.
Edit: I reviewed the two or three BBB bad reviews, are there more that I don't see? I would expect to see hundreds of complaints on the GPU issue an trade-in program. Does anyone have links?Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2017 -
Did you look for "resolved" ones, I think you can still find them but you may have to look for them, I think that's why so many companies want to resolve complaints quickly.hmscott likes this.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the following site:
https://www.bbb.org/losangelessilic...nd-heights-ca-13155122/reviews-and-complaints
I didn't see many complaints and didn't see a separate resolved stage, it appears the complaints are all closed or 'resolved' in some fashion but most were for other issues rather than the trade-in issues that I could see.hmscott likes this. -
It's been awhile since I searched over there. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this issue there.

Everything is back on track here, just waiting for sales, I think they are still going to charge me extra, not sure how much.
So I just hope today is the day, I could do with my computer for this week.hmscott and Leinad1989 like this. -

Continue to send them emails as well as calling their marketing dept. -
I just left a message with marketing Dept explaining I have had no response and particulars about my trade inquiry and form submitted back. Will see if anything comes of itReload59, hmscott and woolfman72 like this.

I finally got a reply from MSI Tech and they asked me to email or call MSI:
"please contact them by email: [email protected] or call 626-913-0828"
I guess I will call them tomorrow since I have been emailing since 10/2016.Kevin@GenTechPC and hmscott like this. -
Im really $#@£€d off! One of the reasons I paid a ludicrous amount of money for my gt72s dominator pro g was the promise of upgradable graphics! Not only have MSI let us down on that promise they have made it impossible for anyone out of the US to take advantage of the trade up deal! If I had the option I would have traded! The other thing is I've had to do a fair bit of searching before finding out this was even possible! Class action for false advertising and not delivering on a featured promotional incentive to buy the product! Add me to the list of plaintiffs!RandomID, briedfox and nightingale like this.

I literally sent an email 15 minutes ago as well and MSI responded almost immediate, wtf, however that was probably my 3rd email trying to find out what the heck was happening. The email said they are overloaded basically but expect to address a huge majority of the trade in inquiries/interested submissions in the mth of February , that tells me near another moth possibly lesshmscott likes this.

Was your unit purchased from the US? If yes, did you ask a friend or relative to purchase it for you? If all of the aforementioned conditions are true then you can also do the same to have them do the trade-in for you.
The GPU upgrade program was advertised in the US initially but not other regions, and then later MSI added CAN. Few users from other regions reported that they were able to receive an offer from their local MSI office.hmscott likes this. -
You're not alone, my friend. I'm also pissed at how MSI HQ handled this situation.
The GPU upgrade-ablility in GT series was advertised at MSI Global and regional product pages (therefore worldwide).
But upgrade kits were made available only in select countries (and the full list of these countries never existed).
So many MSI offices say that the trade-in is not possible because the upgrade-ability wasn't advertised there (simply because they didn't receive upgrade kits).
That's shady advertising and surely can be classified as false advertising. I'm sure MSI got a nice boost in sales because of this.
And now they use this loophole of never released list of eligible countries to not provide trade-in offers worldwide. -
Has anyone got any kind of response from the UK ?
I just have an email which says its in Sales hands now, I sent my laptop of over 2 weeks ago and still nothing.
The turn around is pretty slow, I just hope I can have my computer for this weekend. -
I'm in the exact same boat, sent mine in for repair last month (broken hinge) told them to assess and give me a price for the upgrade. Been told it's in sales hands now too.
-
MISJAH, are you upgraded to a new laptop now?

@spurst MiSJAH and hmscott are no longer able to post in this thread due to constant bickering -- despite repeated warnings -- that sapped the resources of the MSI moderator team and cluttered the thread.
edit: For the record, those warnings have been public as well as in private messages:

Oh ok. Thanks for the update. It is too funny that they can read and like the posts though! Sort of like ghosts floating around in here.
I was wondering why it became so quiet and civil in here. lol.RandomID, briedfox, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -
I got another reply, same as posted above earlier but this is the exact context:
"
Our deepest apologies for taking such a long time to respond to your inquiries. We are currently following through with the trade in process with everyone that has requested to do a trade-in upgrade. Due to the overwhelming amount of requests, it's taking us longer than expected to get to everyone. We have your information and request on file and will definitely get to you. We’re looking to complete the majority of the trade-in requests in the month of February. Thank you for your patience thus far and we look forward to contacting you about your trade in.
Thank you for choosing MSI!" -
Man down! Man down!
Damn... Despite their bickering both of them were active and helpful in this thread... And both have valid points.
Well, at least they can still read... and like posts, haha.Reload59, hmscott, wrlutey and 1 other person like this. -
I have spoke to MiSJAH, he hasn't had his laptop as yet, still trying to negotiate with msi.
Best thing to do is send them a message, sure they would be happy to help.
As for me and others I have spoke to, they have our laptops, they have already looked at them and passed em.
Its still in the hands of sales, of which we have had no emails or reply's of any kind.
Its really annoying now, even with the payments I think it will take 3/4 days to clear as its done using IBAN or SWIFT. -
Mine is on its way, I will also let you guys know how long it takes to get an answer. I also got an email about the time it takes to answer due to overwhelming amount of requests. Since I didn't choose cross exchange, I am in it for the long haul, so at this rate I expect the new machine to arrive in like a month.
The good part is that they are answering emails even if it takes time. If you have very specific doubts, it won't hurt to ask even if they take time to answer.SAiLO, Kevin@GenTechPC, hmscott and 1 other person like this. -
Seems like the Sales Dept will get back to you only when they manage to sell your laptops...
-
Well as of this morning my credit has posted. So the trade in is complete for me.
-
So lucky, are you an EU or USA trader ?
I`m just wondering how long it took for the money to clear.
Did the money transfer cost anything ?
I do wonder if you can pay extra for it to clear quicker, no doubt this would be £30 something. -
US . We were able to use credit cards and i just did the cross shipping option. The day mine came in is the day i sent the other back. Once they got their stuff together and i gave them payment info it was about a 2 week process from payment to credit.MiSJAH likes this.

Another successful report, nice!
Couple of questions:
1. Could you, please, share your Unigine Heaven benchmark score?
2. Where did you get your GTX 1070 and what was the price?tiliarou likes this. -
I don`t have right now gt72 and gtx 1070 it was yesterday I made tests only for compatibility. Some guys wanted to upgrade so I ordered gtx 1070 + heatsinks. They visited me and I installed all "toys". Just started gt72 ms-1781 and TADAM
. It works. Of course nvdispi.ini and nvami.ini need to be modified so in win 10 you need to disable WHQL driver certificate.
-
So it's possible to upgrade gt80 with 1070? Only single or sli?
-
This is a big bonus if this trade in deal drags out forwever I may just consider upgrading my 980M to a 1060 but more than likely a 1070, i just need some step by step guidance on particular card to buy and what bios files need modification and proper heatsink that requires moddingtiliarou likes this.
-
You don`t have to modify bios . All you need is to buy msi gtx 1070 and correct heatsinks like in my topick:
[mod edit: linking to marketplace threads is prohibited]
After assembly of heatsink and vga card you need to modify NVidia drivers files nvdisp.ini and one more file which I don't remember the name ;/ . Also on win 10 you need to disable whql certificate lock using shift when restarting windows.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 4, 2017MiSJAH likes this. -
Thanks I will be asking some questions via pm
-
We need a new/updated topic for users performing upgrades, like the 970m/980m to the older GT series. How is power handled by GT72 with the GTX1070? I assume Hybrid power is still needed to keep everything at max power. Is the GPU working at full power or power limited?
-
Today better be the day, as I'll soon be without a laptop for 4 weeks. Given transport time and money clearing. Hopefully Neil will sort it out.
-
Also still waiting, did you get an email from Neil or did you email him to chase it up?MiSJAH likes this.
-
I first sent an email to, Niraj, she told me I would find out on the 26th of Jan, but nothing happened.
I emailed her again and she didn't have any ideas when I would find out when I get my laptop.
So I emailed Neil and he quickly replied and told me he would get Niraj to contact the correct department for me. So I`m just waiting now, I should hear something today, if not around 3pm Ill email Neil again.
Its getting on now and they have had my computer for around 3 weeks, so its going to be another week before I get my new one, providing I pay for it today. Unless they can speed it up some how with airmail instead of land. -
Well just found out Niraj is a dude, Doh, sorry dude, I for some reason thought it was a girls name.
silly me. -
I haven't posted here yet, as I wanted to get my offers first and then see what you guys think about them.
I have a GT72 2QE, top spec: 32gb RAM, 512gb 4x SSD RAID0, GTX 980m
I paid £2300 for it when I got it.
My valuation is £1609 which means that if I trade it in and add another £800 on top, I can get a GT73 with 32gb RAM, 512 SSD and GTX 1070M
I'm not considering the 1080 because they want 400 more for it...
Do you think this offer is reasonable?
My GT72 + £800 for GT73 with 1070 which retails at £2400 (Kabylake) -
Nothing and nothing today so far, I did speak to another member and his mate got the letter last night.
Can only hope something happens today.
I have the money, but I could really do with it going to MSI asap, while I still have it.
As I dont want surprise bills or anything to swallow it up.MiSJAH likes this.
