I suggested mkinasz call since I had success reaching coordinator via phone. My email correspondence had his number within signature, however I never sent counter quotes in my emails. I just explained what I had and where and I wanted to be with an equivalent machine and the offer was made that was more than fair from MSI

We work with MSI directly to take care of our customers, and according to some customer feedbacks here they do respond. What sort of contact info do you currently have?

I spoke with my coordinator last Friday, got the CC auth done, and he was able to charge my card same day.
Today, the new laptop arrived to my surprise!!!

The only thing that drove me crazy for a few minutes was MSI True Color's "Desktop Partition" feature.
At this point, it's working perfectly. Pretty happy with the upgrade so far.
Time to copy all of my stuff to the new beast!!!

Excellent did you do an advance ship? Mine arrived to MSI Monday, I am expecting them to hit my cc tomorrow hopefully and ship the new one out by Thurs hopefully. It is painfull using our Gateway E1-2500APU Kodi multi media box in meantime, wife says stay away from her system, lol.

Is there the bonus 3 mths if you register right way currently? Extending it to 27 mths?

Yup I ended up doing the cross-ship option so they did charge the full price on my card. I need to contact the coordinator because at this point I have no info on what I need to do to return the old laptop. There is nothing in our email exchanges so far with that info. When I registered, there was an option to take a survey to get the extra 3 months. The website shows "Standard Warranty + 3months" so looks good.

One question I did have in case anybody has dealt with this... when I bought the GT80, the first thing I did was upgrade the ram to 2133MHz. I'm pretty sure I don't have the original ram. Do you think I can send in as-is and not get hassled about it?

Nice , you would hope they don't hassle you about the memory if you basically upgraded it. You could just send in as is or drop a littl e note inside box advising of the upgrade?

The original upgrade email, Ming Rong, and Michael Zhu. I heard back from them initially, but when I counter offered that was the end of the conversation - no denial, followup, etc. It has been months, so I've just given up and figured I would wait out the lawsuit results, or the next gen upgrade.

I'll continue to just wait it out. Dual power bricks are not an option for me and I'm a little apprehensive to give up my mechanical keyboard for a chick-let keyboard. I was hoping they would have the GT83 with a single GTX 1080, but they never built that option.

When did you apply for NB upgrade? Did you apply for it in time?
If you don't mind, send your NB info to [email protected] and we will try to help you with their upgrade program.

Yes, I applied in time. I have exchanged probably a dozen emails back and forth with MSI early in this thread. When I countered the offer they simply stopped replying.

At this point, I am just going to wait out the next generation unless they dropped prices for the current offers seeing as it has been nearly 6 months.

Given how far along the timeline is now, you might as well wait until the next gpu version, so you arent paying top dollar for a card that is already 6+ months into its life cycle.

I'm in the no response from MSI category. I sent in my form for upgrade in October, 2016 and again in December, 2016. I got the standard response each time with the upgrade chart and cost and a separate email to wait as demand was heavy. I responded answering the four or five questions. I've followed up with several emails spread out every third week or so but no response to any. I purchased my upgraded system from CUK through Amazon.

Same boat here... I'm still waiting on an offer after signing up and getting accepted in early December. I've sent about a dozen replies to the original information request after getting accepted and they're flat-out ignoring me. I even sent a couple of emails from another of my email accounts cross-referencing information to make sure that they hadn't flagged me as completed or spam... This is very likely the last MSI product I will ever own. I don't care if I get a "we're working on it" response followed by canned messages. What I CAN'T STAND is being ignored.

I'll start trying again once the 11 series cards start rolling out, I guess... But I'm not holding my breath any more.

Did the class action lawsuit ever actually get rolling? Cuz right about now I'm ready to jump aboard the "screw MSI, pay me" train.

Some people have apparently received their upgrade. I can't even get them to respond to me after being accepted and asked to answer the 4 questions from the acceptance email. Seems there's more people having this same experience. I don't know who to believe at this point, but I'm getting more and more pissed after being fully ignored for 5 months.

Wow, that sucks. I consider myself to be really patient, but I think we are easily tied on that one. Five months is a long time to be strung out and lied to. I don't blame you for not being happy about that. I know I certainly would not be. Been there/done that with broken promises, excuses and run-around from Alienware. There is no opportunity to earn forgiveness or regain trust after being the recipient of behavior like this. You have my condolences, bro.

Several people already got their replacement. The problem is that once they got their replacement, there is little reason to return to the topic I guess. I also got mine. It certainly is an excersise in patience, and the timing was probably the worst (holidays when it all "started" properly) so everything kinda got pushed back. Some users had a surprisingly fast experience, mine was about 3 months or more in total.

Yeah, I received my upgrade as well. I always advice to consistently keep sending emails. While my whole trade in was finished at the end of january, early february, I have at least 40+ emails. Since the upgrade team is a different group of people, I originally was responded by different staff. As with many others, I didn't manage much last year, and it was not until january where I got more consistent answers.

I did the cross ship and they have had my old laptop for 2 weeks now almost 3. For those of you that have done this, how long did it take for them to refund your credit card? I have not heard anything from them. I know they inspect it but how long does that take? I just want this process over with. I have had issues with MSI, every step of the way, since this trade-in process started.

Have you tried following up with them about the status of the refund? Yes, they generally would need to inspect the computer when it arrives, hopefully it should be getting done soon though otherwise.

I'll be glad to hear I have a coordinator, hopefully someday soon. I followed up to a different MSI email address last week hoping perhaps they would contact me or point me in the correct direction. Thanks for the reminder about Pacific time, I sometimes forget detail like that.

    Congrats on the new GT73VR!

I registered for the upgrade program in October, but I haven't been following it since. I think I am ready to consider upgrading now.

Because I don't want to read 400+ pages of text...
What is the conclusion? Has MSI shafted a lot of users with their exchanges? Will they make you a personalized offer if you haggle with them?

I have some minor damages on my laptop. Will they screw me over?

I have a GT80 980m sli and I might be looking to upgrade up or down, rather than going directly across to the model they are offering. If that makes sense.

Thank you to anyone who replies!

Yeah, so once you sent it in they can inspect the system to provide a credit amount, then you get a list of choices to upgrade to and pay the difference.
It will still be a good deal because you get new system with powerful GPU, and refreshed warranty.

    Thanks for the responses.

Do I also get a CPU upgrade? That is what I am primarily concerned with. I don't really play games on this so I don't care much for the GPUs. I just need a really fast computer for work.

    I am currently on a 4980 broadwell.

Depends on which CPU they offer you and how much you want to pay to update to. Send emails to them. I sent over 40 emails and successfully traded in my GT80 for a GT73. Other users have successfully traded in their machine.

If you feel the value of your machine is worth the exchange, go for it. If you feel the offer is not good enough, be sure to let them know too.

You right now have a high end haswell CPU, however it is also a locked CPU that runs only at around 3.2-3.4ghz of sustained speed due to power limits. If you trully want a step up, you will need a 7820HK (or if for some reason they still offer the older variants, a 6820HK). These CPUs can be overclocked and maintain their speeds.

So my recommendation is keep in touch with them, at least once a week, and evaluate the offerings they give you. I also recommend the GT73 model, as it is a fantastic machine (you can read my review if you want :) ) and even a GTX1070, on stock, is near 980m SLI stock levels of performance.

Hey, thanks for the detailed responses man. I appreciate it.

You are making it sound as if they will give you a personalized offer if you can force it out of them. Is that true? Please clarify that. Thanks again

They might. The price they offer you is first based on your model, and then your region. There are/might be other factors involved, but I also know some users that have similar models, ended up getting different offers. So I do believe you get a somewhat personalized offer, while at first you will get a general offer based on your model etc.

Its not like all models cost XXXX money, regardless of your machine.

You are probably better off selling it on ebay and buying a laptop from someone else. They have absolutely zero problem of ignoring months of emails, and their last update was in February when they said they hoped to have the cases completed at the end of the month. I have been waiting since December and they couldn't care less. Avoid the hassle and go with someone else.

I think the main point of the delay is that the unit has to be functional to do the trade in, and by now most people who bought it are at the end of their warranty period so the longer they take the fewer trade ins they will have. That way they can shrug it off and not offer anything unless you pay them to fix it and then pay them again to trade it in. Sad, MSI used to be a reputable company, but they have lost a lot of customers over this.

I am going to do the cross shipping option, if anything. I hope they are still offering that.

BTW, what about the US class action ? MSI offering a trade in program doesn't change the fact that they displayed false information and that they didn't respect their obligations.
Someone here set up an email to join the lawsuit, but is there any news about it ?

I would like that information as well, as far as if you have to still have possession of the laptop to join the lawsuit, since I am about ready to throw in the towel waiting for MSI to honor their promises. My warranty ends next month, so I don't want to wait 5 more months for them to bother to answer my emails, and then for it to die in the meantime.
