Also just noticed that the site got revamped. Looks very nice. (While I never bought from them on account of GenTech being awesome, Xotic always did have a nicer looking site).
I know it's still far off, but any idea if the 780 will be able to accomodate, say, a 6970?

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
-
WOW, THANKS! Now i even more excited for july to come!
-
I am not sure if you noticed. The description on the GT780R says 460M, then when you costumize it, it changes over to the 560M. Just thought you should know, as i don't want new costumers to get confused. :/
-
Don't know about AMD 6970 since I don't see it on the roadmap but it'll be great if they will have the AMD GPU as an option.
We list GTX 460M because of the nVidia NDA but now change back to GTX 560M.
For the barebone, the model number still the same MS-16F2 but part number is different:
-
ETA is up to nVidia's official launch date, nobody can ship GTX 560M now and the GTX560M launch date should be end of May, therefore, the GT780R and GT683R release date is around early June.
-
will they be priced the same as the present barebone ubits @ 799. USD
-
Just to clear things up, is the barebone coming in a 17in?
-
They haven't give us the price yet but I think price should be the same.
Yes barebone version will be available for both 15.6" and 17.3". -
I just want to say thank you for your patience. I am sure i am annoying with all the questions.
-
and thanks for the info
Will definitely be picking on of these barebone units up when they come out -
You are welcome with any questions.
The MSI branded models should be release before barebones. If you have spare parts laying around the barebone will be good choice for you. -
Forgot to mention, I went to MSI for meeting today and it's confirmed the finally production of GT780R will have matte-type screen (Anti-Glare). GT683R will still have glossy screen and I am not sure if barebone of 17.3" will have the same matte type screen because I forgot to ask.
-
I am really excited about this. You should stop getting us all excited! hehe
-
yea!!
I'm really glad I waited for this release... Matte-screen, 16GB Ram default
... wow! thanks Ken!
-
@gentech
-Does GX780 have GTX555 or GT555 video card? can you please confirm this. I am interested on getting GX780 over GT780R if the VC are GTX555.
Thanks. -
Gt780 -> GTX 560m GDDR5
Gx780 -> GT 555m GDDR5 -
The suspense is killing me! I don't think i can wait for the barebone. I might just go splurge and by this bad boy.
-
yeah I have been thinking the same thing
getting tied of lugging this M17 R1 around the world.
The 683R seems like the perfect machine -
I can't go lower than a 17in. I love having a great screen to watch anime and play MMO's!
-
Did the price just go up $50?
-
Haha yup...
... I guess bcos of the bump to 16GB RAM and anti-glare screen...
-
Yeah, oh well. Still going to buy the damn thing.
-
me too...
-
Yes MSI increase the price for GT780R since they change specs to 16GB of RAM, we have to follow their MAP (Minimum Advertise Price).

Naked GT780R:
YouTube - Nueva MSI GT780R Intel Core #98‏ -
That video is a crappy reupload of the gentechpc video YouTube - MSI GT780R Sample unit‏ you can even look in the video it says gentechpc XD
-
Is that suppose to have the anti-glare screen?
-
Anti-Glare screen for GT780R and GX780 only, GT683 still have glossy screen.
-
OK, so was that an anti-glare screen in that video??? Did the reflections seem rather strong for a matte screen or no?
-
It was a half-functional sample unit not final production unit.
-
OK, sorry for the confusion, I am probably just not asking the right question. I can appreciate that it was a half-functional sample unit. I have never seen a matte anti-glare screen.
Does the notebook in the video have the matte anti-glare screen?
Trying to find out if it significanly reduces reflections or not. If the notebook in the video had a matte anti-glare screen then we will probably drop it as a highly desired feature and consider other issues. Perhaps there are varying degrees of anti-glare depending on the mfg.
Thanks

Someone suggested that I head to the brick and morter store to see the ASUS matte anti-glare screen. -
The sample unit in the video has glossy screen.
Here is one of our video compare anti-glare screen and glossy screen:

Thank you Ken Lee (GenTechPC)! This is exactly the information that we were looking for
-
Hey GenTech,
Any eta on MSI GT683R? -
^^ They are supposed to be released for sale on June 1st. I guess we will find on Wednesday if that is correct or not.
-
I ordered mine on 5-27 I believe it was released on 5-26. You can find it on sites like amazon, newegg. I post a review as soon as I get it which should be in a few days.
-
hopefully the barebone 683 model shows up soon as well.

The Barebone version is supposed to be late June-early July -
No problem.
It's in stock but can't ship it yet till nVidia announce GTX560M on Computex Taiwan. We will start to ship GT683R on next Tuesday May 31st. -
booo damn you nvidia for the nda
but its 100% confirmed that gtx 560m has 192 cores 192 bits gddr5 right? -
-
Does anyone know if this laptop has optimus enabled, is there a way to switch to the integrated battery if you want to save power?
-
I think ppl who are holding out on gtx 460m to get gtx 560m, it will not matter much because i think the games which u cant play on 1080p max out in gtx 460m i think u cant play them in gtx 560m as well like
crysis, crysis warhead, metro 2033, avp, dirt 3 etc -

Excellent work as always ken, your the best.
Will be interesting to see how this matches up with a 5870 -
Good stuff Gentech.
I've already bought two laptops in a span of 1 month and hoping to get another soon.
I'll be sure to do business with you when I order my 2nd MSI laptop.
-
Nice job!
I would like to see videos with GT780R
-
Thanks Ken for the videos, they answered some of my questions.
-
Thanks for watching, BTW, haven't see you in the forum for 2 years.
