no it doesn't support switchable graphics, no gaming notebooks do thus far
keyboard is subjective
EDIT: well it's barebones, you can always not buy a hard drive and put one in yourself
EDIT 2: also RK computers has cheaper hard drives so you can just buy there

No switchable graphics.
-
So, for the branded GX740, is a mouse included or not?
I"m a bit confused.
I know a bag is. I actually do need a decent gaming/everyday mouse, so yeah. Getting it for free would be great. -
Its possible it is, and its possible it isn't, depends on reseller/seller
-
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
According to GentechPC neither the bag or mouse is included. So not quite sure.
-
-
-
just takin' a look isn't bad is it ?

Naa, i do know that some seller sold the 725 and 625 with mouse and bag though, thats for certain -

What an exciting day here on the furums, kinda funny how it seems that the barebones are arriving faster than teh actualy GX740s
-
I'm extremely happy about that, maybe now we can get a review of one of the BB's out, if i had the money and they were available in UK, i'd insta jump this, i'd really like a barebone right now
hehe.
-
Got mine from microanvika. I got a rat and a backpack .. flog the rat to my gf and the backpack is under the bed , still in it's protective plastic
Will come in handy next month though. I need a sleeve and some copper shim , gonna mod it some more
When Medion hit the UK , things gonna changeShould be even cheaper than the barebones
-
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
Now I'm just hoping the barebones of the 15" comes soon. Then everything's out there and decisions can be made
-
Medion truly are great man, i mean they've not released anything major in a while now, if they play there cards, they hold the support that they once did when i was using there products 24/7 then they can really get back up to where they need to be,
Not to mention the medion looks bad aas it gets.
-
It will sell like hotcakes if pricing is similar or close to the Advent. Bad news is .. you will probably go through DSG.
-
No lol haha,
Medion are independant,
The pricing WILL be 999, i'm certain of that, and the reliability will be by far better then any DSG junk. -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
So where/when do you think we see the first review?
-
Damnit ! i was expecting lower
-
-
-
p;s; take two -
People always stay clear of those brands .. hopefully they will kept on doing the same thing , might help lowering the price
No prob man , i will dhl-it to you for £800 -
yeah but nice reviews although
id rather buy a new one lol ;d -

Does anyone know the warranty policy for MSI barebones? Or have the link to it?
-
How is SRS "premium sound" (integrated sound on GX740)? I'm thinking of buying an X-Fi expresscard/usb soundcard, but then again those aren't very good, and I know onboard sound won't be that great, so I'm wondering if it's worth it at all.
I basically need virtual surround sound for FPS-s to pick up multidirectional footsteps, and was hoping CMSS3D tech in Creative X-Fi cards would do the trick..but apparently their notebook versions of the cards are poop. Or at least close to it. I'd be using a pair of decently good headphones with them (recommended via Head-Fi), but I"m worried the source would be too crappy to take advantage of them.
"Azalia interface, ALC888S
Theater Class 4.1 High-Stereo Speakers + Subwoofer"
From RK Computers
I think that's whats supposed to be on the GX740.
Oh and bad news - on the product webpage for the GX740 also on RK it says that ETA is probably early May now. The GX640 is basically shipping now already though so...hm. Hopefully we get our GX740 soon. -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
RK always said early may (including the GX640). So it could be coming sooner and they're just leaving it to say early May for now.
-
So uh, what about the prebuilt one, the GX640-098US, is that going to be in stock soon? Cause I for sure would like one.
-
should be in stock this weekend.
-
That's nice~~~~ maybe I can even get hold of one before April ends. -

Has the notebookjournal.de review of the Medion Akoya x7811 has been posted yet ? I searched back a few pages but couldn't see it....

13,000 3DMark 06...amazing for 999 euros. -
It'l be more then that with everything up to date and latest (10.3), thats an awesome machine there
but 3dmark06 means nothing,
Check out that vantage score!.
Hmm bad news guys, temps are not what i expect, and chasis revamp is minimal :/
Medion could have possibly dropped the ball on thermal paste :/
My Advent survived a night of the OCCT power test where this is only just stressing components -
I want that laptop!
-
Classy ! Better than the red and black , brushed Alu looks great.
-
Lol. 108°C?
-
wow. that HOT (temperature) looks like i'm sticking to the 640
-
You planned on stress testing it the whole day ? Normal usage temps will never go that far.
-
i have other reasons. =) temperature is a mild concern.
-
Yeah dead, did a full 12 hour session haha, never passed 90C for GPU and 80C on CPU and NB, ofc that was after a nice bit of alteration to voltages
otherwise the NB just burns up haha,
Ofc you don't stress a machine like that (Well i series you can) but you'l never find a GPU getting that crit,
Makes no sense, did they remove heatpipes off the GPU, i can't remember the last time i looked at it haha.
Why haven't they broadened it !
Damit why does the GPU copper surface look like they've just slapped some copper shims together without anything to dissipate the heat,
Mind you its around the same as the asus g73 gpu temps when being stressed tested but the asus CPU cooling is pretty superior. -
NotEnoughMinerals Notebook Deity
Somewhat underwhelming, gonna have to keep watching over the next month of so. Still looks good though!
-
-
Haha awesome temps, i love your bullet gt725
its ub3r xD.
Why have they left it the same though, it puzzles me, no more NB, more space to move junk around, lots of free surface area in there to use??! -
Agreed , that's what gets on my nerves .. there's even space for a 2nd hdd ..
That's why i've turned my attention to clevo and asus for the time being ..
Yeah the bullet holes are great -
Shame, they could have gone far with this, and the release dates suggest a good revamp of the internals, obv not
Clevo i think would be my next looker. But this machines not gna die for a while, and with a potential q9200 upgrade
me = happy
.
-
May be the next line of G's will be different.. good start in the 660.
Clevo is top of my list but like you said , there's plenty of life left in the "lowly" 4850.
I love my ES -
ES are great, just need to save up haha,
lowly 4850come on, have you seen our vantage scores! xD.
Hopefully it'l last dam long, i think with DX11 round the corner, we won't see 10 anymore, but 9 and 11 will be standard. -
We do have some nice scores
Dx10 suck big time , hopefully they will make good use of 11 .. anyway , 9 will still be around for some time so we don't really need to worry about those things
