Synaptics touchpad driver v 19.5.31.19 from MSI (Win10x64 19H1)

 

I installed Synaptics touchpad driver v 19.5.31.19 from MSI and cannot turnoff my touchpad using fn+f3 anymore, is there a way to roll back this driver ?

 

Uninstall the current driver then reboot

Download this Synaptics Touchpad Driver 19.5.31.11 (this is the driver in the OP)

Make sure to right click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you unzip the file, then it may not install correctly.

To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, follow the guide in this thread:

After you've unblocked the file, unzip it, then install it

Reboot

PS: DO NOT install drivers uploaded from users via external sites! Only use the drivers in the OP which are official MSI drivers.

I had tried and failed doing that yesterday as it seemed the logical thing to do.

In case someone else has the same problem :

First the installation did not run because Windows didn't want to accept synaptics certificate (took me a while to fix it) and later the driver installation always ended up throwing an error "unable to connect synaptics pointing device driver".

I was blocked there for a while. I found a workaround by giving administrator privileges to SteelSeries Engine 3 core at startup and was able to finish installation.

In device manager I noticed touchpad was still using the new driver and rolled back to previous driver. It went back to the generic windows driver, not the synaptics one.

Finally I installed the driver from device manager and pointed to the 19.5.31.11 installation folder, rebooted and I could finally disable the touch pad again.

 

Currently, to solve the problem, please manually update the latest touchpad driver v19.5.31.19 and reboot the system 3 times after the update.

Driver Update Steps:

1. Download the driver v19.5.31.19 and extract the driver package.
2. Disconnect the network.
3. Right click on “SynPD.inf” and select Install.
4. Manually restart the system 3 times.

Stable driver v19.5.31.16.

-the link to the UAD MSI driver package is the same but now has 8984 instead of 8975.

I have also looked on the MSI forum and anything that was on the old forum is a total mess.

 

Does this work on models with 10th-gen Intel CPUs?

 

It should do the version I link is for 6th gen up it's known to be working on 7th/8th gen so see no reason it wouldn't work on 10th gen systems.

More then likely from the Nahimic website, I can confirm this driver is being supplied by a 3rd party on nahimic's website as I am modding them now for the 4/5/6 gen MSI laptops.

Sound driver for motherboards, but it works great on laptops as well. There are no changes in the driver structure.

Sorry, I can only update drivers that are taken directly from other Laptop driver pages, not a motherboard.

 

In this case, need to wait for a new generation of devices to update the tested driver. Drivers don't come to old devices very often.

Yes, it is compatible, but the driver is too bloated due to ISST. In principle, the installer should not install unnecessary drivers.

Here You did the wrong thing by deleting the previous driver because it is not compatible.
This driver is only for the TGL platform.
