To save the BIOS, boot from DOS bootable USB with the afudos.exe on it, and type "afudos mybios.rom /O".

@stadler5 not getting what you typed there at all??

My German is very rusty and good old Google translate is as much use as a bucket full of water.

If stadler5 your saying you have another bios for the MS-16F2 barebone then you can use a backup bios tool which has been posted i think in Xona's XMP topic and use that to back the bios up.

Seems, they were using the QS 2920XM.

Too bad they don't say how they did it. I just looked through the GT780DX's latest BIOS but I didn't see any additional options.

    Hi Hacktrix2006,

Great work. Flashed well with working microcode!

I was wondering, would your contact at MSI have the newest VBIOS for the 570m too? If this is a hassle, please ignore.

    Cheers,

    Scott

Performance wise i have not tested yet pau1ow but i will do soon on the other hand the new bios has all the microcodes by default no added ones was performed. The new bios is also less buggy after a full CMOS reset via battery as well. Temps are lower i have noticed and my CPU is now sticking at 2.7GHZ to 2.8GHZ like 98% of the time i have seen 3.1GHZ on the other 2% will do 3Dmark 11 later and a 3Dmark06 as well to see if there is infact a performance boost

Well.heeled.man best bet is to contact MSI directly i can only get Bios's for the barebones. If your nice to them they will work with you.

If you state to them your after a bios update for your GFX card they might help but in all fairness GFX Bioses are rarely updated by OEM unless there is a reported issue to performance or graphical issues.

On the other hand i have a Nice GTX560M does anyone know how to by pass the Lock which stops me using Afterburner to underclock and overclock as the preset values are not that great.

    Hi hacktrix2006,

Are you recommending that after flashing, we should pull the battery to rest the CMOS as part of the procedure?

As for you OC question, I recommend that you use Svet's VBIOS Tuner. It's a €15 donation, but worth every penny. It should be more stable and will also let you bump the voltage, should you want to.

    Svet's Fermi VBIOS Tuner - [ver: 1.19d]

well.heeled.man I personally just Clear the CMOS with the battery trick old habbit but the Laptop Does its itself with the power on shutoff tick. So thats upto you.

Is there another way without VBIOS modding ? For overclocking that is.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what you can do if it will not work for you, other than try EVGA Precision instead of MSI Afterburner. I sent you a message, so check your PM's...

If we get Ivy bridge working on this machine and we have base clock control and ivy bridge has different ratios built in (100 base clock, 133 base clock) we might be able to overclock it......

That same seller has the 3720 and 3820 as well (only 1-2 pcs), I asked.

So they could be cheaper options.

I'm still waiting for a better deal.

Well reading what i have the ME Firmware needs updating which will be down to MSI to release that firmware out. But otherwise it be microcodes to allow it to run right which we could pinch from the Z68 boards from MSI when they get updated.

the IGP in is the CPU so Vbios is not required as the new Vbios will be embedded already.

Right going to do some benchs now on 3D11 and PCMark7 will post results.

Just one thing though Turbo boost on my laptop on new bios stays solid on 2.9GHZ hits 3.1GHZ easy now.

I was pretty sure that the vbios was a module contained in the system bios.
Might have to double check when I get home, but I find it hard to believe that the vbios could be on the CPU.

i could be wrong myself, just going on the logic of on a Desktop or Laptop Dedicated card the Vbios is on the card. Not only that when you upgrade the CPU from one to the other i.e from a i7 2670QM to say the 2920XM i would think the GPU would be different.

    That's a good point.
But I do know that in previous generations the vbios for the intel gpu was in the system bios.
Kizwan even helped me flash a desktop intel 3150 vbios onto my netbook.

While dedicated gpus had the vbios either on a separate EEPROM next to the Gpu or in some cases the EEPROM was missing and the vbios was integrated into the system bios.

This might seem off topic but whats the max anyone has got out of the GTX560M on overclocking?

I have managed to Vcore under to 0.950 but getting the odd Nvidia driver crash and was wondering if that is too low for 850/1700/1300 Overclock?

Also you reckon if i wanted to go to a 570M will i need a heatsink mod?

    850/1700/1300 is low for a 560M, esp MSI's.
They usually tend to o/c to 900+ and my 460M clocked to 865/1730/1650.

    What is your 3d voltage ? 1V ?

If you go for a 570M, you will need the proper heatsink, you can't mod yours as it is really different to the 570s.

3D volt is 0.950 on both P0 and P1 so the settings stick as barebones only have P1.

I want to keep the temps sub 85c or sub 80c really. I am new to overclocking Laptop graphics cards so want to be careful like.

As for the GTX570M how easy is it to get the right heatsink for it ?

Also i only have a ADP-150NB D power pack which i think is a 150W pack so i have to be careful
