Hi, there is the possibility of a BIOS update to enable DTS soud on the Realtek chip? That would be a great thing.

Right i have started to notice overtime the ACPI bug is getting to be very trouble some. So i will redoing the lastest bios again and again till i get it perfect.

Some of you might be getting the same bug as well. So rather then rush jobs like normal i will start to make sure that if i unlock a bios it will be 1 week of testing till all issues are solved.

This might mean that a Unlocked Perfect bios will have some items not unlocked.

I want to know how you all feel about this and what you want Unlocked for sure and what you don't mind not getting unlocked.

Right I have found the Bug in the Bios that causes the issue. Now I need you views.

The bug is cause by Hibernation setting in the BIOS set to enabled now once i set this to DISABLED i was able to alter all the settings without the BSOD.

Now shell i redo the unlock with this set as DISABLED by default or do we just leave it as it is knowing 100% that causes the issue.

Edit Update: I have made the bios with Hibernation disabled and it will still BSOD if i enable something so its looking like bios locking. Looking into it more now but with the settings on the BIOS image i have made now The laptop is more reponsive i can boot into windows quite fast now and opening programs is faster too. I must be on the right track somewhere on this once i have made it so that the stock settings work with the tweaks that i have made i will then make the two images again and will pass on to some people for testing.

I need 3 people in total for testing stages if you have the Barebone and not a OEM version of the barebone PM me if you want to test with the CPU and RAM you have also GPU and lets see if we can sort this out once and for all.

I think we should now really ask MSI about a new BIOS with XTU supported, similar to the P170HM's BIOS that has been released by Sager/Clevo afterwards.

Now at least we know that it's possible to o/c XM CPU with the MSI notebooks (cf: MSI Global ? News) but they didn't provide any clue of how to do it...

That's feasible but how shall we figure out how to do it ? Should we ask Bios-Mod as I've heard they have tweaked P170HM Bios with XTU support...

Let's fully unlock the MSI power!

You can do but i have been waiting for a BIOS-Mod member to mod a bios for me for a long time and it still hasn't happened so you can try but don't get too excited!

If we could just fully unlock the "CPU Information" menu; we'd be pretty close to having XTU functionality.

what is currently the newest bios for the MSI MS-16F2 Barebone? Would the possibility exist that this be modified for a Medion X6819 including Dolby Home Theater v4? The current bios version is 5.0B from Medion, but I know, is not, upon what basis this, it is from 1 september 2011th I currently use so those of you specially modified version of which also still based on the 5.0B, so some settings are enabled. I would be happy if you for example anything could change the fan control. Medion itself unfortunately provides no BIOS support.

What I meant was that if we could use the options in the "CPU Information" menu; it'd be almost as good as having XTU.

First test of the MS-16F3 (17.3" version but the same motherboard), but in German. Http://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-One-M73-2N-Notebook.72420.0.html

Optimus seems to bring much. It was also used a Sandy Bridge CPU ES. An illuminated keyboard is unfortunately again not, strangely enough, is also missing the 3rd USB 3.0 on the left side.

Whether it ever will be possibility, the keyboard of the MSI GT60 illuminated in an MS-16F2 barebone install?

    Hello everyone,

    Laptop: GX660

    Problem:
This all started when I got some GSODs. I looked for possible updates to fix the issue. I downloaded the bios posted and proceeded to flash it. It did the BIOSCHK and continued to erase the existing bios. While erasing, it got to about 30% when the computer lost power. I am trying the BIOS Recovery. I turn it on, it checks the hard-drive and the USB. The usb blinks a couple of times and it turns off only to stay there (no beeps, nothing).

Could anyone please guide me to flash a working bios? Is my computer fixable? Please, I really appreciate your help with this.

Hi congrats on the brick, First thing to check which bios did you try to flash.
Have you made a USB stick with Fat16 or Fat32 and the original bios named to AMIBIOS.rom.

If not do this if this fails the only thing you can do is send it back for service.

Also make sure next time you have the brick in and the battery.

If you look at the first post on this page it will have a howto to recover the bios.

would not it be possible to modify a bios from an MS-16F3 so that it can be utilized with an MS-16F2, possibly to the Intel HD graphics card and thus to activate optimus?

Current MS-16F3 devices have optimus yes, even with Sandy Bridge CPU and a GTX670M, which is just a renamed GTX570M.

It may also be interested in me would be if you can see light now that obstruct the GT60 keyboard in MS-16F2 or not ...

You will be able to flash your 570M with the 670M vbios I'm sure (670M just o/c 570M).

I did flash my 580M in my 16F2 with the Clevo 675M vbios:

No improvement if this is what you were expecting :p

    The 670M is a 570M with a light overclock.

So far MSI hasn't posted the BIOS's for the new laptops on their site.

I think the 3.0Z version is the latest? If I use this on my Medion, is the right USB is disabled and the subwoofer still works, not even with other drivers (i think, only with Medion Notebooks....). But the Realtek Software and the Biosscreen shows "DynAudio".

Coll I have the modified version of you by my original bios on the Medion.

Here are the both Bios files, date: 6th April 2012.

How many people have flashed this 3.0Z i have asked nicely to MSI for the barebone version. Here is the e-mail i typed to My MSI Friend

"Hi there just checking to see if you have anymore bios updates for the MS-16F2 barebone and one for the Nvidia GTX560 M??
The GTX560M is the one with Device ID 10DE-1251 Subvendor is 1462 (MSI) Current bios version is 70.26.00.06 (P1065-0013)
    Thanks in advance.

Also do you know if You’ll be doing a Bios Update and ME Firmware 8 for the Barebone MS-16F2."

Not sure what happened mate to be honest was going though diags for throttling issues i new the stock 3.05 didn't do this so went and flashed backwards. Dumb i know but it was worth a try.

But i have now fixed the throttling issue it was the GPU no being happy with the thermal pads replaced the cheap nasty ones that come with OEM spec'os and now its flies again. Athough a nice 670M would be nice shame about the Ivy Bridge CPU's not being supported.

Before even saying AMD/ATI i jumped that ship long ago LOL.

A 670 is just an OCd 570, not much difference, to be honest. Why don't you just get a 570? Much cheaper, even.

The 5XXM cards should work with Optimus too, you need the 16F3's motherboard to use it though.

Or else, I could just flash my 580M to a 675M, since they're exactly the same, and get Optimus.

The 16F2 is not wired for optimus, the display outputs are routed through the gfx card and not the integrated on the CPU.

    10. Apply settings permanently after restart. (DON'T RESTART, EXIT TAB)

    11. Set ICC Watchdog Timer back to Enabled.

    12. Save settings and restart. (Your 16F2 should turn off)

    13. Turn OC'd 16F2 back on... :D

    What is Maximum System TDP?

Maximum System TDP is the aggregate of the maximum TDP values for the Processor(s), MCH, and ICH of the grouping you have chosen, or the search feature has found. MCHs & ICHs might have varying TDP values, depending on the number of active memory channels, the front-side bus speed, and other factors. Check the respective Thermal Design Guides for the parts in question. A safe estimate is to choose the highest possible TDP values.

Maybe they've stopped now that the 16F3 is out.
