Use dxdiag whilst the USB headset is connected and I will need the USB info from either of the sound tabs if your unsure just screen shot the sound tabs and link them here.

You are amazing in that you replied so quickly. I was actually coming back to provide some more information and I saw you already replied. Thank you for being so incredibly supportive!
I found this PowerShell script and ran it to get some helpful information.
https://www.tenforums.com/sound-audio/125936-determine-hda-realtek-driver-needed-your-audio.html
(RealtekAudioDriverIntegration.ps1)
The output was as follows:
The Hardware ID of the Audio device is: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0899&SUBSYS_146211DE&REV_1000
The Realtek Audio CODEC is : ALC899
The Audio device is controlled by Realtek Audio driver version 6.0.8804.1 with no integration (Generic)
The legacy HDA driver proposed for this Audio device is FF00
I actually expected it to show that the audio device had Nahimic integration (FF03).
In any case, I ran a dxdiag and attached the results.
Edit: To answer your question, yes, I enabled airplane mode, uninstalled all UWP apps and the Realtek drivers, then went into Device Manager and uninstalled every sound device, including the microphone. After that, I rebooted and installed your drivers again.Attached Files:

Right your Codec is in 8810.1 drivers just checked.
So here is what I want you to do, Download the 8810.1 drivers then disconnect from the internet and run the installer. If it asks for to overwrite any file say yes to all.
Let it do its thing, then test the mic after if it does work after that but fails to work after connecting to the internet please follow the instructions for known issues for Microsoft over riding the drivers some times even with the normal blocks they still get past with doing the instructions in the known issue section.

Back with results. Mic is still not working. By that I mean it is not recording my voice in Voice Recorder app. However, the mic icon shows up in the system tray saying one app is using the microphone. I also set Device Installation Settings to "No" and reinstalled drivers (no internet). No change. I looked at the driver details in Device Manager and see that it creates a category called "Audio inputs and outputs" with two entries.
Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio)
Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)
and under the Sound, video and game controllers category it creates one entry
Realtek(R) Audio
The driver tab for this last one shows "Realtek Semiconductor Corp." version 6.0.88.10.1 as expected.
The driver tab for the two input/output entries show "Microsoft" version 10.0.18362.1.
Is that supposed to look like that? -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Yes it's ment to be like that.
Ok head to settings, System then sound.
Then click Device Properties underneath microphone, then select Additional device properties.
Once there select the listen tab and check Listen to this device and select apply.
Then run above the microphone on the laptop. If it plays though then the mic is working and it's a permission issue in the privacy area.

Update...
Unfortunately that did not change anything. I know you are limited with internet right now, but if you would like to look at it remotely later, I can work with you. Or, if you would like me to try anything else or provide anymore information, I am happy to. I respect your time, so if you are out of suggestions, that is perfectly fine as well.
I think I will try to remove everything and install the latest official Realtek drivers only and see if the microphone works. I know it works with the Windows default drivers, but not sure if it worked with Realtek drivers. -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Hi give Realtek drivers a go, however you could use my drivers and only install the Realtek drivers there is an option to do that in my installer, I can't do any remoting till I have a fixed connection working again which I am unsure when that will be.
If the normal Realtek drivers work aka non modded I will spend some time with you to see if we can sort the issue out which means testing beta drivers.

I downloaded the 8810 drivers from here and installed them after cleaning everything up.
https://github.com/alanfox2000/realtek-hda-release/releases/
Everything looks the same as with your installer, minus the Realtek and Nahimic apps, but the mic is working. I will leave it alone until you have internet and time to look at it further. -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Which zip file did you use the RTK or Nahimic one? Reason I ask is because I use the same driver set for the mods.
If you could test my Driver mod again but use the Install Realtek option this will install just the Realtek stuff and not Nahimic.
Then test again, if the microphone doesn't work after that try going into Realtek audio console and clicking the gear icon. Uncheck Auto jack detection and reboot if it works after that then place auto jack detection back on and reboot to check again.
It just dawned on me that Realtek Audio Console might be the issue if so next up for that might fix it again.

I used the Nahimic one, but when I tried to install the Nahimic app it did not work (expected). But it works otherwise. I will do as you requested, uninstall everything, reboot, then install yours without Nahimic. I will report back shortly.

Great news now run the launch.exe and do a repair Nahimic Install which will then install the Nahimic bit to see if it will work after. This should help me know where to look then.

So initially I was really excited because I tested the microphone and it is working. However, I tried to open Nahimic (which did get installed) and it says "Nahimc cannot be used" (which is what happened when I installed non-modified drivers directly and tried to install Nahimic separately. I also ran that PowerShell script again and it indicated that the drivers are not configured for Nahimic support.

Strange, Just checked the modded driver on all three files that are modified and Codec 899 is in there.
When it reboots when running installer does it show the water mark in the corner saying test signing mode?
Sorry for delay in reply my 4G network just went down for a moment.
Sent from my SNE-LX1 using Tapatalk -
Yes, it does. Before I do anything with your installer, I always put my laptop into airplane mode to disable any internet connection. I kick off the launcher and make my selection (in this case it was repair Nahimic). When it rebooted, the watermark was in the bottom right corner. A powershell windows popped up (I assume installing the Nahimic app). Then it rebooted again. Still no internet. I tested mic, worked. I tried the Nahimic app, didn't work. Turned on internet and tried again. No change.
I will reboot and try again. Clean everything and try the install of drivers the same way a second time (never joining the internet between installing without Nahimic and then repairing Nahimic). -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
Let me know how it goes, it's a dam cat and mouse when Microsoft is concerned with drivers and UWP applications.
Going to hit the hay it's nearly 3am my end and engineer(s) are coming tomorrow, let see how many is needed to replace a wire that's broken lol.
Sent from my SNE-LX1 using Tapatalk -
Sounds good man, good night. Good luck with those engineers tomorrow. Sounds like there's a lightbulb joke in there somewhere. lol
End result of the test is that I am in the same state. Drivers installed fine. Microphone works. Nahimic repair installed the app. Nahimic does not work.
So, if I clean up everything and do a full install, I get drivers and Nahimic app installed and working, but microphone not working. If I install drivers separately, then Nahimic repair, I get a non-functional Nahimic app, but microphone works. A real head scratcher.
If you think of anything tomorrow, I am happy to continue to chip away at it with you. -

Lol my brain won't shut off at all. I should be fine. It's not as if I haven't done long stints awake (Although will never do 72+ hour runs ever again, running servers that crash on you that require data recovery is nasty). But if my quick scan of the .ahk RTKAIO file is correct I made a newbie mistake (Which means I should really update my Hyper-VM snapshots as it's all done in a VM).
If it works I will add the fixed RTKAIO in next build. If people have same issue just PM me and I will send you the file, hence why I made the installer the way I did thankfully makes patching easier.
Sent from my SNE-LX1 using Tapatalk -
I cleaned it all up again and tried a Full Install again, Nahimic works, mic does not.
One thing I noticed different between the two install routines. When I do a Full Install option, there are three driver warning messages that pop up briefly (I assume driver signing warning messages). When I choose drivers without Nahimic, I only see two warning messages pop up briefly. I don't know, but I am wondering if that has something to do with why Nahimic is not working when doing drivers without Nahimic first? Trying to be helpful. It may mean nothing at all. -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
The quick pop ups are unsigned driver notices. It's just auto locked. Does Nahimic APO show in software components in device manager?
Which build of windows your running i.e 1703/1709/1803/1809/1903.
Just seems odd that No Nahimic Microphone works but Full install with Nahimic microphone doesn't work.
Will see if internet gets fixed tomorrow and will Remote in once I have caught up with everything as I have had no fix line access since monday.

Fuuuh. Finally done with the backflips required to change the SSD on my PS42. Now after reimaging and final testing I can go back to poking around.
At least I can confirm that my internal mic is working all fine and dandy over here with Nahimic installed... and the gimmicky-looking mic enhancer algorithm thingy Nahimic has is actually working surprisingly well.
I gotta wonder though, who was it that thought it was a GOOD IDEA to strive for minimal chassis depth by using upside-down mobos? Sigh.Last edited: Oct 11, 2019hacktrix2006 likes this. -

With thanks from @djlenoir, I have manage to find 2 errors with my script to which will be correct in the next build which will resolve the Repair Nahimic option as well as also seeing for some odd reason that certain MSI laptop mic issues is because it's set to mute after the driver mod is installed.

Install instructions:
- Disconnect from the internet (Blame Microsoft as they are still able to install drivers from Windows Update even when blocked with .reg file).
- Reboot System and Enter BIOS/UEFI.
- Please DISABLE SECUREBOOT in your BIOS this is now important for this new installer!
- Once you have booted back into the OS Temporarily disable AV software.
- Now run the Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.8816.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe Installer
- Select Full Install, Install Without Nahimic, Repair/Driver Update or Fix Nahimic 3. However mostly Full install button should be used.
- Sit back and relax as the UWP's get uninstalled, the driver gets uninstalled and then your system is rebooted into test signing mode and everything is installed and your system is rebooted again!
- Now head back into your BIOS/UEFI and Re-enable SecureBoot!!
- Now let the system boot up fully and re-enable the internet connection.
***[IMPORTANT]****
Known possible bugs and fixes:
Issue: Jack Detection not working.
Solution: Simply go to Realtek Audio Console Disable and Re-enable it.
Issue: Microphone not working after using Nahimic Optimizer.
Solution: Click Reset inside Nahimic Settings section will fix this.
Issue: Microsoft Overwritten the installed modded driver.
Solution: Head to Settings → System → About, Now click System info then Select Advance System Settings → Hardware Tab → Driver Installation Settings, now select NO! save and reboot
the system. Then head to c:\Audio\8816.1\ and run the launch.exe file to start the reinstall.
Issue: Nahimic 3 reports its device is not compatible basically not working.
Solution: Head to c:\Audio\8816.1\ folder and launch the launch.exe file. When the installer has loaded select Repair Nahimic, this will then uninstall the Nahimic 3 APO drivers and UWP then reinstall them after a reboot,
this should fix the issue.

- Now run the Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.8821.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe Installer
- Select Full Install, Install Without Nahimic, Repair/Driver Update or Fix Nahimic 3. However mostly Full install button should be used.
- Sit back and relax as the UWP's get uninstalled, the driver gets uninstalled and then your system is rebooted into test signing mode and everything is installed and your system is rebooted again!
- Now head back into your BIOS/UEFI and Re-enable SecureBoot!!
- Now let the system boot up fully and re-enable the internet connection.

Solution: Head to Settings → System → About, Now click System info then Select Advance System Settings → Hardware Tab → Driver Installation Settings, now select NO! save and reboot
the system. Then head to c:\Audio\8821.1\ and run the launch.exe file to start the reinstall.
Issue: Nahimic 3 reports its device is not compatible basically not working.
Solution: Head to c:\Audio\8821.1\ folder and launch the launch.exe file. When the installer has loaded select Repair Nahimic, this will then uninstall the Nahimic 3 APO drivers and UWP then reinstall them after a reboot,
this should fix the issue.
