Nahimic 3 on "unsupported systems"

@djlenoir yes its great we are now on a new UWP setup for Nahimic 3 as everyone else however just because 1.5.1 worked doesn't mean 1.5.2 or others will, but it does confirm the Exclusivity deal Nahimic and MSI have was the issue of the buggy mess from after 1.4.2.0.

@epguy3 This driver repack has always been for MSI Systems, the fact it had been working on your system although was great also meant that unsupported by myself.

Now recently the Nahimic SWC / Extensions and Mirror driver got an extensive update which means there is a possibility for more locking down as Nahimic has been getting rid of any posts on their helprace forum's big time.

As for the ASRock User ASRock have been very slow to even publish drivers for their systems when concerning Nahimic Audio drivers and it will more then likely get fixed soon enough. As for the MSI Forum user they used the APO restore file which would of done what the Uninstaller does on this driver repack but only for the Nahimic files and then reinstalled them.

@OgUrecheK and @virgolicidaniel your both correct the driver pack has been made with only MSI systems in mind.

@OgUrecheK You are correct in that the UWP is universal however it does basic checks for OEM's Subsystem ID's as well as Codec ID's hence systems on OEM's that do no have an agreement with Nahimic would fail as their ID's wouldn't be in the system.

Install instructions:

- Disconnect from the internet.

- Reboot System and Enter BIOS/UEFI.

- Please DISABLE SECUREBOOT in your BIOS this is now important for this new installer!

- Once you have booted back into the OS Temporarily disable AV software (Some Anti-Virus tools might false report and delete the file!).

- Now run the Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9049.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe Installer

- Select either Full Install, Install Without Nahimic, Full Uninstall or Downgrade Nahimic 3.

- Sit back and relax as the UWP's get uninstalled, the driver gets uninstalled and then your system is rebooted into test signing mode and everything is installed and your system is rebooted again!

- Now head back into your BIOS/UEFI and Re-enable SecureBoot!!

- Now let the system boot up fully and re-enable the internet connection.

Known possible bugs and fixes:

Issue: Two Nahimic Mirroring device show up in Device Manager:
Solution: run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9049.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Uninstall first before using Full Install.

Issue: Nahimic 3 updated via Windows 10 Store and no longer works.
Solution: Head into Windows 10's Store and Select the 3 Dots, followed by Settings and turn of Windows Store's Auto Application Updates,
then run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9049.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Downgrade Nahimic.

Issue: Ran Nahimic 3 Downgrade option however Nahimic 3 1.5.1.0 UWP effects are not working or its reporting the device is not upto date.
Solution: Simply run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9049.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe select Uninstall and then after its completed the Uninstall re-run
Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9049.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Full Install.

Issue: Jack Detection not working.
Solution: Simply go to Realtek Audio Console Disable and Re-enable it.

Issue: Microphone not working after using Nahimic Optimizer.

Issue: Microsoft Overwritten the installed modded driver.
Solution: Head to Settings → System → About, Now click System info then Select Advance System Settings → Hardware Tab → Driver Installation Settings, now select NO! save and reboot

Nahimic 1.5.2 released, just updated from MS. What's new: equalizer bugfix, compatibility issues fixed, new supported models.

On the latest release, nahimic mirroring device driver version is 8.51.48.758 instead of 1.0.3.0 like the previous one did.
{what was specified in the changelog Updated Nahimic Mirroring from 8.51.48.758 to 1.0.3.0 (New file name hence smaller number) }
I was running 1.0.3.0 before updating, i disabled internet, disabled secure boot, did a full uninstall, checked the device manager and everything was removed, did a full install => wrong driver version, enabled internet and secure boot, updated nahimic, re-enabled windows updates => still wrong version
Later edit: also tried manually installing from C:\Audio\9049.1\Win64\ThirdParty\Media and also from device manager still on 8.51.48.758.
Later edit2: i just saw the new driver shows up under software components while the old driver is still showing under sound, video and game controllers. Is this the way it works ?

 

Strange, as I have looked in the folder and it shows 1.0.3.0 but it's done the same for me too. Will look into it.


Ok so deleted the driver and ran the mirror installer file and it promptly installed 8.51.48.758

and shouldn't it install 1.0.3.0 instead ? As far as i know and you also said that 1.0.3.0 is newer. I'll try later if mirroring works fine having both the drivers and i'll also try to disable/delete the older one and check for problems.

 

The driver "Nahimic Mirroring Component Device" is a universal installer for "Nahimic mirroring device".

 

I can confirm that updating the Nahimic app via the Store still works correctly BUT it install the Nahimic Companion crap. (the mod pack does not)

 

Mine also installs the Companion app, but it doesn't run it at boot.

I've installed on my MSI GE62 6QF, works great. There was a problem with instalation though, It was stuck on first install, so I restarted the computer and ran installation again and this time no problems.

 

Was secureboot disabled? As that is required for the driver to successfully install as the drivers are not signed.

Also you said it was stuck how long was it stuck for as it runs the uninstaller first before rebooting. It can take a while as it makes sure it only removes the correct drivers.

actually I found the real cause for this problem I had - using an outdated or old Nahimic "extension" INF file (AVoluteNH3Ext.inf) that lacks the PKEY_VENDORNAME & VENDORNAME registry entries.

it seems the recent 1.5.x versions of the Nahimic 3 app check for the presence of these reg entries and will only run if those "VendorName" keys are present and fail on systems without those keys with the "not compatible" message.

MSI seems to be ahead of the curve when requesting updated AVoluteNH3Ext.inf & NH3ProductSettings.cab files from the Nahimic creator to work with recent 1.5.x versions of the Nahimic3 app. some other OEM versions of the AVoluteNH3Ext.inf file do not have the PKEY_VENDORNAME & VENDORNAME entries yet and will have to play catch-up and ask Nahimic for newer Nahimic extension driver files with the updated AVoluteNH3Ext.inf file that includes the "VendorName" registry keys in order for the Nahimic3 1.5.x app versions to work on other systems beside MSI.

so using the newest AVoluteNH3Ext.inf file with those "VendorName" entries included makes all the difference in running the newest versions of the Nahimic3 app

 

Secure boot is always disabled .
It was stuck for about 15-20 minutes. After restart, I ran the installation again and after another reboot, I've disabled eset just to be sure. It then completed sucesfully but I don't know if it is related.

 

I run eset myself and it doesn't get flagged, if you look at virus total results it show which ones will have an issue with the driver though.

 

UPDATED - Installed on my New GF65 Thin 9th Gen with no issues (yet to test but install went fine.) Still have the Raider in sig and will probably test with that as well, but dont plan on keeping that machine (Guts of it have gone in new one, will be building to sell, not sure Modded drivers would go down well.)

 

Just a heads up it would seem Microsoft is being Microsoft again, just switched on my laptop to find there was no sound, Microsoft decided to install a Dell Audio driver without permission. If this happens after a Windows update just re-run the installer.

Interesting that it is a Dell driver that was identified. Is the driver that we are using for the latest build also a Dell driver?

 

No, the Latest driver is an MSI, yet MS keeps installing a Dell one not sure why but it kills the sound. The one also MS installs is a HDA and not a UAD driver.

It didn't happen to me yet. No updates shows up regarding audio drivers on my gf63 8rd.
Later edit: i have an optional realtek semiconductor corp. Media 1/22/2019 6.0.1.8622

 

most likely a screwup on Microsoft's part.

good thing I use tools like wushowhide.diagcab, WUMT or Wumgr to hide/block unwanted driver updates from MS AND use "metered" internet connections which stop some of the automatic driver updates (like I was prepared for these types of occasional "oopsies" from M$)

 

However i do the same as what them tools do via Regedits and GPO edits.

I have Driver Installation settings set to NO
I have ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate Registery keys set to 1 which equals NO
I have DriverSearching Registery key set to 0 which equals NO
I also have GPO's set to the same as the registery all set to disabled thus NO

However Microsoft still manages to go Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes, oops did i screw your system up. Hope you have a backup.

However will look into seeing what i can do to solve the issue.

 

Might have solved the issue, it would seem MS added a key for Device Meta Data, which from what I can gather looks for Driver Updates.

So I have added to reg settings to block that just about to test now if it works it will be permanently added to the script and the Disconnect from internet section will no longer matter if it works.

Install instructions:

- Disconnect from the internet. (Not Required, so very Optional)

- Reboot System and Enter BIOS/UEFI.

- Please DISABLE SECUREBOOT in your BIOS this is now important for this new installer!

- Once you have booted back into the OS Temporarily disable AV software (Some Anti-Virus tools might false report and delete the file!).

- Now run the Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe Installer

- Select either Full Install, Install Without Nahimic, Full Uninstall or Downgrade Nahimic 3.

- Sit back and relax as the UWP's get uninstalled, the driver gets uninstalled and then your system is rebooted into test signing mode and everything is installed and your system is rebooted again!

- Now head back into your BIOS/UEFI and Re-enable SecureBoot!!

- Now let the system boot up fully and re-enable the internet connection. (Only if you disconnected from the internet)

Known possible bugs and fixes:

Issue: Two Nahimic Mirroring device show up in Device Manager:
Solution: run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Uninstall first before using Full Install.

Issue: Nahimic 3 updated via Windows 10 Store and no longer works.
Solution: Head into Windows 10's Store and Select the 3 Dots, followed by Settings and turn of Windows Store's Auto Application Updates,
then run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Downgrade Nahimic.

Issue: Ran Nahimic 3 Downgrade option however Nahimic 3 1.5.2.0 UWP effects are not working or its reporting the device is not upto date.
Solution: Simply run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe select Uninstall and then after its completed the Uninstall re-run
Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Full Install.

Issue: Jack Detection not working.
Solution: Simply go to Realtek Audio Console Disable and Re-enable it.

Issue: Microphone not working after using Nahimic Optimizer.
Solution: Click Reset inside Nahimic Settings section will fix this.

Issue: Microsoft Overwritten the installed modded driver.
Solution: Head to Settings → System → About, Now click System info then Select Advance System Settings → Hardware Tab → Driver Installation Settings, now select NO! save and reboot
the system. Then run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Full Uninstall, after it has rebooted your system re-run Realtek_UAD_6.0.1.9071.1_MSI_Nahimic_UWP_mod.exe and select Full Install.

Just a heads up to everyone, I managed to break my VM Host Server in a funky way, only way to fix it is to Backup the important files and then remake the VM Host Server from scratch. This will mean any new mod packs is now on hold till i have fixed the issue.

Well you have good timing, I managed to completely rebuild the entire network by 8 am the following day. All systems are working again. I know am looking to find a New X86 with an AMD 4 / 8 or 6 / 12 threaded CPU with upgradable RAM, as after setting everything up correctly this time 8GB RAM is becoming and issue and so is just 4 Cores with no SMT's.

But it means driver packs are buildable once again.

Just a heads up Nahimic 1.5.2 has and update to Nahimic 1.5.4 will let you know how it goes.

Edit: its save to update people! Guess its time to see if there is a driver update too

 

maybe MSI will update the Realtek drivers - sometime after Xmas

I'd been thinking - have you considered making two separate modded MSI Realtek drivers; one that uses Nahimic 3 APO integration files (ex. NAHIMICV3apo.dll) and another for Nahimic 4 APO files (ex. NahimicAPO4.dll)?. the specific Realtek UAD/DCH drivers for recent 11th gen intel based MSI laptops (like MSI Modern 14/15) use the newer Nahimic APO4 integration files.

v1.4.x & v1.5.x of the Nahimic3 uwp app from MS store can work with either Nahimic APO3 or APO4 set of files (but obviously not with both)

 

Can be included more then likely in the current mod. However thing is that I don't own anything higher then 6th gen which was the main scope of the project to make it compatible with older systems. The fact it works on newer systems is a bonus.

What I have noticed is the APO4 files are currently in the last driver. Or at least the .DLL files.

Hello everybody,
it has been a long time since my last post.
I am glad to see that this threat is growing very fast and it is getting bigger every day.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in this success and I would like to thank you for these awesome modded drivers.

Yesterday I wanted to try new versions of this diver for my laptop. It is Msi GT73 6RF with 6 gen CPU but none of these drivers work for my laptop.
What I am doing wrong? I disabled secure boot and antivirus, try everything full install, full uninstall then full install and drivers are installed successfully but I have no sound at all on my laptop.
I would like to ask what is the best version of these drivers for my laptop?

Sorry about that, only just woke up on the last reply.

Right you say Sound doesn't work, is on the Audio Jacks aka using Headphones your having this issue or is it Internal Speakers.

Best still a dxdiag would be great.

Also during the Driver install did you get the Test Sign with Windows Version message at the bottom corner after the First reboot?

If not then the driver didn't get installed correctly.

The sound does not work at all. Build-in laptop speakers and headphones. Something is not right, it is not just your drivers, any newer Realtek drivers not working on my laptop at all.

yes, I did. The laptop went to Test mode and install everything. Even Nahimic is working, I can open the program and mess with settings but I do not have any output on my speakers.
I have sound only with windows build in Realtek drivers or with old Msi drivers from support page for my laptop model.
