I don't see the GS73VR with the 1070 listed on your website anymore...is this vaporware now?

MSI asked us to remove it for now since it's still gonna take few weeks for shipment to arrive, once shipment arrives we will re-list it.

I've seen french and german retailers listing a mid-April ETA for this one. Too late for me I'm sorry to say. Might have to get the flaming Asus GL702VS.

Same. Just wish their keyboard was better. Don't understand why their cheaper gl753 line gets a dope keyboard but this one doesn't

Hope this is true! I am looking to pick up a replacement for my 770dm and a thin and light machine would be great! Hope a review would be up too!

Off topic does the speakers really sound bad? I am coming from an aw15r1 and 770dm and both machines have great speakers. I might return it if it really is bad. Hope someone can enlighten me! Thanks!

It's terrible, but you do get used to it. It's a tiny step above a phone speaker.

AFAIK speaker quality on the standard GS63VR is not very good, like, at all, and I don't expect that to change this time around unless they've specifically mentioned it.

Speaker quality much better with the GS73 thus has 4 speakers + 'woofer' instead of just 2? If the 1070 equipped laptops come with a higher capacity AC adapter (200w+), would be a good indicator that the TDP is not terribly limited on the new GPUs..

The KR MSI website says GTX 1070 "with desktop level performance" which I guess is more confirmation it really will have a full-TDP 1070?

I think what @GenTechPC ment is, that it will be available by mid April so we'll know everthing about it... :)

Yea, me too... End of January -> mid February -> beginning of March -> end of March -> mid April... I hope there won't be a sad 1st April when MSI tells us: "Hey, you really think we would make such a laptop? Happy April fools day..." :p I'm about to pull the triger on the GS63VR KabyLake 1060 model (I'm tired of waiting - 3 months.. Wow). I think MSI is waiting for me to do so with their 1070 model... :D Or the GE62MVR, damn I don't know.

Maybe... I think they're still waiting for nVidia and their "low power" 1070, I don't think they're doing alternations to the graphics card/power management themselves.

It's unusual for an announced computer to be so delayed.

Whenever I have seen that in the past the device often isn't released, or a newer model to match a new series is released instead - sometimes delaying further.

MSI is loosing too much of the sell-able life of the laptop with such a long delay so they might decide to cut and run, waiting for another turn of hardware.

Or, it could release at the end of May

I think even MSI didn't totally account for the sheer difficulty of putting a 1070 (even a TDP crippled one) into such a thin chassis. The GS63VR is only 17.7mm thick, and even the GS73VR only 19(ish)mm thick.

    Sure thing. :)

Edit: I've had the GS63VR 7RF for a few hours now. No problems with it so far (no major ones). The only thing that troubles me is the sound of those fans, I don't remember them to be so high pitched from 6RF, interesting. And pretty annoying. Still not decided if I wanna try the GE62MVR (1070 is really tempting... Especially for exactly the same money).

Edit: That or the Aorus X5 after having a chat with the ever-helpful @Galm (ps thanks!)

New guy here who stumbled across this thread today at work. I've been in the market for a gaming laptop for a long time (coming up on a year now). I bought the GS63VR a while back and absolutely loved everything about it.... other than the speakers. They were so bad I ended up returning the laptop. I almost thought I had gotten a defective unit with how bad the speakers were but apparently that is the norm for this model. They were worse than the speakers on my cell phone at the time (and it wasn't even particularly close).

Does anyone know if this rumored new version of the GS63VR will have a new or different speaker? I loved how sleek and powerful the laptop was and haven't decided on a replacement yet so if the speakers were improved even just from 'the worst speakers I have ever heard in my entire life' to 'acceptable' I would probably pull the trigger in a heartbeat. The 1070 would just be icing on the cake. I really, really hope they've went with a different speaker manufacturer or at least a different model of speakers though I know it's highly unlikely. Here's hoping anyway.

I've the KabyLake model and the speakers went from the box "absolutely unusable" (Skylake model) to "quite ok" (Kabylake model). Actually they're much better than the Skylake model (at least than my defective Skylake model). There's no bass, obviously, but they're usable.

Hey, i'm also new here. In Germany, (I'm from Germany) there are two "official" resellers listing the GS73VR 7RG 008DE. The "008DE" is the German Version with the 1080p 120Hz display. I already ordered it about 1 week ago, with a delivery time of 10-11 days. Yesterday I went to the reseller to buy a logitech mouse and ask them if the delivery time is still right. They said that MSI have trouble with the delivery because this model is so wanted..
They said that they need another 2 weeks to get the order. I already wrote MSI and ask them for a delivery date and if there is any difference between the 7RG and the 7RF model except for the GTX 1070.
the only thing they said was:

"We cannot give you the exact delivery date. We work on the base of an indirect sales model and cannot predict what "distri"? your dealer has purchased."

And they sent me this data sheet for the 7RG 008DE (in German :p)
No noticeable different, except for the GTX 1070:

    http://bit.ly/GS73VR_7RG-008DE_Stealth_Pro_0017B3-008

These are my struggles, hope they deliver asap. Don't want to wait another 3 weeks after that 15.04.17.

It might not actually be better speakers, but just fixing the driver/software issue that others have experienced out of the box, that I have read in some reviews. Speaker crackle. Look up 'speaker' on Amazon reviews for the Skylake version. Who knows.
I am curious how much better the GS73VR (the 17" version) is, with it's 4x speakers + supposed woofer, versus just the 2 in the GS63VR.
GE62MVR vs GS, trying to find the differences. GE is 2 fans vs 3 in the GS. GE weighs more (15"; 2.3 vs 1.8kg, 17; 2.9, 2.43kg)
GS's low weight is amazing. Won't necessarily wait for the 1070 version. 1060 Kaby lake ought to work out fine as a main machine for 5+ years with external graphics.

Skylake and Kaby Lake version are virtually the same. The Skylake models has speakers issues with combinations of BIOS, EC, Audio Drivers and Nahimic softwares and was fixed.

Subscribed. I literally had one of the 1060 4k in my cart and was about to order, but I was hesitant. Glad I stumbled upon this. I will simply wait a few weeks, hopefully this launches soon.

Any idea on the US release date? If it is this month then count me in the waitlist but if not, i might just go for an aw15 with a 1070 in it. Thanks!
