I'm not 100% but usually when the laptops start cropping up on companies that do drop shipments of laptops it tends to show up within a couple of weeks. It's model number is in fact starting to show up and yes there is only a 4K version at the moment.

I doubt we'd see Volta until late Q1 early Q2 of next year, I'm sure there's some room for additional releases.

Just received this! That's directly from MSI.

Xoticpc peeps can hopefully confirm an actual date when product will be available but there we go.

We're hoping to get confirmation on the new mode lineups (plural because it looks like MSI isn't the only one doing this) soon but are waiting on final word from distributors and manufacturers on what's actually being released and what we'll end up carrying. I'd say don't make plans until models start showing up on websites for pre-order because the situation is pretty fluid right now (even up to the first Pascal releases, manufacturers sometimes pull a model with no warning or explanation).

Like I mentioned, a lot of that isn't finalized and decisions about releases are still being made. With the way things have been going pretty much across the board I would say don't believe anything until machines start shipping.

Probably around 2 grand i'd guess or close to it for a 1070 MSI GS. $2099 i'd guess for the 17" 4K 512GB SSD 32GB RAM 1070 7700HQ one. .. and keep it for 5+ years, it'll be a long time before it's slow with external graphics hah.

2099 seems a little low for 32GB of RAM and a 512gb SSD (plus 1TB HDD they usually do).

If any model was $2099 with a 4k screen, I'd expect it to only have 16GB of RAM and a 256+1TB setup, and even then, I think 2099 is very optimistic.

    Your right. This one is $1949 on Amazon for a 7700HQ 1060 32GB 17" 1080P/120HZ 512GB+1TB. I mistakenly thought it was 4K. https://www.amazon.com/GS73VR-Stealth-i7-7700HQ-Computer-Generation/dp/B06XH8SXH3/ref=cm_rdp_product ..
XoticPC with those specs with 4K/60HZ and 2TB mechanical drive (little difference in drive cost) is a tad over $2400. Then add on the 1070 cost if it ever becomes available. http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gs73vr-stealth-pro-4k-223.html?startcustomization=1
Can't put a cost on happiness though.

I saw an Australia website wrote 3rd May.

That gigabyte laptop you mentioned don't support thunderbolt, I think I will go for 1060 version gs63vr unless there is better option. Been waiting since January :(

Just for frame of reference, I got the GS73* with 1060, 120hz screen, and 7700 and it is amazing. Sound is definitely lacking but has some interesting aspects to it. Overall I'm enjoying it. It runs things better than my GT62 with a 1070 did! But I think that laptop was messed up.

I'm glad I didn't wait for the 1070 GS73 cuz I'm sure it would be about $1000 CDN more

Thought the sound in the GT60-3 / GT70-3 series of full size gaming laptops had great speakers? Certainly better than the GS line. I have not heard in person. How is the audio lacking in the GT73? Maybe you have a driver issue.

Hmm, who cares then if it's a 1070'm' , just get the 1060. Though I do welcome more efficient GPUs to the industry as a whole to lessen carbon footprint. Though more efficient not really, as it just effectively downclocked... that one could do will their full-versioned GPU anyway. Maybe more than that, otherwise Nvidia wouldn't need time to design these 'MaxQ' versions.

Just to undestand this, you saying the gs73vr that has a GTX1060 is standard desktop GPU, while the version with the GTX1070 is a downclocked desktop GPU?

yes Abula, as rumors are indicating and which probably is the reason for the delays is that nvidia are releasing new "mobile" versions. of their 1080/1070/1060 cards.

So far today the 10xx cards are basically same for laptop/desktop. But already Acer has announced a laptop with a "1080-Q" that is around 1070 in terms of performance but slightly cooler. So the 1070 that the GS series will be equipped with is likely to be the "1070-Q" although no official word about this has been released.

It is all speculation and rumors though!

edit: @Swissbaboon iCheck out the gigabyte aero 15 or the barebone msi gs63vr (Evoc 1060-s)
forum user iunlock has a thread going in the gigabyte forums where he is checking out the system. The Aero 15 is alot narrower than the GS63. Meaning basically no bezels on the side of the monitor. Looks hot AF tbh

Not at all. It has pretty decent OC potential as well. It is clocked at full 1070 (laptop) speed. @DukeCLR @specialist7

@Abula Honestly the only reason to go for a gs63/gs73 instead of the GT version is the portability. If you want a smaller form factor. Based on reviews and users on this forum GT73 is better in every other aspect.

I'm not the one you asked, but I have one request, and it pertains to something I posted about here.

Put short, the GS series' touchpad is an Elan SmartPad, and it comes with an Elan driver with its own gesture suite. The touchpad itself is actually pretty precise, and gestures like two-finger scrolling work, but they're not super smooth and can behave differently depending on the application. A few years ago, Windows introduced the Precision Touchpad spec that provides standard, high-quality gestures for touchpads that support them. It turns out that there's a driver that lets the GS63VR's SmartPad function as a Precision Touchpad, and for the most part it works extremely well and is a pleasure to use. There is one breaking issue where after a few days of uptime, gestures and taps will stop working until the computer is restarted. I'm sure that given official attention by MSI, it could be resolved.

I recommend everyone with a GS*3VR try this driver out. Try scrolling in the Start menu, Settings, and zooming in Edge. It's miles better than Elan's custom gesture suite.

Currently, Windows updates reset the custom driver back to the factory ELAN one, so if there's any way MSI could officially provide a PTP driver, it'd be much appreciated. If not, that's my suggestion for future versions.

    This is the one: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Ot...WDF-Driver-161132-for-Windows-10-64-bit.shtml

Just gave the newest version from MSI (15.13.2.2) a try. It seems to be just like the one that comes with the laptop. Gestures and scrolling are decent but not great, there's not much OS integration, and the software looks dated.

These guys display they have 20 units ready for delivery within 2 days. It shows the GPU as standard 1070, not a word about MaxQ...

It might be true and we'll see it coming to some other countries soon... Let's dream!!!

What do you mean with full 1070 laptop speed? 1443-1650mhz ?

No crashing or reboot while gaming with 1911mhz?
    Whats your base clock? 1443-1650mhz?

    Thank you for the reply,

    You bought your laptop when?
Do you have any reboot/crash problems when playing games with the stock vbios?

The G73VR thread is big, it will be hard to find your graphs.

I bought mine when it first came out, I looked but could find the graphs posted so I just pulled it out and checked. Here is a current shot of GPUz and a BF1 session graph from way back. I set my games with a FPS cap to avoid input lag. I also turn down the settings for stable play.

I like mine as well, but im tired and sad because of my reboot/crash problem, while playing games.
MSI fixed the issue with vbios 1443mhz, not a real solution.

Theres feedback of people, trying 2 or more new laptops, all with same problem.
And people who tried a new laptop, and it worked fine.

    It's a lottery.

.. If the laptop is still in warranty, and it is crashing with continuous gaming or otherwise number crunching of all cores, you should return it.

The problem is fixed no more crashes, but the gpu is limited in power among other things with the vbios msi installed on my laptop.

    @DukeCLR

    Hey man, how are you?

Please tell me your l aptop serial number,

And please, with default cpu and gpu clocks, no OC or shift mode on:

    - Run 3D Mark Ice Storm 5 times, and tell me if it runs ok

    - Play this games more then one hour:
    - Wolfenstein Old Blood and New Order or other low-level stress game with max settings

Do this when you have free time, no rush, i can wait.

    Thank you very much!

From what I've been reading, the mobile versions of the 10 series GPU's aren't exactly the same as the desktop but they are WAY closer than in previous generations

However, the 1070 that they'll use in the GS73 will most likely be paired down even further
