    Sounds totally normal.

If the 93c bothers you, just give a few minutes of cool off between games, but as long as it is not ever getting into the high 90's (97+) and staying there you have nothing to worry about.

This is purely subjective, While temperatures at the low 90's wont underclock the machine to make it cool, in my opinion it is not something to treat lightly, specially if the machine ran cooler before. It might get worse and at some point just burn the videocard. I suggest changing thermal paste if you know how to... if you don't, you can always learn; watch some videos on youtube that show how to do it. That's what I did...

A cooler will indeed improve the temperatures (and based on my experience, greatly improve surface temps), but I don't think that is a good solution... the notebook should perform nicely without any need of accesories.

If you can run the first one well, there won't be any difference in performance. The games are mostly the same.

just an update to my missing key problem. keys to some dell laptops such as the keys found here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150383558202 fit the original keyboard. the B style normal keys listed here on ebay fit the keyboard fine and look almost the exact same. they sit a shade lower but unless you previously know to look for it you really cant tell, and it sits lower due to the key design, not the retainer so if you still have the original key and just broke the original retainer you can use this one and itll look and feel the exact same. saved me 57 dollars, figured id share the info.

I am running a P9700 and 1680x1050. Running NWN2 pegs one core running native on high. Not sure if that impacts anyone's CPU choice...

No problems with temps though. (yay for 25watt?)

Thats on Vista32 Home Prem if youre wondering (my win7 comes today)

    Hello all,

I've got (as you may guess...) a 1651, and it currently has the 6-cell battery and a Q9000 (core2 quad, 45W). I'm interested in swapping that for a P9700 (core2 duo, 28W) in the interest of longer battery life.

Is this a good idea? Will it net me considerable run-time? I'm going to pick up a 9-cell soon.

    Thanks!

How much battery life can I expect from a Q9000 on a 6 or 9 cell?

I get close to 1.5 hours playing basic 3d games at native resolution on the 6 cell. YMMV based on HDD, graphics settings etc. Not sure if it is worth the investment, but you would be getting a higher clock speed for single threaded applications...

    Windows experience index (Win7-32)
    CPU 4.4
    RAM 5.4
    Aero 5.9
    Gaming 5.9
    HDD 5.9

According to M$, this CPU is the weakest link. (WEI calculated without overclocking, my cheap memory causes blue screen on push-button OC).

    Config:
RKC 1651-ID2, mirror polished heatsinks for both CPU (P9700) and GPU (both installed by RKC). 1680x1050 Native
    Ram: Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) 1066 (PC3 8500) (Self Install)
HDD: Seagate Momentus 7200.3 ST9320421AS 320GB 7200 RPM (Self Install)

There's Avadirect, RK Computers, Frosty Computers, and a few more but BtoTech is the cheapest.

Just bought my 1651 barebones a few days ago! Order is still "Pending" though, and they havent charged me for it yet, any clues on how long that'll take? I AM EAGER! Also, Anyone know if these things come with a glossy or matter screen? It looks matte from the pictures. What about the "Turbo" button that overclocks my cpu? Does that come stock or will i have to do some updating? I wanna turn a p8400 into a p8800!

So I'm still unsure about the turbo key.I realize that I could call the help line but has anyone set up the turbo button yet? If so could you make a small guide on how to get it to work? thanks in advance! ;). Also is there a side scroll on the touchpad? if so how would I set that up as well?

Duh...my mind doesn't seem to be functioning correctly today.

We can get whatever MSI parts are needed, depending on availability, and compatibility.

Just email me (click on my email address in my signature) with your request, including what model you have, and I will be happy to help.

Hello there, sorry for the random post, but unfortunately my Gx620 or the 1651 died today, I'm almost positive it was due to overheating issues with the graphics card.

As of now, my system boots up but shuts down suddenly before reaching the log-in menu while the fan shrieks just before it shuts off.

More importantly, I have some personal data I would really like to save, I've searched through the thread about changing the hard drive and the earlier pages suggest the process to be "rather simple," so I tried opening the hard drive's case, failed to remove the "bracket," and it wouldn't slide out. Now my system loads but cannot find the hard drive to boot.

If anyone could assist me in saving my priceless data, I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S I don't have much experience with hard drives, but have opened a few computers from time to time to change the basics. If I'm able to extract the harddrive, I believe it can be placed on a dock and connected to another computer where my data can be salvage. Correct me if I'm wrong...I dearly hope I'm not.

When you take out the rubber bumper out and slide the drive out it will be held down by the force of the magnet that is underneath.
you have to but some force to pull the drive out from the force of the magnet.

Yeah, you gotta put a lil elbow grease into it to get it out. From there you can either stick it into another laptop to get the data out of it or stick it into an enclosure and link it to a desktop via esata cable.

I never use the word "mobility" when discussing laptop ati cards. It's not my fault ati doesn't simply use the letter "m" like nvidia does :D

Btw, the msi gx733 has the 4670. It uses the same mxm format as the 9600m gt so it should work in the gx620/gx720.

Also, how much will it be for the ati 4850 card? I am seriously considering buying it. I am guessing you wouldn't have access to the 1gb version found in the gt729?
