alektoro is correct, the benchmarks posted by both PowerNotebooks.com and Xoticpc were run at 1280x800

What bios and firmware are you running? -
Run it in high performance mode and make sure it's plugged in.
-
Here you go this is about 2 hours of running 3DMARK06 and playing Prototype
-
thanks
IKAS V
what is ur spex btw.
how's the heat on ur right hand side?
i'm about to buy this baby soon if the heat is in an accaptable range. -
1280x800 screen res
T9900 CPU
4 GB of RAM
250 GB HD
Windows XP
3DMARK06 score 11300
I'm guessing you mean the right side of the touchpad.
During web surfing and general low demanding work heat is not a issue but during gaming (like when I was running those temps and benchmarks ) it does get a little warm, nothing that would have me worried and is very managable.
If you mean the airflow vent on the right side it does get warm but that's what it's for
and is just doing it's job.
If I had do buy this laptop again I would do it in a heartbeat.
Great performance, great build quality all in a thin and lite package, what else can you ask for. -
POST photos of that model for Christ Sake ! When there are owners of that model - post some photos of it placed on your desk. (dull)
Edit: Don't tell me that someone somewhere has posted or made a review - did not find any. Even the guys from XoticPC where "unable" to provide me realtime taken pictures - they all have some on their websites. Would you buy on-line a car which pictures are hand made sketches and are so far away from the reality ? Guess not... -
Demanding, arent we?? Someone will be doing a full review soon with pictures and benchmarks, battery lafe, screen, and much more.. Give it some time..
-
Could someone tell how is the the battery life under normal usage with Quad processor and 6-cell battery.
TIA -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
You should get about 2.5 to 3 hours using ECO battery saver settings.
-

I demand someone give me this laptop for free!
I couldn't live with only 1280 x 800 rez -
Thank you, 3 hours would be nice. -
Go FPS with 1280 x 800 though..

With a Quad Core CPU (45W) and a 6 cell battery you will max out at about 1.8-2.4hrs in MSI ECO Turbo Battery Mode with a Vista O/S. Watching a movie would give you about 1.8hrs max with the Quad Core, internet browsing-word processing, your max would be 2.4hrs with the Quad Core.
If your going to go with the Quad Core CPU the 9 cell battery would be your best choice because of the higher CPU power consumption. The latest MS-1651 ID2 WSXGA+ that is available now you have the choice to purchase with either a 6 cell or 9 cell as the default battery. Previous versions were packaged with the 6 cell by default from the manufacture.
We had performed some battery runtime comparisons with the Dual Core CPU's and a 9 cell, they are posted here:

No camera dude!
Broke the other day trying to take pictures of the laptop
All I have to say it's thin, lite and looks great.
RKcomputers have some great pictures of it on there site.
The 1280x800 screen rez is a good match for this laptop and looks great, they do have a higher screen rez option of 1680x1050. -
@ IKAS_V : Thaaat was the reason for not answering my request
Hoping someone will make a review or something because the photos taken from random seller of this model are crap...
RK, Xotic, Power... make a review of that model d*** it. It's gonna be a best seller and it's more attractive even from ASUS G51 looking at performance rates...

Thanks for info. Yeah, I wish those were the numbers for Quad and 6-cell
But, 9-cell will be sticking out, right? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Right, the 9 cell will stick out about 3/4"...but the extra battery life is worth it!

Yes but not much, if you look on our site under the "notebook photos" and MSI, GT627 model you will see a picture of the notebook and the 9 cell battery installed. The GT627 is the same chassis and battery. -
I've had one with at P8700 for a little over a month now, and I love it... on turbo battery mode and running some battery software that turns off "fancy" effects in Vista/7 I've been getting up to 2:45 on battery just working on the internet and running office software... less when running a dvd of course
-
That's with the 6-cell right? Does anyone now if there are wsxga+ LED LCD panels?
-
Nope, the WSXGA is described as a super glare TFT display.
Whatever that means. -
Yeah, it's a 6-cell
-
Has anyone found the touchpad utility for this laptop? I'd really like the right side of the touchpad to scroll like it does on most other laptops.
I tried the synaptics generic one, but that didn't seem to do the trick. -

I am seriously considering getting this laptop.... does anyone know the pll for this? or is it the same as the gx720?
-

The drivers are on our website. Just drill down under the Support tab. -

Do these have the option of using internal TV tuners?
-

Yes, you can use the second slot for turbo memory or an internal TV tuner. -

This driver will work with the 1651 Touchpad:

I see the pictures - thanks. I really dislike the battery sticking out - it is 6-cell for me.

I really want to buy the barebone from rk, but they don't accept paypal!
and frosty's are much more expensive with the 9 cell compared to rk. -
install paypal plugin on your PC then goto rkcomputers and buy your barebone. when you get to the payment page, paypal plugin will generate a one time use CC# for you. I had to do the same when I bought my parts from Amazon and other online stores that dont accept paypal.

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and just got an MSI 1651 ID2. It's a great computer, but I have some issues with it (wasn't able to spec. it out myself):
1) Processor is Q9000, which is 45 watt, and battery is 6-cell. You guys know a good way to switch the Q9000 for a P9700? Post here? In the official GT628 thread? Elsewhere? Ebay? I'm just not up on what the best way to buy and sell slightly used processors is. Do people trade these things? Q9000 cost is about the same as P9700.
2) I'd also like a 9-cell battery, same situation but I think those probably aren't bought and sold used. A good retailer online?
3) Screen is WXGA glossy. I ordered an WSXGA+ matte one to replace it, will be putting it in soon. Should/can I sell my WXGA (brand new, no dead pixels), and if so where?
4) HD is 500 GB @ 5400 RPM, I wanted 7200. Is there an appreciable difference? Will the faster speed affect battery life all that much?
I suppose overall my primary concern is upping battery life. Q9000 certainly isn't helping, but do they throttle? It's nominally 45W. Can I expect, with throttling, the same batt. life out of Q9000 as P9700? Programs to do this? I run XP and Ubuntu/Kubuntu.
Thanks to you all, specs to follow:
Display: 15.4" WXGA Glossy w/nVIDIA GeForce GTS 160M w/1GB GDDR3
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q9000 2GHz x 4 Processor w/6MB L2 Cache (45W), 1066MHz FSB
System Memory: 4GB (2 SODIMMs) DDR3/1066 Memory
Hard Drive: 500GB 5400 RPM
Battery: Li-ion (6-Cell)
Operating Systems: XP and Linux (Kubuntu and Ubuntu) -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
why oh why didn't know this sooner..... -
Thanks, working great now. The deactivation of the touchpad while typing is genius, can't believe windows doesn't support stuff like that out of the box.
Too bad synaptics has that patent on drag to scroll on the side
-
RKComputer has 9-cells, model 957-14XXXP-107 under accessories.
I believe Provantage has them on their site too, as a special order. -
The only problem with getting the 9-cell battery is that it stick's out the back a bit and is not flush to the chassis like the 6-cell.
If you don't mind it sticking out the back a little( I do) then 9-cell is the way to go. -
Yeah I don't mind if it sticks out.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Right, most people don't mind it either since you never see it when you are using it, and they prefer that additional battery time.
-
Hi i just bought the force 3551 and am trying to install windows 7 on it. i get to the select the driver to be installed screen and dont know what to do. anyone else have any issues with installing windows 7 on this? what driver is it looking for?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
For help, call their 24/7 tech support.
-
i did.. the guy told me my disc was broken... was no help at all considering im installing it from a flashdrive and told him that... lol
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Just tell Windows7 to search the internet for the driver. All of the drivers except the Touchpad and video card should be native to W7. The Touchpad drivers can be downloaded from virtually any MSI reseller's website, and the video card drivers can be downloaded from the nVIDIA website.
What drivers do you have installed so far?
If the W7 install has not yet finished just cancel for that driver and then when the install is finished go into your device manager to see what drivers are missing. -
it wont let me finsih the installer, right after i chose the country and timezone or whatever, i get the message (on the 2nd screen into the installer now) a required cd/dvd drive device is missing...
ive tried every driver i can find. from google it sounds like its having trouble with the sata ports? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
I would try re-seating the optical drive. It is telling you that it can't find it, which usually means it is not seated properly.
-
hi im having trouble installing the drivers for the graphics card.. im starting to think it may be malfunctioning. ive downloaded both the 186.03 driver and the 186.81 and neither seem to work. when i run the install, it installs the HD audio drivers, but thats it. any advice? im pretty much stumped and about to send the computer back if i dont figure this out soon..
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Where did you buy it?
-
xotic pcs. its the force 3551
-
Does it support the 12.5mm drives? The hard drive caddy looks like it could support taller hard drive with a little of bending.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Don't shoot the messenger, but it will not accept 12.5mm drives.
