    Ordered my GT72 Dominator Pro - 010! Super pumped about it. It's going to be replacing my 13" macbook pro 2010, quite the upgrade.
    I also do have a desktop with a nvidia gpu, I use geforce experience to update the drivers. For the GT72 do I use geforce experience to update drivers or should I only download drivers from MSI's website?

    The ones directly from MSI have been fully tested to work on this model, but most of the time the Nvidia direct ones will too. You can try them both and run benchmarks to see which perform better.

    I see you have the last gen model with the Intel 7260 AC, how does the new Killer N 1525 AC compared to that? I heard the 7260 got lots of range and connection issues from Intel drivers. Thanks

    Actually the Intel 7260 has been a good card for me, connecting almost instantaneously, with good range throughout my home. I think the choice of wireless router is equally important to a solid wireless network, and the Netgear R6300-AC has worked well with all of my wireless devices. I have noticed the Killer 1525 is a little slower to connect, but I have not updated to the latest driver yet. Also, like hardware drivers, it's a good idea to keep the router's FW updated as well.

    Same here, don't have any issues with 7260, which works very nicely when compared to other brands.

    After some careful consideration, I've decided to HOLD my BREATH for the next gen Maxwell graphics before buying a laptop.

    Darkinstar, are you going to be sad, if a new next-gen Maxwell GT72 is released, much sooner than you think? If so, you might want to go ahead and buy a box of Kleenex...... and set them right there, beside your Kepler GT72. I think you will be needing them soon.

    I have no laptop at the moment. I'm on a long work assignment away from home. I guess I'll squeak by with my Nexus 7 for 6 months..... :cry:

    I find that not having a full gaming system for a while is kind of liberating.... (that's my other excuse for waiting)

    yeah enjoy life. meet a lady and do bad things to her with her consent. Have a 20min jog everyday to wash the stress away. Try new kinds of soaps; new scents and textures. Do more bad things to more ladies. With their consent of course. For laughs go and crash a random business convention and introduce yourself as the CEO of some made up company during refreshments, if they ask for a business card hold your nexus 7 up and excuse yourself because you "have to take this call". Also give compliments to random ladies in public without stopping for a chat, keeping a sense of mystery. Explore new places in your geography every weekend. Try out the tons of new flavors of tea invading the market. Been wondering about changing your diet? Now is the time to read about what might best suits you. Experiment with new haircuts.

    Do half of that and gaming becomes your least priority.

    how much of a difference in performance are we talking about with this Maxwell instead of Kepler? Right now this is the best laptop I ever owned and I think I'm pretty happy with it.

    So I figure I would give a quick update on my GT72.

    So far I'm very impress with my purchase (Well thanks to my company since it's a work computer). I have no complains right now, haven't had any issues unlike my Asus G750. The only think I feel that this laptop lacks is the monitor, it looks good, but I think they could of done better. Had to wait 4 weeks for this bad boy, but I think I made the right decision. Thanks =$tR|k3r=- and others for taking your time to help me with all my question and concerns!

    Estimates vary of course, but it is suggested a 15 to 20% increase in performance, and with the shrunken 20nm process, as much as 30% more energy efficient. The 2nd-gen Maxwell should be FASTER..... COOLER...... with more stable headroom for overclocking, and less prone to throttling issues. Even if performance increases are marginal, the improvement in efficiency will be huge, and temps should be significantly reduced. Stay tuned for more unboxing photos and benchmarks...... SOON!

    I have become an engineering sample from MSI to test it in more detail for the German MSI Forum. Since I'll be met with a problem ... I can not get a newer Nvidia driver installed, the MSI is 333.11 the only driver that works. Now I do not know if it's the ES status of the device, or whether it is "normal".

    The Nvidia Setup finds appropriate hardware and wants to install the graphics driver, then flickers briefly the image, the resolution changes and the Nvidia setup aborts with an error. A fresh Windows installation has not helped because

    I've already tried. Neither the current 340.42 or the newer 340.72 work, not even with the modded inf. also install directly through the device manager is unsuccessful.

    VEN_10DE&DEV_1199&SUBSYS_111A1462&REV_A1\4&19BBEA9C&0&0008 i think, this is the hardware ID

    where in the modifed inf can i find the hardware IDs ? i see, that the laptopvideo2go inf has a nvic.inf, the original 333.11 driver from msi has a NVMI.inf

    This is from the MSI inf:

    NVIDIA_DEV.1199.10FD.1462 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.1199.1103.1462 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M"
    NVIDIA_DEV.1199.1106.1462 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.1199.1110.1462 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M "

    and this is from the modified inf:

    NVIDIA_DEV.1199 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M"

    Yes, that's it. That MSI inf seems to be from the working driver 333.11? Your subsys 111A doesn't match those 870M:s in the Nvidia infs and is totally unknown when googling. The modified inf does ignore the subsys info totally so it should work - but most probably your example needs some special tweak in the inf to work. The inf for MSI cards is NVMI or NVMIi.inf. Nvic.inf is for icafe (internet cafe) drivers but it should cover a vast range of hardware. A look at MSI 333.11 inf revealed that your card is really there and probably has some settings that aren't available in the modified inf.

    1st one - Bad charging mechanics, laptop would crash after a couple of minutes, my retailer swap it out for a new one
    2nd one - bad power supply, try to get Asus to overnight me one (I was going to pay for shipping to send old one back and to receive new one because I had to work from the hospital due to the birth of my son), Asus didn't do squat for me, so retailer send me another new laptop
    3rd one - Video card die after 2 months of use, Try everything in software related to fix it, but nothing work. Asus RMA dept is a joke, My retailer took the laptop back and I decided to tell Asus to suck it, and got the MSI GT72

    Well, yeah I will be sad :( but I have lived with my 2010 Macbook Pro 13" for 4 years and have been unable to do anything I want on it so I can't wait any longer. It overheats even if I start watching YouTube, lol. I did fix that though by opening it and cleaning the dust though :p

    However the 880M will do good for the next 2 years and then I plan to sell the laptop or give it to my parents and buy a new GT72 or whatever cool laptop.

    I also plan to upgrade my desktop where I do the majority of my gaming to Maxwell so that I don't lose out on the next-gen fun.

    Seems so except if someone would try to make a fixed inf for your hardware. 3DMark is lagging in the drivers as Nvidia has changed something in the driver structure and Futuremark System Info doesn't recognize the hardware - for instance 340.76 doesn't work with 3DMark. You could write to Futuremark forums.

    Hi everyone,

    I just ordered the GT72-2PE16H11BW with one mSATA-SSD. Is there room for three more m.2 SATA or do I have to order the Model with SuperRaid 3?

    Meh, I saw this info on several different websites on 28 Aug, and much of the information is still speculative. Things like card designations won't be truly known until NVidia make an official announcement..... but I have been hinting for months now, that a next-gen Maxwell GT72 is coming...... and SOON.

    This would depend on whether or not your GT72 Dominator model, comes equipped with an mSATA adapter, supporting multiple mSATA drives. I would contact a local 'custom building' MSI reseller, and ask them specifically. SuperRAID 3 will require a total of 4 mSATA SSD's, and I do not believe an MSI mSATA adapter exist for this. I think most likely, you are better purchasing a Dominator Pro model, wherein the SATA 3 adapter supports 4x M.2 SSD's.

    Ok, I just saw that the super raid is realized through an adapter. Could you use the SSDs seperately, not in raid Mode, and can 512GB SSDs be used for super raid3?
    Thx again ;)

    Yes, you can delete the RAID array and change RAID mode to AHCI mode then you can use each SSD independently.
    However, you will need to reload the OS from scratch unless the recovery discs happen to be working for the AHCI mode as well so make sure you create one set first before deleting the RAID array.

    Interesting that Bangladesh gets the first news.

    So it is gonna be GT72 2QE .... That price in BDT comes to around USD $3422. That seems a bit too much. How much is the current GT72 Dominator Pro-007 selling for in Bangladesh? Maybe we could do a price parity adjustment to work out the price in the US?

    As soon as parts are available I'm sure MSI would jump at the chance, they are always quick at integrating new parts since they are a top tier designer of motherboards and GPUs after all.

    You seemed worried about a delay in timing between an nvidia launch and the chip being put in the system, msi are likely to be among the first to get systems out due to what I was saying.

    It does still rely on Nvidia's timing of course.

    Huh, I am not worried. What gives you that impression? I think I have a pretty good idea of both NVidia's launch, and MSI's new next-gen GT72. Again, I am of the impression you are not quite following the discussion here. We were discussing the FB page out of Bangladesh, which supposedly list the new GT72 specifications (CPU shown doesn't exist, to my knowledge)...... but I do agree with you on one point..... MSI will certainly be one of the first to debut NVidia's new mobile graphics card.

    Can't really say, because I am wireless. I haven't actually had a need to use the audio jacks. When gaming with my Steelseries wireless H series headset, game audio is outstanding...... and for grins, I connected (via Bluetooth) with my Beat's Audio headset, and again, test MP3's were awesome.

    :)

    Is it anything special about audio drivers? Equalizer, ohm settings?

    Does the bluetooth have Aptx support??
