Does anyone have solid proof that it works on our laptop? I have not had anyone on this forum actually try installing the game to see if physx works on theirs.. -
- EC
- vBIOS
You can either download EC from MSI or use Throttlestop and download EC SVL7 here:

Yes cooling is usually a thermal paste and thermal pad related issue, so repasting and checking the pads are flat is a good place to start.

Also check nVidia control panel make sure GTX680M is selected in PhysX processor. -
new owner of a used Win 8 GT60. having issues and looking for answers...
soft touch buttons: wifi doesn't work, or more exactly, rarely. light is always on, pressing does nothing. same w/ monitor off: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. thinking driver issue/SCM issue.
bluetooth won't shut off pressing Fn+F9. again, thinking driver issue.
SCM doesn't work at all (driver?).
have had to reinstall Killer drivers twice before wifi would work. still doesn't seem stable.
had to do full restore last night: right clicking on any tile would crash system. installing all drivers/updates now.
coming from a 683DXR, so am familiar w/ MSI "quirks" but tempted to return this.
can't seem to get everything to work w/ W8.
any help w/ what drivers to install and general tips would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance. -

what should i do?
thanks in advance -
249US was shipped with Windows 8.
There are newer BIOS and firmware you can try update see if it solve the problem:

Hi Guys,
I have been reading this forum for a long time and in fact it was one of my deciding factors in buy my MSI GT70 0NE-498AU back In February so thanks. The system has been great except for the WiFi which started off by being flaky and dropping out all the time to pretty much not working at all. Since it is under warranty it's not an issue as I will send it back to get fixed up but here's my question - It currently has the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, which is OK but I would like to upgrade it and was wondering if anyone knows if it can be easily upgraded to the Killer Wireless-N 1103. I realise that the current card has two antennas and the 1103 has 3 but can it be done?
Sorry if this has been answered before.
Cheers

You can just connect two of them if you want, you can add the third if you buy one anywhere you like but at the back of the display is an obvious choice which involves taking it apart.

Whatsthepoint's picture shows good example of nice and clean professional installation, the wire and antenna goes where it suppose to be. -

On my 16F2 I actually put the third one under my panel with the wifi card, any place not surrounded by metal is fine really.
-
So finally decided to buy my GT60
(sent you an email Ken!)
Lets see how this goes. -
Hello there, I did have GentechPC install the 3rd antenna in my GT60 and I can connect at 450 Mbps. But it's all relative considering internet speeds of your provider and all the websites that run even slower.
-
I am having the same problem as mw383 but I have the GT60-403 with updated bios and EC as posted by gentechpc but I can not adjust brightness or gamma in windows 8. There seems to be no bios repository so that we can install older bios.
I should mention that I had no issues with the original 50T bios and the original EC but lost the brightness and gamma control after I installed the new bios / EC combo.
Also... I DID reset the EC ... so that is not the issue. -
-Download it from here
MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT VERSION
[16F3EMS1_T16.rar= GT60-220US, 1762EMS1_T16.rar= GT70-220US] [16F3EMS1_T17.rar= GT60-249US, 1762EMS1_T17.rar= GT70-249US]
This should fix throttling and fix the brightness issue. -
, also just realized I was in the wrong forum when I posted this! So sorry about that

Lately I have been having a crackling sound coming from my speakers and recently from the left side in my headphones. Mostly while playing World of Tanks , but other games as well. I installed a real tek High Definition audio codecs driver and so far no crackling sound. Driver ver R2.71 4/8/13. sorry no link. I'm kinda nubbish to links and what not in forums.

Interesting, it could have been your old drivers being slightly corrupt.... I'll keep that in mind if anyone has a similar issue.
-
The audio has been great so far with the GT60 and I installed the new drivers just posted... they are great...but....
I continue to have crackling issues when trying to play music via bluetooth from my iphone 5.
Anyone else play music from a bluetooth device on the GT60?
If you do and you are not having issues in windows 8 64bit do you mind sharing with me what drivers you have installed for bluetooth?
This leads me to another question.... it's not clear to me if the bluetooth hardware is artheros or intel.
Anyone know exactly what the hardware is for bluetooth in the GT60 ONE-403? -

I brought my MSI GT60 0NE-249US for repair to an MSI authorized service center . Based on their assessment, my system has a faulty motherboard that need to be replaced. After almost a month of waiting, they received the motherboard from the supplier and installed it on my unit. When i received the unit I was surprised to find out (on my BIOS setup) that they replaced it with GT60 0NC motherboard instead of GT60 0NE board. I also noticed that the fan is too noisy (even on idle) my graphic card is not detected on my system (even on bios/device manager) and Turbo mode is not functioning at all. I decided to send it back to iron out those issues i mentioned.
Is it compatible to use different motherboard other than GT60 0NE board?
Will it affect the overall system performance of my laptop?
On which GT60 model/driver should i use to update my BIOS, Firmware, etc.
Thanks! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The boards are the same, the system typically scans the GPU and assigns its model number based on the graphics card, you do still have a 680M in there right?
-
If there is no GPU detected by the motherboard, the fan spins 100% after some time of being on. Take it to your center and ask them to make sure the GPU is properly in place.
I tested with my barebone and upon removing the GPU, the fan gets loud. -
I have recently purchased the MSI GT60 0NE-403 with windows 8 installed onto. I did not enjoy windows 8 what so ever and decided on installing windows 7 which was a little more difficult than what I had expected. The hdd which had windows 8 installed was seperated into 3 partitions in a GPT format. When I formatted the partition with windows 8 on it and tried installing windows 7 it said "windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style." so I googled what to do I ended up using an elevated command prompt and using the clean all command which deleted all the partitions on the hdd and converted the hdd from GPT to MBR. This allowed me to install windows 7
Unfortunately, now I encountered a problem where the laptop is not recognising my graphics card. When I open up my device manager and look under display adapters there is two "Standard VGA Graphics Adapters" one of which have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it. When I try to install the drivers for my graphics card I get an error saying "You must install an Intel driver first." but when I try to install my Intel driver I get an error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will now exit".
Please help :/ -
Have you tried installing nVidia drivers first, then intel HD4000 ones? You can always try manual driver update with the device too, force the driver to be installed, though you would need to install the proper driver later to have the control center.
-
Yeah, whenever I try to install the nVidia divers it says I need to install an Intel driver first and then when I try to install the Intel driver I just get an error. I'm thinking that I may have to update the BIOS because when I used the clean all command one of the partitions was called BIOS_RVY or something along the lines of that and it may be what is making the graphics card not being recognised possibly?
-
MSI Global â Download Center
The installation should be straight forward and does not required anything special.
Maybe you can try download the Intel HD drivers for Windows 7 first:
MSI Global â Download Center
And then install nVidia driver for Windows 7 after:
MSI Global â Download Center -
Omg whew, thank you GenTechPC. My mistake was downloading all of the drivers, utilities etc in one go and installing them after. Must've gotten lost which installing the drivers and missed the Intel HD driver
Whew, whew, whew....for a second I thought I had broke my graphics card inside my laptop within a week of owning it!
-
Awesome, glad you got it working
Don't worry, you WILL know if you break it hahaha. Been therewith some machines.

I just had to RMA my GT60 last week.. Its been giving me issues since i got it. -

Hey all,
I'm about to snag a GT60 403, but I've got a boatload of questions so I was wondering if anyone could help me out here ^_^
1st of all, I had considered buying it off Amazon because I have a Prime subscription with them, so I'll have faster and free shipping and, should something go wrong, the past their RMA process is rather painless (had a DOA GTX 670, they mailed me a replacement in 2 days... not sure if that's what counts as RMA but it sure as hell saved me a lot of time and headaches t(ツ_/¯) Also Amazon offers SquareTrade warranty which is a far cry better than most other warranties that I've seen so far, and I will be taking this to college. Needless to say, crap happens in college :b
That being said, I still would like to customize the GT60 a bit. I remember xoticpc offering some better thermal paste and cooling pipes for a few extra $$$. (Also, sorry for so many tangent questions!, do those upgrades make much of a difference?) However, I can't seem to find concrete details about their warranties, or warranties of other vendors. Keep in mind that I'm comparing all of these warranties against SquareTrade's. OR, could I order from these sites and tack on SquareTrade externally? If anyone could clarify this that'd be awesome
Warranty and vendor quirks aside, the other main issue I want resolved is the SSD and OS. The 403 base model does not come with an SSD, and I don't really plan on paying the premium at customizing sites (assuming I'm using them). I plan on buying an 840 pro 128 gb. The thing I want to know
1) What's the best way to reinstall win7/8 onto the SSD
2) how many utilities and skeleton software will I lose if I just raw install win7/8 onto the SSD? Because I know that MSi has a few very useful pre-installed utilities.
3) if 2 is too much/too complicated to reinstall all utilities, is it possible to transfer the OS and all respective utilities to the SSD and if so,
4) how would I go about doing that?
Lastly, I've just got some general performance questions that I couldn't really find on the internet. How long is the battery life on this thing? With diff configs such as pure max power (10/10 brightness, gaming, sound system maxed, etc etc), minimalist (1/10 brightness, processor state limited to 1%, keyboard lights off) or mix (3/10 brightness, no gaming, processor state limited to 1-50%, keyboard lights on, music playing from soundsystem) or other commonly used plans. Also, how well does the laptop fare in terms of heat? I've only read reviews for the GT60 with the 670m, but the 670m is a completely different architecture.
Anyway sorry for leaving so many questions and probably sounding like a complete bambi, but if anyone could answer all of these that'd be great -
Most resellers will of course offer an upgrade in thermal paste so you shouldn't worry. When you customize a machine through a reseller, you still have warranty, plus direct support from them in case you need to use it. While warranty is still strictly MSI, resellers like GenTech will go through great lenghts to help out.
You will see how a lot of resellers post on these forums, and how helpful they are all the time. You can't beat such community support.
As for your OS questions. Installing an SSD is fairly easy, and whatever software you "loose" upon a clean install, you can recover via included dvds as well as the MSI page where you can download software utilities, drivers, bios etc. For installing, just get a fresh windows copy, which can also legally be downloaded if needed, and install it on your new SSD from boot. Afterwards, install the drivers and software your machine comes with, or download them from the page.
For battery life, for regular use with medium brightness and browsing/working with office applications, you can get well over 3 hours. Max power, gaming, sound etc, severely cuts down battery life as components draw a huge amount of power. Gaming on battery will result in less than an hour of battery life. With minimum everything, just playing music, you can get perhaps 3.5 hours or more.
Heatwise, the machine is cool. It is well design when it comes to heat management. The trade off is that it is a single fan solution, so if you push the system to the max, it will be audible due to the fan working hard, but it will not overheat. While 670m is a different architecture, it is rated at a similar TDP, so it won't behave that different. -
That being said, the issue that still itches me is the warranty. While what you've said has greatly eased my mind, MSi's warranty only lasts for 2 years and has only 1 year of accidental damage protection. While I'm sure you guys are very helpful, I don't think there's a whole lot that can be done if (gods forbid) I drop the poor thing or some roommate does something catastrophically stupid with it. So, is it possible to tack on SquareTrade externally (3 years of accidental damage protection!) if I buy, from, say, GenTech? That way I could get the best of both worlds ^_^ If you guys aren't sure, should I ask the guys over there to see if that's possible then? Anyway thanks for answering my questions! -

Hmm alright. I looked over their website some more and it looks painless enough. Though what did you mean with your last statement?
Though one thing I just noted is that, if I add on the SSD to my laptop via GenTech, then the pricing goes over $2000. Does this mean I have to choose the 500$ plan? Because that'd be really annoying to have to shell out an extra 150$ for warranty because of an SSD. -
Hi all
What is standard lcd screen on this model: MSI GT60 0NE-449XPL (this model i can buy in Poland) because i saw one review gt60 with B156HW01 V4 but it has k2000m gpu, mayby that lcd is only for this model with quadro gpu.
