So I've read over more of the forums and I've got a few questions about the EC/VBIOS post mentioned frequently. Have those been updated, or are those still the most up to date versions of those. Also, the 249 version should work with the 403 model right? And from what I understand, the EC disabled throttling and the VBIOS unlocker allows me to OC more. Since I don't really plan on doing major OCing to the 680m, then I'll only need the EC right? And that won't void any warranty right?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Flashing the EC from the MSI forums should be fine.
-
Alright. Well, if all goes well, I should be placing the order within the week or two, so any more questions I might have I'll leave them for then ^_^ Thanks for the info so far

You are welcome, and welcome aboard!

Hey all,
I was wondering, if I order the GT60-0NE, without any HDD, would i get the windows 8 key? I'm saying this because I already have 2 spare ssd's.
Also, how long does it take for me to recieve it after I've placed the order? -
Branded models have the windows key. It is up to you to install it if you want. You most likely won't have an install dvd but the key should be there under the battery.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would be surprised if someone lets you do that since it ships with a HDD.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
On branded machines the key is actually stored and hidden away in the BIOS. So even with the removal of the HDD, the key still comes with the machine and any Win 8 install disk will pick up on it as well. -
Thanks Derek.
Also, how long will it take to ship after I've placed the order? I'll be in USA for only 5 days (just to do an ATP) and I would like to pick it up then. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The time would depend on stocks and how many orders are currently being assembled, but given plenty of notice a place would probably build a system and hold it until a given date.

Standard production times are currently slated at 5-12 business days at Sager. So as long as you don't happen to select a part that is listed as "ETA xx/xx" or something you'll fall into that. For us specifically, If you choose XPC services, they'll add 4-7 business days unless otherwise specifically stated in the customization page. Then just the shipping time to your location. -
You can certainly order in advance and receive it within your time period. I have ordered devices and the like in a similar situation, which then arrived at my hotel.
Just select a place that can receive the unit, is trusted, and can keep it for more than a day to allow you enough window to pick it up. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
That works too if you can organise a drop off location, just be sure the place you order from will allow deliveries to such a place.
-
Awesome! I'll just see if I can ship it to my cousins house, I'm staying there anyways.
-

Sounds good, haven't mentioned which reseller you're considering yet, but drop me an email if it's with us and let me know which order is yours so I can help with it. -
LOL! sorry about that. I'm going with Xoticpc for sure. Will be my third laptop from you guys! HYPE!! Purchased an Asus G50V-A1 and an ASUS F8V-C1 from you guys back in 2008. Still have F8V. Working perfectly. Sold G50V to a friend, also going strong. I'm going MSI this time, 'cause I'm actually scared by the np9150. Too many issues compared to MSI gt60.

They're both great machines, but yeah most of the time MSI will be less headaches when things start acting up and you don't want to deal with a whole lot of troubleshooting. Definitely mention me in checkout, I'll help coordinate everything for you. -
Will do. I'll get in touch with you as soon as I'm done preparing for the trip to USA. Thanks!
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
No problem, look forward to hearing from you. Keep in mind with your planning, you'll need to allot time to allow the wire transfer to go through which can take 5-7 business days sometimes. So best to put the order in sooner than later, once the order is in place I can delay it internally to not ship out until we want it to.
-
MSI has lately been improving and making a strong showing. In comparison, Asus seems really tame with their current machines... It's a bit sad because they started to repopularize high end GPUs on cheaper machines with their G series.
MSI took the baton and made a huge sprint forward! -
Slightly off topic..
Alienware, Clevo and MSI are the only ones for gamers.
I am sorry, but Asus doesn't even get CLOSE, unless they step up their game with GPU's, damn -
Oh, nearly forgot that! As I recall, you guys do not accept credit cards other than from USA, right? What about paypal? If not, then I'm have to go through western Union, which is a pain in my country. Their service is just...... Gonna go with wire transfer I think.
And this just struck me, if I open the back cover to install my own ssd, would that void my warranty? I'm sure I've read that there is a certain sticker preventing from doing so. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
MSI is pretty good about looking the other way. As long as you don't break the machine while doing the upgrade the warranty will be just fine. I think that sticker rule will apply to the CPU though so be wary of that.
For payment, wire transfer will be the best. Don't encourage the use of WU though as they make it a complete pain for us to collect the payment and could delay the receipt of that. Might want to look into the possibility of sending that via an actual bank if at all possible. -
Can I get support for my MSI GT60 ONC here?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Probably, depends what you need help with, if it's paying for it then not so much

AC Adapter issue:
Sometimes when I connect my AC adapter it does not charge the battery, seems like there is a faulty connection where the adapter plugs into the rear of the laptop, has anyone experienced this? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Pretty common problem to see to have the DC input board pin break, happens when the adapter is left plugged in and moved around which could cause stress on the pin. You can buy the board separately and install it or contact MSI/your reseller and they can help you with getting it replaced.
-
Just like what Derek said, I'd suggest something like this to avoid breaking the pin:
-
The pin is solid.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Could be the cable on the AC adapter itself is faulty.
-
Is windows 7 more reliable on these GT60's vs windows 8?
Also, how long does system restore take on windows 8 -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Reliability is virtually the same. Most of the software you install onto the system will have zero issues being installed on Win 8 if it doesn't have an issue with Win 7. There may be some obscure softwares that will cause a fit, I know here at XPC we have some DJ's on staff whose software wouldn't work with Win 8 initially but has since been resolved. In the end, Win 8 is a pretty well put together OS, haven't had an issue with it yet. -
I havent had any issue from windows 8 on my gaming desktop, but this GT60 is pissing me off. I just got it back from RMA two weeks ago and now i am trying to do a system restore and its taking forever..
The last thing i did was install the Nvidia beta driver and did a reboot. Game performance was horrible, so i installed the 320.00 drivers like i had before the beta drivers and it seemed to be back to normal. It worked fine last night before i went to bed. I even played some planetside 2 to test it out and it worked like it did before. Woke up this morning and after booting up and trying to login, the screen went black and went back to the login screen.. I need to boot into safe mode and reinstall the video driver I think.. but i dont know which button i need to press to get to the safe mode section. I know its different now and i got to it just a few minutes ago, but i was pressing several F keys and dont know which one worked.. -
Odd issue. Could it be a faulty GPU?
-
Well, hopefully Msi would have noticed that.
-
To boot to Safe mode you will need to press F3 (may take several attempt) and it will boot to Windows 8 repair console, Click troubleshoot> Windows Startup Settings > Click continue and it will restart with Safe mode option.
-
Thanks, but actually all you have to do is when youre at the login screen, click the power button in the bottom left corner, hold down the shift key and click restart. Keep holding the shift key down until it restarts and its at the windows 8 repair console. works everytime.
I reinstalled the 314.22 driver and everything seemed fine, until I restarted my pc. When it came back up, it was stuck in 640 x 480. Its actually still in that mode. when I try to open the NVidia control panel, I get a error message that reads. "you are not currently using a display attached to an NVidia gpu"
This is driving me crazy.. Its like it doesn't even see the intel hd4000. -
Try installing the HD4000 drivers first, you need those before the nvidia drivers
-
Yep.. I did that few minutes after my previous post.. that got everything working.. I just wish this laptop performed better with Planetside 2..
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Time to get tweaking then
-
Look at the FAQ section for the full performance guide
-
I dont want to do anything that will void my warranty. I'd love to get better performance out of it, but I don't want to break stuff. Ive modded my gaming desktop, but i can replace the individual parts my self...
-
Is all of this still usable for my GT60-ONE? Also, is there a better place to download the files other than having to become a member of that one site and posting 5 times just to download them...??
-
You could PM me
-
Awesome, very glad that issue was resolved with driver updates. For games, I understand not wanting to break your new machine, so the best you can do is to tweak individual game settings and cfg files to make it run top notch as possible.
Game on, friend! -
I'm still waiting for someone to respond telling me they were able to get physx working on planetside 2 on our GT60 laptops?
-
Does it work with other laptops/machines?
Have you tried this? Planetside 2 official PhysX support incoming, can be enabled now with simple tweak | News | PC Gamer -
It works on other laptops, but I don't know if it works on GT60 laptops though.
On my gaming desktop Physx can be enabled in-game. You don't have to edit the file anymore, it doesn't work even if I edit the ini file.
Woo Hoo. Im post number 1000 btw.
