    Just wondering,
Anyone remember how long it took for major stores to start carrying the stock version of the gt60 0NC?
I live in canada and am planning on going to the US in a few months and was hoping to pick this up from Bestbuy.

I had the same question. I called MSI today and the sales manager told me that Bestbuy.com should have it in the weekend but no later than Monday. They won't sell it in stores btw.

    Hello all,

I'm doing all I can to resist the urge to buy this laptop, though I might just cave... I'm reading reviews and watching youtubes (thanks Gentech!) and I noticed this machine has two keys for "|\", one below the backspace, and one next to the spacebar. Why is this?

Also, I noticed that an option for the laptop is a wireless card with a third antenna... where does it go? Does it stick out the back like a tail or is it hidden somewhere within the frame?

    Thanks in advance!

I believe it's hidden in the frame, I don't think MSI laptops have antennas sticking out the back. And don't worry if you cave in, it's an amazing laptop!!!

Just got the laptop and typing on it now! So far after a couple hours of regular use there are no keyboard issues at all. Speakers sound amazing, but not as loud as I thought they would be. But who am I kidding it's a laptop lol it's louder than any other laptop I've heard before. Screen is very clear. Be sure to turn on the wifi on the panel before trying to access the internet haha I spent 20 minutes trying to diagnose what was wrong with my wireless connections. The CyberLink YouCam isn't detecting my cam though, so I'll have to try and figure that out.

Can't wait to try out Battlefield 3, Metro 2033, Crysis 2, and others!

And does anyone know if actually taking off the back panel to place an SSD in would actually void the warranty? I'm also making that SSD my main drive so what would be better of these two choices: 1) Copying all of the files over and then deleting them on the harddrive or 2) Completely reinstalling windows 7 and all of the drives and programs?

Same problem..... like the wireless, you need to turn on the webcam. (Fn + F6)

Also check the webcam lens, and removed the thin protective film of plastic.

After weeks of deliberation, I've chosen the MSI GT60-0ne over the Sager np9150. Though professional reviews suggest that the Sager has decent sound quality and that the MSI's speakers aren't particularly spectacular, and I didn't notice any jarring distortions, I'll take the words of those complaining on the Clevo and Sager forum.

    1. Has anyone had problems with the brightness of display or viewing angles, especially in outside use?
    2. What about keyboard ghosting and the responsiveness of input devices?
    3 Audio quality?
    4. Most importantly, are there any resellers that dispense with some of the MSI's bling? I'm going to college and don't want attention.

    1. I'm using my laptop outside right now. As long as you don't have the sun directly behind you, everything is completely visible and clear with a minor haze. Viewing angles are also very excellent on the stock screen. Horizontally it barely loses any color, even viewing from the side. And only extreme vertical angles make the screen wash out.

    2. I have no keyboard problems so far at all. I actually really like the feel of it. If you are a really light typer, you might have some problems with pressing down for it to register but other than that it's great.

    3. Audio quality is spectacular for a laptop. Especially with games. Music is very crisp and detailed. I haven't even tried out the THX program yet either.

    4. The retailers that do add customized looks usually only really add more bling. But I've seen many $300 laptops that look WAY more blingy than this system. If the keyboard lighting is one of your issues about gaining attention you can turn it off with two presses of a button.

Here is another benchmark for you guys with some temps. Did the Heaven Benchmark with all settings on high except AA. This was actually the second test, forgot to benchmark the first time. So temps should have been more realistic to gaming. This was without turbofan. Anyways, some pics.

Same here, still can't believe xoticpc hasn't received my money wire yet, growing impatient. Put weeks of thought into this order, guess I can wait a couple more for the actual product.

They'll offer the whole "ship to store" thing though won't they?

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to Best buy in the US.

    Also another question,

I could just buy a bigfoot 1103 or 1202 and install it my self couldn't I? Like it's no more difficult than installing a hdd or ram right?

Yeah, I was originally planning on doing a money wire to utilize that cash discount, but instead went with just paying credit because it was so much easier. I think the reason we're waiting awhile is because the GT60 is still on Pre-order, but who knows.

They have them in, got the notification e-mail, xoticpc has been great on getting back to me via email. The delay from the bank wire is not their fault, I should have just put it on the card. I did the rush order since I need it for work ASAP. I thought the bank transfer would go through in one day, like every other time I've done a transfer, but I guess their bank must operate differently.

Ahh ok, yeah I'm kind of in the same boat as you are. I need mine ASAP because I leave for college in less than two weeks, but I'm afraid I won't get it in time because I ordered mine with Monitor Calibration and did not pay extra for a rush order. =(

You can still upgrade it to rush and upgrade the shipping. But you do know that standard production time is 9-16 business days and that order processing can take a bit too right? I got mine just in time on Friday after I ordered it the 27th since I leave for college on monday. And that was with Rush (and pre-order wait).

Hey guys I just received my MSI GT60 0NE from XoticPC this weekend. So far I'm really impressed with only one minor disappointment. The minor disappointment is that 5% ofthe time the spacebar won't register if I hit it on the far right side (which is occasionally where I hit it while typing). I'm going to be using this laptop in college for computer programming so WPM will matter quitea bit to me. Could anyone else please tell me if they have this problem? I might RMA my laptop if this only seems to be an issue with my machine but Ireally would not like to wait any longer since I've been dying to play with this bad boy. :p Everything else about this machine hasamazed me so far though! I'll post a pic of my benchmarks onceI finish setting everything up.

(You can see where occasionaly a space was missed in this message)

I live chatted them and was able to upgrade to rush for free. I just let them know that I was leaving for college in less than two weeks...and that Gentech had already received/shipped/delivered some of their orders. It worked out for the better though, it's shipped and should be here by Wednesday.

Yup. Optimus is never manually triggered. In fact, the only time it's switched to the 680m is for really heavy gaming and graphics. Other than that, it's all been the HD 4000 graphics, without any delay or setback in performance.

Plus, you can change some settings around and could probably get up to 5 if you do it right.

How's the 15" screen at 1920x1080? Text pretty legible? My main use is going to be coding/programming for school, so hopefully Visual Studio on a 15" screen at 1920x1080 won't be too bad!

Hello everyone, just an update if anyone is curious. I talked to XoticPC about fixing my keyboard and XoticPC has set up my RMI for me, I am impressed with XoticPC's fairly quick responses and answers to all of my questions. MSI has now contacted me and given me my RMA information and I'm going to be shipping it to a service center around 1 and half hours from my home. I need my laptop ASAP as I'm moving out in two weeks for college and have notified MSI of this and am waiting to see how they will respond. I'll let everyone know how this goes and how long it takes since from what I've read online there have been a few people with issues of key presses not registering.

    Wish me luck! :)

Also, to Striph who asked before 1920x1080 resolution does seem a little small at first but I quite enjoy it now! It helps save screen real-estate on a small screen and the text is still legible and very clear (like small text on an iPhone retina screen)

    Hello everyone,

I'm currently looking to buy this laptop, a friend has a GT60 0NC and was impressed with the quality of the screen (best I've seen on a laptop so far) and that of the audio.

I've been trying to decide on the build, I'd like this laptop to last me at least 3 to 4 years, which is why I wanted a GTX 680 for a graphics card but now I'm also curious about some other performance settings and would like some input from the community. =)

    Hard Drives
Does the GT60 have super raid and if so, what are its advantages (2 750 GB SATA-II in RAID-0) compared to an SSD as primary and 750GB SATA-II for storage?

I've been reading good things about hybrid drives, how do they perform in raid? I was thinking that perhaps 2 500/750 GB Seagate XT 7200RPM in RAID would be near as good performance as SSD primary. What about perhaps an SSD primary with 750 Seagate XT as secondary?

If possible, could someone give an optimal setup in this category?

    WI-FI
Which WiFi adapter should I go with? Here is a list of the options given to me, I've read up on the specs for the Advanced-N 6235 and am leaning towards that option, what difference is there between the 6235 and the Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1202? I've tried researching the Bigfoot Networks Killer adapters but they don't really say much, at least that I could find.

    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 Wireless Card + Bluetooth 4.0 (Single Band)
    Intel® Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth 4.0+HS Combo Card (Dual Band)
    Intel® Advanced-N 6205 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module (Dual Band)
    Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 (3x3) (Dual Band)
    Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 + Bluetooth 4.0 (Dual Band)
    Intel® Ultimate-N 6300 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module (Includes 3rd Antenna) (Dual Band)
    Intel® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 (Multi Band)
    Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 (3x3) (Includes 3rd Antenna) (Dual Band)

I'm hoping to buy this laptop next week (my current one is failing me and driving me mad), so any input is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I just spent most of the week researching this exact thing. If you want the hands down fastest wifi connection possible, go with the Bigfoot 1103, its a triple stream dual band card, only downside is no Bluetooth. The Intel Ultimate 6300 is also a triple stream card, but significantly slower in all the tests I saw.

If you want bluetooth then the Bigfoot 1202 is probably your best bet, it is only a dual stream dual band card but nobody makes a triple stream card with bluetooth yet (wtb 1203 card!)

I mostly did searches on the Intel 6300 Ultimate and found comparisons against the 1103 Bigfoot, which absolutely dominates across the board.

My plan is to pickup the GT60 with a Bigfoot 1103 and add a Bluetooth dongle if I ever need the BT connection.

Here's another post on here of a guy who tested the 1103 vs the 6300 over 5 tests on each. Its not super scientific like most of the google results I saw, but it helped make up my mind.

As I await for my GT60 ONE to arrive, basically base model, hopefully this week, I just wanted to ask about gaming performance for those who have this model already. Specifically, anyone playing skyrim, BF3, the secret world, use it for guild wars 2 beta, and the not demanding but poorly optimized DayZ mod?

Just looking for general performance and impressions

    1. Is the GT60's stock screen (if there is only one stock screen) still LP156WF1-TLF3?
    2. I've heard that the audio, though far superior to most laptops, still lacks bass. Has anyone had a problem with this?
    3. Again, any issues with keys not registering or keyboard ghosting? I don't want to pay the premium for this laptop over the Sager np9150 and still end up buying a USB sound card or keyboard.
    4. How's the touchpad?
    5. Does GentechPC offer any discounts besides the cash discount?

Edit: I'll probably get the MSI. Pity. The complaints about the Sager np9150's sound quality are getting to me. If it looked as plain and professional as the Sager, this would be an easy choice.

How does one install an SSD in the primary bay?

    1: The stock screen is LP156WF1 TLB2

2: You can tweak through the TruStudio software to get better sound than the stock setting.

3: We've seen some units with some keys not registering but in general the steelseries works very well.

4: It comes with Synaptic touchpad and we haven't hear any complaints.

5: You can send me PM.

I am seriously thinking about buying the GT60 w/680m.

    Two quick questions for owners:

    1. Do you think it's worth it to for the Overclock upgrade from XoticPC?

    2. Do you think it's worth it for the monitor calibration on the 95% gamut?

I would say do not go for the overclock option, and depending on how much of a movie watcher/gamer you are, you probably should go with the monitor calibration if you can spare the $50. ( I would say definitely if you have a bluray drive)

Alright, so after a month of using this laptop, I can officially say that I love it. It handles all my games on modded maxes with NO problem whatsoever. Its wireless card can download a Steam game at a steady 6 MB/s. I can se it on battery for 4 straight hours of normal use outside without glare. It's webcam is excellent for skype. It's not too bulky or heavy, and fits nicely in any bag I put it in. The picture is beautiful on both the built in screen and my 24" monitor. It's sound is excellent both in output and processing, which is very important since I produce music. It's CPU can run as many programs as I can throw at it. And it's not so blingy that other people will look at it thinking to steal it.

I'd say this is about the perfect laptop for anyone who is going to college and still wants to have perfect 1080p graphics without a huge desktop taking up space in their dorm room. Thanks MSI and XoticPC!

New drivers are available for the Nvidia card. choose win8 64 on the download drivers page. (Nvidia uses a unified driver package for 7 & 8.

Just got this laptop two days ago, I'm amazed by how much power it puts out. I got it to within 5% of my gtx 580 desktop card.

I used the MSI Afterburner to set the clocks to +130/+700 and was able to score a 6.2k graphics score on 3dmark 11. My desktop 580 was only able to get 6.5k.

Strange thing I noticed though, is if I run 3dmark under stock settings, it'll end up heating up to 85*c and throttle itself causing terrible scores (around 5k). That's when using the Fan button. Once I set the OC though, it won't heat up to over 78*C and I get much higher scores.

One thing that's confusing me is which bios I should be looking at for updating. I have the GT60 0NE with the single 750gb card, and I have a copy of that drive currently ordered. Do I use the RAID version of the bios or is that only for the SSD RAID that MSI has going on?

If you're planning on using RAID, then install the RAID BIOS, if not, use the normal one.

My new GT60 is arriving today, pretty excited to get home and set it up. hoping my reseller installed the OS on the SSD (i couldnt imagine they wouldnt) and the latest driver for the 680m (that i will most likely have to do). If not i can handle it, but want to get into guild wars and dayz asap. i got to install a bunch of programs for work as well, but they can go on the HDD. Is windows security essentials sufficient for protection? i browse safe anyways.

It can get a bit loud, but only when gaming and the noise is a whoosh, not a high pitched whine like most high end video cards have. Not too bad at all in my opinion. I put a good laptop cooler stand under mine to help and it keeps it a bit quieter.
